Hey. Just thinking of starting this thread in the unlikely event we get somthing about season 4.
Recently 7 had their upfrounts as their statement on TARAu (and a few other shows) was as follows.Seven's director of production, Brad Lyons, said shows such as Bringing Sexy Back, The Amazing Race and The Big Adventure - which have either rated poorly or attracted audiences "too old" for advertisers - are "still on our slate", but did not confirm their renewal.
"We don't have to make calls on them now," Lyons said.

It might be me being optimistic but if Glamping Survivor (Big Adventure) fails (which to put it in perspective, it's doing TARAu3 ratings in the much better 6:30 Sunday & 7:30 Monday timeslots Agaist repeats of Big Bang Theory and its hardily gaining on time shift, unlike TARAu which was 1st or 2nd gainer for the night) then there may be a chance for TARAu.
Again, it might be a long shot but let's at least have a little optimism.
-
I always have a lot of optimism. :) :yess: :)
-
I always have a lot of optimism. :) :yess: :)
:conf: :hearts: :conf: :hearts:
-
Ooh this HAS to be renewed.
-
Well BA ratings have gone down again. That is a good sign for TARAU.
:conf: :conf: :conf:
-
Last night TBA hit under 600,000 viewers (from TV Tonight (http://www.tvtonight.com.au/2014/11/soft-start-for-the-week-but-60-minutes-beats-the-big-adventure.html)). For a new show in a prime timeslot, that's terrible. TARAus was doing better than that in a later timeslot and as a show returning after a year hiatus.
If only TARAus was given this timeslot now, the ratings could have been much better :(
-
I agree.... if the Big Adventure fails then it's good news for TARAUS!!! :conf: :conf:
-
Definitely hope we'll see a season 4!
-
The Big Dudventure is failing. Monday show for TBA are axed and Sunday shows have moved to 8:30pm with 7's ulitimate filler program (Highway Patrol/other police shows that are all the same) taking over the 7:30 hour on both nights.
My guess is that 7 want to compare how TBA and TARAu will do in similar timeslots to see who gets renewed and who gets the axe. Let's be hopeful that the numbers fall in our favor. :) :hearts: :yess:

-
Loving it. :hearts:
-
I hope we get a Season 4 too. I think Season 3 only did poorly because they waited so long between Seasons 2 and 3 to do it. I think interest is there for them to continue it.
Also less of the Aus vs NZ thing, it felt far too forced, the drama and competitiveness. Just call it Amazing Race Australia New Zealand Edition or something.
-
Just add and instead of versus, have like 3 teams of Aussie and Kiwi combined,
three of Aussie, three of Kiwi.
-
AMAZING RACE OCEANIA
-
TBH the Kiwis can go away and do their own one if they really want it! :sab :box: Season 4 with 11 Australian teams plz, srynotsry. :grins:
-

We'd love our own one but it's up to TVNZ to decide if they want to do one
-
Change TAR Australia to TAR Australasia or TAR Oceania, that way New Zealand citizens can involved the race.
-
The Australian one should stay Australian-only for mine, otherwise it's gonna be rather difficult to get on the cast when I can finally apply! :grins:
Would love to see a separate NZ race though, for sure.

One of my main hopes from NZ vs Aus was that the ratings would of been enough to convince TVNZ that there is interest in watching our own version of TAR.
-
NVM dammit
-
Still any news about a 4th season? No signups or anything?
-
Nadda.
-
Still nothing confirmed but the recent ratings failular of 7's Restaurant Revolution can only be good news for TARAu possiblily returning for 2015. :conf: :conf:
Thursday's airing of RR only achieved 415,000. 415,000 is terrible considering that this was hyped up for months in advanced, and aired in the prime time 7:30 timeslot.
For comparison, TARAUvsNZ stayed around low-mid 600,00 in a 9:00 slot (and aired often upto 15+ minutes later due to The X Factor draging on their Monday elimination show :barf) plus a solid 100k in timeshift rattings and nd compared to RR, TARAu was hardly promoted by 7.
This situation of RR is very reminiscent of (if not worse then) 7's 2013 run of The Mole which ultimately lead to TARAu returning in 2014. So there is precedent for TARAu returning from another shows failular.
PS: Sorry for being desperate and hanging on to whatever little hope we have. As I said in the first post of this thread, let's be optimistic. :cheer: :cheer:
-
I too am holding onto hope, but I don't know. Season 3 saw only like half the audience of seasons 1 and 2, it was pretty bad (ratings work a little differently in Australia, they only count how many people watched in the 5 big cities, not the whole country).
-
I ran across an interesting tweet from yesterday. I don't think it's really TAR Australia filming, but I thought I'd pass it along for thoughts and comments. I certainly don't see any sign of teams. It looks more like a travel show.

Def not TARaus...will ask around!

-
Good catch. Strange that it would get reposted now. I guess you can remove it since it's old news about TAR France not TAR Australia.
-
I'll move it over. Still don't understand the AUS TV part, the company does events...
-
I just finished watching TAR Aus vs NZ, and I must say that I like the concept of having 2 nations, but it didn't turn out quite well in some parts due to irrational rivalry. :umn:
Anyway, TAR Aus 2 was great :hearts: and TAR Aus 3 was good enough! :yess: I would want a 4th season of this with all-Australians or contestants from different parts of Australia & Oceania. :) The editing was way better here than in recent TAR US versions.
-
Is Tar Australia finished?
-
Is Tar Australia finished?
7 have not announced any TAR for 2015 or 2016. I think the odds of 7 bringing back TARAu for 2017 is slim. :( :'( :'(
At least us Aussies have Australian Survivor to look forward to. :trampb:
-
Hopefully it makes a return like Tar Asia!
-
Hopefully it makes a return like Tar Asia!
But hopefully it doesn't follow its footsteps by stopping at the 4th season.
I believe in this franchise! :jam:
-
I too wonder if TAR Asia's revival after 6 years is a sign that there's hope for TAR Australia. But then again, the difference is Asia 4 went out on a high note in the ratings, whereas Australia 3 tanked :(
But if there is, maybe a new host. By season 3 you could kinda tell Grant was phoning it in, he barely acknowledged the race on his Twitter, even during airing.
-
Please everyone stop posting in this thread, everytime I see a new post I get a small glimmer of hope that TARAUS is alive again (j/k)   </3
-
I SERIOUSLY think that TAR Australia will be back in 2017!
However, Grant shouldn't host it! I think it will be someone like Daryl Somers!
Bring back TAR Australia! :hearts:
-
I just wonder if TARA4 will be back in 2017. I really do think it will. However, I don't think Grant Bowler would back to host. I hope maybe it's Daryl Somers or someone. I just been googling around and I just have that feeling that 3 years off, is just enough time to work on it and make it better. I really just hope Channel 7 will renew the series because I'm DYING to see another season!
Can we please not post here because everyone gets exited </3
-
Well, where else are we supposed to post it? ???
-
Well, where else r we supposed to post it (:;)
Exactly here!
This is for rumors and announcements. If you don't want to read it, don't click on it!
-
Every time I check this thread, I thought there's gonna be TAR Aus 4 soon, but it's usually just someone who stumbles into the thread for the 1st time. :funny: I think other people also felt this way when I first posted something here. :lol3:
-
We live in hope!!
Just lower your expectations.... :pity
-
LOL. I think this is probably bogus but gonna put it here for completeness sake anyway
https://www.hit.com.au/scoopla/tv/matty-j-may-be-hosting-a-new-season-of-the-amazing-race
-
TAR Aus hasn't been off the air for eight years! It's been four!
But hey, at least there's a glimmer of hope! Ten has freed up A LOT of money, after losing the Big Bash to Channel Seven earlier this year AND being brought by CBS...
I really don't want him to host. He bores me very much, even more than Grant used to!
:cheer: :conf: :woohoo:
'Coming days'. That article was posted on Thursday. Coming days could mean this upcoming week!
-
Right, now ANOTHER radio station has just reported on this!
https://www.wavefm.com.au/news/620-on-air/on-air/celebrity-buzz/130558-the-amazing-race-australia-could-return-in-2019
This is getting serious now...
-
I think there is good evidence they are trying to make this work.
Have no idea about the host rumours, but I do think there is a reasonable chance for this to happen. ;)
-
Nice!
Not familiar with this other guy, but I honestly wouldn't mind a replacement for Grant. As I've said in the past, his hosting personality is drier than an unseasoned turkey.
-

I didn't mind Grant's hosting style, but the reason why TAR Australia 3 (Australia vs. New Zealand) was delayed because Grant wanted to focus on his acting career. That's why they need a new host. Grant also hosted the Australian version of The Mole.
-
Yeah, I really don't think Grant will return to host Season 4!
That's good, IMO. He is so boring.
Matty J is also known as Matty Johnson. He was the bachelor on Season 4 of The Bachelor Australia! He now works on a radio station in Sydney? I think.
I also hope it's not him. I hoping it will be someone like Andrew O'Keefe, or Ryan Fitzgerald!
-
WOW! This would be amazing!
I would still like Grant to host though. There's just something about having the same host throughout the run. Even the new TAR China decided to go back to Allan Wu hehe
And Grant doesn't have a regular series right now though unlike before around TARAu3, he was just starting Syfy's Defiance I think.
-
Grant in Season 3 was kinda like "I don't want to be here, I just want to get paid." He did at least have that one great moment in Namibia of doing a task intro holding up a wild cat :D
-

Exactly I think he was a bit annoyed anD just seems like he just wants to get paid
-
Well, at the time, he had a big series in Defiance. Now that Defiance is over, a TARAu paycheck probably sounds pretty sweet.
-
So if I understand this correctly, TARAU 4 mays happen, but at another chanel and with other production team?
-
So if I understand this correctly, TARAU 4 mays happen, but at another chanel and with other production team?
If TAR Aus 4 does come back, it will most likely be shown in Channel Ten (owned by CBS). I'm not sure if they'll change the production team, but there is most likely to be a new host ! (Matty Johnson, from The Bachalor Australia 4)
-
to everyone that's complaining about grant, while i 100% agree, you all know matty j's worse, right?
-
Well, Active TV doesn't have the rights to any TAR franchise anymore (AXN took over for TARA5, TARPH is dead). Though I think they still help TAR Israel? And 7 took over with in-house production for TARAu3. So unless they enlist Active TV again, and since this would be on Ten, this might be a brand new team?
-
Even if the show moves to Channel Ten, the network has proven their success with AU Survivor. I really hope this happens.
-
There's still been no announcements...
That first article was posted a week ago today. They might wanna hurry up and announce what happening!
-
So if I understand this correctly, TARAU 4 mays happen, but at another chanel and with other production team?
Yes. The wheels are in motion. Whether they actually hit a freeway is another thing.
-
I believe that this is a fake.
That article was posted on June 28.
It is now August 1.
'The coming days' does not refer to almost 6 weeks.
Sorry everyone, but I think we got our hopes up too high! :( :'(
-
Evidence Bourkie?
I disagree with you.
-
I am hearing that Matty J HAS been signed on as HOST for the next TARaus.
So if there is a signed host...can applications be far behind?
:2hearts: :)x :2hearts:
-
So this IS happening now?
*fades into a black hole, while others laugh and throw stuff*
-

:2hearts: :)x :2hearts:
This makes me me hopeful. And it wouldn't be the first TAR international off-shoot to change hosts. As I don't know who that is, if he's more expressive than Grant, I'd call that a likely plus.
-
You haven't heard anything more Peach?
Absolutely NOTHING that I can find on the Internet and it's also been 2 months since that article was posted...
-
Just wait.
-
I wonder if Channel 10 aknowledge previous australian seasons or not like it did with Survivor. I am afraid we can see some of the already visited places visited again (Hong Kong, Dubai, Ho Chi Mon City comes to my mind...).

Seriously?
You pay up to $10 MILLION dollars, for a once in a year event? :groan:
Yes, you lost the Big Bash League cricket tournament for $1 billion dollars, but you don't WASTE IT on a horse race! :groan:
This could have a MASSIVE impact on TAR Aus...
https://tvtonight.com.au/2018/08/ten-nabs-melbourne-cup-from-2019.html
-
I see NO correlation to this news and TARaus? ???
-
I see NO correlation to this news and TARaus? ???
Due to them WASTING up to $10 million a year, other shows suffer. Cuts on budget need to be made elsewhere!
If they decide to 'cut the budget' on TAR Aus, legs numbers go DOWN, product placement tasks GOES UP, numbers of teams go DOWN and maybe it will be a DOMESTIC race, instead of INTERNATIONAL...
Pure spec, of course. Nothing I have said here, is confirmed. :)
-
Wait and see. I think there may be a whole new future in store.

Is season 4 happening or not? They did announce nothing so far...

Ten's Upfronts for 2019, takes place on Halloween (October 31, Australian Eastern Standard Time)
THAT it's when (most likely) we will know if TAR Australia 4, is happening in 2019! :conf: :cheer: :woohoo:
-
Tomorrow, we will find out the future of TAR Australia 4, at Ten 2019 Upfronts! :conf: :cheer: :woohoo:
Hopefully, it's a very Happy Halloween indeed! :snicker:
-
There was NO mention of TAR Australia Season 4, at Ten's Upfronts for 2019!
We got our hopes up, once again! :( :'(
-
Uh, wouldn't it need to start filming first...?
-
YES.
-
Well, they wouldn't need to have started filming yet to be able to announce that they've picked up/ordered a 4th season of TARAu.
-
Is this happening or not? Any new info?
-
Is this happening or not? Any new info?
I'd imagine if/when there is, our resident Aussie fan, Bourkie, would be quick to share. Lol.
-
Trust me, you guys will know if TAR Australia is coming back! :snicker:
Since there was no mention of TAR Australia at Ten's Upfronts on October 31, there is a very slim chance that TAR Australia will be back in 2019...
-
No Confirmation...
BUT AUS AND NZ RESIDENTS CAN APPLY!!

Eureka Productions (who seem to running this 'Adventure Travel Reality Series') has two offices, located in Los Angeles and Sydney!
Eureka Productions have produced shows such as The Single Wife's, Australian Spartan (which appear on Channel 7 and where the first AusTAR aired on!)
Check out their website!

Very interesting!
-
Has TARAUS ever filmed in those dates?
TARAU 1 & 2 filmed late in their respective years, TARAU/NZ filmed in March of that year. So no.

10...will also be investing heavily to ensure The Amazing Race looks just as good as the US version.

They have done a great job at adapting other shows in Australia.
Need to look a new live stream option, so we can hopefully follow the episodes live. The site we were using for AusSurvivor last year is not active anymore.

Welcome back, The Amazing Race Australia :2hearts:
-
Look, I’m excited for a new season of TARAu - I started this thread 4 years ago with the hope that we could be optimistic for a new season to eventually come out - I’m over the moon that it looks like it’s happening :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: (especially as I can now apply)
However, I have seen a lot of people make the assumption that this new version will be exactly like the old series. That likely not the case as this new version, will have little to no affiliation to the OG series (like old Aus Survivor & new Aus Survivor)
I hope it hits the high highs of TARAu2 but for all intents & purposes, this will be a different production. So don’t expect TARAu2 quality based solely on the name affiliation alone.
That being said, I would expect at least a decent show based on the fact that it’s on 10 - between the 3 networks down here, they tend to produce the better-produced shows (their version Aus Survivor being the main example)
-
OMg yas gawd looking forward to a glam season <3
-

I'm blanking...what's OG?

Do we know when filming is supposed to happen?

For 5 weeks sometime between 1 August to 30 September.

Would this be the first time a TAR franchise undergoes a possible makeover?
TAR Asia and TARAu both shifted from ActiveTV to in-house production (AXN and 7 respectively), but both retained their hosts and basically remained the same.
China Rush and TAR China can be considered two different franchises, but even then, Allan hosting both gives them a sense of continuity.
HaMerotz got a new host, but everything else remained the same as well?

Probably the closest a franchise underwent a complete makeover was TAR Latin America since it moved channels and the later seasons were pretty different from the first two seasons. Season 2 of HaMerotz was pretty different from season 1 with a greater focus on ridiculous tasks.
-
Woohoo! :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer:
I think we may have a new host. Matty J was rumoured to be the new host this time last year, but nothing happened. I wouldn't mind Grant again, but I think Matty would be more animated.

Confirmed series prize of $250,000!
Quite disappointing it is the same amount of money, however it's the locations/tasks/contestants that make the season!
-
Rereading the casting announcement, the thing that excites me is the part about "travel around the world".
Considering the new network, wouldn't be surprised by a new host. Didn't that happen to Australian Survivor? As I understand, the "crew" change also happened to Dancing with the Stars: Australia, which also moved to Ten.
This is a reach, as nothing was filmed yet. But having helped posting live stream links last year for Australian Survivor, it surprised me how many episodes were 90 minutes long (including ads), some even slightly longer. And multiple airings a week. Wonder if the new iteration of TAR: Australia might also get a few 90 minutes long episodes. That would be interesting.

I believe the old iteration had 90 minute episodes but they had more challenges, so the pacing was still close to the US show.

Please not bring Face-off (Head to head) to TAR ANZ

Israel 1 looks more orthodox than later seasons, with detour & roadblock and several ARI task in each leg, this season also featured fast forward, normal yield & U-turn
-
Never thought the day would come for TARAu to return!!! Ahh i'm sooo excited and especially that it's on Ten after their fantastic adaptation of Survivor.
In terms of host, I think it won't be Grant, but instead Matty J. Over the last month, he's been travelling all around the world filming a TV show - so I think it fits if he was possibly filming stand ups? Just a guess? Plus he is a Ten personality. From memory, I think he was in Malaysia, Hong Kong, Barcelona, London and Tasmania. Is there precedent of hosts preparing and filming stand ups before actual race time?

I mean they are not even trying to sell it as TAR and going with "adventure travel tv series" instead... Why is there no more promotion for this? I am aware about like 2 internet articles about this... Many people who would like to apply probably don't even know there is a casting.
-
Is there a reason they're being discreet about what the application is for? Why not just say it's for The Amazing Race?
-
Oh my! A new season of TAR Australia :luvya: :cheer:
-
Mangoez is right, that article already named it as The Amazing Race.
TAR's pretty a big deal in Australia, so their applications would probably spike if they just came out and said what show it was. Not a word on the social media pages, their last posts are still from when Season 3 ended.
-
It's very interesting.
I remember both TARPH and TARA really did good things to hype up their surprise returns (s2 for TARPH, s5 for TARA) before even beginning to accept applications. Like, "Get ready!" promos on the shows' accounts and on the TV5 and AXN social media accounts. Then of course continuing to promo during the open applications/audition period.
So with that "Adventure Travel Competition" casting call, has it even been shared anywhere else outside of even here on RFF? Or announced anywhere else other than the tvblackbox blog?
Especially since Ten hasn't made an official announcement yet either, most Australians and Kiwis probably don't even know this "Adventure Travel Competition" exists, let alone it being TAR.
Are they hoping to fully produce the season before announcing it? Or seeing what kind of cast they might get before officially greenlighting it? Very strange! :duno:
-
Its being advertised pretty thoroughly in AUS.
-
It's being advertised pretty thoroughly that The Amazing Race Australia is coming back and are accepting applications?

"advertised" was a poor word choice. Discussed would have been better. The APP is being widely discussed.
No. Only on social media discussions. No official confirmation for now,

TARAU confirmed by 10, ex-NRL Player Beau Ryan to host
https://tvtonight.com.au/2019/06/beau-ryan-to-host-amazing-race-australia-revival.html
-
I have no idea who that is, but I think he'll be a welcome change of host.
You could sense the vibe through Season 3 that Grant was getting tired of this job.
-
Interesting, another former Pro-Athlete, like we have with Jon over the Canada side.
-
Beau Ryan sure wouldn't be my pick of a host, I think he's going to struggle to come off as serious enough for it considering he's widely known for being a larrikin.
-
Another article confirming: https://tvblackbox.com.au/page/2019/6/28/10-finally-confirms-the-amazing-race-australia-scoop-with-beau-ryan-as-host
-
Interesting choice of host!
I don't mind Beau, but he does have a bit of controversy behind him, but that shouldn't really affect viewers ratings!
And we are offically confirmed as being back! :conf:
-
If they keep up the production values and toughness and don't mess around with the schedule as they did before it will hopefully keep popular.
-
Apparently that's just the way Australian TV is, I've heard. Shows tend to start whenever.
Hoping it does well on the new network. Season 3 was good, but the ratings took a nosedive as the season went on.

Welcome home! <333333

Casting is done.
-
How do you know, tar fan?
I really hope there will be more "normal" teams than gimmick and celebrity ones at least.
And they better not stop tradition of casting overweight team(s) in this franchise, lol.
-
There's rumours circling around on Facebook that participants on this season have been contacted, however, we will wait for Peach to confirm this information!
-
Unconfirmed -- but agree that casting MAY be done...or nearly so. Last minute changes are ALWAYS possible.

TARAU4??? :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer:

Is filming still supposed to happen in August? 1st or 2nd half of month, do we know?
-
When should we start searching for sightings? :)
-
I'm going 3 weeks in Australia from August 9 to 31! Hope I can see them, if it's not too early
-
When should we start searching for sightings? :)
Filming is scheduled to take place, anytime between today (August 1) and September 30!
Patience is key... : :0328:
-
We're not supposed to post the dates of starting lines before they actually went on, Peach told us.
-
Thanks everyone!
Reminder: For the safety of our TAR crew and racers...we choose to never publicly reveal in advance the location of WHERE teams will be WHEN.
This was a WHEN alone....but just in case the WHERE appears also we're going to pull this for now.
So...those of you saw this...please do NOT repost elsewhere. Keeping our beloved TAR safe is paramount.
We'll let you know when it is about to start.

AFL.com.au understands Wilkinson and Roos, former Southport teammates in the NEAFL, will fly to a secret location on Thursday to start filming for the reality TV show
Hang on. Last night, this article last night said they flew out Monday (as Maanca posted), but now the article has changed to Thursday... Weird...
-
Looks like Beau is leaving tomorrow, so I'd say the article change looks right.
One would think the empty bottle, bags and shoes means Kathmandu & Merrell will be sponsors?

He still had the tags on the backpack. I'm not even sure if he had packed anything at that point! The question now is if he is flying to the starting point?
-
Remember we also have this: Two weeks was 8/20
I'd say squester is more likely...
-
I know I'm bad on not adding myself to that thread. But should we ask people to update the "Where In The World Are YOU??" thread?

Yes! The current list is way out of date... et me see how I can revise it...

Did race start already? Should we start looking for sightings now?

Moving all this to prerace speculation.
NONE of the links are working. Especially for IG stories you MUST take a screenshot and copy/paste all text.
Its coming soon...so stay alert! : :conf:

So-so excited for this long await project event. I really miss original TAR.

Beau has now deleted yesterday’s post from Instagram! Wonder if Production told him off?

Did race start already? Should we start looking for sightings now?
Isn't it already the 21st in every Aussie time-zone?

Yeah. Australia is a half-day ahead of US and Canada. It has three (to four) time zones depending on location.

SO...info thanks to Oval.
We are now thinking the sequester racer date info was incorrect. Given Beau's posts and the start line history...perhaps we were hasty. Hopeful for a race start next 48 hours, Friday most likely. SO...if you live in a possible start city location, you can help by checking all likely venues for unexpected closures. DO drive by's today. There may be unusual activity..set ups, vans, signs, parking restrictions. Check your areas for road closures. If you can be in an airport Friday or Sat...do it! In all cases...NO interference, be respectful. Live spoilers ONLY go here:

I live in a possible start location but now that there’s potentially a sighting in Vietnam, does this change our views on whether we should be looking out for an Aus start today or this weekend?

Yeah. We should be looking in the "Asia" continent. I think they left the start already.

The picture of the guy on Facebook was taken at the Hanoi Cathedral but I couldn't find any sightings there on Instagram.

Same. We may have been a little late. It's St.Joseph's Cathederal FYI.

Holy cow, that's a quick turnaround. :cheer:
-
Canada goes from filming to air in 2 months, and since this is like half that, I just hope the editing doesn't turn out crappy and rushed.
This is their big comeback season, so it has to be good :D
-
The Australian survivor editing has been shocking this past season. I expect this may have the same fate 😞
-
TARA5 and TARPH2 had quick 1-2 month turnarounds too.
