The 28 days has to be wrong! The teams/Goths were back on their myspaces on Aug 1st as far as I can tell.

and is it 30,000 miles or 50,000???

Chateau--I can absolutely tell you that the race finished BEFORE August 3--and as puddin said, we now have a lot of myspace log-ins on the 1st--so I think the race may have ended on the 30th or 31st.

And I thought the quote at the site was 50,000 miles (need to go check though) --but hey whatever--we know BVM's mileage counts are never very good!

I agree.  They just grab numbers because that was what it was for some previous season.

Did you notice that the promo says they only go "30,000 miles"  :groan:

There is a way to get to 28 days, not legitimate to you and me but apparently OK to CBS and World Race Productions. It is to count the lockdown as part of the race. There are typically 3 days of lockldown prior to the beginning of the race. Teams are sequestered and taken to the starting city without necessarily knowing where it is. They learn of the specific rules of this race and a variety of other useful things. It takes 3 days. 3 +25 = 28 days. It's possible that's how they rationalized it.

The new press release
CBS announces the 11 Teams set to compete in THE AMAZING RACE 12.  The 11 Teams will travel approximately 30,000 miles, covering five countries never before visited on the Race, including Ireland, Lithuania and Croatia.  The five-time Emmy Award-winning reality adventure series premieres Sunday, Nov. 4 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.

CBS site:

Quote
Traveling more than 50,000 miles and crossing multiple continents in 28 days, the Teams are in a fierce race to the finish first for a shot at the million dollar prize.

I'm not trusting them at all right now---their link to the site takes you to Season 1!

Scratch my remarks on the Timelines--I see it says Timeline speculation!

And KEEP those threads--when all the newbies starting coming in with all the "I just love the Goths" and "I think so and so is SOOO Hot"--you are going to be really really glad to have somewhere where they can go!

We just need a day or two to settle down and see what will work best where...

KingCrimson, I know you are  reading spoilers so not sure how you missed this one? Girdwood, Alaska is one of our best documented legs EVER. There is NO doubt about this leg

No, no, no, I meant Alaska won't be a seperate leg. Meaning Alaska will be part of the final leg. They travel to Alaska, do some tasks, and then go to the final city all in one leg, just as they did in season 2 and 9.

I am sticking with the proposed Race route that ends with Taipei, Osaka, Anchorage, final city.

Using the new information about when they were in Taipei (Friday July 27th 12 noon at the tower) I made dueling timelines that comapre the cases of Taipei being either before or after Osaka.

The deciding factor for me was the way the teams would have to spend 38 hours just lollygaging around in Teipei before moving on to Alaska.  YMMV

CHATEAU, you are saying that teams will fly from Taipei to Oaska so they can fly back from Osaka to Taipei to catch the 29th nonstop to Anchorage? I don't find that credible. Here are a few reasons:

1. Teams are likely to be tired from the excess wear of the relentless preceding travel (see Speculative Timelines thread for some appreciation of that) and need an additional 24 hour pitstop adding on to the normal 12 hours. That would cut down your "excess" to 14 hours.

2. Taipei 101 is almost certainly not the only task to be done in Taipei. My original flight schedule for leading teams had them arriving from Osaka at 1220 on July 27, but it would have been at 2155 on July 26 since they were spotted around noon on what probably was the 27th. After Taipei 101, there would be several other tasks on Taiwan lasting until sometime that evening. Add in a 36 hour extended pitstop and your are late morning July 29. Just enough time to get to Chiang Kai Shek airport(including lagging teams) and comfortably make the 1715 flight to Anchorage.

I guess it's just weird for me to finally see new teams. The last race was TAR All Stars so it was all familiar faces.
