so i guess the safari place is in the next leg.  regarding the fast forward, i dont think there would be one.  it hasnt happened ever since the express pass came about.  maybe they bring it back.  i will do some research and provide info if i find out any.

This could be the roadblock location: http://www.ahlmw.com/about.php

Quote
Auction Holdings Limited (AHL) provides a platform for tobacco trading in Malawi. AHL runs four main floors for selling of tobacco. These floors are Limbe floors, Lilongwe Floors, Chinkhoma Floors and the Mzuzu floors. AHL also runs rural markets. At all these floors AHL provides facilities and support structures that enable smooth trading of tobacco.

Here's something about a job at the floor called "tobacco runners."  http://www.fairtradetobacco.org/?p=190

I can't figure why they need to run, but they are running with a tobacco pallet on a dolly much like the racers were doing.

Good find!

I seem to remember that we had a spoiler regarding the tobacco warehouse in July that all but confirmed our suspicions about Malawi, can anyone else recall how we found that out?

Limbe Leaf looks to be either the same place or in the same area as the auction floor.

ETA: It looks like a branch of Auction Holdings: http://www.ahlmw.com/contact.php

Land & Lake Safaris
We are excited to get 'The Amazing race' contestants arriving tomorrow. Land & Lake Safaris are pleased to be assisting in this well-known international event that we hope will showcase Malawi's attractions.

Could Malawi be an option?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We have them!!
Thanks to an AWESOME new friend, we have independent confirmation that teams arrived Lilongwe airport yesterday June 30th.
They went to Limbe Leaf to do something with tobacco...Limbe Leaf is a large tobacco firm in Lilongwe.
http://www.limbeleaf.com/about_profile.html (http://www.limbeleaf.com/about_profile.html)
The world is a wondrous place... new friends are everywhere!   :hearts:
We do not know how the safari company was used yet...my guess may be as a coordinator/transport rather than a "safari" per se.
We do know that they went to Lake Malawi and were asking for directions to the Lake on the plane.
This find however:
From Facebook:
On the shores of Lake Malawi watching The Amazing Race contestants coming in. Classic.
turned out NOT to be us...but instead was related to this RACE which was there the same time:
http://www.putfootrally.com/ (http://www.putfootrally.com/)
Their 4th checkpoint was on Lake Malawi July 2 ...go figure. :lol:
I can share though that the
Quote
the Amazing Race people stayed the night here in Malawi at a lodge called Kumbali Cultural Village. They would have stayed in Very basic accommodation in the bush and been treated to some cultural dancing etc and bathing with buckets of water and cups.. Its on the same piece of property owned by the people who own the lodge where Madonna stays when she comes here. (Kumbali Country Lodge.)
Two things -- carrying a wooden bed frame while carrying backpacks is going to be physically demanding.
Second, the local costumes are very bright and very colorful. (Purple, orange, aqua or turquoise,are in the caps; it wouldn't surprise me if there are more such colors once the episode is aired.
What about thinking as dressing those costumes clothes? I'd laugh so much if Marcus is seen wearing that, :lol:
Weren't we just teased with Armani and Bill and Cathie having a foot race at the end of the last episode. Armani mentioning he respects them, but would out run them.
Sure it could have been some light hearted banter, or production showed it  to plant seeds in our head for this episode?
Ouch. According to this site (http://www.limbeleaf.com/op_leafpurchasing.html), the bales are almost 200 lbs. each. Pushing that around while while bent-over (even slightly) is a great way to ruin your back.
Okay...I am puzzled. The tobcco task is clearly a RB.
BUT we also see racers ALONE at the school, some focused on a task and others in a hurry, while others are playing...
Zac Andy goes running behind Tommy who is casually playing soccer with the little one.
Sandy is doing something with those cartons, we also see the 2 little girls dragging toys made from the (??) same cartons with A/T's  feet behind.
I am most puzzled by Zac running alone... odd to see that except in a RB.
I know we see a Detour Clue in Jeremy's hand... but are we sure that is not the next clue? Or is the school part of the Detour?? ???
And the beds we see on the truck with Marcus and also being carried by by Amani, Jeremy, Sandy, Bill, And Cindy......could deliver the beds be part of the school task?? Or for a clinic?? Maybe there is a Clinic and a school?? :duno: Just thinking out loud.
And then, based on the press release:
Quote
After falling to the back of the pack, a disheartened racer is encouraged by the spirit of the local workers,
That should be Marcus, he is alone with all the Turq coveralled men in the Limbe Tobacco House...which makes me think the Tobacco task could come LAST, giving M/A a chance to get to the back of the pack....
All spec, feel free to chime in here??   :lol:
I think the bed task is last because it talks about the sprint to the pitstop for several teams. And Marcus says "Most important part of the leg for us, and our cab breaks down" when the bed is in the trunk of a car. "most important part of the leg" = close to the end?
I believe Marcus and Amani just got bad luck when their taxi broke down and that's how they are at the back of the pack - maybe right before the tobaco task?
My guess is that it's safari trip to the School,
Detour at the school one where cartons are made (toys for the children - Sandy tells Jeremy to enjoy some of this, because the kids are all excited??) and/or whatever Cathi seems to be doing (clothing),
then Roadblock Tobacco task,
then bed task,
sprint to the finish (while carrying the beds?).
Zac goes running behind Tommy who is casually playing soccer with the little one.
 That's actually Andy behind Tommy. He is wearing the same dark blue blouse  as in the tobacco factory. Which indeed makes it weird for one team member running while the other is playing with the kids.
As for the beds:
I can share though that the
Quote
the Amazing Race people stayed the night here in Malawi at a lodge called Kumbali Cultural Village. They would have stayed in Very basic accommodation in the bush and been treated to some cultural dancing etc and bathing with buckets of water and cups.. Its on the same piece of property owned by the people who own the lodge where Madonna stays when she comes here. (Kumbali Country Lodge.)
Could they be transporting their own beds? And maybe sleep outside like in TAR 7 pitstop at Makgadikgadi Pans.
Zac goes running behind Tommy who is casually playing soccer with the little one.
 That's actually Andy behind Tommy. He is wearing the same dark blue blouse  as in the tobacco factory. Which indeed makes it weird for one team member running while the other is playing with the kids.
.
Thanks Kiki!! Absolutely right.
But these promos have been pretty on the money, they try to tell a story ...
SO I think we see a market for some reason...not just passing by.
Perhaps they have to purchase supplies for the Detours?
fabric...what ever those cartons are at the school, even the beds?? Just spec, but if we see a market, we should ask why.
Can anyone spot WHAT those cartons are? Milk? :duno:
The cartons are form a drink called chibuku shake-shake, a kind of local beer.
There is a big open air market in Lilongwe in the old part of town.
http://maps.google.com/maps/place?q=lilongwe+market&hl=en&cid=3058732286888009701
The same area is referred to 4-square as Lizulu market.
From the few pictures I've seen it could be the market in the promo. Of course the same could be said for every market in Africa. :groan:
The light in there looks funny to me...like partially covered with some light coming thru? Does not look like pure uncovered, esp with the (I think) sign that says Book Shops hanging from the rafters...
OMG! Where? I don't see it.
Because of the non-cluebox and the two envelopes I think this is the first stop in Malawi. I think the pitstart clue is the other envelope in her hand.
YES!! I THINK ITS A UTURN AS WELL!  :yess:
if you can see there is a reflection of a stand behind their legs! their faces they would only be facing opposite their clue if it was a pit start or a u-turn! but from the looks of Ernie and Cindy's faces that is a u-turn point! nice find guys!!  :tup:
im guessing one of the clues in Cindy's hand is where to find the u-turn and the other is the clue you pick up after you've decided whether to u-turn or not
ahhh i cant wait!! :D
because the Ernie and Cindy have the 6th clue which means they are the first team to arrive at the u-turn (if thats what it is)  :duno:
I don't see any reflection of a stand.
If you are talking about the reflection between their thighs and right below Ernie's knuckles, that is a reflection of the clock tower behind them.
Now their might be an U-Turn but that isn't a reglection of one.
does Sandy say, "we got passed by old people" in clip 3?? Her voice is a little distraught. Maybe their in the bottom of the pack?
I would assume that Ernie and Cindy are towards the front because they're laughing and carefree and not to concerned with Cindy falling/struggling.
From Promo 3 it does appear that these three teams are in this order.
Sandy and Jeremy
Bill and Cathi
Cindy and Ernie
This Cindy and Ernie seem not to worried to be behind them, possible indicating that they are not in last and they know it.
It's Cindy in front of Cathi since she is wearing a blue and white shirt with shorts going just below the knees, like in the promo when she is beneath the bed. Ernie is just behind, with a black tshirt.
One of the vidcaps from this week's promos clearly shows the shadow of the cameraman on the ground. I was quite surprised to see it!
According to the village's official website, the nearby lodge that owns the village is also a dairy farm. Could this relate to the "Move Goat" title quote?
Good thought! But no goat tasks seen. Goats are everywhere, on the streets too so :duno:
But seems like a lame title to me when we coulda had "You are in an African Jail" !! :lol3:
That very well could be since Amani and Marcus have car troubles and Sandy looks like she is struggling.
Cannot wait!
Do we ever have a NEL and a UTurn together? ??? Seems a waste?
Not feeling the UTurn anymore... since the NEL would fit so well here.
How about a TBC? That combined with the U-turn would be interesting.
And there was a U-turn on a NEL leg once but it was unused. They have been trying to soften the U-turn lately so maybe it's not impossible.
It is true that there has never been an unadvertised U-turn though.
I just noticed that the imagery date for the L.E.A School is June 28th, 2011.
That was two days before the Teams were there!  Wrong time of day though   :lol:
Someday we will have those satellite shots of the Race in action    :jam:
Watch watch! Not a big spread between the teams this week. First team Andy/Tommy check into Lilongwe at around 3.30pm, while last place Amani/Marcus check in at around 4.10pm.
I'm not surprised; the teams overlapped each other on the bed task and in the tobacco warehouse task, and the taxi ride from the airport and getting the truck to carry the bed frames probably did not take as much time as might be implied by the editors. I'm almost surprised the spread was 40 minutes.
And I was surprised by how close most of the teams were starting out at the beginning of the leg in Bangkok (and even though it really didn't seem like it at the end of the last episode.)
