Almost the beginning of the new year which means: Time for a new series of 'Wie is de Mol?' :cmas23
The 14th series will be taking place in Hong Kong. Though it's not yet been officially confirmed, some footage in the trailer of the new series suggests there will be a second destination later on in the series, i.e. the Philippines - it appears to have be taken at a place called Vigan. :cmas27

This year a few new game elements will be introduced. One of them can be seen in the trailer, a socalled 'Black exemption' ('Zwarte Vrijstelling', the black disk). According to one of the tv guides it means that the person holding it can neutralize/nullify jokers which other contestants have. It's not exactly sure yet how this will work but apparently it will be explained in episode 1. Should make for an interesting new game element in terms of strategy and advantages. :)

Additional remark about the episode title:
The verb ' schijnen' means 'to shine' or 'to seem', the latter obviously being of crucial importance in the Mole. :)
So there may be a hint involving 'to shine' / lights and spotlights in this series as it's also in the trailer ('the Mole doesn't like being in the spotlight'). ;)
So ' schijnbeweging' means, ' a seeming movement' (like feint), or 'a shining movement'..

No it doesn't work that way.
We definitely had seasons with 2+ of the same gender in a row.. ;)
Production has been very clear about this -- even if it's been e.g. 3 times the same gender there is no guarantee the 4th is of the opposite sex. They look at the contestants they have selected and choose their Mole from them, i.e. the one they think is most suitable, regardless of their gender. :)

Glad this season was filmed in China. :)
The first challenge is difficult...
And actually, most local people speak Cantonese rather than Mandarin, but contestants have to speak Mandarin.
I almost understand no word local people say in "Chinese"... :(

My prime suspect is still Freek, but I feel Susan has become very suspicious on these few past episodes. Not because I actually caught her sabotages, but because Sofie & Tygo, whom I see as strategic players thus more likely to make it far, have her as their main suspects. It's also interesting she sent her envelope to Freek, yet her suspects doing the test are Tygo & Sofie.

The hiatus definitely sucks. But they did it 4 years ago too, so I had mentally prepared myself for it. Sort of. I guess. :lala
I was sad to see the executee go too and I completely agree with your suspects and assessment.
(I might add though that our lead suspect is one of the least suspected people in polls throughout the Netherlands - but that usually isn't necessarily a bad sign :funny:).
It's hard to tell what will happen next especially since it seems there will be at least two more exemptions up for grabs in the next couple of episodes.. :) It will be interesting to see how it plays out.
But the envelope thing was definitely fishy, something doesn't seem right there.. (could be 'creative' editing too though, with respect to the current suspects. ;) )

. I have taken hints from past seasons of the show and tried to look for the subtle hints throughout that led to the Mole's identity. Right off the bat, in the first episode I spotted something that lead me to my Mole and it hasn't faltered yet. Still have episode 7 to watch.

My thoughts on every contestant:
My main suspect is still Freek because he's been consistently sabotaging since ep 1.
In distant second is Susan because I find her becoming more suspicious as the season goes on.
Jan-Willem was actually my main suspect for ep 1-2, but since then he didn't seem to do much sabotaging so I don't suspect him anymore.
Sofie & Tygo, I feel they're both genuine contestants.
It's interesting that Art told us, the viewers, every contestant's current suspects. I feel his mentioning 'Freek & JW are in blind spots' somehow related to this episode's title, which could be a hidden clue.

In episode one during the starting where they introduce the Mole contestants, one of the screen shows a timer that read 1:15.00. I went back to the one minute and fifteen second mark of that episode and the Filipino mailman was delivering a letter that was addressed to Susan. It is definitely just shot in the dark but, so far, (I haven't watch episode 7 yet) it's been a good shot.

Anyway, if Sophie is not the mole, Freeks sucks. When Art said Susan is not the winner, Sophie is not the runner up and Freeks is not the Mole. Both Susan and Sophie know who is the winner but Freeks has no clue (assume that he might be wrong about the Mole).

According to the YouTube page for ThatDarkSpark, TDS is not present for the translation of the final WIDM episode. Just curious if anyone knows what may have happened. I desperately want to see the final episode, but definitely more concerned about TDS. Also, is TDS Topita? Makes me even more concerned if it is.

Yeah. Even I know the final result, I still want to watch the final episode.
About TDS, I read on Sucks. They talked about someone who did sub the the series. Even the name is different but I think that is TDS. People on Sucks also are worried about him/her due to the absence.
And I also wonder if TDS is Topita, too. Hope that TDS's just too busy.
