 :lolCX: ^^^ ITS NOT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

PREVIOUSLY ON .. THE AMAZING RACE:

Phil: Ten families of 4 left NYC and raced for $1 million. The Paolos got lost at home territory. At the 1st Detour, the Weavers had a close call. Tony Aiello and his sons-in-law struggled. The Gaghans pulled ahead, and the Linz siblings fell behind. In the end, the Godlewski sisters triumphed. The Black family was the first eliminated.

Leg 2, Washington DC where the Gaghans wandered aimlessly for hours. The Paolos argued, and the Rogers drove in the wrong direction. Son Brock got blamed. Families did a Civil War reenactment. Wally Bransen couldn't keep up with his daughters, while the Weavers fought to the front. Megan Linz slowed down her brothers, but the Rogers lost the battle and were eliminated.

On the next leg, teams questioned the Weavers' "crazy" behavior. In a SCarolina detour, the Paolos got stuck, and the Gaghans surged ahead. The Aiellos landed last. In Alabama, teams pedaled around a speedway. The Weavers, whose father was killed at a racetrack, balked, but Mom got them to the finish. Stassi broke down after arguing for directions as the Schroeders got lost in their home state of Louisiana. The Linz got an eyeful (MOON!) from the Bransens. The Schroeders were eliminated.

In Panama, the Weavers incited the Linzes. On the FF, Marian Paolo's bravery helped DJ face fear of heights. Then, in Costa Rica, Paolos YIELDED the Weavers. "No one likes us!" While at the Roadblock, Tammy Gaghan searched in vain and fell to the back of the pack. A footrace for first, and Megan Linz failed to keep up. The Paolos were #1, and the Gaghans never caught up. An emotional farewell.

Families flew to Phoenix, AZ. Tommy Linz drove circles around the competition; the Weavers were nervous. Linda stepped up so her children didn't have to. Wally lost confidence, and then struggled to keep daughters on track. The Bransens survived, non-elimination. The 5 remaining teams took a flight. Megan Linz completed a loop in the air. Rolly Weaver excelled at yet another Roadblock, while Brian Paolo struggled. Then the NY'ers lost direction and fought to the finish, last, eliminated.

Teams raced to Monument Valley, UT, where the Linzes targeted the Weavers. "The witch and her 3 little monkeys! Somebody's gonna drop a house on her head!" YIELDED, but not eliminated. The next day, Weavers confronted the Linzes. Teams took ride in hot air balloons, and Wally finally showed his strength. The Godlewskis struggled to build a tepee. The Weavers were held up by the police but outlasted the Sisters.

Tonight, on a 2-hour Finale, one of these three teams will win $1 million as the winners of The Amazing Race.

Credits roll.

No more eliminations before the finish line !!

Phil: Eastern Montana, where cattle and sheep outnumber people. The Big Sky Country. This cattle ranch, the 11th pitstop in The Amazing Race. There are no more eliminations before the finish.

Will the Weavers continue to isolate themselves from the other teams?

Will the Linzes and Bransens continue friendships with $1MM on the line?

Bransen, 3:04 am, CLUE: Fly to Montreal, Canada.
Phil: They have tickets, but may seek a faster flight. They have to enter the Underground City, search tunnels, to the basement of the CVP Capital Building.
Title: Re: Final Episode play by play
Post by: puddin on December 13, 2005, 08:16:18 PM

Linz, 3:08 am, get CLUE, and depart.

Weaver, 4:02 am.
CLUE: Fly to Montreal, Canada.
Rolly: Canada!
Mom conf: I don't know how we're here! We just did it.
Rolly: Feels good to be underestimated.
Mom: Rolly has become the man of the family.

Billings Airport ...

Bransens get an earlier flight. Their arrival, thru MSP, will be 10 minutes earlier than the scheduled flight.

Linzes get on phones to seek earlier flights, are told there are no earlier flights. Their flight leaves 6:30 am.

Weavers arrive at the airport, dawn. Weavers take their scheduled flight.

Phil: All teams are now on their way to Montreal, with their first connection in Minneapolis.

Bransens verify in MSP that their flight will arrive 4:58 pm. The scheduled flight for the others, 5:10 arrival.

The Linzes see the Bransens and realize there is a different deal. But the Bransens take off, alone in their plane.

Linzes make alternate arrangements with Air Canada. They may arrive earlier.
Air Canada tells the Weavers there is nothing earlier.

In Toronto airport ...
FOOTRACE!!

Alex, Rolly, trip reaching for something ...
Mom: Don't touch him!
Mom, to daighter: It looked like (Alex) was going to grab his arm!
Alex: He's lucky I didn't break his arm. It felt like he grabbed my book bag. They suck.
Megan: They're rude, and obnoxious. It's getting personal. It wasn't before, but it is, now.

In Toronto Airport, the replay of the "alleged trip" and subsequent confessionals, as if we didn't have enough of that already.

Then, on to the show.

The Weavers ask politely, and get a 3:00 flight to Montreal.

Linzes don't know where the Weavers went.
Tommy: Little buggers!
Mom Weaver: We're on the 3:00, instead of the 4:00. Hopefully no more seats!
Linzes get more tix.
Both on same flight.

Phil: All teams are on their final flight to Montreal. The Linz and Weaver got the 4:00 arrival, the Bransens, the 4:58 (5:00) arrival.

They have to search the passageway to the Basement of the CVP Capital Building for their next clue

Detours Mc Gill or.............

In MTL, the CLUE: You have to take a taxi that will carry all 4 of you.

Weavers get Taxi Ted.
"Merci!" Well, it's better than the Spanglish ...
"Ted! You are the man!"
Mom Weaver shares the clue with Ted for interpretation.

Linzes get in a cab in 2nd.

In the air, Northwest, Bransens running LATE.
Pilot: We should arrive 5:25 pm.
Bransens grimace.

Mom Weaver asks the driver to wait.
Mom: Are you gonna wait? Look me in the eyes!
Driver: I'll wait but you gotta come back!
They escalate downwards.
CLUE: DETOUR.

Phil: Sliding, or Rolling?
Sliding, travel 22 miles to MacGill arena, engage in Curling. Glide a granite stone to a target known as the "house." Must total "4" for the next clue. Requires little strength, but lots of precision. Could take a while.

Rolling, 23 miles to Arboretum, use lumberjack tools to roll four logs across this course. Strong teams could finish quickly.

Weavers' taxi is there, and they're headed for MacGill.

Linzes miss the cluebox in the basement.

Arriving at the airport, Bransens realize they're late.

Weavers arrive on campus, and look for the rink.
Taximan: These doors are open.
Mom Weaver finds them chained!

Underground.
Linzes appear lost.
They run around some stairs, find another entrance ...
Alex: Sonofabitch!

Linzes re-walk the passageways. Finally they see the cluebox they walked right by.

DETOUR, they'll do curling.
Their taxi driver has no clue where to go!?

Bransens head for Underground.

Oh, my! The Weavers taxi driver took them to the wrong arena! BWAHAHA!

He calls, takes directions, brings the Weavers back to the right place.

Bransen conf: We hope somehow we'll get caught up again, but who knows?

Taxi driver "shuffleboard on ice" gives Weavers instructions as he drops them off.

CURLING: Weavers 1st, put on helmets.
Rebecca: We don't even know what ice is!!

Rachel sweeps, but their rock comes up several feet short.
Man: It's in play. You have to leave it.

Linzes arrive at the same locked arena as the Weavers first went to, are confused, but realize they're at the wrong place.

Bransens, underground, find DETOUR CLUE.

Second rock, Rebecca Weaver. It's on the board.
Each of them have to take a turn.

Title: Re: Final Episode play by play
Post by: puddin on December 13, 2005, 08:38:20 PM
Bransens choose logs.
"None of us are good on ice!"
Linda's first rock hits Rebecca's first, knocking it onto the score!
Then three!
Rolly's rock ... BULLSEYE! They have four.

CLUE: Montreal had a World Expo in 1967 ...
Phil: Buckminster Fuller built this structure, the American Pavilion. They have to climb an exterior staircase 5 stories for the next clue.
Mom: Ted! You're already getting directions! You're the man

Linzes on ice!
Alex .. a point!

Bransens, log #1 is difficult! (No stuff, homegirl! Logrolling ain't for lightweights!)

Ted: Excellent! Unbelievable! Yes! I'm a Christian!
Mom: We prayed for the right taxicab driver!
Ted: If you didn't get me, I dunno if you'd be on the rink yet!

Tommy Linz scores point #2.
Nick, #3.
Nick: I love this game! I'm moving to Canada!
Megan's up.

Bransens struggle on log 1, finally on to log 2.

Rebecca, seeing the Pavilion: It's crazy they built something that cool back in 1967!

Megan scores #4, and the Linzes are off to the Pavilion.
Nick: I"m going to build a curling rink in Cincinnati!

Mom and the kids thank Ted.
They look for the entrance to the structure.
"Base" of the structure.
Doors, locked.
Finally they find the base and ascend stairs.
They all race up, CLUE: Find the Porte J.
Phil :Six miles. This door, with the letter "J" painted on, has the next clue.

Mom: Go, Ted! You dropped us off right where we needed to be!
Ted: Of course!

Trying to impress their cabbie the Linzes out-ignoramusing the Weavers ...
Nick: Andale!
Megan: Andale is Spanish.
Nick: French!

... as the Bransens struggle with logs.

Wally: You guys are awesome!

Mom Weaver: Ted's the man! A blessing from heaven! I said, 'God, we need the right taxi driver. Send him to us.' And he did!

Linzes get more directions.

Wally: Control it on the other side.
It rolls sideways.
Wally fixes it back straight, and they have 3 of 4.
Finally! Number four!

Bransen, CLUE: Your next clue is on the fifth floor ...
Weavers find Dickson street, and they're looking for 2350.
That's it!
That's J!
"Thank you, Jesus!"
ROADBLOCK.
Phil: One person. Learn and successfully complete a "catch" on the flying trapeze.
Rolly's turn.
Man gives instructions, demonstrates.
Mom, whispering: Pray for him, Rachel!
Title: Re: Final Episode play by play
Post by: puddin on December 13, 2005, 08:53:11 PM
Linzes read clue as "Dickerson Street."
Cabbie corrects them. It's DICKSON.

Rolly climbs the skinny ladder.
Rolly: Is he a professional?
Man: Yes.
Mom: I'm nervous! My baby, swinging up high!
ROLLY DOES IT ON THE FIRST TRY!!
Mom: That's Amazing!

CLUE: Make your way to Parc Olympique.
Phil: Teams will use a golf cart to search for Stade Olympique. There's only 1 door they can drive through. At Centerfield, the next clue.

Linzes arrive at Trapezium.
Alex will fly.
Brother: Let's go, fatty!
First try, he misses and falls.
Megan: Come on, Alex!

Bransens arrive at the Pavilion, get CLUE.
Off they go, to search for the Porte J.

Ted drops the Weavers at their golf cart.
Mom: He's amazing!
Rachel: Bonjour!
Mom: Please, Lord, help us find our way in. Amen.
Mom tells kids to drive LEFT, because the RIGHT is more common. (Whatevia!)

Alex psyches up.
Megan: He's twice the size of the guy catching him!
Second attempt ... another miss.

Bransens, at Porte J.
Wally: We've caught up! Big time!
Megan: Alex! Do not miss again!
Alex: I cannot do this Roadblock.

 Alex tries again.
He takes off from the platform ...
A catch!
Linzes get CLUE, head for Parque Olympique.

Bransens and Linzes ask about the Weavers.
"We haven't seen 'em in a long time."

Mom discovers they've circled around one entire time, without finding an opening.

Megan mispronounces, saying "STAID" for "Stade."

Beth Bransen will fly.
Wally: Can you imagine if *I* did this!?
First time, caught! They run off toward the STADE.

The Weavers push a golfcart against a locked and barricaded door, seeing if it will open. BWAH!

At the Stadium ...
The Linzes and Bransens arrive at the same time.
Another contestant says "STAID."
"What's "STAID" mean!?"
Wally sprains his toe while driving. D'oh!
Mom Weaver finds an opening!!
They cheer wildly!
Rolly runs to the cluebox.
Weavers, CLUE: Three departure times from the stadium.
Phil: Must search this 56,000 seat stadium for the three departure times. They don't have to take the first one they find, but they DO have to stick with the first one they TAKE.

Post by: puddin on December 13, 2005, 09:10:03 PM
Linzes and Bransens get CLUE, and lament the fact that the Weavers are there already.

The Weavers lament the fact that the task is unfair.

Rolly has a clue in hand. Apprently he left it back where he found it.

Wally: My toe is killing me!

Oops ... NO! The Weavers pay their taxi driver $40/hour and return to the stadium.

Megan realizes they, too, have to pay a taxi driver.

The Linzes and Weavers pass golf carts in the alleyway.
Linz: Good riddance to bad rubbish.
Mom W: They're just sore losers.

There are cots on the stadium turf.

Megan: We're both winning. They're not.
Bransen daughter: We'll help you take them down, honey!

Teams having all hell looking for clue boxes hidden behind seats.
Beth: Dad! You're holding us all up!
Wally: It's gonna take all frickin night. I'm gonna kiss somebody's ass!

Linzes think they've found a cluebox, and run for it across seats.
Rolly carries his sister.

The Linzes find one way up at the top of the stadium.

Bransen: Smokin' ass. Stair steppin' all night long.
Mom Weaver sits.
Mom: If it's that far ...
Rebecca sits.

Linz take 5:50 am Departure.

Teams discover the clues are on the BACKS of the chairs.
Rolly: Can we please go look up there!? You're walking around like zombies!

Linzes take a nap, having found a departure time.

Bransens: 5:45 am Departure. They're done looking.
Wally, joking: Let's hide it and keep looking!

Mom Weaver takes a nap.
Wally limps.
Weaver older sister calls the task "stupid."
Conf: Sis laments that Rolly "is like my Dad. We don't have the same kind of energy he does."

Seeing his sisters mentally defeated, and Mom exhausted, Rolly thinks they're finished.

Rolly fights back tears.
R: Please, Mom.
Sis: No. She's tired.
R: Can we please just go find it?
Finally Mom gets up and the kids split, looking through seats for the remaining clue.
Rebecca finds it.
5:55 am.
Mom: Thank God.

Weavers (somehow!) leave the stadium first, for the airport.
Bransens leave 2nd. Linzes leave 3rd.
Okay. The CHARTER PLANES leave at 5:45, 5:50 and 5:55.
Mom Weaver finds out they have the LAST departure.
She's none too happy about it.

Morning.
Prop jets fire up.
At 5:45, Bransens are happy to still be in it.

Linzes leave 2nd at 5:50.

Weavers, 5:55.
Mom: We're gonna give our very, very best! We can come back from this! I think we're gonna be the team to beat.

Phil: MYSTERY DESTINATION. Clue is on marked vehicles.

City Centre Airport, Toronto.

SUV, with CLUE: Make your way to La Toure CN (CN Tower.)
Phil: World's tallest building. Take the elevator to the uppermost observation deck. Find the next clue, using binoculars looking over the city.

The Weavers get to the SUV seconds before the Linzes, and stop for directions at a convenience mart.

Mom: We don't have any cash. When you give, it will be given back. I promise.

Man behind the counter GIVES them a map!
Elevator to the top, Bransens take binoculars.
One pair of binocs per team.
They have to search the entire city, from the air, for a TAR Flag.

The Linzes take binoculars ...

... and then the Weavers follow, close behind.
Rolly in elevator: You like your job, Alex?
Elevatorman: It has its ups and downs.

The Bransens and Linzes find the yellow marker. They head out, just as the Weavers arrive to the observation deck.
The Linzes saw it when the Bransens did.
The Weavers don't have any clue.
Mom: It's really frustrating.
Rolly takes the binoculars.
The other two teams descend the elevator.

The Bransens and Linzes head back to the SUVs.
They have to go to the marker site for the CLUE.
Mom takes the map.
Linzes, Bransens, spot the flag.
Footrace!

Linz/Bransen, CLUE: DETOUR.
Phil: Ship, or Shoe?
Ship: Sail across Toronto Harbor to the Kijana, climb to the top of a 100 foot mast, retrieve a flag for the next clue. Strong, gutsy teams will finish fast.

Linzes sail out to the Kijana.
Steering the sailboat is part of the challenge.
Nick steers.

Bransens will find the Bata Shoe Museum.

Weavers head for the sailboat.
They call the Linzes the "GI Joes."
Mom will steer the sailboat.

Bransens find the Shoe Museum.
There are women everywhere, some wearing shoes, some barefoot.
It looks like a giant dancefloor full of walking women!
Wally: Try this on, please?
Woman: Sorry. Not my shoe.

First at the tall ship, Linz.
Weavers seem to be close behind.
Man to Weavers: You're pretty much steering a perfect course.
Megan: That's HIGH! Omigod!
Alex heads up quickly, gets FLAG.
CLUE: Drive yourselves to the town of Queenston.
Phil: On the Canadian side of the Niagara Falls. They'll take a boat into the Niagara Whirlpool and grab a clue from this buoy.

Off they go, shrieking.
The Bransens close behind, choose a boat and depart.

Linz: The rapids, dude! Hold on!
Oh well, the season sucks, but the cinematography is great.

CLUE ... Linzes grab it: Cross the border to your final destination city, Lewiston NY.

Linzes turn the boat around, and the Bransens see them.
Linzes and Bransens share a quick hello.

Weavers arrive at Queenston Boat Ramp.
Linzes arrive at the boat ramp, run to CLUE: ROADBLOCK.
CLUE: Who paid attention in Geography?
Phil: One person has to use 71 jigsaw pieces to complete a map of Central and North America. Then, they can race to the finish line.

Three-sided obelisk lookin' thingy with map outlines ...
One side per team.
The first few pieces go together like clockwork.
Wally catching up.
Ladders now ... it's a huge puzzle.
Beth: Pick a big piece, Dad!
Wally: I'm looking!
Megan: A million dollars at stake!

Weavers shriek as the boat does a dipsy-doodle, then a u-turn. Rolly grabs the clue from the buoy.

Wally and Nick are neck-and-neck.
Nick: South Carolina? Where are you?
Nick politely puts it over Atlanta.
Wally puts Maine where it belongs.
Megan: It'll be close! That's for sure!
Wally, Mexico.
Nick, Tennessee.
Nick: Where's Ohio? I LIVE IN OHIO!!

If only we had known that a geography map was the last task -- there would have been no question that the Weasels came in last. Wonder how long it took them?  :)*

I would have been crapping my pants during that task.

That was a great last episode.  It was so intense.  Look how much they did in the last day and a half.
They flew from Montana to Minneapolis to Toronto to Montreal and then did all of those tasks, detours, and roadblocks.  Can you imagine how tired and hungry they were searching for the departure times in the Stadium?

The they had to sleep on a cot in the middle of the stadium, fly to Toronto before 6 am, do all of the stuff in Toronto, then go to the Niagara Falls, and then end it up with the geography puzzle.

It was just fantastic.  I enjoyed it tremendously. Ii only wish the other legs were half as intense.

Located in Atlantic Canada, the province is located above New Brunswick and Nova Scotia (both, I believe in purple). Shame on you, CBS.

Did the Bransens cross the finish line way behind the Linzes or was it a close race to the  mat?

I'm sorry Hi-Fi, i was pretty excited when I saw TAR9 pictures   :lolCX:

where did I leave off.......

Megan: I can smell the million dollars!
Bransens lament Dad's not done yet.
Nick hammers in the final states.
Wally smashes New York into place.
Nick slams Rhode Island.
Nick: I'm done!
Wally's done!
FOOTRACE to the AMAZING BATHMAT!
Nick: RUN!
Bransens run!
Linzes run!
Teams clap!
Equipment falls to the ground ...
A team arrives!

Phil: 25 DAYS, LINZ FAMILY, YOU ARE THE OFFICIAL WINNERS OF THE AMAZING RACE! CONGRATULATIONS! YOU HAVE WON 1 MILLION DOLLARS!

In second, the Bransens hit the Bathmat.
Phil: Bransen family, congratulations, you're the second team in The Amazing
Phil: Linzes, you don't care much about coming in first any other leg.
Linzes: This is for Mom and Dad and everybody at home. What an opportunity to pay back. I'm speechless.
Megan: I'm done running! I never again want to run, in my entire life!
Meg conf: I've proved to myself and to my family, I ran with the boys!

Linzes compliment the Bransens' competitiveness.
"I wish we could share this money with you."

Phil: Wally. You must be ...
Wally: They're great ladies. I'm so proud.
Everyone sheds a tear.
Wally conf: Such a great experience with the girls, we had it together.
Daughters: Our Dad is just an amazing person. Couldn't ask for anything else in a father. We've bonded with him. A great experience.
More tears ...

Weavers run to the Bathmat.
Rebecca: Come on, guys!
Phil: Weaver family, you're team #3.
Polite applause.
Phil: Linda, you must be proud.
Mom: So proud!
Phil: You got here, did very well, beat out some competitive teams. Tell me about the strength of your mother.
Mom: It was the strength of the kids.
Conf: Our Dad was our main leader. He isn't here. It was so special to know we can work together and do without him.
Mom: Rolly wouldn't let us give up. Rachel has her strength in the Lord.

Teams assembled.
Hugs, kisses all around.
Linz, final winners' confessional.

Group shot on the Bathmat.
Linz: WHODAT? WHODAT? WHODAT THINK THEY GONNA BEAT THEM LINZES? Nobody! We won a million dollars!

Phil voiceover, new scenes: Coming this February. Eleven teams of two. Fifty thousand miles.

Quick shots and quick confessionals of several teams.

Phil voiceover: This February! Don't miss the start of an all new AMAZING RACE!

So they did not go to Terrapin Point at all.  Big ol decoy there.

Yes, they took the jetboats straight to Joe Davis State Park.  Here is the dock there.

cross-posted on Realiiity

Just watched the Bransen interview on the CBS site. A couple interesting factoids:
* the stadium search took over 3 hours for them to find the departure clue
* the search for the flag from the CN Tower took nearly as long. In fact, the Linz family left thinking they had found it, and had to return for another look, and the Bransens were still looking.
* the shoe task took a lot less time than it looked. Lauren (I think) said because the shoe was so small, they only asked women with small feet to try it on.

You can also watch the final challenge between the Bransens and Weavers, vying to win the SUV (I think puddin put the link somewhere on this site)

In general, yes the Family edition was not as exciting as races past, but I still enjoyed it, and the finale was very satisfying. I would have been happy with either a Linz or Bransen victory, and was glad the Weavers came in last. Boy, did Ma Weaver ever look "rode hard, put away wet"!

Chateau,  Do you think that the finish line was roughly around your original guessed location (west of River Road)?

Good point!  I will have to check it out later on with Google Earth.  They never showed anyone going through that tunnel to the main part of the park.

Did you you see that the Weasels never did get wet in the jet boat as the preview had indicated (well I was fooled).

Some huge blocks of time are emerging in the interviews.  CN Tower searching  was 3 hours?  It looks like the flag they were looking for was over by The Docks.

Who made the call that teams would have to have chartered flights to make this fit?   =]/

The charter flights landed at the other airport in Toronto.  That could be why I never could find the SUV pick up location around Lester Pearson Airport.

And one more oddity:  I posted that the Curling was at McConnell Arena at McGill University.  Wrong.

But McConnell Arena was where both the Weasels and the Linzes went first!  So they were wrong too!  :grinC:

Thanks Puddin.

I think Niagara was right about the decoy teams on the Jet Boats.  For each ride there is a 'family' of four just sitting in the back.  But they are not anybody we would recognize.

One more thing: The Weasels were so far behind that they actually rode in the same boat (Leaping Lamb #5) as the Linzes. It was able to go back to its home dock.
