omg Joey & Meghan and Mona & Beth think that they're on the first flight... awkward.
I've never realized how unattractive the hockey brothers were until now :0I think Bates is kinda attractive...except for his teeth obviously. Anthony's not my type at all.
:pull :pull :pull :pull
I believe this means Joey and Meghan are the first team to be U-Turned twice in the same season?

Weren't the Weavers in the Family Race?
So it's basically gonna be a barrel race for elimination
My prediction is that Mona and Beth win this one. I don't see Meghan and Joey being able to do the barrel challenge.
I think the reason they didn't is because the first three teams don't really care who gets eliminated. They'd rather it be Joey and Meghan, but they'd definitely take not having Beth and Mona there either.
You're right I think. At least they didn't use the U-Turn as in the last season :)

Also they might just not have thought of it. Sri Lanka were pretty clever.
While Mona/Beth survivoed, I still think Maxie should have used their U-Turn on Bates/Anthony to eliminate it without hurting Mona/Beth & Caroline/Jenhowever they had no intention not to make them suffer. I think the alliance's rationale was to make both of the teams to tough it out against each other.
These alliances kill me. I would think if Bats and Anthony had half a brain, they would have U-turned Max and Katie. Would you not want to go up against a bunch of weaker teams.
I hate when teams dont use all resources to the best they can.
As my grandparents would say , Pshaw!
HAHA BYE Joey/Meghan
Though Chuck & Wynona had a penalty for not oing the task how it said, yet Bates/Anthony carried not ROLLED the barrels out? And no penalty? :(
They wouldn't have been eliminated because of the flight situation so no need to create bad blood.
Is this the first time since the Double U-Turn's introduction when 4 teams were actually involved in the U-Turn? (2 users + 2 victims)
That's what I said.. The first time since TAR 17's occurrence (with Jill/Thomas, Brook/Claire, Nat/Kat, and Chat/Stephanie). Maybe I was being a bit obscure. Is this the first time since the Double U-Turn's introduction when 4 teams were actually involved in the U-Turn? (2 users + 2 victims)
Nope, in S17 Jill & Thomas U-Turned Brook & Claire while Nat & Kat U-Turned Chad & Stephanie

It cost them first place and $10,000. Also, bad blood who cares? This is for the finals. Its all over-with.

Bates & Anthony: Assclowns, why keeping the newlyweds?? Can't u see they're getting stronger? Don't u wanna secure the winning?

Josh and Brent come to mind when it comes to the guarantee or lack of a guarantee over a win due to weak competition. Plus, Max & Katie would have survived anyway, being the second team to arrive at the U-Turn

EXACTLY. I actually think Bates and Anthony were the biggest threat. I'm just saying.
Lucky me! email, okay?
For anyone wondering why Bates & Anthony didn't get a penalty for carrying and not rolling the barrels:
Phil Keoghan @PhilKeoghan 1h
#Detour called #WhiskeyRollin but clue details say they simply have to move them on their own rolling carrying, kicking .. under their power
So that cleared up a lot of things, annoyingly for me, I went up and down the royal mile the night they were here, and didn't think to go along the Cowgate, otherwise I would have seen the pitstop :groan:
The Holiday Inn is just down the road from the pitstop, which accounts for the team stopping there to ask for directions.
Mona & Beth reach the castle. Joey & Meghan arrive right after. Mona chooses to do the roadblock. Meghan chooses to do the roadblock. Meghan thinks that she can easily do this.
Did anybody else think that this Speed Bump was the hardest ever?
DAMN those flightsI say just the opposite. The best incidents of past Amazing Race season have been where teams use their superior sweat equity or special access to get ahead with flights (example - Charla and Mirna flying Warsaw to Kuala Lumpur in AR11). They deserve it!
It would have been more interesting if Bates/Anthony didn't u-turn anyone and if Max/Katie u-turned Mona/Beth. Then we could have seen if Mona/Beth would have u-turned on Mehgan/Joey to save themselves (which would have been the smart thing to do).
I think the moms and Joey and Meghan can only blame themselves for not checking twice. But then again they had some bad luck there. Had they not get on and went to ask, I think they would have been on the earlier flight too. Just that it was too careless of them to not check... but it could have happened to any team. The only team that deserved credits for checking the earliest flight is Max and Katie here. And for that, they deserved to win the Leg, IMHO.
Loved the Roadblock, Detour and Speedbump. So SCOTTISH! The pit-stop greeter is really interesting too and I remembered taking a tour with my tour guide dressed the same way as him too! Kudos to Max for guessing correctly who he is!
Was rooting for Joey and Meghan. But props to the moms... Joey and Meghan behaved like they were on a holiday. -_-

I really don't see that at all, don't know where you got that from.
Overall, this episode was pretty good. Airport drama is always entertaining. I know the castles in Edinburgh are magnificent, but the tasks... not so much. Firstly, the Roadblock was boring despite the unique toughness I like in challenges. Walking around in a square blowing a tune into a bagpipe wasn't very cool. Mona & Beth's bowling Speed Bump was pretty funny when they freaked out in their first tries. The redeeming moment of the episode. The Detour was shockingly good. :stare I didn't like the poet reenactor's haggis remarks as it got annoying, but Caroline & Jennifer is factor that made him tolerable. The whiskey barrel rolling felt like the good ol' TAR days. Feels like something season 14 would have done in one of the Europeab legs. I don't know why, it just feels fun.

No, the Malawi slide puzzle had to be the hardest.
Off Topic. Just to let you all know that after lost emails, forgotten passwords and invalid codes, I'm back. For those who know who I am, it is the same me, just re-branded. Even though I was muted, I have kept up with the forum. Great work guys! Great season! Ready to help in spotting Season 23. Greetings... X.

I wish they showed more of the Roadblock preparations like season 10's classical music sheet Detour choice in Ukraine with Tyler & James and Rob & Kim.Overall, this episode was pretty good. I guess that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I love to hear good bagpipe music (and the Royal Scots are right up there with the best) anywhere anytime. It made an excellent ROADBLOCK along with the kilts in my opinion.
In this case it was entirely JM and MB's fault for getting confident and assuming there were no earlier flights. The current rules allow you to book any number of tickets, so why not do your homework and always keep looking for something better?DAMN those flightsI say just the opposite. But is it always that, or that some get crap information and some are just luckier to get good information. It's the same often with directions on route to a detour / roadblock as well. Some people know the best way and some don't, you just have to hope you are lucky and meet the right person.

Xarles IS back as Xarles! Thanks to Georgia Peach and Texas Lady!!! Thanks for your welcoming, Alenaveda & Plaidmoon. So nice to finally be able to be back in touch. Of course I never took my eyes away from the forum, but was reluctant to open a new account, which I finally did but cancelled it again so I can keep being Xarles with the help of the distinguished ladies from Georgia and Texas!!!
by the way, did you notice during Mona & Beth for Haggis with Clue but you see back boys crew stuff trying give a clue?

So it's the crew that decides whether a team is ready to move on in a challenge like that and not those supposed to be judging? Looks a bit strange.
I think that has probably always been the case. The local "judges" may have some influence but WRP can't let them completely run the race
From talking to the folks at the Sheep Heid Inn, Bertram Van Munster was in the pub buying everyone drinks, so if anyone had a say on when to award the clue, I'm guessing it would be him.
