What is that big brown circle thing?

My first thought when I saw it was that it is an aircraft engine with a cover on it but I don't think that is what it is.

otherwise it looks like a big fan with a fabric cover.

As far as the U-turn goes.....i would think that if either Ron/Christina or Nick/Don got to the U-turn that they would U-turn TK/Rachel because they are younger and faster.  But on the other hand, I could see if R/C and Nick/Don are neck and neck with each other how one or the other would U-turn the other.  It's better to U-turn someone you know is on your tail than someone you don't have a clue where they are.

Also, isn't it Christina who is working on the last task along with Nick and Rachel?  that what I have always thought based upon this picture:

Also, I just noticed in the picture of Rachel running she doesn't have on her jacket whereas in the new picture of the big round thing in the background she does have her jacket on.

From the pictures, it could really be anybody's game!  Well, except maybe Nick & Don's.

If there's a U-Turn, I think Ron & Christina use it.  Christina's willing to do whatever it takes, after all.  I think she uses it on either Nick & Don or T.K. & Rachel.

In any case, I think Ron & Christina win and we have our first parent-child winning team!

Could we finally have a three way footrace to the mat?

I was going to say that big round thing was the taiko, but puddin beat me to it.
Just here to visit.

There is an Anchorage taiko club, but the drums in the photo gallery look standard-issue (non-decorated).

A long walkway over a mud flat with a shed in it...something similar to this, maybe.

This is a globe in the background so we may be able to find the roadblock location if we search something involving globes...unless it was added there by the race.

Yeah like that Slowhatch  :hfive: :ya3: , just for getting a clue?

Michael I'm not seeing a globe, I'm seeing what looks like the spare tire on the back of my Honda  :umn:

oh in the shots or rachel it looks like a globe or something cause you see little green blobs all around it, but in that shot it looks nothing like one LOL  :groan:

Judging by the caps, we're not looking for a decent crab boat.  :snicker:
Here's the topo, overhead photo of 39-S, etc. I'm not saying it's the Cook Inlet Tug&Barge pier--no match yet--but it's something similar.

Hm...so I'm on Google Maps and tracked where Slowhatch provided us with the map, and I used the Alyeska Ski Resort as a reference point. They are about >40 miles apart, give or take a few miles. I suppose these may be plausible locations for the race, but I am still unsure as the bird's eye view doesn't work...

The picture isn't the clearest, but I found it....whether or not it is actually good evidence, I don't know

So Phil is a big FAT LIAR.

Episode #4 quote (and you can see him speaking this at the location, its not a voice over), "This is the first of only two U-Turns found along the race."

Episode #8 quote(and again you can see him at the location speaking the words), "This is the 2nd of only two U-Turns found along the race course."

I can understand why he would say one Fast FOrward, in episode 7 (even though we had reports of one in episode 5).  After all no one used it and this was recorded after that, so they could change his speech to reflect it.

But this.....They clearly mention 1 and  2 at the sites and both were used.

That pisses me off.
