I understand you both , what does that mean?  :iok :colors  :funny:

Here are the times from the very nice TurboJet website and 45 minutes is right on target.

No, Boingo, that is not the speculation, which is about getting from Macau directly to Hong Kong Airport. Getting from
Hong Kong Island to Hong Kong Int. Airport is not the issue. To do that you first have to take a longer TurboJet into Hong Kong Island the HK/Macau Ferry terminal. When you combine that with the time to head back in the direction you just came from to Lantau Island, the sum of those two times is unreasonable compared to thte 45 minutes direct Macau to Kong Kong Int. Airport. You would only do it if you just missed one of the 4 departure times for the direct TurboJet.

Well not to put too fine a point on it, but you seem to be mixing your speculations.  As you can see from peach's original posting she makes no mention of a direct Macao-HK Airport ferry.  Her speculation was based on a helo or ferry transport to HK Island and then to the airport.  As was mine.

Any discussion of a direct Macau-HK Airport ferry was injected hours later (by you) after we posted our speculation.  To claim the original speculation even hinted of a direct Macau-HK Airport ferry connection is flat out WRONG.  Please get your facts straight.  If you have a beef with the original (peach) posting not mentioning your Macau-airport ferry solution, then take it up with her.    :meow:  So there...

Hey! :funny: Leave me out of it! :hides

So I do kinda think they may have done the chopper thing here because they may have otherwise had to wait a while for the next Turbojet. Wonder if they were surprised to find themselves right back where they started the trip to Macau and not at the airport at all?

So to summarize, if they take the chopper , they will arrive at Sun Tek Center and then they still have to get to the Airport by one of the 3 ways in my post above.

Or they can take the nice TurboJet direct Macau Ferry Terminal to HKIA, and if they have gotten a ticket they can pre check in and pre-pass thru Immigration which could be a nice timesaver as well.

I'm more interested in figuring out WHEN the Macau Tower tasks occurred...

 You may be on to something, peach.  The Heliexpress (Macau to HK Island) Helicopter Service you found uses Sikorsky S76 choppers.  The preview vidcap does look a lot like a S76 (particularly the horizontal tail and retractable wheel covers.

It does resemble an S-76 (source page), but I agree with Apskip. There must be some angle we're missing: the cost-benefit ratio (of saving only 30 min.) is way out of whack. And do they even have that much money (about 284 USD/2,200 HK)?

I looked every where I could Boingo, and could not find helicopters going directly, and found some Trip forums saying specifically it could not be done.

I would love to find one though, it would explain SOO much! Let me know if you can link to a service!

  Macau appears to be a mystery wrapped in an enigma....

Because I was bored, I got a better image of the helicopter preview.  Notice that the bottom of the craft in the vidcap is dark colored, NOT like the Heliexpress paint scheme.

However, I did match it to another pix of a helicopter in Macau, namely the Grand Lisboa Casino helicopter (paintscheme)..... BUT it is operated by Heliexpress. (which just happens to be owned by casino king Stanley Ho) :funny:  Round and round we go...   :'(

Here's one for you, given that the first thing they do when leaving Macau is to go back to the Macau Tower, they would be close to both the ferry terminal and Stanley Ho's Grand lisboa Casino.  Ya think one pair of racers is daring enough to book a direct helicopter flight to HK airport from Macau ($$$) instead of using the direct ferry?  That would be daring.  :duno:

That would be daring.  :duno:

Actually it would but much more so it would be stupid. Anyone who looks at the flight schedules can tell that any advantage gained is only temporary, as the other teams will get to Singapore in time to make the preferred SilkAir flight. There is also the strong possibility that Geoff and Tisha could screw up and book the Air India flight to Delhi, connecting there to Mumbai and eventually Cochin, arriving there are 0230 the following day while the SilkAir teams will get there by 11pm, hours ahead of them.

If Geoff/Tisha have the money for a helicopter flight then they ought to be saving it for a real opportunity at an advantage.

From Michael McKay at AXN yesterday:

Quote
Without giving too much away on the next Leg it will be testing for the teams.

And yes, I am sure you have picked up on the bungy (I personally hate bungy jumps and don't understand why anyone would want to do it unless they are racing for $100,000). I'll eat bugs, stinky tofu and I'll happily do a flying fox and things like that but I'm not keen on bungy.

Anyway, this next Leg is quite long and will also get a little emotional for the Teams. Hong Kong was fun but Macau was testing.

In this next leg the choices teams make will be crucial - more so than usual.

And, of course, the pressure will be squarely on Ida and Tania, no doubt about that. It will be interesting to see how they handle the pressure.

There is clearly no love lost between Geoff and Tisha and Henry and Bernie after THAT yield. Henry and Bernie will need to put that behind them and re-group this week.

A.D. and Fuzzie are still walking their way through the Race. Amazing really. I think they have raced really well. Very consistent and not many viewers picked them to go this far. So congrats A.D. and Fuzzie.

Vince and Sam benefited from a home town advantage in Hong Kong. I think the fast forward in Taiwan proved crucial because it gave them a solid head start into Hong Kong. So it has turned out to be an important FF, especially with Hong Kong backing into Macau. But they might find it tougher now.

Enjoy!

I'd like to digress from the Ep 8 discussion a moment and jump ahead to the last 2 legs before the finale.

We know thanks to puddin's and Boingo's work on the Intro screencaps that they are going to Muscat, Oman.  :hearts:
http://forum.realityfanforum.com/index.php/topic,15379.msg350220.html#msg350220

:jumpy:  This is the Barr Al Jissah Resort - Muscat, Oman

So where else will they go before the finale? ???

We have some Intro vidcaps that strongly suggest East Africa to me.

We have what on first glance looked like Jumping Maasai warriors, but on second glance are women. Those dresses are distinctive and could possibly be matched?

We also have what Slowhatch identified as Cape Buffalo:
Are we sure they're water buffalo and not Cape buffalo?

And we have this generic street scene which looks like so many I have seen in Kenya and Tanzania.

There is also this one which looks like an Arab dhow to me. Could be Oman or even Cochin, but reminds me again of East Africa.

Other connections: Michael McKay produced "Ultimate Escape" which went to both Oman and Tanzania so it is reasonable to think that he has connections there. He said in TarAsiaFan's Interview:
Quote
Actually one of my absolute favourite locations comes up towards the very end of this series so more on that another time.

That could be Oman, but I keep thinking/hoping Tanzania.

And lastly, TARA has been following in the footsteps of TAR a lot this season. There is a "lost" ie unused Tanzanian leg from AllStars that was cancelled at the VERY last minute.  It seems reasonable to think that the plans for that leg are intact and could be utilized for TARA 3.

And mostly, sentimentally, East Africa is one of my most favorite places in the world, and I would love for them to go there.

SO we still have loads to accomplish in Oman, and lots to speculate on re if East Africa (I think Tanzania) seems likely.

Apskip I'm sure can give us some insight as to whether it would make more sense to go Cochin>>Oman>>Tanzania>>Asia?  or to go Cochin>>Tanzania>>Oman>>Asia? always realizing of course, that Tanzania is speculation only at this point.

And then we have the Finale....

We still have that one news article saying "filming in Europe" but I think personally that is unlikely.

Will they follow tradition and return to Bangkok? Maybe...but somehow that doesn't seem likely either.

I will say that I am still hearing buzz about Beijing, so perhaps that is not entirely out of the picture? But so far this is the best kept secret of TARA 3 and good for them!  :jam:

So maybe:

Leg 1 Bangkok to Chiang Mai Neena/Amit eliminated
Leg 2 Chiang Mai to Saigon William/Isaac eliminated
Leg 3 Saigon to Hue Natalie/Pailin eliminated
Leg 4 Hue to Taiwan Niroo/Kapil eliminated
Leg 5 Taiwan Mai/Oliver eliminated
Leg 6 Taiwan to Hong Kong NEL
Leg 7 HK to Macau NEL Ida/Tania must arrive first in the next leg or receive a 30 minute penalty
Leg 8 Macau to Cochin, India Must be an Elim (I&T, please take your 30 minute penalty and then...keep on racing?  :funny:) 4 teams remain
Leg 9 Cochin to East Africa??   either NEL or TBC
Leg 10 East Africa?? to  Muscat, Oman   Elim, 3 teams remain
Leg 11 Muscat, Oman to Finale, location unknown possibly back to Thailand

   OR

Leg 9 Cochin to Muscat, Oman  either NEL or TBC
Leg 10 Muscat, Oman to  East Africa??   Elim, 3 teams remain
Leg 11 East Africa to Finale, location unknown possibly back to Thailand by "Tradition"

BLUE=speculation

Thoughts? Ideas? Spoilers?

Wow, georgiapeach, that's one good long post. Thinking about it, if they are to end in Thailand, it is much better to go to Oman first before East Africa. Just a thought.

Check out his right shoe. It has a shadow.

Now check out the monolith's shadow.
At 11AM, the shadow is long.
At noon, the shadow is short.
from 1PM-2PM, the shadow is in another direction.

My estimate of her jump is around noon.

The colored bathing huts are in Cape Town, aren't they? And TARA went to Cape Town--did we ever see those?

http://www.allposters.com/-sp/Colorful-Bathing-Huts-Cape-Town-South-Africa-Posters_i1688217_.htm ???

The water buffalo could be from last season's task couldn't it?

I assumed both of those were old.

What happened to Cape Town, South Africa? Is it recycled?

How long does each team have to wait in line in order to jump? 15 minutes?

If 15 minutes, then it's like this:

10:00AM, Geoff jumps
10:15AM, Tisha jumps
10:30AM, Sam jumps
10:45AM, Vince jumps
11:00AM, Fuzzie
11:15AM, A.D.
11:30AM, Bernie
11:45AM, Henry

12 noon, Ida jumps
12:15PM, Tania jumps

So it's not an equalizer. Ida & Tania are 2 hours behind.
