Title: 'American Idol 5' winner Taylor Hicks' first single to debut at No. 1

The fifth "American Idol" winner Taylor Hicks' single "Do I Make You Proud" will debut on the top of the Billboard Hot 100.

The Alabama native sold 190,000 physical singles and another 38,000 digital downloads, Billboard.com reported Wednesday.

Three previous "Idol" winners have also held the top spot on the Hot 100 chart. Carrie Underwood with "Inside Your Heaven", Fantasia Barrino with "I Believe," and Kelly Clarkson with "A Moment Like This."

I've downloaded that song plus "taking it to the streets" that he does onto my ipod.  I love it and him :hearts: :hrt:

why did he win. i may have stoped watching in all but i did hear singing and i hated it. i think chris d. should have won. and or ace young. i can't remember who the other people was since i got bored and stoped watching. + i didn't have time to watch cause i work when its on.

Each to their own likes/dislikes, but I happen to love Taylor!!  :hugs:  :tup:
I appreciate him not only for a great singer but a really great person!  He's doing very good in his career and I'm verrry happy for him.  I'm also happy for Kat, Kellie Pickler, Chris and Elliott, all of whom I would've been equally happy if any of them had won!!  :jam:
I wish ALL of them the best of luck in their lives....

Oh, and the reason Taylor won is b/c AMERICA loved him and gave him the most votes!  He won fairly!! :)  :ya3:
