Leg 4
Mercury House was DDP. Google lists an "Al-Tamini" (https://goo.gl/maps/QNFM562pC2K2) curio shop on Soko Muhogo near Jaws Corner; that may be it. The three doors (I could find very little--nothing, in fact--on "royal" doors. But...whatever) were at Soko Muhogo just down from Abeid Curio, the House of Wonders and the Arab fort. The tokens were delivered to 348 Gizenga st. The entrance to Dasico can be seen here (https://www.mapillary.com/map/im/2xlSh4Eiq9WamwvxrmI_bg) on the far right of the image. Coco Beach is here (https://goo.gl/maps/cKjpfXJJwbR2).
Leg 5
ABC Travel and Tours (http://www.abctravel.co.tz/) is in the NMB Bank bldg. The ARM was at Hogsteinen lighthouse (http://lighthousesofnorway.com/hogsteinen-lighthouse/). The FF, which started and ended near the lighthouse, has already been mentioned (http://forum.realityfanforum.com/index.php/topic,32921.msg1191594.html#msg1191594), and the bonfire RB has already been discussed. Kayak More Tomorrow is here (https://goo.gl/maps/DpzgTwMBgUm). The "Kulturhus" is here (https://goo.gl/maps/kcehYYCDdRD2). I don't have the troll locations yet.

Leg 1 maps! Some observations:
- Phil said it was 2 blocks southwest, 7 blocks southeast from Grand Hope Park to F&M Gallery, but it was actually 6 blocks southeast.
- Not sure how teams teleported from the canopy tower to arrive at the Gamboa Rainforest Resort (Detour) by boat.

Legs 3 and 4, thanks to Slowhatch!

Found the school in Mkokotoni, it's the only U-shaped building facing the sea.
The furniture yard is just across the main road; you can see the sign to the school when Shamir/Sara are struggling with their desk.

So just judging from the map not only was the kayak detour easier but there was less distance involved in the task itself and not much added distance to the Pit Stop?  :groan:

So the Fast Forward endpoint was right around 60 miles (100 km) away from Alesund. Wow, no wonder Becca & Floyd didn't win that leg.

It bears repeating every now and then: if you can establish yourself and your destination on a map, it doesn't matter where North is. (usually)

Leg 8
The start was approx. here (https://goo.gl/maps/Lg284iyJgqN2); teams crossed the Constitution Bridge and took cabs to the airport, where they caught a chartered jet (which solved my upholstery problem).
Taverna Kaplanis (https://goo.gl/maps/QjzxCa8wSsz)
Cheese Lady 1 was next to the basketball court right around the corner from this viewpoint (https://goo.gl/maps/FkYgbe5NScE2); I couldn't find Cheese Lady 2.
The U-Turned teams began the stair run here (https://goo.gl/maps/QF3p7YxfG3s) and ran up the stairs and behind the church to grab the goats.
Zappeion Hall (https://goo.gl/maps/fNgcPpZuQpF2)--the Panathenaic Stadium is across the street and the food truck was nearby.
Aeropagus (https://goo.gl/maps/sUxgLxEn1XU2)

Leg 9
The leg start was this little parklet (https://goo.gl/maps/M98jxTd12Y82) (see below--they haven't washed the graffitti yet  :) ).
Zulu Bungy (https://goo.gl/maps/nLuUw3ftHyJ2)
Lư Thái Tổ (https://goo.gl/maps/zZyvk5RCCeR2)
Quán Sứ temple (https://goo.gl/maps/JkwK9EYag4m)
Mannequins Thanh Tuyet (https://goo.gl/maps/S2dpgWFkRG32)
Chan cam street (mannequin storefronts) (https://goo.gl/maps/AfPyviAp1NH2)
Bamboo shop (42 Hang Vai) (https://goo.gl/maps/cuuu4fXzyE62)
Birdcage building (56 Cau Go) (https://goo.gl/maps/hMCysey1wrS2)
Thong Nhat park (https://goo.gl/maps/y4x93YCF23K2)

Leg 10
Bus stations in Hanoi (https://goo.gl/maps/kACtAsNEF7y) and Ninh Binh (https://goo.gl/maps/8MXZpDhM8jQ2)
Tam Coc wharf (bicycle pickup/dropoff) (https://goo.gl/maps/VeMktRWuo1x)
Bich Dong pagoda (https://goo.gl/maps/eiKRkzzsKxG2) (duck eggs are nearby)
The only result I get for "Thon Hai Nham" is a bird park (https://goo.gl/maps/vpgPRZaU7b52); I never found the shrimp farmer.
Thai Vi temple (https://goo.gl/maps/BPRGrHztzZ82)--there's no street view, but I estimate the foot row began at this bend in the river (below).
Hang Mua (https://goo.gl/maps/iHWfLinH8bA2)

Leg 6.

The tram ride in Milan was a truncated version of the full route (https://www.atm.it/en/AltriServizi/TempoLibero/Documents/ATMosfera%20MAP.pdf); otherwise it would have taken teams 2.5h for the full circuit.
This was quite a bad leg for a U-Turn, since the two Detour options were so far apart!
Title: Re: TAR 29 Maps
Post by: Neobie on May 24, 2017, 07:54:47 AM
Leg 7.

The singing Detour wasn't exactly "fair", as there weren't many disembarcation points once you've completed the task.
Brooke/Scott finished while on the Grand Canal, but had to wait until the gondola moved another 300m to where Becca/Floyd disembarked, at the Campo San'Zan Degola.
Title: Re: TAR 29 Maps
Post by: Zack. on May 24, 2017, 04:40:14 PM
- re: Lake Como; I was under the impression that the large distance between tasks was a way to balance out that the plaster detour was substantially longer than the rock climbing detour (with plaster being closer to the Pit Stop) but...not really?

- re: singing Detour; Scott mentioned that he and Brooke passed on their first attempt but had to keep singing to get to the endpoint where Becca & Floyd / Mike & Liz disembarked.

Leg 11
Most of the links will be from Daum maps since Google street view in Seoul is 2009/2010.
The leg start is still a bit of a puzzle. We see them walk out of a travel agency (here (https://goo.gl/maps/tLCf2Wh8NdC2)--see below), but there's no matching courtyard/mural nearby.
Gangnam station/M-square (http://dmaps.kr/4smh7)
Hanyang University Olympic Gym (http://dmaps.kr/4uu4r)
The cab driver wasn't exaggerating: here is the approx. location (http://dmaps.kr/4v2iv) of where the guys
realized they were lost, and here (http://dmaps.kr/4v2iq) is a suggested route (20 min. minimum) to Hanyang U.
Mugyewon cultural center (http://dmaps.kr/4uueu)
OGM arena (S-Plex Center) (http://dmaps.kr/4tpi6)
Gavit/Some Sevit (http://dmaps.kr/4uuga)

Slowhatch, it's this little nook at the Hidden Charm Hotel in Ninh Binh!
Note the matching shingles, eaves, and windows.

OK, so the trip between the hotel and the travel agency was just left on the cutting-room floor. Thanks.

Legs 9 and 10. Thanks Slowhatch!

The basket task in Ninh Binh was 1.1km/0.7mi long, good thing there weren't any intersections to confuse the teams!

Leg 11. The Amazing Yellow Blue Line got lost this week and ended up 1500mi off-course in the Leizhou Peninsula in Guangdong, China.

The metro was surprisingly not the end of the world for Matt/Redmond, even though Gangnam was on the complete opposite side of town with Line 2 taking a big, circuitous loop around the city. A taxi would take 90min in light traffic and the metro would take 87min plus transfer and waiting time, meaning they would only have been around 15min behind at the most.

The Pit Stop was in the river? Couldn't really tell at night.

Sort of! It's a set of three man-made islands in the Han River (http://www.somesevit.com/en/index.do).

Leg 12, my hometown! Mapped out Brooke/Scott's route, which was the most logical:
- Red line up to Chicago and across to the Water Tower (it was Season 6, Scott)
- Straight down to the Chicago River to the Wabash Ave Bridge
- Through to Millenium Park and Buckingham Fountain
Tara/Joey did it semi-efficiently in the opposite direction, except for the detour down to the Chicago Temple, which is the opposite direction from the Water Tower.
London/Logan were all over the place, starting in the middle at the bridge, then hitting the south and north ends.

I was a little puzzled by these caps, one from the episode and the other from the insider videos; the only thing I can conclude is that the racers were told to leave their cabs at
Cermak-Chinatown station and take the red line into Monroe station.

That would explain Scott saying "We go towards Howard, which is the one we were on." at Monroe!

Will fix the map later!

Thanks Neobie! You are the best mapper I ever had.

Could you help for a favor to Google Map placemarks (to be updated) for TAR 1-29?
