I too have been in Ireland for ages looking for that blasted pitstop!

I wonder if this would be a possibility?

It is called "Dan O'Hara's Homestead" and is part of the Connemara Heritage Center--wouldn't be too far from Galway...
and they have accomodation on site!

Peach, that's looking good.  And fits the scheme of things in which TAR likes to have some local importance to the spot they pick for the mat and philimination.  I have been looking at places on the Dingle Peninsula but you beat me to Connemara.

And it looks like a place you can drive to, which isn't the case in Aran where automobiles are discouraged, and I can't see 11 SUVs roaring around that landscape.

And according to this article from Trip Advisor it is up a mountain...

Quote
The Heritage Centre offers a brief film and a small museum, but by far the BEST part of the experience is the tour that you get with "Martin" who drives you up the side of the mountain to an authentically restored Irish cottage. Along the way he explains a number of things including how/why turf was harvested for fuel, etc. He talks about the history of the Celts, the Famine, the Land Laws, etc. Inside the cottage a turf fire burns as Martin gives you a fascinating review of Irish history. He breaks into a capella song and offers everyone a shot of the homemade poteen. It's a great tour and well worth your time (about an hour). Appropriate for all ages.

AND *ahem* there is a tree! :jumpy:

And the most prominent landscape feature of Connemara are the Twelve Bens or mountains.  These could be the ones seen in the background of the mat and happy embraces.  I'll see if I can find a picture here.

Could be.

Okay, I've been on this a little.  I had to go down to the lab for a while, pick up a kid from the SAT, but I'm back.  And that place is very close to the one I found.

But my place does not have a name.  Yet.  Slowhatch will probably get it!

I found the place based on the tilted view it shows in GE.  I'll get that up next.

With less than 28 hours to go the TAR detectives are zeroing in!

And the Connemara area is also known for its peat bogs!

But as things get clearer, I'm getting foggier!

It looks now like the high-wire, and the donkey stunt, and the final mat all or on  Ireland proper, the Dingle Peninsula Connemara area.  That leaves the bike for two; which seems to be on the same day as the rest as the teams are wearing the same clothing in all four spots.

Now the question is why did they go to Aran?  What did they do there?  And the weather was raining all the time.  (Sunny the next day) Teams wouldn't just go there for an overnight stay and then return to Ireland by ferry again in the morning.  Or did they?

Do they drive to the ferry terminal for Aran (Rossaveel) , leave their SUVs in a park spot, take the ferry to Aran, do something, (rent bikes and ride and find the guest house and get a leave time for the next morning, bike back (some teams still have their rain gear on, but it is now sunny) and  take the ferry back to Rossaveel and  pickup their SUV's and drive off to the roadblock or wherever?  Connemara Heritage center is not to far from Rossaveel.

It looks like it was registered this year in Galway county.
:) thanks Slowhatch!

Note the yellow and red sticker in the windscreen of the car in the second picture.  This is the same as the one seen in the vehicle behind both the ministers and Ari and Staella when they seem to be arriving at the pit stop and welcome mat.  Do they drive themselves to this location at the end of the ep?

No they drive to where the Roadblock & Donkey task are Gman .. thats the place that I can't find.  :'(  (:;)  :pull  :knuckles:  :umn:

If the Roadblock and Donkey task and the pit stop are all together and reached by driving the SUV they wouldn't be together on Aran.  Note the trees by the cars as they drive in the country.  Can't find trees on Aran.

And then we have the scene of TK and Rachel, and the ministers arriving at the pit stop with the same SUV's with the TAR sticker on the windscreen in the background.  And Puddin says they drive to the pit stop, and the high wire and donkey thing.

First of all I'm so freaking happy that you found that darn place! Fantastic peach :jumpy: :yess: :wohoo: I LOVE YOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU  :jumpy: :jumpy:

I think they fly to Shannon --ferry to Aran -- grab a clue in the rocks maybe for times? --spend a night the Hostels --ferry back --drive to Connemara  where they do the High wire then donkeys. There are donkeys and cars at the pitstop see --
or B I'm a jackass !!

I definitely think the bikes and the highwire are in the Aran's....  nope!

But how about this? We think this picture is arriving at the Pitstop--and there is a donkey behind TK...

Dan O'Hara's is a working farm and we know the donkeys have to be taken to the "entrance to a farm".  And based on one photo from upstream--they have donkeys at this farm.

So what about if the donkey task occurs just before the Pitstop? That might give us the idea that the donkeys are the downfall of the last place teams...

Does that work?

:umn:  Now that peach has nailed the Irish pitstop, let's move on to the remaining unknown vidcaps.

Here's my best guess as to where the black racers are going...  This appears to be the Aran Ferry dock in Rossaveal (Connemara).  The racers appear to be heading down the pier towards the Aran ferry, and the building in the background may be the one labeled as "Pier Office",  Note the street running on the left and the low wall.  They probably parked the SUVs in the Car Park and ran to the pier to catch the ferry to Inis Mor.      OK, bash away.   :knuckles:

:umn:  Edited to add: After further examination I believe the racers now appear to be running away from the ferry on the Rossaveal dock.  This means that they are returning from Inis Mor and heading for other tasks in Connemara.

Well done another idea would be if they went over and got a ferry ticket for the following ticket just like in TAR 5 and TAR 7's Episode 1. Then return and do the other tasks
'We are the makers of music, and the dreamers of dreams. To roam the roads of lands remote, to travel is to live'.
