I'm not too familiar with the other teams, but if in total all of the teams can pull in 300k to 500k new viewers for all or part of the season, it's nothing to sneeze at.

The finale was also the best finale since 21 lol, even though the winners weren't good it was an overall decent season!

I don't get the hate of 26. Ok, the Asian part is pretty awful but after that it was AMAZING. :res:
Just because it had twist doesn't mean it will become bad season tbh.
It can be worse actually, but the teams seem really diverse. I mean we have brothers, and parent/child, and newlyweds. If we don't look at their status as social media stars, it's just like regular season.
Secondly, the reaction on Twitter has been massive and overwhelmingly positive, aside from some "Why isn't my favorite internet star on TAR?"
As a local, I'm not really impressed by both Thailand legs. Lol :lol:I really like this challenge because I can see the different between 1,000 year egg in Bangkok and 1,000 year egg in HCMC. :funny: The one in Bangkok has pink eggshell and the one in HCMC is covered by some kind of herb, I think.
It was entertaining for sure, but some tasks were so wtf. (What even is 1,000 years old egg lol, 18 years spending in Bangkok and I have NEVER heard or saw anyone eat it. And visit the iron graveyard? Really? That's like one of the LAST place I would visit in Bangkok.)

I decided to watch the announcement vids of the teams available, and I'm actually surprised on how good this cast is. Except from maybe Tyler's video, almost all the other teams seem like normal people racing and not camera-whoring like Joey did (I like Joey/Meghan but lol I know how irritating he can be).
Plus some of these teams have actually never vlogged in their entire YouTube career (and a lot of other racer's partners), so their personalities will definitely be something to maybe look forward to.

Umm so there was an HoO after the Detour?? And the teams are released at different times only to get a clue to the Pit Stop?? This is what I hate about TAR 27!! :groan:
At the caves they spent the night camping outside, at 6:45am 1st team was released to search for a clue in the typical cactus landscape to find clue that said proceed into the caves to assemble prehuspanic mosaic mask from the Teotihuacan culture.
I know, but doesn't it make the very first task (Detour) of the Race pointless? Oh well, didn't this happen before in an older season (Leg 1 HoO)? I think it was Romber's season?

Isually there would be restrictions on cameras directly pointing at the racers but I think they are making an exception in this season because of the whole social media aspect of it. I don't think selfie with fans is problem at all. In season 26, I remember one of spoilers here took photos with Tyler and Laura at Narita Airport.

Another Switzerland leg, but I have no problem with them having winter legs there. It is just picture perfect seeing all those snow-capped mountains and snowy surroundings. Another leg in France, no problem again. It's like a different perspective of France. We get to see it in its snowy state. Glad they visited Geneva and Chamonix. Some of us are disappointed that we're getting overused EU countries, I mean there are a ton of underused and unvisited EU nations out there but on the bright side be happy that we're getting Europe for this season despite the recent events. Also, Switzerland is one of the safest countries in the world.
I'm not sure if I'm the only one, but I'm actually fine with France being visited for the 3rd time in a row. They were at the mountains on TAR26, at the city in TAR27, and now on the snow!
This reminds me how most people whined about having Indonesia being visited for the 3rd time in a row during TAR23 spoilers period. :funny: I'm fine with Indonesia that time because of the awesome spoilers. This time, I think it's the theme of the legs despite being in the same nation. :)

I get the sense we have a few feminists on this board that believe if a team isn't FF they need to be eliminated ASAP. I'm not one to judge a team based off what genders make the team up though.
Sounds like we are getting 5 continents and 10 countries! I'd imagine that Oceania will be the last of those continents and I wonder where they will head to! Hoping for Fiji or Samoa personally and Australia or New Zealand for the penultimate leg!
First of all I root for FF teams more because I want them to prove their worth, prove to people they are more than the hair and makeup. Girls, to say least, are always underestimated but on the race cheerleaders excel and prove people how strong they can be. That is what I like to see.

+1. Having F/F teams that make it very far is very rare. I root for them because they all have something to prove. F/F teams are always underestimated. The only F/F teams I know who've made the Finals looking at Season 20 to present are Caroline & Jennifer and Amy & Maya. The last time we had 2 F/F's in the Finals was in Season 17 with Nat & Kat and Brooke & Claire and way long back in All Stars (Season 11) Charla & Mirna and Dustin & Kandice. Also several others who could have made at least the Top 5 if it weren't the circumstances that happend to them like Nicky & Kim who were U-Turned by that Tim & Marie and Nary & Jamie who fell short by 15 minutes in Tanzania depsite 2 teams were U-Turned that leg.

You haven't seen the teams in action, you probably know nothing about most (if not all) of them and you already complain they will be unlikeable enough for you to skip the season? This seems close to a Facebook fan's post "omg social media ewww what has happened to TAR I'll skip pls cancel" :lol:
I'd be VERY interested to know what you found so "redeeming" about the FF teams. IMO 2 of them seemed pretty blank (but again, I've seen just a little) and the MF teams seem very diverse this season. We've got a pair of hip choreographers, a couple of geeky, but cool gamers, a rather ordinary couple including and amazing Vine star and also a mother/son team :trampb: Oh yeah, and then there is Blair & Scott, but I found Blair annoying in the video, so I'm not gonna share my love for her.

(Even TAR19 Yogyakarta, TAR21 Surabaya, and TAR23 Bandung can do so.) But I think selling Bakso was fine since it's kinda cultural relevance with Bakso as Indonesian cuisine icon.

We are pretty careful here to not put teams at risk by releasing specific info about their locations before hand, so no Start or Finish line info until it happens.
In a perfect world, whenever possible we do not generally release any Final 3 info, team ID's until after the start, or their finish order. Part of that stems from long experience that knowing the finish order KILLS speculation and suspense, which is not good for the show. And much more fun to speculate on the final 3 makeup.
This season we did not have that luxury. Sadly a premature spoiler revealing the Final 3 was released elsewhere (production leak?), and despite their and our best efforts, we were unable to stop the tidal wave of info from spreading.
So when it came down to actual sightings yesterday, it didn't make much sense to hide the Final 3 when it was already completely known. But we would not have shared the Finish order or any placements except right at the start when there was still a whole day to change things up.
And yes, I personally Hate bootlists and am quite sad that the Final 3 and 4 were revealed. I think it is the first time in a LONG time that we have not been able to keep that info protected, if known. But we have also seen CBS being less careful themselves lately. In 27, they clearly spoiled one of the final 4, one of the final 3 and gave strong hints about others, all from ill-chosen press releases and video footage. (I think they need my eagle eye to avoid that!) Locations have posted on their own pages and even on FB that the race is coming to them...all of which could be prevented by clear production NDA guidelines. So :duno:
Both BVM and Phil have been quoted recently that spoilers are beig re-looked at, that the start line etc is no longer seen to be needed to be protected. I think we would ALL agree that the most important thing that needs to be protected to keep the show suspense alive is the final 3/4 and the outcome. We couldn't save the final 3 secret, but the outcome will never be shared at RFF purposefully.
But watch out CBS...LOCATIONS and tasks are fair game and boy are we ON IT!! :yess:

Agree with all of this, with the exception of this China visit. The last 3 China locale visited was all within Pearl River Delta area and close proximity to each other (Guangzhou, HK, Macau, Shenzhen)

I have no proof one way or the other, but I suspect they held the teams at the Mexico City airport until the last teams arrived. Remember the delay on the live stream (at least an hour) and then suddenly all the teams arrived to pick up the first clue in an 8-10 minute period? That sounds like they all left the airport together and random traffic and driving choices spread them out slightly.

I wish we were given a 1.5 to 2hr premiere episode, especially with the outcome of the first leg in mind. It also gives new viewers a bigger dose of what the race is which would be nice since getting new viewers seems to be the intent this season.

I actually noticed this a couple weeks ago, but forgot to mention it lol. Also note how legs 1-3 are in Latin America, 4-5 are in an unique environment (the beautiful green Africa and snowy European mountains), legs 6-8 are in a similar region for those 3 legs (Europe and Southwest Asia), legs 9-10 are in either South or Southeast Asia, and then leg 11 is obvious
And somehow TARAu's intros even with the recycled stock footage still looks more amazing than TARUS in the HD era. Very strange.

Dislike the intro, I prefer team names on below of screen like other TAR intros.I don't mind the font size, but there is too much going on with the name animation like hiding behind the team (e.g. Burnie, Scott, Zach) and moving separate directions (e.g. Brittney & Jessica). Team scenes could have been a lot better and moreso, authentic looking.

I don't know what to feel right now about this season. I don't understand the praise for the editing. The first 30 minutes and Pit Stop scenes felt very messy, rushed, and the cuts into commercial breaks during that time was less than methodical.
Editing was unbalanced like the past two seasons. Examples: Five second scene combos of Sheri & Cole hugging family and shedding tears before starting the race/teams being hyperexcited (so overbearing), surge of teams taking on the Detour and immediate intruding commercial break (:groan:) and "Pit Stop problems" AGAIN, as a casual issue (No $2K prize announcement? And PS placements still neglected to be mentioned).
Honestly, Sheri & Cole saved that premiere from going in the ranks of 24 and 20 for me.
D. Rewatch the episode. Phil actually read out NINE out of ELEVEN team placements (only Zach/Rachel and Darius/Cameron didn't). This is the most team placements he's ever read out loud for the Friday era on one episode.

I believe TAR 25 Leg 1 (the season they started leaving out placement-calling aha) had nine out of eleven placements as well. I might be wrong, but only Keith & Whitney and Michael & Scott's placements were left out.
The matter is the editing still felt unbalanced in the first 15 or so minutes. Introductions are important just like the rest of the premiere. It's what we see first to get a vibe from the season. As for the past two seasons, the editing felt pretty awkward at times. Concerning TAR26 even though it was better than half of the HD seasons: Leg 1's super long starting line and incredibly repetitive robotic dancing Detour (though most of the blame is on its ridiculous 2-hour slot), too many party scenes in Phuket, Bergen & Kurt becoming enemies for no apparent reason?, the French Riviera Leg's drive race leaving Jeff & Jackie getting last place for no discernible reason either, and the most important to me, it lacked suspense.I don't know what to feel right now about this season. A. The first fifteen minutes were messy but it got much better after that awkward commercial break post Detour choice TBH.
B. Mind if I ask what you felt the problem was with TAR26's editing? I can understand 27, but 26 was pretty tightly edited, even more so than TAR25.

Many countries are lucky enough to have TAR air in their country (e.g. Singapore, Philippines, Canada ECT) but here in the UK and many other countries their isn't. The only ways for us to watch your shows are to watch them on Youtube quickly before they are deleted due to copyright or other difficult ways. Now we can't even watch the SECRET SCENES! CBS accommodate for your foreign viewers please!!!

I would've rather watched more of than random dog at the park bench Detour looking at the camera than most of the rest of the Leg lol

My main complaint is that I don't feel we're getting to know the contestants as people, it's like we're just watching extensions of their social media personas.

I don't think a team will ever come as close to Michael & Kevin--huge personalities on YouTube but very lowkey/"normal" on the Race.The reason why Michael & Kevin were very well-liked was because they were courteous to the camera throughout their journey. They were never shown acting - emphasized on "acting" - as if they were big shots and trying to put on their online star archetype. Remember how last season nearly everyone complained about how Justin irritated because of the silly things he does (radio personality like Mancow Muller - you either like or hate)? Remember how in season 19 people were :res:'ing whenever Marcus compared the race to football? And don't forget Jim the dentist who scored like a king on his dentistry exam!... blahblah Pretending to be the best when in reality nobody is is not something anyone wants to hear on and on.
I kinda find it a little insulting to racers when they're being labelled as using their "internet persona" as opposed to their "normal" selves.

Personally I don't get why everyone thinks everything is fake these people are just energetic people who have fun. Someone quotes "You can't be a Youtuber/Viner unless you have the will to act like a kid and not care what others think".

I agree with you. If anything, their Pit Stop scene last leg seem to imply that this is their big blowout and things might get better (like Jelani/Jenny suddenly becoming really positive from Peru onwards). If editors didn't want to portray them as changing they would have pulled a Logan & Chris and put "Dana & Matt are at it again!" in the preview. :lol:

Due to the lack of fast forwards, I miss seeing it being challenged.I was thinking about the FF the other day and how we haven't seen it in a long time--but really, it appeared last season! So there's hope.
With Kelsey & Joey and Burnie & Ashley getting so many 2nd places, there's a chance that they'd want 1st and fight for a fast forward. During TAR20, we've seen Joey & Danny being eliminated due to a challenged fast forward, but they challenged it because they got so many 2nd's and 3rd's after their near-elimination on the 1st leg.
I hope TAR brings back the fast forward next season, and I hope they don't just put in 1 fast forward for the whole season. There's enough disappointment for that from TAR27. :tantrum

Two high-wire acts in the same finale seems kind of....uninspired. But I'll confess to some sour grapes; the final leg for the racecourse I had planned on submitting for the Design Challenge had SB as the final city.

Haley was edited more negatively than Laura and Tyler ever were. I wasn't following RFF that season so I didn't realize people thought Haley and Blair would win. I thought it was an obvious Laura and Tyler victory

It annoys me that the season this horrible new cast intro is introduced, they decide to show it in full (almost?) every episode :groan:Right?! I thought they would dump it at least halfway through.

Instead of beautiful shots of our teams, a lot of them are just flat almost still-like images. (Biggest offenders are Darius & Cameron + Tyler & Korey + Dana & Matt + Burnie & Ashley + Marty & Hagan tbh, only Brodie & Kurt + Sheri & Cole had a cool intro shot.)
The GIANT font is atrocious and you barely see the full name of the team because the way it is edited is either circular or above the team member's head (like the name "Tyler" on Tyler & Korey's shot or "Burnie" on Burnie & Ashley's shot and Scott's name on Scott & Blair's shot).
Instead of getting cool shots from the team before their full name pops out and we see them strike a pose, it's just plain, drab shots with their names almost like floating letters brought by the aliens.
Not to mention that the thrill of seeing teams do things before showing a shot of them striking a pose (particularly the amazing mid-season intro which is LACKING this year) is all gone.
Easily the worst intro of the whole show. When even TAR24 did it better, you know you have a problem.
