IF the mat location is indeed at some cottage on Inishmore, Aran, it must have some signiificance and there is not too much of significance on Aran outside of Dun Aengus and the Black Fortress.  But, the documentary film made by Robert Flarhety in 1934 (I think) "Man of Aran" is a local legend known simpley as "The Film".  And the cottage of the Man of Aran may be the spot.  I don't know how to find such cottage but it may exist and have a local name attached to it.  Worth a try, what?

Check Google and there is a Bed and Breakfast in Kilronan known as The Man of Aran Cottage It is a thatched cottage built in 1934 for the filming of The Man of Aran.  Not too good pictures, but this might be the spot.

  Good stuff, puddin.... but, the pix of Phil is very interesting.   :groan:  If this is the Irish pitstop, then I don't think Inis Mor has mountains that large.   :(   This may be crazy, but what if the racers DO go to Inis Mor (maybe for the jetlag rest period, and a small task) and return to Ireland proper to a place like Connemara or The Burren (which has scenery similar to the promo) for the pitstop.  This makes sense as they wouldn't have to wait for the ferry to leave Ireland for Leg 2.   :umn:   OK, continue to discuss this among yourselves...   ;)

well...if you mean the "Island of Ireland", then yes, but not the other Aran Islands.   ;D  This leg reminds me of the Perth leg a few seasons ago.  The recers then spent only a short time on the island only to return back to Perth for the pitstop.  This leg may be the similar.     Or maybe not.  :rotf:

Oh wait, didn't you find the pitstop rest area (some hostel on Inis Mor)?  That blows that theory if true.  :groan:

No we think the teams slept at the Hostel Boingo -- now I'm looking at the Cliffs of Moher. We do see Mercedes oh whatever they are at the pitstop after all so it cant be the islands  :lol3:

So maybe just the Hostel/bikes are Aran islands then they drive back in Ireland and we hear Lorena yelling at Jason that they are not suppose to go to Galway but the opposite way.

I agree 100% after seeing that mountain behind Phil that they are not on the Arans anymore.

And puddin --it is so "spooky" pretty here--I thought I was in the wrong place!

Mountains--here We come!

Dingle--Ring of Kerry--Cliffs of Moher--need to go look...
