Maybe F/F was in very far front of these teams? One may only hope! Please bring F/F teams that is strong as Dustin & Kandice, Natalie & Meaghan, Nat & Kat, Kisha & Jen, Brook & Claire, Kym & Alli, Pam & Winnie, Natalie & Nadiya, Carol & Brandy, Valeria & Bodhana, The Godlewskis, Michelle & Jo, Ferna & Fran and Charla & Mirna! :gaah: :(And Sam and renae

To be fair, most of the TARCan 2 teams were incredibly weak compared to Natalie & Meaghan. Same case with TAR20 and Dave & Rachel.Maybe F/F was in very far front of these teams? One may only hope! With 7 leg wins and the same average as Rachel & Dave, Natalie & Meaghan shattered records for F/F teams.
can tarcan just go full international jfc at this route
can tarcan just go full international jfc at this route
As Air Canada is their sponsor, they're kinda limited to flights starting and ending with them. And as evidenced last year when the Hong Kong preview sparked a heated social media reaction from people taking the title "The Amazing Race CANADA" literally, many viewers don't understand the other worldwide iterations and don't want a full international race, if at all.
I kinda expect that same sort of reaction again this year when the Chile leg comes up :P
12 teams :hoot:
7 mf :gaah: well that's one way to guarantee a mf reaches the finale if the finale is not 3 mm
I'm thinking at least 2 MF reach the finals and at least 1 mm reach the finals.

Well, seeing as how Air Canada is a member of the Star Alliance Code Share (I believe one of the founding members), it really shouldn't be a problem. They used code share flights between Santiago and Buenos Aires. It got my hopes up. I think this may be the final year we see this hopping in and out stuff and I almost feel it's being done this way to ween those "Canada-only" believers towards a real Amazing Race circumnavigating the globe.
I dare TAR Canada to visit Washington DC and have the pit stop near the White House (which was burned to the ground during the War of 1812 and the only time Canada and the US fought a war against each other). So they can go there and be like "Oh, we're sorry"

Controversy brings ratings, what can I say? You Americans have a popular reality TV show called 16 and pregnant right?
Everyone is complaining that the only 2 female teams were eliminated so early. Personally, I don't care because:A :funny:
A.) The producers couldn't have known who gets eliminated when. They aren't psychic :funny:
B.) With the success that Natalie & Meaghan had last season (and to some extent Vanessa & Celina in Season 1) they probably figured they didn't need to focus so much on another strong female team
C.) With 7 Coed teams this season, it seems clear that the producers want a Coed win this season, especially since a Coed team hasn't even made the final 3 in TarCan history!
Just my two cents
Well, I'll wait until we see them on TV. Every racer looks bland, dull or steretypical. Don't forget we are quite literally catching them at their worst while racing! Jet and Dave looked horrible. Rex & Bob looked like a complete disaster in Hong Kong! The only team I ever felt really good about from the sightings was Mickey and Pete, and only because of that one shot in Victoria where Mickey was smiling at the person taking the pic.

The first time I saw them in a sighting last year, I could tell Natalie & Meaghan were going to be a strong team - maybe not as strong as they actually turned out to be! - but that they'd be winning a few legs.
I could be wrong, but I'm getting kinda that same feeling about Blue M/M.
I bored with this season already.
Premiere two weeks from tonight! You know what that means? I can set the timer for it tonight! :cheer:

Is that close enough to get an episode title? :)
And speaking of which, producer Mark Lysakowski tweeted just the other day that editing had entered "picture lock". I didn't know what that meant, but apparently it's the stage when the visuals are ready and they move on to the audio mixing.
I don't care how many teams they cast as long as it's strong casting.
I don't care how many teams they cast as long as it's strong casting.I don't care where they're from either. Canadians always seem to nitpick having a representative from every province.... like who gives an eff?
Well, my heart just sank a little with the latest live sighting - a domestic Leg 3 :(
There's still hope it will be like Vietnam All-Stars and bunch international legs together.
well the race isn't finished, don't start complaining yet. lol
why do you assume it going to be all Canadian?
Maybe they're switching it up this season? They don't have to go international within the first 3 legs all the time.well the race isn't finished, don't start complaining yet. lol
why do you assume it going to be all Canadian?
My main complaint is Regina, again. However, if the third leg is domestic it's not a good sign that we will have two international destinations as in seasons 2 and 3. It could still happen, yes.
60 replies here and still no one has discussed a sequel. I'd start the discussion, but I can't begin to guess what in the world a sequel to TAR Canada would be like. I'd be all in favor of one.
:wohoo:

sequel?
sequel?
Sequel is in the thread title. I hadn't noticed it until today. I'm sure they meant squeal. I couldn't resist poking a little fun at it.
Did anyone ever notice it? :funny: :funny:
I think we are 90% certain about HCMC & Cai Be which is :luvya:Why is this not in the Discussion thread. And since we have photo evidence of the leg, seems like 100% to me!
Hopefully there are two legs, one in the rural Mekong Delta the other being in big town Saigon like S15, BUT BETTER :funny:

Not me, I absolutely hated all three (the third were just so gross and awful and the second one was Canadian discount BJ & Tyler and that is not something a team should aspire to be. Tims are better on rewatch though lol.)
Why only 10 teams? It should have been 12. 5 F/F, 5 M/F and 2 M/M or 11 teams 5 F/F, 4 M/F and 2 M/M. I guess they're trying to make sure that an F/F team wins this season.TAR Brazil has had 4 M/M 5 F/F and 2 F/F and 3 out of 4 M/M booted first, TAR Philippines 1 has had 3 M/M, 5 F/F and 3 M/F and 3 F/F teams in F5, in season 2 has had 4 M/M, 4 F/F, 3 M/F
Looks like that TAR Canada is fed up with 3 M/M winners in last 3 seasons. So they're only cast one or two M/M team and cast more F/F teams. It is also the case for TAR Australia, TAR ANZ has had 2 M/M, 3 F/F and 5 M/F, and 2 out of 3 first boot were F/F, I very dissapointed when Inga & Tiharna forgot the ring in the boat and booted first
When I finally found a place to park my bike and walked into the Pit Sop spot, the filming crew had already left like 10 - 15 minutes (I asked the vendor). :gaah: Suck.
Aw, so you didn't see who was last :(
Queen Charlotte Islands :hearts:
After all the Pit Stops BC has gotten, this is the spot that still has potential to make a great leg. It's a lot more rugged up there.
Hamilton. Meh, been there many times and it ain't exactly Excitement City =/
If they had to pick an Ontario city for culture, should have gone to Kitchener, they could have had Bavarian-themed tasks (world's largest Oktoberfest outside of Germany)

Can anyone tell me how many teams/tasks/legs we have left because I'm so confused with all the new info
Air Canada is no longer a sponsor and they still have only 3-4 international Legs?
Certain Canadian Facebook casuals are xenophobic so make of that as you will.
I still remember the comments when TARCAN2 went to Hong Kong/Macau :groan:

I try to stay off the FB page, otherwise my head explodes. There are still some brave individuals who try to explain the "Amazing" part of the program to those all-Canada FB posters, but I gave up after the comments about Normandy & Juno Beach in Season 2. I couldn't believe it. The problem I see is, we are going to run out of leg locales in Canada that are truly show-worthy after about another two seasons.

I would argue that we ARE already running out.
A lot of the legs on TARCAN3 were straight out atrocious.
This is a fantastic cast so far! Better than last year, IMO, there's really no bulky "dude bros" male teams to dominate the race :cheer:
Looks like TAR Canada nailed it with the cast, a pair of single moms, a racer who has sight impairment, an African-Canadian twins team, a stepfather-stepdaughter team, an interracial best friends team and a lesbians team. Very diverse.
I just don't know why the Canadian season just can't be like the American and all other season and travel overseas. I'm sorry Canadains and I've only watched the first season, but I HATED it! Please TARC, consider this and travel overseas on EVERY leg and only start and finish in Canada! :funny:
Majority of Canadians see their homeland as a top vacation destination: poll
By Paola Loriggio The Canadian Press
TORONTO – A new poll finds that while most Canadians have lived or travelled abroad, the majority see their homeland as a top vacation destination.
A survey conducted by Ipsos Reid for Historica Canada says 68 per cent of participants agreed that “Canada has something for everyone, so why go anywhere else.”
Promoting the show is almost non-existent especially dissappointing with this stellar cast.

My wish is for them to finally GTFO of Canada and pull only International legs from now on considering how amazing Vietnam/China/France/Argentina/India/Chile was :)
Re: The ratings. You know why? It's on at the same time as America's Got Talent. But the first two episodes still got #1 for the week barely.AGT- love the current season but I like TARCAN better. :grins:
When you are up against tough competition, you promote your show MORE not LESS. This lack of publicity is mystifying.
I've learned a lot of Canada from watching this show but aren't they going to run out of places sooner or later before they start reusing locations?
I would prefer more international legs since the quality is better than US. (way better now)

I disagree. The American show is MUCH better than the Canadian one!
What I like seeing is how challenging some of the tasks are. Just getting a clue can mean a climb up a zillion steps or a long run...they work them hard for every bit of info.
Makes for a very interesting and challenging race. More difficult than US sometimes.
While the teams that have gone out were likeable, I'm quite pleased with this top 6.
Not only is at least one woman guaranteed to finally win, but the western teams doing so well is a nice change from the latter half of the past seasons always being Ontario-dominated (the California/LA of Canada).
4 of the 6 are western teams, and Steph & Kristen are the only Ontarians left standing.
For the next season, TAR Canada needs to travel for 90% overseas. All these small cities are bottom of these barrel choices. All the awesome places in Canada have been shown. The purpose has ran its course and now need to embrace the rest of the world.

Tell that to some of the casuals  They apparently like it this way, and it shows in the ratings, the domestic episodes typically see slightly higher viewership. Possibly one of last season's weakest legs, Sudbury, was somehow one of their top rated ever.
We'll probably find out in finale week if it even gets renewed, that's when they've always announced it, but who knows. This has kinda felt like a "swan song season" at times with the way CTV has been underpromoting it. Same happened with Australia 3.

McMurray at least was a good one IMO. Being the site of a record-setting natural disaster this time last year.
Why are the producers sooooo obsesses with British-Colombia???
This is the 9th leg in the province, way more than any other...
Like i understand it's good for the Vancouver airport and all but jeez louise....
i have a gut feeling this year won't have any international legs :groan:
why else would they waste pointless money on a logistically flawed route (so far)?
I don't care where they go, I care about the quality of the leg!!
Very peculiar route.
With leg 1 spanning the country like that, the east vs west start/finish pattern is thrown out the window. Maybe the finish line is somewhere "in the middle"???? :funny: :groan:

Stop complaining! :funny: They are in China, there are 30 zillion different things they can do. And they are INTERNATIONAL!! WhooHoo!Sorry Peach, but that's all I do but complain about the legs! And this is a bitching thread...
they should go to Disneyland ShanghaiYES YES YES YES that should go here! I been waiting for this on TAR US for YEARS!
They're probably going home for leg 6 as per usual after 2 legs.
But wonder what the latter intl stop will be :)
the teams in new york city

Don't know that yet, but obviously it'd have to happen for an international leg at some point :)

Just can't see it this year of all years. Can you imagine the rampage on SM?
Yeah it is Isreal not Canada...
Oh well, a New York leg would be fantasic!
So seems the stop is around Gros Morne on the western side of the island, that's actually a great choice for a return to NL!
The scenery speaks for itself. Fjords. This is where they unearthed the only proven Viking settlement in North America.

seem like they run out cites to gohave they every been to Montreal
S2 E9
S4 E11
Yeah, I'm looking at UK, too.
It's still a possibility the weather could be wreaking havoc on planned domestic legs in Eastern Canada. Heard on the radio today how parts of Quebec and northern Nova Scotia are expecting MORE heavy rain.
It's almost as if the TarGods could be saying "Get out of the country!!"
Not another China leg!
Stop complaining! :funny: They are in China, there are 30 zillion different things they can do. And they are INTERNATIONAL!! WhooHoo!
Why didn't they just go to Corner Brooke and Gros Morne at the start of the race? This route is so infuriating!!! :groan:

So Beautiful. This leg's scenery is going to be unreal.
So that's the international this year...ehh
I said my piece on China, and for a second consecutive year, the latter int'l outing is to a small Spanish North American country. One we'd just seen on US.
This is the WEIRDEST route ever...TAR Can: The zigzag season :funny:

Yeah, no idea where to expect the finish line to be  I've been mapping it out as I did the previous couple of years.
The past seasons went in a general west or east direction, but this route is criss-crossing like a cat's cradle.
LOL this season's going to suck. Unless the cast carries it.

I'm not feeling the cast tbh. I trust casting did their best to give us the best 10 teams they could find (or not). We'll see.
1,2 and 4 were some of the best casts in the history of the show.
Hopefully the cast is good to save it, the route is really odd. If they really wanted to celebrate Canada's 150 years, they should have visited areas that have roots, histories, iconic areas that helped shaped Canada and overseas countries that have a strong relationship and deep history with Canada.
Not feeling this route.Show contentA record number of reused cities, and for a season supposed to celebrate Canada (more than it already dNot feeling this route. A record number of reused cities, and for a season supposed to celebrate Canada (more than it already did), they covered less of it than ever, no north or maritimes at all. Only a couple domestic legs really appealed to me
Fort McMurray, there was a sighting of a helicoptet landing, which I bet means one of the route markers was flying them over to see the extent of the wildfire damage.
Western Newfoundland, because I've wanted them to get to Labrador, the fjord-laced landscape of Gros Morne is close enough. Plus, vikings are always cool.
Possibly Saskatchewan...IF they went where I suspect they went when they vanished in the south country.
.
Decent tasks and good cast can help a season, and we'll know better after the mid-June bio releases, but on the outside they look like another S3-style (their blandest) cast. And got a feeling this year production will have them regurgitating their patriotism on camera throughout the race.
If the show stopped winning those CSA's, maybe that would make Brunton/Lysakowski/Bickerton sit back and finally say, "We're losing them, we need to shake it up. Maybe it's time to try the world thing more".
Canada always delivers with a good cast so I'm not worried about that, I have faith in this version's quality
The problem I think with 3's cast was they had too many alpha personalities, the kind of people who often don't make entertaining TV, they take everything seriously (TAR20's cast suffered from this problem, too).
It was probably the biggest budget season, too. Largest cast, and gave the best Pit Stop prizes.

The other problem was the lack of diversity with the teams.
2 Brother Teams
2 Father-Daughter Teams
2 Co-worker Teams (Both FF too :funny:)
2 Dating Teams
The other 4 were Teammates, Exes, Married and Engaged. We had all the types of couples (exes, married, dating and engaged).
Too many MF teams too.
Season 3 would be far better if both two F/F teams weren't booted quite soon, we would see many drama in Face-Off tasks and W-turn boards
When the fifth season was announced last fall, Mike Cosentino, SVP, content and programming, Bell Media, told MiC that the network would be chasing a millennial audience “more heavily than ever” with the upcoming episodes. That was started with the casting of the new season, looking at the social media footprint of potential racers to bringing on more competitors who would resonate across younger audiences.

Well, now knowing where leg 9 is, I'd post how I'm feeling about the remaining portion of the route at the moment. But profanity-laced rants to production are probably against forum rules, so I'll spare it ;)
If they want to have races mostly in Canada, then they should go to places they haven't been before. Nunavut, Manitoba, PEI have only been visited once so they should get revisited.
And don't even get me started on how bland the Panama leg was.
And don't even get me started on how bland the Panama leg was.
Pardon? That was as legendary as the S19 penultimate episode and superior to the overrated Strangers' Edition premiere, easily the best Latin American leg in TARCAN history.
Agreed but in the Cuba leg the only thing good for me was the double battle aka the beach vollyball task and the roadblock was pointless there nothing really special and doesn't show to tradtions in Cuba and the other good thing is seeing Amy beat was it rita in the roadblock(I really hate rita and yevette)And don't even get me started on how bland the Panama leg was.

Cuba* sorry I got confused. I didn't like the Panama leg either, but the roadblock and the equalizer task at the end kinda saved it for me.
Don't @ me for Cuba, most pointless leg ever.
Hopefully they go international next.

I wonder if this pie-eating task is a pseudo-Switchback to S14 in Austria/Bavaria.
11, and how come? There's no gross ingredient. It was snake or rabbit inside it I think that what Phil said when he did the gross tar food in clever
Given the theme, I wonder if the number of Face-Offs will go up to three or more.
I really hope we go international for half the race. I mean they are really running out of steam for the Canadian legs (see: season 5) and all the tasks are so subpar. I'm fine with all Canada too, all I ask is for interesting tasks.I don't get it too but in shanghai there is so much to do you could have a chinese food contest or whatsort even though i only stayed in shanghai for 1 day honstley the best china legs are all in the us version (i am also counting HK and Macau) Like Tar 14, Tar 17 (HK), Tar 18, Tar 21,Tar 27 (HK),Tar 30
And I hope they actually have culturally relevant and interesting international legs. I still don't understand why they flew them all the way from Beijing to Shanghai just for Tock's deli?

But they aren't smashing pies into each other's faces, and I doubt they would just make them sit there and eat pies, so there's gotta be like a gag-worthy element.
But it can be sorta like the Bavarian task as in teams keep eating pies till they find a cherry pie.

Product placement challenge for an educated guess.
TAR Canada visits the capital city of Indonesia, something that TAR US couldn't do, even after 5x visits and 9 legs :D i can't wait to watch how racers handle the heat and of course the Traffic in Jakarta LOL
3 FF teams potentially made the final 7. :conf:
Rare live sighting of a team that showed up after all the teams showed up hours in advance. :conf:
Dylan/Kwame getting knocked out just before the finale would be ideal; I don't think that any all-male team since the first season has ever come close to matching Jet/Dave.Yes I agree, they are probably just gonna win the finals if they are in it
People acting like the BMS thread has to be as accurate as the other ones. :cmas29

3 FF Teams that made the Final 7 :cheer: Hoping that the the Cheerleaders make the Finals along with a M/F Team.
Well, cheerleaders met their fate.
Predicted 2nd for them. :groan:

Now one or two of them and the Asian-Canadian co-ed couple are the next boots...
Get the CFL guys out!
Yea, they're in the Final 5 with Mellisa/Nancy, the Asian-Canadian couple, and two other M/F teams.

Nope.... they are soccer trainers/teachers, they are not CLF players

CFL??
This may be in the totally wrong thread so I’ll apologize now.
As the teams get eliminated do their camera/sound team go home too or do they get to hang out with the other crew and Jon? Do they stay with the same team or move around?
Thanks :)
Courtney/Adam are my least fave of the three M/Fs in the F4 just because of the BBCAN4 connection (how dare they skip the two best seasons from which to stunt-cast!); then again, if she pulls a Jillian, then I might reconsider.Mine is Todd and Anna ugh
Every team using their Express Pass only to have an equalizer after anyway at the ferry was hilarious! :funny:And the funny thing is all three of them didn't win the leg in the end
Completely wasted not even a full Leg after they first won them.
I'm sure at least one team is going to regret using it in the next two legs. :groan:
Down to two international legs...quality over quantity.

I can't agree with this sentiment given the illogical routes produced in the 3 of the past 4 seasons.
For those who follow spoilers, it's mostly not surprising, but ain't it anti-climatic CTV official TAR Canada channels, pretty much revealing if a leg is a elimination leg, before it airs? Just saw a post in their Insta stories....
I love how all the female teams are still standing (and at the top). They cast some strong ones this year :D Every Can season before has lost at least one by leg 4, which was kinda my prediction for Zainab & Monica.

Are you including Heroes' Edition with 3 and 5? If so, then I concur.
Only 1 Indonesian leg! Are they serious.... They flew halfway across the world to only visit Jakarta and then fly back to Canada :groan: :furious:
They could have at least visited Bali, Yogyakarta, Lombok for another leg or maybe Singapore. I mean you're already there in the region.
I would have loved the Jakarta-Bali combo.

That article about the difficulties of this leg...yeah right. So with ALL that why NOT do a second leg? Makes no sense.
Based on timing, it seems as though there should have been one.
So choices would be
-- no planned second leg
--planned second leg that had to be scrapped pre filming
--second leg scrapped during or immediately after filming and all placement changes trashed
Based on timing there was room to spare right?

Correct.
But I also think seasons 2 & 4 are miles above 3, 5 and 6 so far in terms of quality IMO.
