Title: TAR ISRAEL 5 SHOW Discussion *spoilers*
Post by: hotriceguy on May 16, 2016, 10:47:37 PM
Same as last season, maybe 2 teams will be eliminated 1st leg again.  :groan:
Yes, they are going to have two first legs again just like the last season.

Finally got a chance to watch this. I thought those two girls had NO chance, but then they really surprised me. The music task really threw teams for a loop.

My guess is that the next episode is on Saturday.

Wikipedia nor RFF wiki have been updated so what's happened so far in the leg? (Guessing it's 3 episodes long)

Ah sorry, I only update the RFF wiki after a leg is finished. I can provide brief recaps here.

-The 12 remaining teams flew to Rome, Italy and searched Parking Structure C for a person with their next clue.
-This clue contained a transparent image with part of da Vinci's Vetruvian man. Teams had to find the one car with a sticker containing the other part of the Vetruvian man, which they could take.
-Teams drove to La Carovana Restaurant, where they had to spoon through a gigantic pot filled with all sorts of pasta. Team had to use their hands to search through the (very HOT) pasta looking for 16 English letters that looked like pasta pieces. Anything that wasn't spaghetti had to be sorted, and all spaghetti had to be put back in the pot. Some of the letters could be used to spell "Parmigiano", which would get them the next clue.
--Excited after finishing the clue, Hen hugs the judge (an elderly Italian woman) and the two fall to the ground. The judge is slightly hurt and needs to sit down, but in the end she smiles and laughs.
-U-Turn vote. Online dating couple Dor & Sapir received the majority, 4/12 votes
-Teams left their vehicles behind (already??) and traveled by taxi to Piazza Cairoli. Detour clue.
-In MEAT, teams found Norcineria Viola and had to memorize the taste, look and smell of 12 kinds of Salami. Then travel on foot across the Piazza to a salami stand and identify the pieces of salami there. (Copy of TAR20 Turin task)
--Brothers Ben & Ori start tasting the salami and quickly give up, switching tasks.
-In DAIRY, one team member had to hold a huge, heavy block of cheese while their partner used a cheese grater to grate it down. They had to keep doing this until they got 1kg of cheese gratings.
--Monada cut her finger badly during this task, making her cry.
-U-Turn Reveal. Sapir feels like she's gone back in time to high school where everyone is bullying her.
-Teams are told to find the statue of the Greek God of the Sea. This refers to the statue of Neptune at Piazza del Popolo.
--Footballers Tzion & Aviv misinterpret the clue and ask their driver to take them to "God Sea Square". The driver starts taking them to the People's Square.
-At Popolo, teams had to become human statues, including costumes and body paint. They had to find a local who would agree to become a third human statue. Then the three had to recreate the statue of Neptune and his two sons, remaining completely still in order to earn 10 Euros from locals.
--Teams begin this task, but no-one completes it before the episode ends. Night has fallen over Rome.

I'm watching HaMerotz LaMillion too. I can get the general idea of what the teams are doing or the task for, but still I relies on Google Translate if I want to know the thoughts of the teams in depth. =[

Uhh... Neptune's the Roman god of the sea. The Greek name was Poseidon. Come on, HaMerotz LaMillion! Unless of course it was just that one team saying that, in which case come on, whichever team that was!

Good point. I think the clue just said to find the statue of the "Sea God", and Lee & Tal made an assumption.

OMG, i completely dislike the cousins (Yael & Yosiel), i can't stand them talking about the way others look (though i don't speak Hebrew, their gestures make it kind of obvious), specially Yosiel who is a guy  mocking the girls.

My early favourites are Naomi & Chen (they are totally hillarious, loved when Chen took down the mamma in the pasta task  :funny:), Alex & Josie (they had such a good vibe, they are always happy and smiling). Lee & Tal look like a female team that can actually win, they are extremely competent.

I don't know about Adriano & Monada, i think they are a nice and cute couple. Him sucking her blood after she got a cut with the grater was kind of gross but lovely hehe.

You infer from circumstances, you translate the Hebrew subtitles, or you just grin and bear it.  :grins:

I have no idea what people are saying, what's happening or where there going, it's in a completely foreign language that hasn't got a link to a romance or Germanic language  :funny:!

Yet there is something about it that I like that's I think are missing from the American Version, the tasks are amazing!  :luvya:

I have no idea what people are saying, ... it's in a completely foreign language that hasn't got a link to a romance or Germanic language  :funny:!
IMO, hebrew is a fun language to get into :)

- you can use simple tricks, e.g.
English "I am". If you flip the letters around and replace "m" with an "n" you get "ani"
English "no". If you replace the "n" with an "l", you get the hebrew "lo"

Take the wise "Yoda" from Star Wars. Hebrew "yodea" ("I know"). Now you do know why a Spielberg picked the name "Yoda" for the guy. And during watching season 4, you are now able to figure out, what the frustrated "yodati" means (sisters realize they have mistakenly put the wrong fuel in their car)

Words directly taken from or similar to German e.g. cremeschnitt (German "Kremschnitte") or knedela (German "Knödel")
Words similar to English e.g. afraid => afrid.

Of cause I have no grasp of the hebrew grammatical system. But - I optimistically assume :funny: -I kind of understand what people are saying. Kind of fun to play with hebrew :).

In Episode 4...

-Teams continue with the previously-described human statue task, while Dor & Sapir and Ben & Ori finish up the Detour.
-Some teams are lucky enough to get all 10 Euros from a single tourist
-Ben & Ori have the most difficult time finding a local to cooperate, putting them into last place.
-Teams are told to find the place where White Smoke appears, referring to the Piazza Porta Pia near the Vatican City
-I'm not 100% sure, but I think Lee & Tal actually wandered into the Vatican City itself. Whoops?
-In a carbon copy of the basket-stacking task we've seen on plenty of international editions (Which, again, is not a bad thing - Israeli viewers have not seen this yet), one team member must make a stack of plastic baskets high enough to reach a bowl of Tiramisu hanging six metres above the ground. After succeeding, they are treated to Tiramisu and Italian Coffee before getting the next clue
-Raz tries jumping for his Tiramisu, and ends up smashing his leg on the baskets.
-Monada starts climbing but gets too scared, so Adriano has to do it instead.
-Naomi & Hen arrive amongst the top three, but they continually fail the task, presumably due to their heavier weight. More and more teams pass them until they eventually finish the task all the way in last place.
-Teams are told to travel to Sant'Agnese in Agone, a church in Rome, but we don't see any teams arriving yet.

Oh right, that's next time.

At least it allows for more tasks, it would be impossible to cram all this into an hour like we're used to in the west!

Oh my goodness, so far I found this season interesting (yup, with all those dynamics). I guess I'm rooting more into Alex & Josie (cheers!), but I constantly see if I can root others, because sometimes I fell in love with some teams. That fifth episode was a blast though, full of stuffs that made the Race more interesting, even surprising. (And the second leg was just that interesting, well done!)

Oh yes, do you guys have an idea about the English subtitles? I'm looking for it anywhere but I couldn't find it. (although I understand a little bit, perhaps I hope I can improve with this; because I'm also learning Hebrew atm), thanks before.

Unfortunately, subtitles for international Races never ever seem to materialize. I can only remember two episodes that have ever done this.

Thankfully, HaMerotz LaMillion is already subtitled in Hebrew. So if there's something you need to know, you will be able to even though it will take a bit of effort.

I use this site (http://www.lexilogos.com/keyboard/hebrew.htm) to type out Hebrew characters with a lot of ease. It helps to try to learn which letters equal what in English, as the keyboard is mapped out in the same way. Just use it to type out the sentence you want to understand, then throw it into Google Translate.

Episode 6...

>Teams receive cars for this leg
>They must drive to a race track in Viterbo, where one team member drives a go-kart around the track for three laps. Their partner must change one of the kart's tires after laps one and two. The whole task must be done within 13 minutes.
>Teams drive to Via Cassia in Sutri, where they have to learn a flag dancing sequence. Similar to the TAR12 Detour. Amit struggles and gets frustrated, but eventually gets it.
>Ancient roman ampitheatre in Sutri...
FACE OFF!!! One team member from each competing team puts on a helmet that blinds them, and they enter the ring with a net. Following the verbal instructions of their partners, they must toss the net over their opponent to win the match. They also forfeit the match if they go outside the ring. First team to win two matches gets the next clue.

What is it with the Face Offs, where it's like..."We lost one match, darn that sucks let's try again. We lost two matches, THIS IS IMPOSSIBLE I CAN'T DO THIS!!"
Naomi loses her first Face Off against Shon, and then when Raz wins another match against her, she decides she's going to give up completely and accept elimination. She says to Hen "I want to go home." After ONE AND A HALF LOSSES. She completely forfeits the match against Josie & Alex before finally getting the motivation to try again, whereupon she defeats Dor.

After the FACE OFF is the YIELD VOTE, and this is really interesting. As it stands, we have a THREE-WAY tie for who will get Yielded. Gali & Daniel, Dor & Sapir and Naomi & Hen each have two votes. The thing is that Dor & Sapir are still serving the penalty for losing the Face Off and haven't voted by the time the episode ends. If they don't break the tie by voting for one of the other two, then three teams will get Yielded at once. (I actually hope that happens...or better yet they vote for someone else and make it a FOUR WAY TIE!! Haha)

No doubt about it, Dor & Sapir won't be around for long. It's only leg 3 and already they've been targeted twice and lost a Double-Battle.

A whole week now until the Pit Stop!  (:;)
Title: Re: TAR ISRAEL 5 SHOW Discussion *spoilers*
Post by: G.B. on June 08, 2016, 04:39:21 PM
Yup, we now have a 4-way tie for the Yield. Four teams are going to get Yielded at the end of this leg. Madness!!

>In the narrow streets of Sutri, teams take two baskets of laundry and enter the opposite-facing houses of the Capulets and the Montagues. Small and Medium articles of clothing belong to the Capulets, while Large and Extra Large belong to the Montagues. If one team member has the wrong family's clothes, they have to throw it across the narrow street to the opposite balcony for their partner to catch. Hanging all the clothes on the clothesline, teams have to look for "something". This ends up being an XXXL article of clothing.
>Giuseppe's Farm, Campagnano: Carry olives by hand up a small inclined path that is slick with olive oil. Carry up a total of 5kg of olives.
  >Josie takes a bad fall and thinks he's broken a rib (Probably just bruised)
>Piazza Navona, Rome: Teams are given a tablet with camera and told to become paparazzi. They have to figure out that the star they are looking for is Tom Baum from Season 4 (Tom & Uriel, 2nd place)
>Pincho Park, Rome: Yield reveal, hours of operation.

Okay, we really didn't need to see the graphic, uncensored shot of Raz projectile vomiting. Who wants to see that, honestly?!

But today, we learn that big strong men Adriano and Josie are frightened little mice. Their screams in the Dracula house were absolutely hysterical.

You can tell that the editors have a lot of fun with this show. Josie & Alex fall asleep on the taxi ride back to Bucharest, so the editors re-play audio from their frightening time at the Dracula task. Makes it look like they're dreaming about their traumatic event. I was in stitches.

And yet another tied Yield. Hmm...

Noticing a pattern here that could possibly translate into a final memory challenge? Every leg has an impersonator of a famous figure.

2 - Neptune
3 - Galileo
4 - Dracula

Let's see if this continues.

Since last week they have been airing the episodes on Mondays and Tuesdays, i don't know if this is something temporal or definitive. Leg 5 was only 2 episodes long, so yes, the leg is already over. Leg 6 begins next monday (11 July)

It seems to me that teams aren't even allowed to take time penalties on this version of the race. I wonder how this would go over on other versions? (cough Vietnam cough China cough)

Also, yet again there's no penalty for the Non-Elimination leg. That's just weird...

Noticing a pattern here that could possibly translate into a final memory challenge? Every leg has an impersonator of a famous figure.

2 - Neptune
3 - Galileo
4 - Dracula

Let's see if this continues.

There's none in Leg 5. TAR Israel is full of impersonators, so this is nothing new.

I have a cultural question. I've noticed that language in this show is never censored (I'm not talking about when they say English swear words, I mean they never censor Hebrew speech). Are there, like, no curse words in Hebrew?

Why didn't Josie participate in the salt lake task?

Josie has an allergy to iodine, which essentially means he can't go into salt water.

Where was Leg 6 located, there's nowhere to find information  :gaah:.

Leg 6 is not over yet. It takes place in the deserts of the Erongo region, and then in the city of Swakopmund. Do you guys still want me to do my quick little recaps here? Remember, I only update the wikis after legs are finished.

Wow, I have gotta say that Lee & Tal are the worst Jenga players I have ever seen. You don't take an edge piece out after the middle piece is already gone! That's basic physics!

Why didn't Josie participate in the salt lake task?

Josie has an allergy to iodine, which essentially means he can't go into salt water.

What does "גיסות" mean for Naomi & Hen? Translating only give me "troops". Are they in the Israeli army?

So far on Leg 6:
-Overnight journey to the Moon Valley in Erongo, to village of the Demara tribe.
--Ritual to join the tribe: dress in traditional clothes, dance with the locals, then drink something foul-tasting (not disclosed on the show what it is)
--Fill a bucket with water from the tribe's reservoir, then use two sticks to carry it 1.5km. Each team member holds a stick, pointing them backwards and crossing them to hold the bucket.
--Use sticks, grass and elephant dung to light a fire (TAR22 task) Adriano badly hurts his hands by failing this too many times
--Enter a field with 18 underground storage holes, used by locals to store food. Each team member reaches into one, where something disgusting is inside. It's a memory game, keep doing this until nine matches are made.
--Yield Vote (Another three-way tie between L/T, T/A and Y/Y)
-Drive to the Swakopmund Salt Company
--Step into the artificial pink lake and harvest salt from the lakebed to fill a 25kg bag.
--Load this bag of salt onto a cart that already has salt on it, making a total of 50kg, and haul it 1km to a salt pile.
--Dig for the next clue in this gigantic salt pile, at least 50 feet high (Clues are in camouflaged white boxes, but not buried more than a foot under the surface)
-Drive into Swakopmund, find the Namib High School
--FACE OFF: Play Jenga with large cardboard boxes. (Invented by a white man living in east Africa). Naomi & Hen lose.
--Yield Reveal
-Drive to Dune 7 (Which may or may not be the Matterhorn Sand Dune from TAR2)
...Next time

Thanks! I thought it was something like that.

Yeah, I couldn't believe they did that. Ben & Ori were staring at them when it happened probably thinking "please tell me she is actually doing this". But the thing is, it happened more than once! Naomi & Chen did it too!

I have a cultural question. I've noticed that language in this show is never censored (I'm not talking about when they say English swear words, I mean they never censor Hebrew speech). Are there, like, no curse words in Hebrew?

Based on older episodes I can sort of answer this! Censoring has come up a few times in Season 3. The English cursing isn't, but a few times there's been a word in the subtitles that's mostly *** and a beeping. Of course I don't know what they said, so I couldn't tell you if racers don't cuss anymore or if it's just not censored.

So thrilled to see them going to a second African country next leg (Zanzibar!), the US never does this anymore.

Yeah I don't really count TAR27 Zambia/Zimbabwe since it was 2 legs in the same immediate vicinity :P

Leg 7, part 1:

>Fly from Walvis Bay to Zanzibar (Yeah, no stop in Dar es Salaam)
Teams provided vehicles with drivers for this leg.
>Seaweed Centre
Work together to harvest the seaweed from 25 seaweed lines, making sure to replace the stakes at the ends of the lines in the proper spot.
  U-Turn Vote
>Sunset Bay Resort
  DETOUR
Barmen: Copy of the drink-pouring task from TAR24 (and many other international versions). Differing from other versions of this task, however, is that teams are given no instructions. They can fill up the seven glasses any way they want to, so long as there is no mixing and minimal spillage.
Waiter: One team member carries two serving trays with tropical drinks and fruit, standing up on the end of a paddleboard while their partner paddles them out to a boat with customers.
U-TURN - Yael & Yosiel are U-Turned in a 3-2-1-1-1 vote. They finish their second task ahead of two of the teams who U-Turn them.
Teams then take a mandatory break from the race (again...)
>Kichanga Lodge
Teams become models and follow the instructions of a photographer to take beachside pictures. At the end, a snake is brought in to join them in the pictures. (a BIG snake). They have to keep smiling and posing in spite of the snake.
Alex has a phobia, but Josie and Adriano are just as skittish. Ori is afraid the snake will bite his nipples.
>British School of Zanzibar
  ...to be continued

Ugh...These 'take a mandatory break' tasks are fine, but why do they always happen for two legs in a row??

Interestingly enough, not a single person says "Tanzania" in the entire episode, referring to Zanzibar as if it's its own country.

It's not much different from talking about Tahiti. Nobody ever talks about France.

I thought it was pretty odd, too, that they chose to have another break 'task' when in the previous leg - previous episode in fact - they did the same thing. I wonder if they're because of the show's sponsor.

They did the same thing in Season 3, when both legs of Cuba had a relaxing task :/

Noticing a pattern here that could possibly translate into a final memory challenge? Every leg has an impersonator of a famous figure.

2 - Neptune
3 - Galileo
4 - Dracula

Let's see if this continues.

Don't forget Lady Chacha from Preliminaries 2 (a.k.a. Leg 1 Part 2) (that task when the participants have to bring stuffs to her for the next clue, candies or something).

Hmm... I'm not sure if it is, or am I seeing it wrong? But that will be interesting to see on the Final Task memory challenge though. :)

Episode 2 in Zanzibar!

>British School of Zanzibar
Film a choreographed music video to Shakira's Waka Waka (This Time for Africa) (Best dancer award goes to Amit)

>Old Dispensary, Stone Town
Receive a spice mix called 'al-Merotz'. One team member will smell the mixture to identify what's in it, while their partner tastes the 20 available spices to pick out the 8 used to make the mix. Once a replica of the spice mix is made, teams get the next clue.

>Darajani Market
Food such as nuts and beans are sold to customers in 'cones' made of newspaper. Teams will find 80 cones here filled with nuts and/or beans. They will open the cone and eat whatever is inside, continuing on and on until they find the one single cone that has the next clue in it.
This clue is printed on one of the newspapers making up the cone. It's a picture of Ron Shahar, and next to him is Arabic text that says "Where is Freddy?"
(Unfortunately, many of the locals incorrectly translate this as 'Farid', an Arabic name, leading to much confusion)
(Monada & Adriano miss the clue and end up eating ALL 80 cones)

>Birthplace of Freddy Mercury
Hours of Operation, teams will begin the next task in the same order they arrive
  ...to be continued...

Agreed. In my opinion, I hope they have an Unfinished Business-like season, so they can return and redeem themselves. (I have some of the teams as a candidate as well, hopefully the next few seasons can complete it up)

~ And the whole leg, honestly, was a total game changer. One of the best legs imo. The season itself is getting interesting. :D Can't wait to see what the next legs will give us, and Africa will never cease to amaze me after all <3

Yes, the geo-block has returned. Gah! That's why I'm so late.
A night leg in India, hm? Those are kinda rare. In the first episode, Ben is really struggling in India because he has claustrophobia (I think, anyway)

>Fly to New Delhi
>Shahid Ashpaka Ole Khan Fish Market (or something)
Each team member grabs five live catfish and puts them in baskets, which they carry on their heads across the market
   U-Turn vote. Another 2-way tie.
>Agrasan Ki Baoli (or something)
Many men in turbans (saris?) walking around. Find the one with the little race flag attached to the inside of theirs. If wrong, spend a minimum 10-minute penalty re-wrapping the turban.
>Main Bazaar Market
   DETOUR:
Edible: Take three canisters of food and a rickshaw. One holds the food and one pedals. Search for Heena Beauty Parlor somewhere in the chaotic market to deliver the food.
Fragile: Load clay pots onto a tray and deliver 25 unbroken.
   U-TURN
>Kikar Nero Place (or something)
One team member puts on a sandwich board (haha...pun) that looks like pita bread for a falafel. The other uses a squirt gun thing to shoot Amba sauce at them, trying to fill up a 1L vial on the inside of the sandwich board.
>Cafe 21 Bakery
Receive an invitation to Aja and Ananda's wedding. Pick up a 30kg wedding cake and carry it to the wedding
>Shuba Lagam Wedding Hall
Location of the wedding, where the cake is delivered. Teams then have one hand from each tied together, an Indian wedding tradition. After meeting the bride and groom, search through a huge pile of wedding presents for one with a race flag inside. Some of the presents have extra tasks inside:
1: Sing the bride a Hebrew bridal song.
2: Feed each other an entire 'level' of wedding cake.
  3: Dance with the grandmothers.
4: Dance with 10 guests in a conga line.
5: Toast the bride and groom.
>Dimple Farm
Teams are presented with nine advanced yoga techniques and must perform three correctly, holding them for 10 seconds.
>Institute for Driving and Traffic
   ...to be continued...

Google says it's the "Shaheed Ashfaque Ullah Khan Fish Market" (which I think is the same location as the TARCan3 fish market), Agrasen Ki Baoli and the bazaar is near Rama Krishna Park IIRC (can't help with Kikar Nero tho lol)

I like the leg so far, hopefully the driving (RB?) just adds to that

Hi! I'm here! Sorry!

South Korea so far (three episodes, but the leg is not over):

>Seoul Land Amusement Park
Ride the rollercoaster, look for a complex math equation along the way. Solve it, or ride the coaster again.
(Josie nearly quits the race here)
>Noryangjin Fisheries Wholesale Market
Six boxes with live seafood inside. Must take a specified amount by hand to the vendor with the same number as written on the box. 30-minute time limit for each delivery. After opening a container, must take that food and cannot change. (The boxes are in pairs with the same number)
  (Ori freaks out again)
>Yangchon Hanori Park (I can't find this location. Help?)
FACE OFF: Real-life version of the (probably fake) video game, Hongimon: Grab the Cheese. One dresses as character from the game and crawls through a maze, while partner looks from above and directs them. One team is mouse, and must find the cheese to score point. One team is cat, and must find the mouse to score point. Best of three.
>Kolon Sporex, Seocho
Korean game show. Jump into the pond and put together 11 floating pieces that form the South Korean flag. The twist is that one team member must be wrapped in bubble wrap, and the other must paddle them like a boat. If wrong, pieces must be thrown back in to the pool.
>Namsangol Hanok Village
Huge array of Korean food, find one bowl that is made of plastic. Eat anything picked up. Each team member selects one, but only one needs to be plastic to succeed.
>Gwanghwamun Gate, Gyeongbokgung
90 cards with characters from Asian languages, pick out the five Korean letters. These spell the next destination. Teams can only take 5 with them to ask locals.
>Luxury Karaoke
Play Tuho, throw five bamboo sticks into a thin pot. Given 20 sticks. If run out, must spend 10 minutes singing popular songs in karaoke.
  YIELD VOTE
>Samsung Delight (at Seocho-Gu)
Search the ground floor for one video screen showing Ron, which says '2nd floor'. There, they will find a video call with their loved ones at home.
>Su Noraebang
  ...to be continued...

Sadness on this most recent episode. Josie gets a video call from his father all the way in France. After the call ends, but before Josie comes home from filming, his father passes away. A special message is at the end, extending condolences to his family.

Hi all -

This last episode in Korea was a non-elimination leg.. Jose and Alex were last because they had a 15 minute yield.
Ben and Ori passed them by mere seconds and they ended up on the mat together.

BTW - Ben is not claustrophobic, Uri didn't want to take the fish in his hands because he felt that it was cruel and hurting the fish. (same thing in India).
Ben got very mad at him but he bounced back.

Placements at the end of the 9th leg (S. Korea):

1. Raz and Amit
2. Tzion and Aviv
3.  Lee and Tal
4. Yael and Yosiel
5. Ben and Ori
6. Jose and Alex

Here is a link (always working) to watch live (this Tuesday 21:00 IDT):  :wohoo:

Ivan, as far as I heard there's no showing of HMLM 5 tonight due to this show called "Me'orvevim" (?) (מעורבבים) taking over their slot? It was posted in HMLM's official page, I just wanted to make sure. Thanks before! :) (also thanks for the link though, it'll be very helpful)

Or the editor didn't know that it's unaired? I'm not really sure though, I checked on the site and it doesn't show a signal of any new ep. The only thing I know is someone posting a piece of recap/preview-like and sort of thing like on 3am my time (UTC+7). The commercial said it'll be on Sunday, though.

Anyone can help us with this? Thanks before. :)
[attached here are the one I captured from their official FB last night my time]

...and the main point of the post is the other show took HMLM's slot, hence there's no showing. (post modified, adding this part to avoid confusion)

Well, I just saw the promo and it will be somehow like a recap? Somehow the first recap of this season, I thought there would never be recaps, honestly :D (and it's pre-Final 6 Part 2 recap *since the last one was a non-elimination*) tonight 9pm IDT.

>Fly to Hanoi, Vietnam
>Hanoi Opera House
Stand on the roof and watch the busy traffic roundabout, looking for seven numbers on vehicles and people. Then go to a motorcycle parking lot nearby and find one of a few license plates that have those seven numbers.
(Ben & Ori jump into a taxi, when it's only like a block away. Their driver takes them on an unwitting tour of Hanoi before dropping them back off at the Opera House)
  U-TURN VOTE (J&A)
>Hoan Kiem Lake
  DETOUR
Slow: Perform Tai Chi for 30 straight minutes.
Fast: Perform cardio aerobics for 30 straight minutes.
  U-TURN REVEAL
>Truc Bach Lake Marina
Ride in a swan boat and take a break from the race for X minutes, enjoying some fresh fruit.
>School next door ("Hau Hoc Van"?)
FACE OFF: Vietnamese sport that probably has a name, I just don't know it. Two sit on a thin pole and balance there, while hitting each other with padded sacks trying to knock the other off. 2 team member from each team fight, then the other two fight. If there's a tie, then any team member can fight in the tie breaker.
Josie & Alex last place, 15-minute penalty.

I gotta say, I am really getting tired of these "Take a break from the race" tasks, especially when there's more than one per season. Especially considering we just had the "call from home" episode during the last leg, AND a recap episode before this one.

@BourkieBoy: All episodes of TAR Israel have Hebrew subtitles. The best way to watch is to just watch, and then pause if there's something you REALLY need to understand, then translate those subtitles. The team intros during episode 1 are exceptionally long. The race gets going after they're done.

Also, asking this once again, please please please be considerate and place future locations in spoiler tags. I really hate having to carefully scroll through the posts and hide my eyes in a panic.

Us here usually called that task as "pillow war", it also exist here though (in Indonesia), but last time I saw it was the Independence Day for fun competition or something between people and/or neighborhood. :)

What was up with Josie & Alex's cab on the way to the pit stop?

A Cambodian policeman yelled "Pull over!" to their driver. When J&A asked the policeman what was going on, he told them "Wait five minutes". The two ran off on foot before anything else could be learned. It looked like about five or six tuktuks had been pulled over.

For the record, the Pit Stop was less than a mile away from the coin-counting task. A Tuktuk wasn't even really necessary.

So, let me explain where these locations are:

Brighton Beach: Brighton Beach is located in the suburb of Brighton. Brighton is located 11km south of the city. Brighton Beach is famous for it's colourful bathing boxes, which in fact, are heritage-listed

Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre: This is the best aquatic centre in Melbourne. It is located in the suburb of Albert Park (which is famous for it's lake and it's Grand Prix course) which is 3km south of the city. This centre hosted the squash, diving swimming and table tennis events of the 2006 Commonwealth Games ( :colors)

Royal Exhibition Building: This building is a World Heritage site, located in Carlton, which is located 2km north of the city. This building used to host the Melbourne Museum, (before it moved to a site opposite.) It is now used as an exam hall for various schools an exhibition hall (very rarely) and hosts the Melbourne International Flower and Garden Show.

Docklands Pier: This pier is located in Docklands, which is 2km west of the city. Even though I have been to the Docklands MANY times, I can't seem to figure out where this is located  ???

I hope all of this information help everyone who was unsure about Melbourne. If you are still unsure about these locations, PM me, or put it in this thread  :)

One thing Israel's done differently from most other versions, and China also did this season, is not having the finish line in their home country. Which is kinda cool.

I think this was everything.

At the City Marina in Docklands teams had to wear a kangaroo costume and spring shoes, and from a collection of 20 pictures correctly choose which 12 are Australian. The judge would say how many were correct but not which.

At the Melbourne Museum, teams played a giant trivia board game, with the board being divided into the countries they visited. They roll the die to advance, and on each space they landed on they had to answer a question about that country's leg. If they got it wrong they had to do an extra task related to the leg (e.g. get a Romania question wrong and you have to eat a large plate of the stuff they ate at the Double-Battle). Between each country was a special space where they drew a card telling them to move their token to a specific country. The Australia leg questions were special, because instead of being questions about something from earlier in the day they were questions about previous seasons!

Teams were told to find the neighbor Charlene Robinson on Bourke Street (between Elizabeth Street and Swanston). They'd have to figure out this was referring to Kylie Minogue , but actually only one team went up to her knowing who she was. The others either were directed to her by a local or just went up to the most well-dressed out-of-place lady there. Kylie (I'm not sure if this was actually her or just an impersonator) then sang "Especially For You" to each team and gave them a tablet that played a special message from loved ones.

At the National Gallery, one team member had to hang upside down from a harness and spray paint a picture of their team while the other person pulled the ropes to move them up/down/left/right. After two stencil layers they'd switch places for the last stencil.

At Chez Dré one team member had to make and decorate a cake. But because this is HaMerotz LaMillion it was far more complicated than that. The baker had a screen covering their eyes so all they could see was a feed from a camera their teammate wore on their head, which meant they were essentially watching themselves from their teammate's perspective.

At Simonds Stadium, teams had to count the number of players running around the pitch. They would then use this number to find a seat with a clue envelope. If the number was correct, inside the envelope was the clue to the next location, but if the number was wrong they'd have to do a training exercise for a set amount of time before they could try again.

The pit stop was at Geelong Town Hall, and the greeter was the mayor who I think many of the Aussie readers are familiar with.

Once again, I will explain these locations:

Melbourne Museum: This museum is located directly opposite the Royal Exhibition Building (see last post) It houses the largest collection of exhibits in the Southern Hemisphere, including the mounted hide of Phar Lap (Australia's second-best racehorse) This museum is located in the suburb of Carlton, which is located 2km north of the city.
Bourke Street: Great street, because it is named after me! It is one of Melbourne's most important streets and the 'shopping strip capital of Australia.' It hosts the famous Myer Christmas Windows (which r  :colors) and just an amazing street that I always like to walk on. This street is located in the centre of the CBD.
National Gallery of Victoria: This gallery hosts maybe some of the most famous paintings in the world, including the 'Weeping Woman' (which was stolen in August 1986 and found 2 weeks later) This museum is found in Southbank, which is 1km south of the city.
Chez Dre: Not sure what this is. I've never heard of it  ??? :umn:
Simonds Stadium: This stadium is located in Victoria's second-largest city of Geelong (which is 75km south-west of Melbourne) This sporting ground can be used for AFL (mainly) and/or cricket. It is the home ground of AFL team Geelong Cats and has a capacity of 27,000.

There we are, hope this helped!  :)

HaMerotz LaMillion (used to) film the finales while the season was airing. However I'm pretty sure this season did what last season did and filmed the final city with the rest of the season, filming the results in Israel much later. I couldn't tell you when the finish line was filmed, though. (Sorry Peach :( )

One way to find out. What day was the Melbourne Star (the ferris wheel) closed? Remember we found that notice well before filming got there. That was one of the final leg locations.

Edit: Found the post, December 4 their time. (It's somewhere in the TAR28 speculation thread but disappeared from the search for some reason after I posted this)

Wow, what an exciting finale! Lots of TAR fans got encountered down in Melbourne. They definitely deserved to win, because they never got scared and never hesitated at anything.

I have NO idea which beach the "Hello" task took place on. BourkieBoy? It's some big beach that isn't the one with the beach houses? I couldn't see any nearby street signs or businesses besides a random 7-11...

All I know is they took a yacht from the Docklands Pier to get there.

Melbourne Star will be CLOSED on Friday 4 December 2015 due to filming on the Star by a globally renowned adventure reality series who will be attempting an exciting and exclusive stunt.

But filming in Melb would not be the Finish...   ???

WEll, Leg 13 is in Australia and so maybe they did film in Melbourne. At least we know one location featured:
The Melbourne Stat.
Do we have any more locations?

Through all 14 legs of this race, there were only 5 Detours and 4 Roadblocks...

Oh haha. I actually though this was a actual fund on RFF! That is disgusting. TAR Isreal should be ashamed of themselves.

Going off of Google Earth, it looks like the beach is in Port Melbourne. I don't know what it's called though. It's behind the Caffe di Lido in case you can't find it.

Well, looking at totally random and unreliable posts on Google Earth, that part seems to be an extension of St Kilda beach anyway

Port Melbourne beach, is just called Port Melbourne Beach. I don't think it has a name. Caffe di Lido is an Italian café (which I have never tried. I always go to Café Grumento, which is right next to the last tram stop in Melbourne). What did they do on Port Melbourne beach?

For those who can understand Hebrew, what kinds of things was Raz talking about on the finish line? I saw the clip (Facebook page), he was doing all the talking but I don't know a word of it.

Thought I saw a comment saying Amit was going to give him all the money :) That's why I'm curious to know. Some of it was probably your usual "this race was truly incredible, I wouldn't do it with anyone else, etc"

How much is the prize money? I think is 50,000 Hebrew money (whatever it's called), but I'm not sure.

Which by the way is equal to a little under $270,000 USD

Ehh, it's not actually that bad. It might actually be the 2nd biggest prize. TAR Canada's prize is 250,000 Canadian dollars and TAR Australia's prize is 250,000 Australian dollars (both about equal to $192,000 USD)

And to actually respond to your comment about the leg's length, HaMerotz LaMillion has tended to make their final leg only one episode long (although even still, the last two seasons have had fairly short legs). You really ought to check out the episodes, especially since you know the area. They're a lot of fun, even without knowing the language. :)

And seriously, most of the tasks in this season are the hard Route Infos (or some tricky)... well honestly along watching I was like "well this task could be a Roadblock... why not making it a Roadblock committees?" but yeah... I hope more RBs and Detours in the future :)

What is it that Josie & Alex sing in multiple episodes? Anybody know?
I apologize if my answer came three years later, but somehow I just realized that they sang Patrick Sebastien's Les Sardines most often among any other songs after I double-checked (and with my limited French).
