My beautiful Misty Cat, a 3 year old grey long hair, had to leave us today, due to Feline Infectious Peritonitis. There is no cure for this disease, and no real vaccine either. She was vomiting a lot over the last couple of weeks, and really lethargic. Lost a lot of weight, and I though maybe she had irritable bowel or a hairball.
Vet took an xray, and there was fluid surrounding almost every organ in her body. Vet was very sweet, and she said that they could drain the fluid, but it was just buying some time. She said the fluid around the lungs and heart would cause either suffocation or a heart attack shortly.
Misty and I decided that it would be best if she went over the Rainbow Bridge, where she would be cured and could run and play and catch stupid Rats. I told her to especially torment any rat named Andy.
Nothing anyone could do, and I know you don't really know me or Misty, but I wanted to have a memorial for her out here in the ethernet.

Pets are family. Saying goodbye is one of the hardest things ever, and I am sure you will miss her dreadfully. You did the best for her you could. I am so sorry you had to go through that, but sounds like Misty had a wonderful kitty Mom! I hope she is chasing rats in kitty heaven!
Thank you for sharing her with us, do you have a photo of her you can share?

So sorry Mamacat. Letting them go is the hardest thing even when you know it's what is best for them. But, as you said, she is over the Rainbow bridge now. She's happy and healthy and will be waiting for that far off day when you two will see each other again. Take comfort in the knowledge that you gave her a good life and that she knew she was loved.

So sorry for your loss Mamacat. :'( Losing her is losing a member of your family and terribly hard especially when you have to decide what is the best thing for her. I love the idea of her crossing the rainbow bridge and living without pain and doing whatever she wants to do, especially chasing rats. :)
