Denise Jackson, A Former Crack Baby On American Idol 6
Sixteen year old Denise Jackson was the first singer to make it through to Hollywood on the American Idol 6 premiere.  Denise was from Madison, Wisconsin, and she revealed an inspiring background story.  Denise said that she had been born a crack baby and was going to be sent to a foster home, but her grandmother came and rescued her.

Perla Meneses, Once Homeless Now On American Idol 6
Ryan Seacrest said that Perla Meneses was prepared to flirt her way to Hollywood, and she told Ryan that she was wondering if he had a girlfriend.  Perla asked Ryan if he liked Spanish girls, and he said “yes.”  However, Ryan took offense to Perla saying they were both kind of short, and he responded that she was short and he was average

Jarrod Fowler, A Navy Intelligence Specialist On American Idol 6
Jarrod Fowler is an intelligence specialist in the U.S. Navy.  Jarrod is stationed on the USS Ronald Reagan out in San Diego, California. Jarrod’s hometown is Peoria, Arizona.  Jarrod’s ship held a sixteen week competition called “Reagan Idol,” and Jarrod won, which brought up his self confidence to audition for the real American Idol.

Michelle Steingas, Confident But Not Precocious On American Idol 6
Nineteen year old Michelle Steingas from Exclesior, Minnesota sang Deana Carter’s “If This Is Love.  Jewel said “So you like country music, that sounded a little bit country. I thought it was pretty good, [turning to Randy] did you hate it?”  Randy Jackson said, “No, I actually liked your voice, when it got going.”

Matt Sato Makes His Mom Proud On American Idol 6
Matt Sato told the camera that unlike many of the other contestants who had their parents with them for support that his mom and stepfather weren’t there with him.  Ryan Seacrest asked Matt why his parents weren’t supportive of him being there, and Matt responded, “Throughout the years, I’ve found a lot of financial issues with performing, and the money it cost to be in show choir at my high school, and go places and travel around for national competitions, it adds up.”

Nineteen year old Sarah Krueger from Eau Claire, Wisconsin sang “Somewhere Over The Rainbow.”  Paul Abdul said “Very nice.”  Simon Cowell said “Very good, Sarah.  You’ve got a lot of control over your voice, you look great, very good.”
