That's a pretty good spread of courtiers represented. I think they might of had 1 to many Malyasian teams and could of added an Indian team or something. :cheer:

I'm just confused, after 5 seasons of TARA, still no Muslim teams? I'm just wondering, as some countries has a big population who were Muslim. Anyway, the cast looks nice!

Did TAR Asia in previous seasons reveal the cast before filming, or is this a new thing like with the US?
Looks like a terrific cast, but while I hate to sound like one of the common Canadian complaints ("there should be a team from every province"), another country or two could have been represented. No China or India, the 2 countries that together are 1/3 of the earth's population :P
Also, love a couple of those names. Treasuri, Alphaeus.

I have high expectations for Eric & Rona. Never watched them on Philippine TV, but Rona immediately charms in their audition video. She could be hilariously awesome.

Cast Thoughts and Prediction (after watching most audition vids)
1. Tom/Anita- I hope their a fun couple and not the couple that breaks down and fights a lot.
2. Chloe/Yvonne
3. Brandon/Alphaeus- I could see them winning but also the other way around. They seem like contenders.
4. Rachel/Vicky- I could see them bicker here and there.
5. Louisa/Treasuri- They remind me of Zabrina's team from S1 minus the winning aspect. I think they could be the underdogs like Lucy/Emilia.
6. JK/Mike- They seem loud with dominant personalities.
7. Eric/Rona- Average couple. Reminds me of Tyson/Sally.
8. Lisa/Nicole- Love this team because their literally a team of firsts and fun.
9. Rei/Kenji
10. Parul/Maggie
11. Alex/Will- I hope they don't become full of themselves.

All thsese casts were selected purely from ASEAN countries...
unlike previous seasons, where some outer ASEAN also included (India, Japan)

KUALA LUMPUR, July 29 — Eleven fearless teams who will be competing against each other for US$100,000 in The Amazing Race Asia Season Five has finally been revealed!
“This season’s audition videos were creative, witty, clever and very surprising, so it was a tough selection process. We’re thrilled with the 11 teams — they embody AXN’s brand personality, which is passionate, determined, unexpected and high-octane. This is not just a show — it’s an adrenaline-fueled adventure for everyone involved, including our viewers,” said Ang Hui Keng, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Sony Pictures Television Networks, Asia.
Representing Malaysia are three energetic teams which include; besties Yvonne Lee and Chloe Chen who are not only best friends but also titleholders of Miss World Malaysia 2012 and 2011 respectively, brothers Alex and Will Chee, also known as the Muscle Brothers, and 8TV Quickie host Brandon Ho along with his former schoolmate Alphaeus Tan.
“This season is going to be a huge adrenaline rush and a race like no other. The racers and AXN viewers can expect more thrills, more drama and more twists than ever before,” said Allan Wu who hosted the reality series for the first four seasons as well as The Amazing Race China: Celebrity Edition.
Slated to premiere in October, the chosen teams for The Amazing Race Asia Season Five hail from seven countries across Asia ranging from Singaporean DJs to Filipino beauty queens and more.

The two Philippine teams in this year's edition of 'The Amazing Race Asia': Beauty queens Parul Shah and Maggie Wilson and married couple Eric Tai and Rona Samson
Two teams composed of four very competitive individuals will represent the Philippines in the much-awaited return of AXN’s “The Amazing Race Asia.”
Beauty queen besties Maggie Wilson and Parul Shah and athletic married couple Eric Tai and Rona Samson will battle it out with nine fearless teams from six other Asian countries in Season 5 of the Asian franchise of the 10-time Emmy award-winning show for Outstanding Reality Competition program.
Having participated in local and international pageants, both Maggie and Parul are no stranger to competitions. A former actress, model and MTV VJ, Maggie was the country’s representative in the Miss World beauty pageant in 2007 while Parul competed twice in Binibining Pilipinas before she earned the right to represent the Philippines in Miss Grand International 2015 where she went on to win second runner-up and Best in National Costume.
Also known by his moniker, Eruption, Eric first became known as a member of the Philippine Volcanoes rugby team but later gained more prominence as one of the hosts of ABS-CBN’s noontime show, “It’s Showtime” until his departure from the cast this year.
His wife, Rona, whom he married for the second time this year, describes herself as a “positive body image warrior and a plus size model” in her Instagram page. As both she and Eric work out regularly, they are seen as among the more athletic among the 11 competing teams.
Slated to premiere in October, the fifth instalment of the popular reality adventure series will be hosted by Asian-American actor Allan Wu, who was the “face of the race” for AXN’s first four seasons, and most recently the host of “The Amazing Race China: Celebrity Edition.”
“This season is going to be a huge adrenaline rush and a race like no other. The racers and AXN viewers can expect more thrills, more drama and more twists than ever before,” said Allan. “The teams will be transformed during the race, for better or worse – but one thing is for sure, it will be the ultimate adventure of a lifetime!”
Sharing the pit-stops and co-hosting with Allan during selected legs of the race will be the stunning Indonesian movie star Tara Basro, who in 2015 won a Citra Award at the Indonesian Film Festival for Best Leading Actress for her role in A Copy of My Mind. Tara’s appearance in The Amazing Race Asia Season 5 marks the first time a co-host has been cast in the series.
Sony Pictures Television Networks Senior Vice President and General Manager Ang Hui Keng says the 22 individuals comprising the 11 teams “represent a true cast of characters with diverse personalities, backgrounds, talents and relationships.”
The other teams are composed of travel hosts Rach and Ricky and childhood friends Louisa and Treasuri from Indonesa; beauty queens Yvonne and Chloe, brothers Alex and Will and old school mates Brandon and Alphaeus from Malaysia; radio DJs JK and Mike and siblings Rei and Kenji from Singapore; dating couple Tom and Anita from Thailand and life partners Lisa and Nicole from Vietnam.

After watching the team vids, I like the FF teams as usual. The cast is not that bad. Here are my thoughts:
Alex & Will Chee- Macho Bro Team
They won't win. I think at some pt they will get too inside each other's head.
Brandon Ho & Alphaeus Tan- Team Calculated
I think their the most calculated team. The question is whether their decisions calculate a win or elimination.
Chloe Chen & Yvonne Lee- Team Chloe smells :funny:

I think Rona is inspirational and has a great message to spread. I wonder how much they will bicker on the race. :funny: I know they will. :funny:

I think Maggie is the brain and Parul is pretty dittzy one. Their opposites to say the least. The question is can they come together and work together.

They roasted each other pretty much in their intro. They won't win. I expect them to bicker a lot.
Rei & Keiji Umehara- Team Wildcard
I think out of all the teams, this team is a real wildcard. Even though their brother/sister, they seem a whiles apart. The question on the race is a how can they compliment each other.
Tom William Barrett & Anita Silsith Bye- Team Generational Divide
Won't win. Expect them to bicker at some pt due to different ways of thinking.
