This is where ALL the spoiler speculation/discussion of the TARA 5 race goes, NOT in the LIVE thread. It is where we try to thrash out what the LIVE sightings mean.
As always, per RFF's practices, we do not spoil the start location (iunless officially revealed) until it is believed that the teams are safely underway. We would never want to put a team in jeopardy or cause them distress or interfere with the actual running of the race. Info on future legs may also occasionally be protected for those reasons. But if you have info to share beforehand , we would love to know, so please PM or email me! Spoilers are treasured!

Ok, so Jakarta is over for Starting line and Leg 1 apparently,
Let's wrap'em up a little :
Starting Line :
Possibly Sunda Kelapa harbour
Task :
1. Kota tua (assembling bicycle)
2. Monas / National monument (ride the bike through a certain course) or could be rode the bike that they were assembling previously,
3. If we still speculating on Alan's pit stop finding, we might have a basement of historical museum (which tends to be famous because it's horror story) :lol:
So far that might be all for now, will look forward for some more findings..
TAR Indo teams are preparing for a possible Leg 2 in Bandung, we are still calculating the route for Bandung's leg.. :lol:

Oh yes it could. We have 2 Indonesian legs and 2 (or 1+ KOR) legs in Malaysia already.
Singapore could be next up or rescheduled for later.

Welp...
Late last night I found a video but it has since been taken down or made private.
It was a short video of Alex and Will in the Quan Bui restaurant.
Towards the end of the video I saw another team (Rei/Kenji?) that had a pale female and a male with glasses. They looked like they were hating life.
Also note, in the restaurant there were about 6 tables. 4 were unoccupied and there was a plate of food on each that was covered in brown woven plate cover.

Well, assuming they still do 10 legs, they have 9 legs to eliminate 8 teams.
So If this is leg 6, the first 5 legs are elim.
So If this is leg 7, one of the first 5 legs is a non-elim with the rest being elims.
Heres the route I have so far:
1 Indo
2 Indo
3 Malay (Kuala Lumpar)
4 Malay (Penang)
5 Thai
6 Viet- Alex/Will elim
7 Ph
3/4 may be 1 leg but we don't know.

And at the moment, they have boarded a bus going to Ilocos (Ilocos Sur probably because the niece is going to Vigan). A niece of my friend just mentioned that she is with the team in a bus which is now on its way to the northern part of the country. If they are going to Vigan or Laoag, they will arrive in the morning anytime from 6am-9am

But now that's got me thinking. Maybe Allan's Instagram video (https://www.instagram.com/p/BJMyyBGA9M9/) isn't Intramuros, but actually of him in Vigan, Ilocos Sur which is also known for its cobblestones and horses?
At first, I wondered if this could be another TBC/KOR Leg?
One "Leg" in Manila and another full Leg up north? But then seeing that maybe Allan wasn't in Intramuros but maybe Vigan, Ilocos Sur instead, maybe they only had those 2 Route Markers in Manila with the Detour and RB still to come up north.

Do we know what they were doing exactly?
The pics constitution posted are from the national HQ of the Emergency Response Unit of the Philippine Red Cross.
So I am going to assume that the stuff they bought in Quiapo were some relief goods/supplies and the pics show the teams delivered the Grab-sponsored box of goods (using a Grab car of course) to the Red Cross HQ.
Most likely, a good, simple sponsored task in Manila for logistics to get the teams on the overnight bus so they can start the bulk of the Leg in Ilocos in the morning.

It may be possible to have a second Philippine leg. I've driven there once, it takes 8 hours by car to get from Manila to Vigan!

Hi georgiapeach, I guess yesterday's activities in Quiapo and Pasay and today's activities in Vigan are only for ONE LEG. The teams arrived in Manila yesterday afternoon at 1:30pm for some challenges then went to Vigan City for the U-TURN and probably checked in there for pitstop.
So tomorrow would be another leg probably so stay tuned whether they will continue to race within the Philippines or fly to another country as they are resting by now in Vigan.
As for your other question, for them to go back to Manila, the following scenarios are most likely:
1. By bus for 8-9 hours depending on the traffic
2. By bus for 2 hours to Laoag International Airport (the nearest airport from Vigan. Laoag is the capital of Ilocos Norte, the province next to Ilocos Sur) then by airplane to Manila for 45 minutes.
If they have checked in to the pitstop at around 12 noon today and into a 12-hour mandatory rest, then they will be released for the next leg at around 12 midnight of August 19 Philippine time (or 12 noon of August 18 Atlanta time). Philippine time is +8 hours.

@georgiapeach, those pictures in the airport i posted today was taken yesterday in manila in the afternoon. The bus to vigan was last night. Today they are in Vigan now.
No, peach, those weren't departure pics. According to the witness, all teams move out of the airport at the same time and then raced from there.

No sightings of them yet after Vigan. What I have found are old videos, very short videos, of Maggie and Parul in a train station in malaysia; and, the singaporean m/m team recieving a clue at a roadside in malaysia also. I don't know if they have been already shared here.

Not strange at all. If they fly via Laoag the best flight is about 2PM, so they would not even get to Taiwan until 7-8PM.
There is no way they can be in Manila before mid afternoon whether they drive or fly. . And we don't know, this could be an extended pitstop even.
Hopefully we might get sightings in Manila...

Would there be enough time for teams (or even Allan) to have been released from Vigan and make a flight to another country for them to already start filming this next Leg? One possibility is they transported them back to Manila during the Pit Stop and were released for the next Leg from somewhere in Metro Manila.
Otherwise, could they still be in the Philippines? There are certainly TAR-worthy caves in nearby Benguet (5-6 hrs away by car) and Cagayan (6-7 hours) provinces.

Going back to the flights from Laoag, today's 2pm Philippine Airlines flight to Manila was delayed 2 and a half hours. And the Tigerair flight hasn't even departed yet.
So if they are indeed already on the next Leg, the only way for teams to have gotten out of Ilocos already would be on land.
Some possible scenarios:
-Would they do a KOR/TBC Leg after an overnight bus ride? Get teams racing in Ilocos for a few hours and get them right back on a bus back to Manila?
-Allan left Ilocos immediately after Pit Stop. Allan's just filming his spiels in the next, non-Philippine location already and the teams have not even arrived in that country yet.
-Teams were transported to Manila during the Pit Stop. Assume they were released 12 hours later (around 11pm-midnight) in order to make morning/midday flights out of Manila.
-Teams are still in the Northern Philippines for a 2nd PH Leg?
Anyway, if they did get out of the country already, that's some amazing, excellent logistical planning right there. :conf:

If they really have started filmimg that early, I don't think they had enough time to move out of the Philippines. Or Allan might be just teasing us and that cave is in Malaysia where they previously went to? :tantrum
The cave looks like man-made to me and it doesn't look like the one in Sagada also. Are there Japanese tunnels in Ilocos? I can't think of any.
But it looks like the Callao Cave in Penablanca, Cagayan only that the ceiling is too low.

It's from instagram. And there is another video from that instagram user of a team rapelling down a building. So this made me figured out that JK and Mike had just finished their rappel when that video was recorded.
ADDITIONAL: Please take note of that piece of paper Mike handed to the guy who in return gave him the clue. Also, in the second video from that instagram user (link is not posted here), the man who was rappelling had a piece of paper also tucked in his lips. You can make assumption of the task they had from here

So, they all have some superspeed if they were able to travel all the way back to Manila and then fly somewhere else, even if that somewhere else is a southern Philippine location. lol That's some tight time management for the AXN team.

Singapore would be logical for the short time between it and the Philippines. Teams would have plenty of flights to choose from if they left Vigan Friday morning to catch any of the evening flights to Singapore.

I was able to contact the owner of the photo and she told me this picture was taken around 4:20 pm yesterday ( August 19 Philippine time).
So we can now assume this is really the start of the next leg.

That Eric & Rona pic should be the start of the next Leg since that would be the only time they would open a new clue at Bantay Church since it was the Pit Stop.
It would appear then that Allan and the crew flew ahead and filmed all his stand ups and spiels Friday with the teams arriving in Singapore sometime Saturday morning with the Leg running into Saturday afternoon.

There on target for 10 legs but I wouldn't be surprised if they changed it 11 or 12.
I think they could do Taiwan Leg 9 and finish in Indonesia.

With Indonesia the sponsor, I think it is a given that Indonesia will be the Finale, prob Bali for epic scenery.
The question is will we have one or two legs there? Banyuwangi seems far more likely than Yogya...maybe they decided that would NOT be the best Malaysia choice. :funny:

It's only one Leg in the Philippines (Manila > Vigan) and then Singapore is next. Nothing in between. There's zero time when Allan already left the Philippines, it appears, before the teams even left Vigan for the next Leg.

Haha I am actually in Bali now. Would've been trekking Ijen same as TARA if I arrange transport for hiking that very same night. Alas I got jelly legs and lack sleep from another Sunrise hike the day before so I sleep at homestay.
The hike at Ijen especially down to the crater is no joke. Steep and your eyes and nose will burn from the sulphur fumes even wearing gas mask

I agree, but I think since Leg 7 had a U-Turn and looks to be the Final 6 leg that it's actually Tom & Anita getting booted in the Phils. JK/Mike or Chloe/Yvonne made the F4.

Female teams in this franchise are always strong racers. Every TARA season had female team in finale and 9(or 10 if Chloe & Yvonne made F4) of 18 FF teams made F4!!! AMAZING. I wish TARUS cast FF teams strong like them.

All the teams' videos (who are accounted for Leg 1 onwards) have been posted along with Brandon & Alphaeus (who are seen in a presumably later leg than the first in the promo shots).
If so, then Vicky & Rachel or Lisa & Nic are 100% our first boots (and the chance of an NEL is also likely considering the one NEL in the Race has to be in the first 5 legs).

yes i already watched that racer vlogs. Louisa also posted her racer vlogs on her IG and said that the video was taken on the morning before the race begin.
but there's something weird with Lisa & Nic racer vlogs. while the other 10 teams has a same place setting (hotel room), looks like they're on different place/room? idk but i can tell it's a completely different room than others.

Yes actually, the legs are:
1. Jakarta
2. Bandung
3. Yogyakarta
4. Banyuwangi
5. Bali

I need to admit, I AM looking forward to the Yogyakarta and the Bali leg. Not sure where Banyuwangi is though.

Here is Allan's latest photo of all the teams except one in his instagram. Apparently, Eric/Rona are doing an interview.
I went to this post and saw the comment of the racers. Maybe it is the Final Pit Stop. And just by looking, I have a speculation of who will be racing at the finish line. Chloe and Maggie are wearing fanny packs while the known eliminated teams are not wearing. So I'm having a wild guess that Parul and Maggie and Chloe and Yvonne will be racing the last leg. Well, Allan Wu gave us a hint probably.

Leg 1 (Jakarta) : Lisa & Nicole / Rei & Keiji
Leg 2 (Bandung) : Brandon & Alphaeus
Leg 3 (KL - Penang) : NEL
Leg 4 (Phuket) : Rachel & Vicky
Leg 5 (Ho Chi Minh City) : Alex & Will

Leg 6 (Manila & Vigan) : It's either Tom Anita was toasted or NEL
Leg 7 (Singapore) : See Leg 6
Leg 8 (Yogyakarta) : JK & Mike was seen on the Yogyakartacave during promo, and we know Eric & Rona, Parul & Maggie, and Treasuri & Louisa been sighted on the train en route to Banyuwangi, plus anyone who has sharp eyes saw Maggie, and Chloe wearing race pouches on the Instagram post of Allan Wu during the finish line location, I may think it's save to say JK & Mike been toasted on F5.
Leg 9 (Banyuwangi) : At this point it would be anyone who survives the Yogyakarta leg would win the race.
