Brunei?

From sucks:

Quote
Just got back from Brunei as I work as a I.T systems consultant for retail and small to medium sized commercial companies. I heard rumours from staff at the Yayasan shopping centre, which is in the capital, that they had been contacted by producers in the US for fliming of a TV show towards the end of August.

Does anyone else have knowledge of this?

I can't answer about Brunei--but kogs and I  spent the afternoon checking out Boston.

I spoke to Patte in the Mayor's office who originally confirmed that some permits had been issued to CBS. However, they are more of permit "facilitators" who help direct people thru the film permit process, and therefore did not know exactly when/where/what permits had been issued. Through a process of one name leading to another and some excellent info from kogs, I ended up speaking with three different people in three different film permit areas. The last person I spoke to is the one where "the buck stops here" and after speaking with him, he is confident that no permits have been issued within the city limits for Boston by CBS, TAR, WRP, RT technologies or Earthvision. While it is possible that areas outside of Boston are not ruled out, it seems like the original trail of "some CBS permits" may relate more to something related to CBS radio (possibly the Boston Pops 4th of July concert?) and not to our TAR. Sorry guys....

But I thought Boston traffic/airport/ tourist crowds would make a TAR start there a logistical nightmare anyway, so we'll just have to keep on looking! Everyone stay alert though as this may be the week we DO start to get spoilers.

that is so wierd. Why would she say they already filed for a permit. Unless shes just trying to cover it up now that she leaked the beans haha.

If you were celebrating American history, where would you start an Amazing Race? It might not be in Boston city limits, but Boston's Logan Airport would definitely be involvevd. How about the Green at Lexington where the Redcoats vs. Patriots started the Revolutionary War on April 19, 1775. For those who know about it, this is why Patriots Day is held on April 19 in Massachusetts and the Boston Marathon is run on that day. Too late for that, but of course there is always today July 4. The alternate site would be Concord, where the second battle of the Revolutionary War took place hours later.

Since it is still July 4, I thought I would toss out a challenge related to this date in history. It is worthy of a Jeopardy final question:

Name the four U.S. Presidents who were either born on or died on July 4. For extra credit, what were the years for each one.

John Adams died on July 4, 1826, with his last words being "Thomas Jefferson lives." Sadly, a few hours ealier Thomas Jefferson had passed. The third would be James Monroe on July 4, 1831. Calvin Coolidge was born July 4, 1872.

How do I know this you ask??? I have my bachelors degree in history and am OBSESSED with the History Channel. I did have to look up the one who was born, I only knew the three who had died.

I only knew the Adams/Jeffereson ones thanks to the History channel (I think) about Adams Diary.  The other two had no idea.

wifeofUSMCsgt, congratulations, you win exactly what I won from naming the beginning of Amazing Race 8 as the tie to the Manhattan Bridge, a challenge posed in December by GeorgiaPeach. That is precisely nothing except the honor of being able to answer a very difficult question. I have known the three deaths that you did, but last night on the Chicago pre-fireworks show being televised nationally on UPN channels someone asked Lake Michigan area audience members who was born on the 4th of July. Nobody knew, so he gave the answer on TV. That's how I found out.

No one is interested in the Brunei info? Usually, whenever someone posts legit stuff they don't try to force it. Kind of like the Dustin/Kandice and Oswald/Danny in Hong Kong spoiler last season.

We'll keep it in mind KingCrimson88 for the future...really the filming in Brunei could be any future US tv show.

:waves: It might be TARA as well; the cutoff is tomorrow, so an August filming isn't out of the question.

I agree with SLOWHATCH. There is a higher probability that something in Brunei in August is for Amazing Race Asia 2 than it is for Amazing Race 12.

Does TAR usually begin filming on Monday or Tuesday - or can it be any day?
