Deciding to go for the FF???? So far, E/J, Raylonda and D/L are the only ones not shown doing a detour or roadblock. And you would need to be near the front of the pack to risk going for it.

I may be able to get some times for some of the shots. It will help to have some tourist type photos for pinpointing locations and camera points of view. I already see a good shadow in the background of that gate. Except that shot does not have racers in it.

I'm curious to find where the kayak-polo roadblock is located. I can't find any waterways like that on google earth. Perhaps it's not in Catania but on the way there.BTW, Lake and Michelle are seen in two different sets of clothes so I don't think this is one long day.(recycled photo)
Draped with ivy, and overlooked by a ring of 17th-century buildings and apartments, this charming theater at Via Vittorio Emanuele 260 is an ancient oasis concealed in the midst of an urban neighborhood. During classical times, it held as many as 17,000 spectators for plays and -- to a lesser extent -- water games, when boats would float on waters funneled in from then-nearby streams and aqueducts. It was also a site for gladiator contests. Ironically, part of the theater's graceful crescent-shaped seating structure is blocked by a black-lava bridge added during the early 17th century as the base for the since-demolished Via Grotte, once a densely populated street within this residential neighborhood.
A smaller theater, the Odeon, is accessible near the back side of the Roman theater. To reach it, follow signs from the theater and walk uphill through some tunnels and steep vaulted stairs.

The way the promo is edited, my hunch is that the little inlet (with the two bridges) is the location of the kayak task. Like Sups, I've GE'd Catania, Palermo, Messina, Siracusa, etc., with no luck. It's still a bit of a puzzle.
For the site of the canoe polo road block, try the town of Siracusa. This town is south of Catania and boasts world champion canoe polo team. A quick Google Earth (love this program) search shows a canal like area on a penisula of downtown Siracusa.

If the arrow points to where Lake is standing, is that the roof of a building or a parking lot. If it is at ground level, it would not be possible to get the shot of Lake with the top of the building even with his head. He must be on top of some structure to get the shot shown. In the other shot of the Camera di Commercio it looks like a piazza is in front of the building.

Google sure is a lot of fun, RJ. You can usually Google the addresses in a search engine and later find the street name on Google Earth. Try checking the little box at the bottom of GE that says "Roads", and the street names may overlay on the GE picture. After that it's just hit and miss, and hours and hours of mind numbing searching. :lol:

He's standing right here (black arrow) in the "post race confessional building behind Lake" photo (and not the "shirtless Lake standing by the kayak roadblock" photo).
That makes sense now, can we identify the building? Is it perhaps the hotel they will be spending their 12 hour mandatory rest period in? That's where the confessionals usually take place.

The entire promo at end of Survivor tonight was to plug the change in day and time. Starting next week TAR will be on WEDNESDAY at 8:00PM. Softer competition at the new hour, and may pull in people (very young and very old) who find the 10:00PM hour too late to watch.

3. New scenes of Jeremy picking up swordfish with Green Shirt of Eric just on the frame line; Scene of Eric and Jeremy walking down street lined with fish stalls, which changes as the title is supered to show MO/JO coming down the same street.
4. Scene of Yolanda struggling with fish. This task should be a snap for Ray who carried a 110 pound bell of the stairs and across the plaza to the church with any help.
5. We now have confirmed six teams doing the DETOUR:
Looking again at the commercials in the light of day (the real ones!) it almost shows clearly that some teams are approaching the fish market when it is still fairly early in the day. Note the scenes of Ray and Yolanda on the street with very long shadows and with the sun in their faces; the shot of Yolanda carrying the swordfish and the sun is shining right into her eyes; the silhouette of two people carrying swordfish which appear to be the Hippies, with again very long low angle shadows, and finally the scene of Eric and Jeremy (not the first one when they are running around a black, stone wall, but the one at the gate) you can see that the "park, square, piazza, whatever) is in shadow and the sun is coming from the left and lights the building up to the right completely. So the boys must be at the gate on the north side looking south with the sun coming from the east.
The only way as far as I can determine for all these teams, especially Rayanda who arrived at the pit stop at about 7:00PM, to get to Catania while it is still early or mid-morning is to fly there from Palermo or Trapani. Most likely by pre-arranged charter flights scheduled by TPTB to leave at pre-determined hours of 6:00, 7:00 and 8:00AM. This would bunch the teams up somewhat with BJ/Tyler, Eric/Jeremy and MO/JO on the first flight; Fran/Barry, Lake/Michelle, on the second flight and Dave/Lori and Ray/Yolanda on the last flight.
There is still another possibility, way out but not out of all possibility, is that the teams have to drive somewhere else first, this could be around Mt. Etna, or in Agrigento, or Villa Imperiale del Casale, do tasks we have no knowledge of and then continue on to Catania and are all bunched up waiting for the fish market to open at 5:00AM. Thus they have to spend another night sleeping in the open and leads to someone saying "Sleep Deprivation is Really Starting to Irritate Me!"

We now have good shots of Eric and Jeremy at the Roman Amphitheatre in Piazza Stesicoro; Eric is carrying yellow clue enverlope and starts to turn away from the gate while Jeremy seems to go throuh the gate and start to descend some steps. Their reaction is that they are looking for something and the Piazza Stesicoro is not the right place. But in another shot, which seems to be earlier in time, both Eric and Jeremy are shown running around the corner of a black (volcanic?) stone wall. Neither one is carrying a clue envelope and neither one has a TAR fanny pack either (nor are they wearing their backpacks). So where are they? Where do they go first before the Piazza Stgesicoro? Or is the black wall part of the Roman Amphitheatre which is not shown in the overall shot of the piazza which has been shown seperately? The time for both shots seems to be early morning just after sunrise.

I posted some pics of the amphitheater a few pages back. These look like the same place to me. Note the railing up top, the palm tree and the same type crumbling walls.

I don't know what's going on either. According to GE it should be a straight shot: down the hill on Etnea from the ruins (we get to hear Phil say "am-pee-theater" again), through the piazzas and into the alley (Puddin's upper-level photo) that leads to the fish market. Instead, the nerds are hanging a left at Giuliano (second arrow). There might be a different task, or maybe they're getting lost.

Wow, I think I got a "hat trick" tonight. I may have found the street name and location where Dave & Lori are running. It looks like the intersection of Via Antonino di Sangiuliano and Via Etnea. Dave & Lori are runniing north on Via Etnea towards the Piazza Stesicoro (amphitheatre).
I've attached an older view of the corner, plus a Google Earth view.

OK, confusion rules! I've been saving the "doomsday" option for just such an occasion. According to the composite picture I crafted from photos on the web, the "Frette" store is described to be on the Northwest corner of Quattro Conti in the Palazzo S. Demetrio (see composite photo below). The same photo shows the southwest corner, the Via Antonino di Sangiuliano (west) between them and the Via Etnea going off to the right (north). Talk about confusion.
I am just the messenger, so don't blame me for what I find on the web. So if D&L are seen by the Frette sign, then they have already crossed Via Antoninno and are on the northwest corner of Quattro Conti. (Don't know why, and frankly, don't care). Here we go again. :knuckles:

I didn't see Lake/Michelle, or was I getting Michelle confused with Monica? Maybe the FF is next week, and either D/L or L/M go for it? Though it's hard for me to imagine that one of the front-running teams wouldn't go for it.

I just wondered if L/M were MIA from next week too..I didn't see Lake/Michelle, or was I getting Michelle confused with Monica? Maybe the FF is next week, and either D/L or L/M go for it? Though it's hard for me to imagine that one of the front-running teams wouldn't go for it.
We have scenes of Michelle and Lake doing the CARRY DETOUR. We have scenes of Lake rooting on Michelle in the kayak during the ROADBLOCK. We have scenes of both Mo and Jo doing the CARRY DETOUR. The team that has not been seen at all except for one street scene are The Nerds. So if anyone is going to do a FAST FORWARD, the only team that would do it would be David and Lori

Well, BJ & Tyler's check in time of 2:29 pm is kind of close to the late side of the range I estimated (1:24 to 2:22 pm) for Eric & Jeremy on the path up to the theater. That was shot when Eric & Jeremy spotted BJ & Tyler going up the hill of the Temple.
I should be able to do it. I saw the good shadows. I'm trying to get this HDTV card working right so I haven't been a good detective lately. :'(
