I think we have a theme here.  Office Chair (http://www.wlra.us/wl/wlofficechair.htm
).

Some info (http://www.jsu.edu/depart/library/graphic/alabama.htm)
Quote
The world's largest chair is located in Anniston, Alabama. "Civic pride pulls no punches in the giant chair battle. Not two, but fully five towns are involved, and at least four others joined the fight before being knocked out of the ring. The South watched and waited. Then, in the early eighties, Miller Office Supply of Anniston, AL, built a thirty-three-foot-tall office chair in a vacant lot next to its store. The chair was made of ten tons of steel, causing would-be vandals to throw up their crowbars in despair. It could withstand 85 mph winds and a special spiral staircase led to its seat. Here, at last, was a chair for the ages. It quickly became Anniston's landmark. The Chamber of Commerce flew visiting businessmen over it. But the nineties were not kind to Anniston. Miller's moved crosstown and put the vacant lot up for sale. The chair's staircase was removed. Its paint began to peel. And amid all this, rumors swirled of a Swiss chair -- larger than any built before."

Excellent work Chateau!  |#'

So wonder if they go to Anniston or Talledega first. They are only 20-25 miles apart. Bet they have to find the chair which will give them the clue to the racetrack. I can't wait till we get clips from this episode. My hubbys from Talledega and we go there a couple times a year for visits. We're hoping to recognize some sites. There really isn't too much there but if they go to Cheaha Mt. we'll recognize it.

Where are they supposedly going after Talledega? New Orleans I hope.

Is there more than one Cotton Blossom? Here's (http://www.cottonblossom.org/) one in Madisonville, LA that looks at lot like the Natchez.

Upon further review of the river pictures it definately looks like the Tchefuncte River to me. It's a beautiful river with lots of moss-draped trees. And, right there in Madisionville on the Tchefuncte is Fairview-Riverside State Park. Take a look at the boardwalk in the pic. Looks like a match to the one in vid. caps 18-22. If you look closely at pics 29 and 30 you'll see some Louisiana Bald Cypress trees in the water behind the big tree. Oh, and they have tent camping. Could this be a pitstop?

Can anyone enhance and read the highway sign in #36?

No wonder it looks like the Natchez. There are 5 "Cotton Blossom" boats listed, and one registered to a Frank Crain of Madisonville, who bought it from the New Orleans Steamboat Comp., operators of the Natchez.

Rob, over in the Ep3 thread:

Why do I think the producers have something to do with this?
BVM has already admitted in interviews that contestants and their histories play a role in race planning.
I just finished watching the CBS promo and Phil's "face their own worst fears" stuff. I'll hold off until I see it next week but right now it looks like really questionable taste.

No!  Too small.  But I think you are spot on with the location.

I think you nailed it supsandalee !!  |#' Plus its the perfect place for the teams to camp out  ;) , this has to be the Roadblock , right? So Phil is probably around the bend somewhere .
and as far as the sign in #36 all I get is a blurr ..sorry .

Just an obvious observation..the Bransens look like they might come in first , unless of course the Linzes are ahead of them ?? I wish that I could get some better quality vidcaps  :unde:

Good Job on the Steamboat ! Now we need weather forecasts for Alabama for those dates ! It looks like the Paolos are heading towards thunder .

How about actual weather for Anniston, Alabama!  :nods:

Here it is:

July 12, 2005
http://www.weatherunderground.com/history/airport/KANB/2005/7/12/DailyHistory.html?req_city=NA&req_state=NA&req_statename=NA
Sun Rise: 5:41am
Sun Set: 7:55pm

July 13, 2005

Sun Rise: 5:42am
Sun Set: 7:55pm

Now to compare to all those screen caps from the Speedway.  With such changing weather, it may not be too difficult to figure out who got there when.   :t-up:

July 12, 2005 - Anniston, Alabama

Sunrise to 12:04 - Mostly Cloudy or Overcast
12:35 to 2:19 - Thunderstorms  (This is the horrible looking storm in the background of the Paolo's pic #26)
2:19 to 2:53 - Light Rain
3:53 to Sunset - Clear

Paolo's (Pic's #26, #63, #66) are starting their task as the storm is coming in 12:00 -1:00ish?

Linz's (Pic #57) - it has already rained and is clear - so we know it is between 4:00 and 8:00.  Narrowing down, probably between 5:00 and 6:00.

Schroeder's ? (Pic #57) - The shadows look longer than the Linz's and are quite long, so after 6:00, maybe closer to 7:00.

Since I am new at this, I am more than glad for anyone to add, delete or fix anything here.

Off to look at more.........

... Early in the day, heading into the Big Easy.

Hopefully they are not heading into N.O. If they did they took a wrong turn (or the long way around) to get to Madisonville. They possibly took I-10 at Slidell and went through N.O. instead of going on I-12. That happened to us on senior trip but lack of sleep and booze was involved  {l{ If they did not go I-12 it costs them alot of time. The bridge you see going straight through the Ponchartrain is the causeway. It is a toll bridge, 24 miles long with no turnarounds.

There is a small stretch of I-10 near Biloxi that has nothing but water around. I'm hoping that is the shot. I like the sisters.

Sheesh,  any gas stations or rest stops along the way?

But I'm pretty sure about the direction because the sun is shining on the sobbing Godlewski's left arm (and she is on the left side of the SUV behind the driver--no image reversal).  The sunlight seems to be coming from in front of the car as opposed to from behind it.  Given the orientation of the bridge that all adds up to heading south in the first half of the day.

I think we are still looking for a Roadblock task because the Talledega lap was all-team.  Maybe there is more to come in NOLA.

Or maybe, like you say, the Godlewski's made a wrong turn.  That alone would explain all the drama in their car.

Nope, no gas stations or rest stops, just emergency vehichle turnaround. The I-10 twin span from Slidell is still heading south into N.O. This bridge is 10 miles with nothing but water around also. It is the one that you've seen destroyed in the Katrina pictures. I just don't think they would head south on the causeway without asking a toll attendant about where they were heading and I don't think they are supposed to head into N.O. YET! -- that should be episide 5. I think the drama is because they shouldn't be on either bridge!

Good to know.  We may be able to sort it out by checking the railing design, the columns, and the distance over to the other roadway going north.

We need some outside pix of the structures.  They have been in the news a lot so it should be easy.

Do a search for New Orleans Causeway and New Orleans Twin Span on Webshots. There are some very detailed pics of the causeway and it doesn't look like the Godlewski pics. The twin span doesn't look like it either but the pics aren't that detailed.

So it looks like this so far:

l. Drive from Huntsville to Anniston; find chair.

2. Drive from Anniston to outside Talladega on Route 20 and find the International Motorsports Hall of Fame

3. Drive to Talledega Motor Speedway (Team Roadblock - race around track)

4. Drive to Mandeville, LA (Detour: Blackjack or Lumberjack)

Now the question: Do teams camp out in the park and then start off the next day across Lake Pontchartrain, OR do they continue on across the lake on Wednesday, July 12 and reach a pitstop in New Orleans - Preservation Jazz Hall?

And keep in mind that the teams leave Huntsville after rest period between 2:30 and 4:30PM so they can't do all of this in one day while it is still light out. Here is another possiblity.

After completing tasks in Anniston and Talladega, they then camp out in Mandeville park and start Detour the following morning (July 13) and continue on to New Orleans for a task and then fly on to Beliz where we have them on July 14.

The International Motorsports Hall of Fame is located right next door to the Talladega Speedway so they won't have to drive far - they may even run. I estimate the drive from the speedway to Mandeville to be about 6-7 hours depending on how fast you drive. They have to have some kind of equilizer. Aren't the two sets at least 3 hours apart?

If you can catch the clip a nanosecond before yours you'll see a second tent to the left. Yes, these look like makeshift dressing rooms where they have to get and return the lumberjack or blackjack costumes. The shelters are already there, they just put material around it. This lumberjack pic shows a similar shelter in the background. Also is an actual picture from Fairview-Riverside park.

I've been looking at the scenes from Talladega Speedway again and it looks to me like it is pretty late in the day. Especially compared to the scenes from the park and lumberjack task.  So I now suspect that after the Talladega Speedway (watch out here comes my man DJ in the Big Brown Truck!!) the teams may camp out somewhere and then drive on to Mandaville, LA early the next day, especially if it takes around 7 or 8 hours to do the drive.  This would put them there around noon time.  Do the shadows seem right for this, Chateau?

And what is the bungaloo??

A CLOSE RACE TO THE PIT STOP FUELS AN INTENSE RIVALRY BETWEEN TWO FAMILIES, ON "THE AMAZING RACE: FAMILY EDITION," TUESDAY, OCT. 18 ON THE CBS TELEVISION NETWORK
"Think Like An Office Chair" -- A close race to the Pit Stop fuels an intense rivalry between two families, on THE AMAZING RACE: FAMILY EDITION, Tuesday, Oct. 18 (9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. Phil Keoghan is the host of the series.

The families depart from the Space Shuttle in Huntsville, Ala. in search of the World's Largest Office Chair located in Anniston, Ala. Teams will pass through the International Motorsports Hall of Fame and the Talladega Motor Speedway, as well as Fairview Riverside State Park in Madisonville, La., in search of clues that will lead them to their next destination. The intensity of the Race takes its toll on one family member who has a breakdown on the way to the Pit Stop. Another team is paralyzed by fear and panics about whether or not to complete a task. Also, while their cars race side by side on a stretch of highway, one team shows their wild side when they "moon" another team as they pass.

So no more guesswork: teams go from Huntsville to Anniston, to the International Motorsports Hall of Fame and Tallladega Motor Speedway, and then to Fairview Riverside State Park in Madisonville, LA.  It doesn't say when they will get to LA, but from the sun and shadows it certainly looks like noontime on July 13. So the actual pitstop could be later that day in New Orleans.  That would put them on schedule to fly on July 14 to Beliz.

The intensity of the Race takes its toll on one family member who has a breakdown on the way to the Pit Stop.

We see one of the Godlewski Sisters (Chris?) breaking down in the car, when on the causway crossing Lake P. then this is on the way to the pitstop. So we can assume that on the second day of this leg (July 13) the teams arrive at the Fairview Riverside Park from the overnight campout in Talladega (a 6 or 7 hour drive) , then the teams complete the DETOUR (Lumberjack or Blackjack) and then drive to the pit stop in New Orleans.

Then following TAR tradition the teams would proceed to do a task in New Orleans then drive to the airport and fly to Belize on July 14.

OR, they could do a task before the pitstop on the afternoon of July 13, and then go directly to the airport from the hotel in the morning. There are several flights leaving New Orleans for Belize between 5:30 and 8:30AM. Best flight leaves at 10:30AM.

I like the plan but only wonder why we don't get any shots of New Orleans? The Schroeders have a huge advantage here. Then again while on the shrimp boat Mrs. Schroeder asked, "are you going to show us how to take off their heads"? and I was thinking there is no way this woman is from New Orleans!!

so what happened to the Natchez?

Maybe they'll just pitstop there and they won't have any N.O. task until the next episode?? I hope so. I don't think Madisionville is any reason to go to La. I don't know what producers are thinking. There are so many uniquely La. things to do in the area and lumberjacking at a state park ain't one of them!

No. I think what Gaghan meant is that 2 groups finish the task before. The Weavers are still playing with the Gaghans so the Weavers are not the 2nd group.

The lumbers are: the pink ladies, the Linzes, & the Paolos.

So it has to be the Schroeders.

the Schroeders & the Bransens finish before the Gaghans so that's why she complains.

Is the pic labeled the Schroeders (sawing) actually the Linz's?

Puddin, I have to agree with Banzi (with the expanded pics) and say it's the Linz's sawing and not the Schroeders. So they show no shots at the park of the Schroeders, eh? Maybe they're already heading to New Orleans. They should know the shortest routes.

But Banzai posted this pic and you can see the 4th person. There are a minimum of 2 adult males (and probably a 3rd) which means it can't be the Schroders. I went back and looked for red shorts (bet you did too).  8-)' Guess those backpacks hold more clothes than we think. I didn't see them on any Linz's but I didn't see them on Schroeders either.

Survivors of this leg:
1. The Linzes based on the betting spoiler
2. the pink ladies based on that Niagra spoiler
3. the Bransens finish the gambling task before the Weavers and maybe they're responsible for next week episode title
4. the Schroeders finish before the Bransens

battle for the pitstop are the Paolos, the Gaghans, and the Weavers

It's time to introduce the Yield to the new Nielsen families.

Chateau, each side of the causeway was built years apart and do not look the same. The southbound bridge is older and has that pole rail running across the top and the northbound bridge is solid. I was looking at the Godlewski pictures all wrong and thought all the background bridge were one and not a separate northbound lane. Makes more sense to me now. Below is a pic of the causeway looking northbound.

Just want to clear up our time line:

Afternoon of July 12 (between 2:00 and 4:30PM) teams leave Huntsville; proceed to Anniston (84 miles); proceed to Talladega (20 miles);Talladega Speedway gig - watch out for the Big Brown Truck!);  camp out or stay in trailors for the night. Weather is cloudy and/or raining most of the time. Shadows on Talledega Speedway (when the sun is out) are quite long and suggest late afternoon.

Morning of July 13 teams leave Talladegda Campout and proceed to Madisonville, LA (365 miles); Detour task in Fairview Riverside State Park: Lumberjack or Blackjack; proceed to New Orleans across Lake Pontchartrain on the Causeway (which is betwen Madisonville and Mandeville); Roadblock task in New Orleans (Preservation Hall Jazz or Bourbon Street) proceed to RiverBoat Nanchez for Pit Stop.

Early Morning of July 14 proceed to New Orleans Airport and catch flight to Belize (first flights leave at 5:59AM -American flight arrives at 11:14AM; and at 6:00AM - Continental flight arrives 10:54AM))

Wow, great shot Supsandalee!

I just reviewed the preview from Tuesday night and at the very very end they show the sobbing Godlewski at an angle that points out her window.

This is what we see:  1) The rail.  2) The bridge that goes in  the other direction having no rail.  And it is constructed with triple 55" pilings exactly as shown in your photo.  See that the south bound direction is constructed with only double 55" pilings.

So they are definitely on the south bound Causeway over Lake Pontchartrain.

Going to New Orleans.   |#'

Good question. There was never enough resolution to read the side banner of the boat on the vidcap. Is that the Natchez or the Cotton Blossom we're looking at in the intros? As I wrote before, the Natchez and its sister ship the CB were at one time owned by the same company, and they do look very similar (http://www.cottonblossom.org). More questions:

As I wrote before, the Natchez and its sister ship the CB were at one time owned by the same company, and they do look very similar (http://www.cottonblossom.org). More questions:
  • Would the producers put two riverboats so close together in the storyline?
  • (supsandalee would know this better than anybody) Would the CB be able to sail to the other side of NO to be pictured next to the CCC bridge?
  • Would the producers throw in video of the Natchez, even though it wasn't used by the racers, because it's a better looking ship (I agree with Puddin, the CB looks dilapidated)?

It's most definately the Natchez in the intros. It's a much larger vessel (tripple decker) and is permanently located in downtown N.O. with daily river cruises. I doubt the old Cotton Blossom could withstand the Mississippi currents.

I don't know why they would use two riverboats. I like the idea of the Natchez being the pitstop though.

I bet the paddle wheel does not even go around during the episode.  They probably tug boated it into position.  The interior shots show a very sad decor.  Really low pressed tin ceiling.  Pressed tin is good (typical of the old days) but the way it is so low shows that it was added in a cheap makeover.  Good call Puddin.

I listened (with my eyes closed) and heard "you want to go then and do the cards" and sounds like the same voice as Gaghan mom saying we've already wasted so much time here. I don't here the word "back".

The best part of the video is the way the Paolo boy says "and you just gave me a PAPER CUT!" It's hilarious. If this video doesn't make people want to watch I don't know what will. How fun is this show!!!

She does say they already won 2 groups. I was wondering if the teams had to get 21 before completing the task or how it was going to work. Also, you don't think the lumberjacks are going to have to cut 21 pieces of wood do you?  That's alot. The Godlewski's might have a hard time with that task.

Ya'll still think the mystery lumberjacks are the Schroeders? I'm still leaning towards to the Linzs. They all look like full sized adults and the Schroeder boy is 15. Also, the one in the long pants just can't be female??? I thought I could get it with the brown tennis shoes but both Schroeder dad and two of the Linzs brothers have brown tennis shoes. Hey, guys we are really putting this one together in record time (no hunting for strange looking mountains in China!!). Can we make a final determination of which teams are doing the LUMBERJACK DETOUR and who is doing the BLACKJACK DETOUR?

I think that the quad-bike gig at the Talledega Speedway is a team task and will determine what time the leave the next day for the race to Fairview Riverside State Park on the morning of July 13.

I think that the ROADBLOCK for this leg will be completed in New Orleans and will give up the clue for the race to the Pit Stop. From the sound of the previews this should be an elimination point.  I think TPTB wanted to reduce the teams to a manageable number of players before heading overseas.  With an elimination in New Orleans, this would leave only 6 teams (7 if you count the mystery team) to go on to Belize.

Gman ..I posted this in another thread ..do you know the link or source for the "Montreal (team with adult and three children spotted but not further identified."
spoiler ?

From some pretty reliable spoiler information posted on various boards since July 7 it now looks like all TEN teams make it to Huntsville, Alambama (NASA space camp?) at the end of which will be the FIRSTelimination. So that is going to be a douzzy of an opening show on September 27: New York, New Jersey, Washington, DC, South Carolina to Huntsville, Alabama!

From the descriptions and other pretty reliable sightings in Toronto and Montreal it looks like the four Godlewski Sisters make it that far (a team of four girls was spotted in downtown Toronoto) and either the Weavers or Bransens also make it to Montreal (team with adult and three children spotted but not further identified.) Also it looks like the Black Family does not make it to the final five (all white familes supposedly spotted.)

Lumberjack: Paolos, Godlewskis, Linzs
Unseen: Schroeders

In Madisonville they'll probbly get a clue that says to make your way to (insert any number of New Orleans landmarks here). Jackson Square is very well known and only two blocks from preservation hall. There are tons of artists and street performers around the perimeter of Jackson Square. Maybe matching something up with one of them could be a task???

I think that the ROADBLOCK for this leg will be completed in New Orleans and will give up the clue for the race to the Pit Stop.

That makes sense. A Roadblock after a Detour. The big chair task looks like the big house task. And the bicycle task doesn't look like a Roadblock.

20. (http://img11.imageshack.us/img11/4035/tar920jazz3xz.th.jpg) (http://img11.imageshack.us/my.php?image=tar920jazz3xz.jpg) Maybe the Roadblock is at the Preservation Hall (http://www.preservationhall.com/2.0/) in New Orleans. They have to find the right jazzman to match with the one in the given photo.
And then, the Natchez is the Pitstop.

edit: and there's a Yield before a Roadblock. Maybe that's why 1 family was pissed on the way to the Pitstop.

After lengthy discussion what looked like the Schroeders doing the Lumberjack are actually the Linzs. Of course, it isn't concrete but it's much more likely to be the Linzs.

I don't see how the Schroeders can get lost and come in last when they are driving to their home state and possibly a pitstop in their hometown. Char works at the Ritz Carlton on Canal Street (and 9 blocks from the river) and would be VERY familiar with downtown New Orleans.

Of course they didn't show us any clips of the Godlewskis last episode and it didn't mean a thing.

but but but  8-)' ?? OK maybe they get lost on their way to Talladega or they don't do so well in the Lumberjack/Blackjack task?  :)* The webteaser about 2 rival teams racing to the pitstop , whether B/S or not screams Schroeders & Weavers to me .. or Weavers and ?? according to the Aiello's the Weavers didn't get along with any of the teams ..maybe the heavy Weaver editing because their next ? or are the Weavers really getting the final 4 editing?

Who knows at this point. I think the Godlewskis do poorly at Lumberjack and watch all the other teams leave the park before them. That's why all the conflict on the road to New Orleans? If this does turn out to be the first FF episode it's the Schroeders for sure. I'm hoping for some newer previews -- hopefully with some signs of New Orleans.

You know that preview clip where the Paolo baby with pubic hair cries about a paper cut?

I think CBS is metering out sour moments with the Paolos because in that shot they have the spy briefcase from Ep 2.

I doubt they would bring it with them to Talladega.  Recycled.   :(*8

But in the clip mom Paolo is saying, "Anniston, Anni" when she hits him with the clue and they are wearing the same clothes you see them in at the race track. But the briefcase thing ... I don't know why that's there or how it would come into play. Maybe they got another one??

Puddin, this is what we've got on the timeline

Quote
Tues July 12, Buses arrive in Huntsville 12 to 2 am, teams start tasks at USSRC 1 to 3 am, teams finish tasks Leg 3 ends, 2 to 4 am, 12 hour pit stop.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Leg 4 starts 2 to 4 pm, teams drive to Anniston, Talladega AL. evening storms confirmed by Weather Underground (Kraziladi), Suspected campout or use of trailers overnight

Suspandalee, The 'get out there' jingled  to mind as I picked the photo in the avitar.  I love to travel but don't get to do it enough.  The picture is the view from a place I stayed a few summers ago.  Anybody  know it?  :nods:

Starting with this:  Teams see this sign on the way in so I 'm going to use the North Tunnel as the location where the linzs emerge from the tunnel.

Here is the map of the race track (http://www.talladegasuperspeedway.com/uploads/assets/seating/tss_2005_facility.pdf).

I circled where I think this is in the Global Ex shot.

Sun Earth Moon Applet comes up with 5:30 pm.

Boy these times can't be right. By my poor math estimates this has the teams driving about 40 mph from Huntsville to Anniston. It is a race afterall!! I'd probably make that drive in 1 1/2 hours without being in a race. Anniston to the Motorsports Hall of Fame shouldn't take more than 20-30 minutes. It's right off I-20 and not all the way down to Talladega. Besides, sunset was 7:55 p.m. and these times would have the Weavers, Gaghans and Paolos not arriving to the track until 7:30 p.m.

On another note, how the heck do the two sets of teams who are at least 2 hours apart get equilized before getting to Madisonville? At first I thought maybe they drove there the same night but had to wait for the park to open the next morning.

Your picture looks famaliar Chateau ..but like you my PC is slow tonight ( IE problems ?) or else I'd search for it   :cheeky: . Like you I love to travel but not as much as I want ..therefore my love of the Amazing Race and traveling through the Racers eyes  {| . Your from Calif . right Chateau ? Your so lucky !! Our next trip isn't for awhile but were leaning towards Las Vegas but now that I see Wyoming Im thinking ohhhhhhh its So Beautiful!! Love those mountains !!
and thanks for correcting me on the time-line .. obviously I was confused   8-)'

Just to add , in the Pink lady pic at the track the ground is still wet .. don't know if it matters  but it could be raining at one end of the track and the sun can be shining at the other end  . This happens at pocono, a 2.5 mile track, all the time .

I'm from SoCal as well, so I'm not the best judge of this, but I've got to think the threat of lightning was a factor in the schedule. The skies in the vidcaps look dark, and the bicycles and office chair are both big piles of metal; the producers might have juggled the schedule to keep the racers out of danger.

According to Weather Underground  (http://www.wunderground.com/history/airport/KANB/2005/7/12/DailyHistory.html) (in nearby Anniston) there were thunderstorms and about an inch of rain earlier in the day.

So when did those Paolos get there?    *(^

Do the Paolo's get to the track first  |#' , ? ..I have to confess they are growing on me and i'm not ready for them to leave yet  *8/

Trying to get some things in order before we try to complete Puzzle No. 4.

Teams arrive in Huntsville in two groups, two hours apart.  Looks like no great difference in the four teams completing the three tasks: Find the centrifuge; ride the centrifuge; fiind the computer; get thee to the pit stop.  The difference between teams is the time spent on the centrifuge - the greatest bunch point of all bunch points.  So the first group arriving at 12Midnight includes Bransen, Linz, Schroeder and Godlewski families. At the most give them 2 hours to do this so they arrive at the pit stop in that order by 2AM.

Second group, Weaver, Paolo, Gaghand and Aiello families arrive at 2:00AM and complete tasks by 4:00AM (Aiellos eliminated)

Therefore the first groups leave the pit stop starting at 2:00PM and drive to Anniston (1.5 to 2 hours) and then on to Talledega Museum and Speedway (.5 hour). So they should be completing their tasks there between 4:30 and 5:00PM

Second groups leave the pit stop ending at 4:00PM (times of departures between 2:00PM and 4:00PM given by spoiler from Huntsville). So following the same pattern as the first group they should be completing their tasks by 7:00PM.

Now do the shadows, rain, thunderstorm times fit the above scheme? Of course, we know that at least one team is going to get lost and be later than anticipated.

If all the teams get to the overnight campout, they would be leaving for Fairview Riverside Park between 5 and 7AM which would bring them there (again assuming that they can read maps correctly which may be too much to ask these blockheads) between 10 and 11AM.

Looking ahead to the afternoon of July 14 in New Orleans.  Roadblock time?  And time once again  for the God-awful, terrible food challenge?  TAR5 - Leg 4 St.Petersburg Caviar; TAR6 -Leg 6 Budapest Spicey Soup; TAR7 - Leg 3 Mendoza Charascariea Meat Challenge.

New Orleans is well known for its marvelous food: Jumbalia; Gumbo; Oysters Rockefeller; not to mention Bananas Foster!

Looking ahead to the afternoon of July 14 in New Orleans.  Roadblock time?  And time once again  for the God-awful, terrible food challenge?  TAR5 - Leg 4 St.Petersburg Caviar; TAR6 -Leg 6 Budapest Spicy Soup; TAR7 - Leg 3 Mendoza Charascariea Meat Challenge. New Orleans is well known for its marvelous food: Jumbalia; Gumbo; Oysters Rockefeller; not to mention Bananas Foster!

The only thing that doesn't compute in the timeline is that the Weavers are in the second group and should be 2 hours behind the first. At Fairview-Riverside State Park the Weaver kid is getting to the changing tent as the Bransens are leaving. Did the producers somehow equalize the groups reducing the 2 hour difference?

Ah, a food challenge in New Orleans. The only food that I would think would be questionable to eat would be raw oysters. I'm from the area and won't touch them. Maybe they'll go to the famous Acme Oyster House for an eating challenge. Then again they might save the food challenge for a more exotic location in central America and have them eat something really hot.

Title: Re: EP 4 Title~' Think Like an Office Chair '
Post by: gingerman28 on October 16, 2005, 05:30:36 PM
First things first:

The CBS Sunday Morning program today DID NOT mention that they would have the next booted family on the progam on Wednesday; only the next survivor boots (2) on Friday.  In the past, whenever there is a eliminated family from TAR it is promoed on the Sunday Mornin Program.  So the listing from Wednesday posted above may only be the usual speculation of what usually happens but MAY NOT happen this week.  Leg 4 is early for a NEL but this TAR is full of surprises!!

NOW SOME UPDATES ON THE TIME LINE.

Based on what I saw on the two TAR commercials on CBS today I would like to speculate on the following (please, ya'll pick it all apart)

1.  The Bransens and the Linz are in the first group to leave the Huntsville pitstop (Huntsville Marriotte Hotel) probably around 2:00 or 2:30PM. I think that they are only as far apart as the time it took to reach 3.2Gs in the Centrifuge.

2.  They get to Anniston and then on to Talledega about the same time (both teams read maps well and drive as fast as they can)

3.  Both teams are seen on the Talledega Speedway in the bicycle-thing at about the same time. Sun is out, track is dry, and shadows are fairly long so it is getting late in the afternoon.

4.  At the completion of the circuit around the track (2.4 miles) they receive a clue which directs them to some sort of campgrounds, trailer park, or whatever between Talledega and Fairview Riverside Park.  This spot could be down route Interstate 65 which leads to Interstate 10 which takes you right to Mandeville and the Park. Upon arrival they have pick of trailer and each trailer has a departure time for the next morning associated with it. Perhaps three are departure times each 30 minutes apart.  This has been done previously on many TARs. This accounts for the bunching of the teams so that the Weavers and Gaghans could only be one hour behind the next morning at the most.

5.  After the Talledega Speedway gig, we have a very nice sequence (looks very much like an Interstate from the signage seen through the Linz car window.) in which one of the Bransen girls (green tank top) is shown mooning the Linz boys. Later we see the Linz girl laughing about it and it is now dark at night.  Then we have scene of both the Linz boys and Papa Bransen and one of the girls with white tank top (not the mooner) laughing it up in front of the trailers. Now looks quite late at night. So it looks like these two teams are cruising down toward the overnight together as they have been ever since leaving Huntsville.

6. This bunching at the overnight stop (not a pit stop) accounts for a shorter drive in the morning (perhaps 3 or 4 hours instead of 6 or 7) and accounts for all seven teams coming to the Riverside Park in the same time frame.

7.  Finally, the Schroeders are still missing.

The weather underground  (http://www.wunderground.com/history/airport/KANB/2005/7/12/DailyHistory.html) site says there is clouds and rain again (in Anniston) at 8:53 pm (sun set at about 8:00 pm).  So the storm when Paolos are there should be this later one.

Another possible sorting mechanism could be the teams performance times on the lap of the race track.  Fastest time gets the earliest departure from the trailers.

G-Man that is a wonderful analysis and makes things fit together nicely.  |#'

Puddin, the sisters are wearing the bandannas after their detour at Riverside-Fairview Park and on the causeway heading towards New Orleans. You'll notice they are sweaty. The shot in the car without the bandannas have to be in the morning heading towards the park. Also, the eldest sister is saying, "Chris we have to go faster" but Chris isn't driving, Chris is the one that starts crying. I think she was berating her about their performance during the lumberjack task. I think the sisters had a hard time at the task and were passed up by alot of teams.

We've gone this way many times from Talladega. Straight down I-20/I-59 down to I-12 then West. You can also take I-65 down to Mobile but the I-59 route is more probable.

Lincoln, Alabama is the exit you take to get to the track so it is the most accurate to use for mileage estimates.

Start address: Lincoln, AL 35096
End address: Madisonville, LA 70447
Distance: 380 mi (about 6 hours 53 mins)

The I20 to I59 looks like the most direct route if you can read the map correctly, but we know what that is like.

Question:  with all the running around and sleep deprivation do you think that the producers at TPTB or CBS would want the tired teams to drive all the way to Madisonville late at night? No, I think that they have a camp/trailer park picked out for an overnighter.

ADDED:  Promo on 60 Minutes with Harry Smith talking about TES again only mentions Survivor castoff and NO mention of TAR for Wednesday.  NEL?  Kids begging in New Orleans as opposed to Belize?

I'm not so sure the evening "light rain" (weather underground) is what we see in the Paolo's pics.  That would be a strong Thunderstorm  )<.

I see it as this order based on weather conditions:

Pre storm based on overcast/cloudy skies ( 8:18am - 12:04pm)
Gaghan/Weaver

Either pre-storm (12:35pm - 12:53pm)/post-storm (2:19pm - 2:53pm) time frame
Paolo

Or if we know the direction we are looking based on the "last" shot of the Paolo's with the flag.  It appears the sun may be shining on the flag, unless it is a light.  The wind speed on that huge Garrison flag would need to be  nearing the 10 mph range to get the flag to move.  If the Paolo's are North of cameraman, then I would venture to say the Paolo's are doing their task in the 2:19 - 2:53 time frame.

Clear Skies with water on the track (3:53pm - 8:15pm)
Bransen
Linz
Godlewski

Chateau can you confirm  or destroy this theory with your shadow analysis on the Bransen/Linz/Godlewski shots ??? =]/

Keep in mind the weather conditions are for Anniston - not Talladega, so adjustments would need to be made for the difference of the two.

Theory , The Aiellos claimed they ziplined whilie in sequesterville in their TV Guide interview (http://www.tvguide.com/News/Insider/default.htm?cmsGuid={68FE6008-1A61-48BE-8DD5-51DC694ADDAA}) , the first place to come to my mind is Belize  (http://honeymoons.about.com/od/centralamerica/ss/Belize_Vacation_7.htm)
I remember reading something that pmspml5 posted at RealityTVWorld (http://community.realitytvworld.com/boards/DCForumID37/1208.shtml)
TVGuide.com: Where'd you go after you were eliminated?Kevin: I can't tell you where, but we went away for a few weeks. CBS took good care of us. We did some hiking, some shopping and we spent a lot of time at the pool. And we did some ziplining. Fun stuff.

"Belize Leg"
I just got back from a cruise and one of the ports of call was Belize City.
We went on a "zipline" adventure out in the rain forest which would have been a perfect Detour. There was not a lot of other things in that area to do and finding this place w/o the help of a local would have been very difficult. Some of the guides on this "Lost Canopy Tour" had been teasing one of the guys about being "famous" for being filmed for a TV show. I have no proof that it was TAR could have been anything - but it does fit.

Also, most locals speak Creole and unless they attend high-school past the age of 16 - never learn what we would consider english. So even though it is an english speaking nation - there could be some language barriors.

Sorry, Krazy, but I think your times just won't match with what we know for July 12:

Teams leave Huntsville between 2:30PM and 4:00PM, and must drive approximately 2 or 2.5 hours to Anniston and Talledega. So your times for Gaghan and Weaver (8:18AM to 12:04PM) can't be since at that hour they are still sleeping at the Marriott. Same goes for Paolos who won't leave Huntsville until 4:00PM. The clear skies for the Bransens, Linz and Godlewskies does work (3:53 to 8:15PM) Was there a storm late in the day around sunset time?  This would be the time that the Weavers, Gaghans and Paolos arrive at Talledega.
Title: Re: EP 4 Title~' Think Like an Office Chair '

Puddin:  I'm guessing that TPTB would not have a sequesterville outside of the US; why bother with all that travel problems. Most likely at a nice resort in Arizona or perpaps up north in Montana.  Just wild guessing.

Were you able to capture any of the TAR promos from the football yesterday?  Seemed to have two good ones.

I'm guessing that the overnight trailer/RV park may be just over the line in Meridian, Mississippi - that is where interstate routes 20 and 59 split and would be a good place for a trailer park to be located.

Looking again at the video promos, it seems that our teams are sticking to the same order that the arrived at the pit stop. And therefore leave in the same order. The only thing that would hinder or change the order is if one team really screwed up and went the wrong way on Interstate 20. They are told to find a chair in Anniston (mama Paolo seems to have trouble even finding it on her map!)

At Talledega Speedway we have the Bransens, Linz, and Godlewskis doing the biking race in sunlight with long shadows. These teams left in 1, 2, and 4 order. The Schroeders left as no. 3 but we do not see them at Talledega (but they must have been through there as we see Dad Schroeder at the trailer park at night.)

The Weavers seem to arrive before the storm, but the skies are very cloudy (storm brewing); The Paolos are caught up in the storm; the Gaghans seem to be there just before or just after the storm (hard to tell and I can't remember whether the track is wet or dry) This follows the scheme since the Weavers left No. 5; the Paolos as No. 6 with the Gaghans bringing up the rear at No. 7.

We have shots of the Linz catching and passing the Bransens on an Interstate while the sun is still shining (pre-rain storm?) The Bransen girl with the green tank top moons the boys! (Sis Linz gets a real laugh out of it). So we can assume perhaps that the Linz arrive first at the overnight with the Bransens coming in second. Hopefully the find the trailer with the earliest departure times. In any case both teams are having a generally great time laughing about the mooning! (And one of the Bransen girls seems to be holding some kind of paper - perhaps a paper with their departure time.

I think you and GMan already took care of that.  I think the earliest possible USSRC departure time is 1:30 pm due to the shot of the Bransens meandering their way under the Space Shuttle at what looks like 1:10 pm.  That and the travel times put all teams at Talladega after the big storm of July 12th.  Your point that weather in Anniston is not the same as Talladega is very important here too.  So a thunder head in Talladega may not have registered as such over in Anniston.

If you can find the weather for Lincoln it is the absolute closest city to the track. The city of Talladega is about 15 miles south of the track.

Edit: When I looked up weather for Lincoln it showed Anniston. Guess Lincoln is too small. Anniston and Lincoln are about 20 miles apart.

Hey, Kraziladi, no apolgies needed. We all put out everything we can think of, and gradually through process of elimination we can reach some pretty good conclusions. So the more information we gather the better. And sometimes, just sometimes we get everything right before the program airs.  But TPTB always comes up with wrinkles we never thought of.

Did some checking on campsites between Talladega, AL and Madisonville, LA along Route Interstate 20/59.  Only two campsites are listed: KOA -Meridian East/Toomsuba, MS and KOA- Laurel, MS. Both sites have space for RVs and Trailers along with tent sites. Could TPTB have brought 8 trailers onto the site ahead of time??

There are many more campgrounds in the area but most are probably private and just don't show up in general searches. The trailers may very well be a last minute product of Hurricane Dennis. When the entire gulfshore area evacuates all hotels north of the coastline are fully booked and the campgrounds get full of campers. After Katrina we've seen first hand that hotels do not kick out evacuees and those that had previous reservations are out of luck.

Here is another campsite near Meridian, MS - and I just love the name - TWITLEY BRANCH CAMPGROUND!

Second thought on Sequesterville. Perhaps they did go on to Belize with the Blacks and Rogers so that at least all of the teams had some kind of "foreign" experience on TAR8. Would be a nice if the producers so did.

LOL @ Twitley , but not so funny searching the campgrounds only that most are closed due to Storm damage..reality sets in  :unde:.
Gman ..did you hear or read about maybe TAR changing the format for the Family Edition so that the Families won't be stripped of their possesions ..like maybe going back to a time penalty of some sort  . It wa mentioned on another board but I can't find anything in hard copy .
I'm still holding out for the CBS/Newspath release tomorrow for the official word on the eliminated team on the ES on Wendsday ..or not  .
I know its not a "rule' but most NEL's also involve a Fast Forward and we see no sign of that as all teams are accounted for . But then again I'm getting no eliminated team hinkies ..sadly I feel the Paolo's are in trouble ( I like mama and thinks shes what holds them together  ) ..riding off into a storm is not a good sign  :Lat: {}{ .

Is that Mama falling off the bike?

If the Talledega Speedway gig were to lead to the pitstop, I would say that it really looks bad for the Paolos. BUT we still have the ride to Madisonville, the Detour Lumberjack or Blackjack; the ride to New Orleans; a Roadblock in the Big Easy (Gross Food Challenge?) and the race to the pitstop.

It looks like the Bransens and Linzes get to the Fairgrounds first, but do we have an idea of what order they all will complete the tasks? And Where Are The Schroeders? Did they get to go ahead and sleep in their own little ole beds?

Oh and Gman  ,I was leaning towards the Schroeders but peeps keep saying that they live in N.O. so how could they get lost ?? but if it comes down to who gets lost and who can read a map or who finishes the Lumberjack/ Blacjack first or last then yes ..it may very well be the Schroeders ..and I'm alright with them leaving  {l{ . Isn't it funny. The Paolos are the Meredith and Gretchen of last season. Everyone had them coming in last almost every episode but look how long they made it!

I think TPTB saw how annoying the Paolos came across the first episode so have lightened them up a little.

Maybe this is the Episode of Irony.

Weavers have to deal with a raceway...
Schroeders get lost in their home town and are eliminated?

Remember Frank and Margarita thought they'd have it in the bag with the final leg in their hometown of New York.  You just never know what Lady Luck will have in store.

FLASH   FLASH   FLASH   FLASH

On the CBS TES they announced that the next family to be cast off tonight will be on TES tomorrow.  So it is now confirmed, tonight we will have the fourth family eliminated from TAR8.

Who?

Weavers
Gaghans
Paolos

or the missing

Schroeders who get eliminated in their own home town. How ironic.

Chateau has the four lovely girls crossing Lake Pontchartrain on the causeway before Noon. And it looks like they may be running behind a bunch of others. So that leaves a lot of time to kill in New Orleans.  The teaserflashpix do not always show exactly where a team goes in each city visited but include shots that are typical of that city just to establish its presense. SO, the ROADBLOCK could be there somewhere.

Preservation Jazz Hall to locate a particular musician whose picture they have?

A famous restaurant: Brennans, Court of Two Sisters, Antoine's, Commanders Palace, Arnaud's, Broussard's, etec. for some kind of Gross Food Challenge (four dozen Bananas Foster?)

Final Pit Stop could be in Jackson Square, Bourbon Street or on the Steamboat Nanchez.

Traditionally, the first episode is the only one not to have a Roadblock.

I may eat my words tomorrow but I still don't see how the Schroeders will get eliminated unless they just get so far behind they can't catch up. IF they have to drive into downtown New Orleans and IF they aren't spoon fed the directions everyone else might find it difficult to get there. The traffic and one-way narrow streets can be confusing even to those who have been there before.

If someone is going tonight I'd have to go with the Paolos or Gaghans.

How about a dozen raw oysters at Acme Oyster House? I'd gag. Hopefully they'll skip Bourbon street since it is the family edition.

Okay, so let me get the episode straight (once again, we're covering the course of this leg):

US Space Camp (Leg 3 Pit Stop) to Anniston, Alabama (Office Chair)
Anniston, Alabama to Talladega, Alabama (Talladega Superspeedway)
Talladega, Alabama (camp out? teams stay for night) to Blackjack/Lumberjack Detour
Blackjack/Lumberjack Detour to New Orleans (Before the episode begins, I bet Phil's going to appear on screen and note that teams make it to the Big Easy and after how it was affected by Katrina)
Somewhere in New Orleans: Roadblock? (Preservation Jazz Hall?)
Pit Stop: Steamboat Natchez?

I hope I got this right...

I love hearing all the theories. While it use to be safe to say that a team shown in trouble will probably be safe, the Allieos blew that theory last week.

What happened to "a close race to the pitstop fuels an intense rivalry between two families"? After reading back over everything it does scream the Weavers and Schroeders and although I can't find it anywhere, I read somewhere that two families get over their differences for the sake of the children. So I think the Weavers and Schroeders are close at the pitstop but not the last team. That leaves the Paolos and Gaghans and I'm not leaning either way on those two.

Gather 'round boys and girls, all creatures big and small, lend me your ears for I have a tale to tell:

WHAT DO WE KNOW or more likely WHAT WE DO NOT KNOW about Ep4:

We start on the afternoon of July 12 at the Huntsville Marriott Hotel where the teams have been spending a mandatory 12-hoiur rest stop, eating, sleeping and mingling with the other teams. Starting at about 1:30PM the first four teams prepare to leave on the next leg of the race. We have the Bransen, Linz, Schroeder and Godlewski families all bunched up and leaving withing a few minutes of eachother.

On the road again proceeding to Anniston, AL in search of the world's largest office chair! This trip should take between 1.5 and 2 hours if they follow the map correctly following route 431 which leads direct from Huntsville to Anniston. On the way they most likely are going to run into a late afternoon thunderstorm.

Arriving in Anniston the teams will locate the large chair, climb up to the seat, and find their next clue. We see again the Bransens and Linz at the chair at about the same time.

Meanwhile as the clock nears 4:00Pm the other three families: Weaver, Paolo and Gaghan start out for Anniston (Mama Paolo is seen having trouble locating the place on the map - I hope she is looking at the map of Alabama and not Mississsippi).

The clue at the chair tells the teams to proceed to the International Motor Sports Hall of Fame and Museum in Talladega, AL - a drive of about 30 minutes (or less) down Interstate 20.

At the Museum is the clue box which directs the teams now to the Talladega Motor Speedway (actually just next door and within walking distance). Here they get their next clue to find a funny looking contraption which seats from four to six people who all have to pedal like mad to make the thing go racing around the 2.4mile speedway. One person also has to steer the contraption. The teams enter at the North gate and run through a tunnel to reach the starting spot on the track.

Again we have the Bransens, Linzes, and Godlewski Sisters (they caught up with the B & L group). All three of these teams make it around the track in bright sunlight. The shadows now indicate that it is getting on to be late in the afternoon. The Schoeders may be with them but we have no pix.It is most likely around 5:30 or 6:00PM

Later, before or after another huge thunderstorm sweeps the area we have the Weavers, Paolos and Gaghans arriving at the Museum and Speedway.  It appears that these three teams are still running about two hours behind the leaders. The sun has disappeared and storm clouds hover overhead. Sunset is around 7:35 so we are fast approaching that hour.

After completing the bike race gig, the teams are handed instructions to head toward a stop over at a campsite down Interstate 20/59 between Talladega and Madisonville, LA. A probable stopping spot would be around the town of Meridian, Mississippi which is about half way there.  This takes perhaps 3 hours of driving.  We see that it looks like the Bransens leave first closely followed by the Linz family.  We have scenes of both teams on an Interstate (probably I20/59) in daylight and weakening sunlight perhaps at sunset. But as the Linz siblings come up to pass the Bransens, one of the Bransen girls (the one with green tank top) sticks her butt out the window and moons the boys! (Oh, CBS where are you hiding the original unmangled videotape??) Everyone in the Linz car is hilarious over this turn of events, and their sister gets the biggest laugh of all!

Later the two teams have reached the stopping spot, and probably find a trailer or campsite for the night and receive a card which will have a departure time on it for the following morning. Departure times are probably staggared in two or threes so that the last place team to arrive for the night will only be about one hour behind the first teams.  Nice of TPTB to bunch teams up before the time difference gets any bigger.

We do not see the other teams arrive after Talledega but we do see the Weavers, Paolos and Gaghans on the track. The Weavers are most likely first, the Paolos second, and the Gaghans bringing up the rear. When the Paolos arrive there are two bikes left (the Weavers have left on bike three). During the race we hear the Gaghan mom say "We're closing in on them" showing that they are running behind the Paolos.

Problamatically we have the teams at the night spot in this order and this will be the order they leave in the morning:
Linz
Bransen
Godlewski
Schroeder
Weaver
Paolo
Gaghan.

Starting off early shortly after sunrise, the teams take off on a three hour drive down Interstate 59 to the town of Madisonville, LA and the Fairview Riverside State Park. When they have located the park it is now around 10:00AM and the teams are finally confronted with a difficult DETOUR choice: (1) LUNBERJACK/SAW in which the teams must put on  appropriate llumberjack clothing in a nearby changing tent, and then teams of two person each must using two-handled woodsmen's saws cut a predetermined number of logs into pieces. Or (2)BLACKJACK/DRAW  in which teams must don appropriate clothing and lifevests and then paddle their own canoe (more paddling) across the river to the old riverboat, "Cotton Blossom" and play a predetermined number of hands of 21 or blackjack and win a certain number before they will receive the next clue.

The teams divide the tasks as follows:

BLACKJACK/DRAW -  Bransen, Weaver, Gaghan families

LUMBRJACK/SAW - Linz, Godlewski, Paolo (and most likely the Schroeder) families.

In Blackjack it appears tha the Bransens are way in front of the other two and in fact are seen returning from the changing tent as the Weaver family arrives at least an hour behind.  The Weavers are seen finishing up the blackjack game just as the Gaghan family arrives in the riverboat and we hear Mama Gaghan say that two groups have already finished and they have wasted a lot of time (did they perhaps start the lumberjack and change their minds again?)

In Lumberjack it appears that the Linzes have no trouble. The Godlewski sisters struggle. The Paolos probably complain and struggles also. And who knows about the Schroeders (this week's mystery team)

Completing this task a little before noon we have the girls in their car heading across Lake Pontchatrain on the causeway directly into the Big Easy. The Linz may be ahead of them as we hear the girls talking about doing things faster.

Now we get to the really unknown part of our plot. Wha' hoppens in New Orleans?? We think that the teams must go to a well known landmark, perhaps Jackson Park to get their next clue which should be a ROADBLOCK. What the task is is not known. But New Orleans is known for two things (besides Mardi Gras and we are pretty early for that) which are great food and great jazz. So the DETOUR may be to go to one of the famous New Orleans restaurants: Antoine's, Arnaud's, Brennan's, Broussard's, Commander's Palace, or The Court of Two Sisters and partake in another Gross Food Challenge! (a la St. Petersburg, Budapest, or Mendoza) OR find Preservation Jazz Hall and locate a particular jazz musician and get the final clue from him (sounds too easy).

After completing the ROADBLOCK the teams will proceed to the final pit stop, perhaps on the Rivrship Nanchez (which we have had a intro flash picture of). Hard to judge the pecking order here, but one guess could be:

LINZ
BRANSEN
GODLEWSKI
SCHROEDER
PAOLO
WEAVER

and since this again is an ELIMINATION LEG, we find the Gaghans bringing up the rear. Sorry kids.

BUT we do have an unknown factor: What happened to the Schroeders? Now wouldn't that be a kick to have them eliminated in their own home town! And then they would have to spend the next three weeks not at home but in Sequesterville. But with the known map reading ability of the Paolos, I doubt that they come in last. And the final footrace to the pitstop could be between the Weavers and Gaghans.

Great pre-cap GMan.   :t-up:

Since I am terrible speller I have to share with you something I learned recently.  Prior to TAR8 I had no idea ho to spell Pontchartrain.  I've been there too.  And Katrina too.  No luck.  But Now this is what I do:

Pont = bridge in some languages
CHAR = racer married to a bear, and from the locale
train = I don't know, it's just a regular word

Put it all together and what do you get:  Pontchartrain, the Lake

But don't ask me to pronounce it!   :cheeky:

In the past we have assumed that a "close race to the pit stop" always referred to the two teams battling to escape elimination. But I now think that the race to the pit stop and rivalry between two families refers to the rivalry beginning between the Linz family and Bransen family. Nicely edited to include the car race to the overnight and the mooning of the Linz by the Bransen girl. And they still seem to be in the lead going to New Orleans so they may race to the finish line. If that is the case and it is a close race, the Linz have an advantage because Papa Bransen is not in the greatest shape to keep up with all the youngens.

I thought so. So the Bransens make it back just when the Linzs get started.

Not even a hint Chateau  :unde: , maybe N.O. is just the pitstop with Phil on the Natchez and the Jazzdude is standing on the deck beside Phil ,as the greeter ?

Also in EP 1 there was no Roadblock..just a detour ..

Pats herself on the back, not the Natchez but right about the Roadblock    :yaya:

My computer crashed yesterday so have not had opportunity to comment on EP4.

Basically we had it down pretty much the way it played out.  But strange routing of the teams all the way to Hattesburg, MS so the teams must have arrived late. We do hear Mama Paolo saying that they had to get to bed since they would be leaving again (7:40AM) in less than five hours.

They instead of going directly on to Madisonville, LA, they head back north on Route 49 almost to Jackson, and then south again on I-55.

Teams should learn that the harder task is always the quicker task. Both the Linz and Weavers started out on Play and then changed again to Work, and still the Linz siblings came in third.  How about them Paolos? Last at the overnight but second at the pit stop.

I wonder what happened to the Godlewski girls since they started out from Huntsville with a good two hour lead over the Weavers, but the Weavers caught up to them at the Talledega Speedway (thte Weavers are starting as the girls finish.)

And we did say it would be ironic if the Schroeders came in last in the very own home town.

And once more looking for the elusive 11th team":

The cars lined up in Huntsville at the NASA facility showed seven cars still lined up when the Bransens left in the first gray car. That's a total of EIGHT CARS.  The Gaghans catch up to the Paolos (what happened to the 20 minute lead?) and when they get to the parking lot there are only two cars left - one gray and one black. Therefore, six cars have already left - but we only have five teams accounted for.

Gman I just emailed you  :kuss: , I just knew there was a reason my favorite cookie was not around  ;;)
I was watching the insider clips ( they are awful to watch as they cut out to Survivor scenes , for me anyway ) Alot of the teams had the Colonel chicken place mixed up with KFC . Also Mom Schroeder mentioned that the moblie homes had no bathroom facilities and they could not potty or brush their teeth , also no air conditioning which just added to their miserable day .. they were pulled over by a cop in N.O. but he waved them on ..
I don't know whats going on with the Weavers but again in the eliminated teams interview they were accused of breaking rules & cheating . Mom Schroeder said that Rolly was a bully and was trying to get info from whatshisname her stepson , thats why she tried to pull him away , she said that he bullied other teams too .
Not that it matters but DJ admitted that deep down inside he does love his mom , she just drives him crazy but , if she were ever hurt he would be there for her . They also joke about how they never come in first and about the cool prizes that the other teams have won..they really want a prize to make Mama happy , thats what makes me think that DJ does his Mama proud and takes the plunge to win the Fast Forward .I hope the win something Great !!

Is it possible the producers add extra cars, clues, so that the last group doesn't know they're last?  There were 2 or 3 bikes at the speedway when the last team (Schroeders?  how soon we forget) got there.

GMan, Since the route to Hattesburg made no since I still think the mobile home park was a last minute change and that is the only thing they could find for the teams to bunk at. Southern Alabama and Ms. had just evacuated for Hurricane Dennis and if the hotels and camp grounds were all full that was the best they could do.

The race got behind heading into Huntsville so they must have used New Orleans to catch up. It was way too abbreviated. You don't go all the way there just to run to a pitstop. I'm sure there was more planned for the big easy and I would have loved to see it.  :':')
