On Monday at 9:00 pm EDT, we will mark the tenth anniversary of the premiere broadcast of TAR's first episode on CBS ("The Race Begins"), from the original start line at Bethesda Fountain in Central Park of New York City, to Songwe Village.
It was the only episode of TAR to be broadcast anywhere prior to the attacks in New York, Washington and Pennsylvania on 9/11/2001.

That is such a milestone. Also the fact, that we are marking the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks as well. :(

Yay for TAR! :hearts:  Here's to ten more years! :jam: :keeta:

Congratulations to TAR! Was watching one of the many documentaries they were showing on 9/11 and there a TAR billboard was, on the sides of a dust-covered New York City bus... :(

Popped my TAR DVD in to watch the very first episode. TAR was such a newborn, still learning how to walk. The editing, the music. Very interesting and hilariously nostalgic.
Here's to 10 more years of TAR! :hearts:

My memory can play tricks on me across a decade, but wasn't the Amazing Race 1, episode 1 broadcast on Wednesday Sept. 5, 6 days before 9/11/01? the schnauzers, why celebrate it on September 1?
-
Who did? ??? He made the post on Sept 1 to alert us to the upcoming Sept 5 milestone!!
As for me...EVERY day is a TAR celebration. :hrt:

I posted last Thursday night, rather than on Monday because Monday was a legal holiday in the U.S., and for many folks it's the last chance to take a summer holiday weekend off.
I'm not sure how putting the correct date in the thread title misled anyone, but I'm always surprised by how obvious things can be mis-read.
