Title: Tropical Storm Claudette Pounds Pearl Islands Survivors
Post by: Rob on July 12, 2003, 06:45:09 PM
Eric Jackson, Editor of The Panama News, told SurvivorNews today that the Survivor: Pearl Islands castaways should have been feeling the wrath of Tropical Storm Claudette. For 2 straight days the islands had about 4 inches of rain.

This type of weather in Panama is typically seen only in October and is unusual for this time of the season, Jackson said. During normal rainy days in July the day starts out sunny, the sky turns black in the afternoon, and it rains for a short time before the sun comes out again. The locals say that this is nature's way of telling people they need a siesta. But obviously our Survivors are not getting much sleep lately.

The worst may be over. Claudette is moving towards the Yucatan peninsula of Mexico with 70 mph winds and threatening to become a hurricane. Mexican authorities are evacuating fishing villages and warning tourists.  Yesterday Claudette was lashing Jamaica and Cuba with heavy rains, while Honduras and Panama were on alert.

According to TDT's calendar the castaways would have been on Day 17 and 18 of the game, around the time of the 6th booted off. We have not yet verified if, unlike last season, a man (or a competent woman) is around to fortify the shelters. But at least we won't have to worry about the men buring the camp down.
