Cricket being played in a sandy looking field indicates India, Sri Lanka or Bangladesh.
sri lanka could be one of our asia legs if the cricket cap IS to be featured his season
-
Could be any former British Colony, lol.
-
Cricket is also extremely popular in Australia. While I doubt that they come here again I wouldn't automatically assume India - There are MANY former or current Commonwealth countries where cricket is still popular. (I'm not saying it isn't India but we can't be sure)
-
Cricket is also popular in the Carribean (doubt it), South Africa, Zimbabwe and New Zealand.
-
They showed a Buddha statue in the opening, so it could be a Buddhist country before Japan.

Just the vibe I got from the pic it looked to be in a muddy area which I think rules out Australia. Who knows.
I doubt its Australia, but saying this there are definately muddy areas in Australia, its pretty big and you could pretty much find any sort of terrain (except for snow and tundra) somewhere on the continent.
India and Sri Lanka are the most likely however Zimbabwe and South Africa are also mad about cricket and they are visiting Africa so it might be either of those as well.

That Buddha statue is from the Pit Stop of TAR19 Leg 5 in Bangkok

Oh I thought all of those were new and teaser to coming destinations  All of them look new to me like the maiko they shown and some African tribes.

Neuschwanstein Castle,Germany was showed before Dave and Rachel's intro

-
I have a copy now but cannot do the caps until tonight, darn work!!
-
I also found
Hiroshima torii,Japan in intro(last part)
and since I also saw shinkansen in intro,I think we may have 2 Japan legs.
-
Is there a full complete intro of TAR, as Survivor gave me a great sense of disappointment

really? Then hopefully they could visit an Atomic Bomb memorial there and pay respect to the victims of atom bomb attack on the last days of World War II just like what it did before on Auschwitz prison camp in Poland on the All Star edition. Sadly, the Japanese sisters got eliminated first and they'd missed to get there. :'(
-
Please use the speculation thread guys, this thread is for the ID of Intro caps, route spec should go to loactions or spec. Thanks!

These are the new ones from the intro caps. There are also three shots of wild animals ( gnou, lion and cheetah)

The maiko :<3
I hope Japan has two legs. Kyoto & Osaka.
-
#3 - could be a vista of the Ngorongoro Crater in Tanzania (with possible pitstop at the Ngorongoro Crater Lodge)
#9 - this is recycled, it's the Umeda Sky Building , Osaka, Japan. TAR's been there, done that.
#10 - cricket could actually be in Tazania (only because the trees in the background match those in Tanzania, and not tropical Kirala).
-
That's an acacia tree. Those are found from Africa through Asia and Australia.
-
#12 European style statue? :duno:
-
I think these are new?

Someone probably knows what exactly #14 is but it looks like India to me.
@weihen, They have used that shot of Itsukushima Shrine a lot.

My fault...It's Lake Ashinoko near Tokyo... TAR18 has been used it in intro to Japan but different shot :

I still think that's a new one since I not found the shot of it at night in past Japan legs.

-
#13 - no surprise, it's the JR Shin-Osaka Railway Station, Osaka Japan (with Shinkansen)
http://www.superstock.com/stock-photos-images/1566-822573
-
#14 is the Bibi Heybat Mosque in Baku, Azerbaijan
-
:yess: horsey guy is the statue of Martin Miguel de Güemes in Salta, Argentina
-

I would hazard a guess that the graffiti is in Paraguay
The guy's shirt matches the National Soccer Team's Home Jerseys:

Nice one Djr!
-
don't know if we already have this but cap 15 is a lagoon in honolulu. on the left of the lagoon is the ala moana bech park and to the right is the hawaii yacht club next to the hilton hotel
-
I'd definitely saw a Japanese geisha and a Buddhist/Shinto Temple in Japan on the intro clip of TAR 20, and that temple is probably somewhere in Kyoto and they might go there. If someone send 2 pictures that I'd mentioned it, please post it here 'cause I don't have time to post it here. :-[
-
Japanese geisha scene possibly shot in Toei Kyoto Studio Park.
-
Nice one DavidJunior!
-
I advanced #6 a few frames and got this. Anybody read Japanese? Maybe there's an Osaka connection.

The writing on her lower left is Takeda. It's a geiko place in Kyoto.

8
(http://www.ccpihawaii.com/nss-folder/pictures/onewaterfronttowers1.jpg)
#8 is One Waterfront Towers in Honolulu, HI. Can't believe no one caught this one. The pictures are taken from different angles (front and back), but if you compare the buildings in the cap (A) to the the one I found online (B) I think you'll agree with me.
If you look between the towers at the base, both pictures appear to have the same flat-topped triangular shape (obviously reversed). In (A), the brown parking structure concrete looking building on the right base of the right tower can just be seen in the lower left corner of (B). In (A) you can see a two-storied, large-windowed building on the near side of the right tower, just peeking out of the base of the left tower in (B).
There's a lot more 'matches' if you look for them, but it's obvious to me that pic (B) was taken soon after the building was put up, the parking lot hadn't even been put in or the building painted.
Doh!!! All of that work, then I remembered this... below is one of bspencer's eyewitness pics for comparison of what it looked like when the racer's were there. Da-da-da-daaah...

Thanks, choroneko. Since we already have a Shinkansen cap, perhaps it's possible for a single Osaka/Kyoto leg? Traveling by train between the two cities would take less than an hour. (assuming, of course, that the Gion Kobu stuff isn't just B-roll)
-
Here's the Noren or the symbol of the Takeda izakaya in Kyoto.
It is exactly the same with the one in the intro cap.
-
really nice work, Choroneko!!!
But what IS a geiko place/this place? Is it a Tea bar? A dance school? A geisha school??
I am confused...

It's like a bar or teahouse where geisha/geiko performs.
To why TAR chose Takeda, I do not know hehe..
I hope they'll do a roadblock or detour with a geisha. Drinking games or dance routines probly. Oh that would be so awesome.
-
Cap 7 is Kahana Bay on the windward (eastern) coast of Oahu.
Cap 11 is a Makanikai Helicopter. They do charter tours of Oahu.
-
Boston Jen , you are spot on! The settlement is Kaaawa (who said there is no word with three consecutive a's?). This shot was taken here:

 Yep, you got it, Ala Wai Yacht Harbor.
I was double checking to make sure we had all the identifiable Hawaiian caps nailed down, and I just noticed this one, which you had already figured out. If the angle was a bit different, you could see my high school, but it was the last cap I recognized.
:lol3:
