My research has turned up DaNang International Airport as a possible destination from Saigon and departure point to Hanoi. It is 50 miles form Hue, which is 40 miles longer than the distance from Phu Bai airport to the center of Hue.

Flights from Saigon to Hue on Sunday May 25 in the relevant time frame are:

VN324 1600 1710
VN326 1730 1840

Flights from Hue to Hanoi on Tuesday May 27 are:

VN310 0810 0920
VN314 1230 1340
VN316 1635 1745
VN318 2050 2200

I believe that teams if air travel is the mode used will come in and out of Hue airport, but you never know. The reputation of Phu Bai airport is that during the rainy season flights are frequenetly disrupted. That does not happen at DaNang airport.

Henry and Bernie-4:50

(but between AD/Fuzzie and Sam/Vince the time is probably from 5-6 but not too far apart since AD and Fuzzie were able to get ahead of them)
Niroo and Kapil-6:00 I THINK but this is the best I got
Geoff and Tisha-6:15
Ida and Tania-6:35
Pailin and Natalie-too dark to see
Mai and Oliver-too dark
William and Isaac-12:30

Puddin, I think you may be on to something! :yess:  The train guy's uniform is a very close match to the guard...

But I can only find this yellow station and it is kinda far away, lol. I went right down the list of stops too...

 :duno:

Thanks apskip...but Hanoi does remain speculation of course.  ;)  I find 3 legs in Vietnam to be improbable....of course, I still want Taiwan! and that may be improbable too.

But I would have liked China Beach/Denang too though, esp as TAR went there and we know TARA reuses locations...just not sure they can manage the time.

I am trying to think where they could end up for the Pitstop. TAR went on to China Beach...

and Danang has an International airport...   just thinking, since they are heading south already.

Because isn't time getting short? Why do we see Geoff in bright sun when we know they were just starting tasks around 3 in Hue and still had to get to the tomb??  Could this be back in Saigon? They may have more time to kill there...

Dapa, are those times from the post office clock??  That is very helpful though.

I can't get the VR site to cough up a timetable, but VietnamImpressive, an online agent, has the 2008 schedules (about what you'd expect) plus flight info.

That VR site didn't like me either... So okay now, we have 3 train schedules, all with listed arr times a minute or so different, but pretty doggone close so we can assume those are right enough, I guess?

Now we just have to decide did they really take the train? (I LOVE trains!)

Re pink uniforms Air Bagan (Burma/Myanmar) apparently used pink uniforms, at least in 2006...  :duno:

Peach, that uniform is Vietnamese ao dai. That's what Miss Universe 2008 wore in Nha Trang, Vietnam.
Maybe that's why the producers recruited Miss Universe 2005.  :duno:

SO y'all may know this already. I was looking for the bamboo matting in the Citadel and came across this little map:

http://www.orientalarchitecture.com/hue/imperialcityindex.htm

All this time I have been thinking that the Imperial Palace was ONE place, and the Citadel another.

Instead, The Forbidden Purple City is inside the Imperial Palace which is inside the Citadel.

Here is a Vietnam era military map of the Citadel as well:
http://grunt.space.swri.edu/visit/maps/Hue1.jpg

So if it is all together, WHY did Shirley see Allen Wu at the Imperial Palace?? Even though she saw  no mat there, could this be the Pitstop after all?

In which case we need to look at a much earlier arrival time, which could rule out trains.

Suppose they do Detours somewhere, Roadblock at the Tomb, and then bus back to Hue where they cyclo to the Citadel/Imperial Palace/Purple City for the PITSTOP??

You think Ida was looking for the pitstop at the palace? but why alone? unless whatsherface is out of sight?
Allen could have been filming his standups? I dunno?

Not a spoiler, more like a wish, that they use the dragon boats

You might get your wish puddin!!

Look here:

http://www.igougo.com/attractions-reviews-b102752-Hue-Dragon_Boat_Trip_on_the_Perfume_River.html

Quote
Tours depart at 8am from the main wharf and return at about 4pm. There are numerous identical Dragon boats that all depart at the same time. You can be picked up from your hotel for no additional charge.
The trip visits Linh Mu (Thien Mu) pagoda, Hon Chen Temple, Tu Duc Tomb, Minh Mang Tomb and Khai Dinh Tomb spending between 45 minutes and an hour at each stop. This is definately not enough time for a true temple junkie but it is a good way to get your bearings as to the historical sites in Hue.

Both Tu Duc and Khai Dinh tombs require a moto-taxi once you get there, and the drivers are quite notorious for doubling the negotiated price for the return trip. Each site has an entry fee of between AU$1.50 and $4. Having paid $2 for the boat trip is hardly cause for complaint. A basic cooked lunch is included in the price with the option of paying for extra dishes. The boat itself is basically a decoratively covered barge with plastic garden chairs there is no commentary or guides at the sites.

and here:

http://www.virtualtourist.com/travel/Asia/Vietnam/Tinh_Thua_Thien_Hue/Hue-1481131/Transportation-Hue-BR-1.html

Quote
A dragon boat cruise down the Perfume River is the best way to see the imperial palaces, tombs and temples of Hue. It costs just 25,000 VND for an all-day cruise, starting at 8am and returning at 3pm.

A minibus will collect you from your hotel and take you to the landing stage. This is included in the price, as is a simple lunch and drink. Entrance fees are not included. Also, you will need to pay extra for a motorbike taxi to take you to any site that is not close to the river.

The route takes in Thien Mu Pagoda, Tu Duc Tomb, Hon Chen Temple, Khai Dinh Tomb and Minh Mang Tomb. The boat will drop you at the the Citadel at the end of the cruise, if you request it.

You can buy a ticket at any travel agency in Hue, including Sinh Cafe
.

so we still see two kinds of buses--a local city bus and another....where are they coming from/ going to?
