KIRSTIE ALLEY – Kirstie Alley has emerged as one of the great actresses of her generation, proving time and again that she is capable of great depth and range, as well as possessing comedic timing second to none. Kirstie’s work in television has earned her seven Golden Globe and eight Emmy nominations, winning one Golden Globe, two Emmys and three People’s Choice Awards. She co-wrote and starred in Showtime’s critically acclaimed comedy “Fat Actress,” and played the title character, as well as serving as executive producer, on the NBC sitcom “Veronica’s Closet.” In 1994 Kirstie showcased her dramatic range starring in the CBS TV movie “David’s Mother,” for which she won her second Emmy. She made her movie debut in 1982 in “Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan,” in which she played beautiful Vulcan officer Lieutenant Saavik. In 1999 Kirstie starred in the dark comedy film “Drop Dead Gorgeous,” a cult-classic mockumentary that follows the contestants in a beauty pageant in Minnesota. He was given the honor of being named to the Steelers’ 75th Season All-Time Team, and this fall will be entering his 14th season with the Pittsburgh Steelers as the longest tenured wide receiver with the same team in the NFL. Considered by many the best blocking wide receiver to ever play the game, he is fresh off an outstanding performance in a close loss to the Green Bay Packers in this year’s Super Bowl a few weeks ago. Hines is a fierce competitor with a big smile and a big heart; Beyond his NFL career, he is a symbol of success and good will to the Korean community and all of Asia. Portraying life in the spotlight and the challenges of raising a toddler son and being an NFL wife, the show is a fun-filled, action-packed look into the real world of Kendra Wilkinson. She got her start on one of E! Entertainment’s highest rated television shows, “The Girls Next Door,” co-starring on the reality hit for five seasons, until 2009, when she closed that chapter in her life and opened a new one. I thought it was a great start and Wendy Williams could well be the first one out. She really was stiff. I was surprised by how well Ralph Macchio did.
'DWTS' -- light on 'Stars,' heavy on 'Dancing'
March 22, 2011 ι Jarett Wieselman
Season 12 of "Dancing with the Stars" kicked off with a star-studded (mostly in the audience though) premiere last night, and while I very much felt like an owl at the start -- who? who? who? -- by the end, I was wowed by a handful of the celebrities assembled to compete for Bruno's uncomfortable compliments and America's votes.
One of the most promising performers was first out of the gate: Disney star Chelsea Kane kicked off the night with a youthful and energetic Foxtrot, choreographed by her partner Mark Ballas. But her charm wasn't limited to the dancefloor -- Chelsea also sparkled in the pre-performance package, meaning she's got the goods to take it all the way. As long as America backs up the judges positive scores.
Things fell off a cliff from there as Wendy Williams looked stiff, uncomfortable and -- shockingly -- timid on the dancefloor throughout her Cha-Cha. The judges weren't very kind with their scores, meaning she might have to buy some extra wigs to dry those tears during next week's elimination.
Her future on the show took another hit when Wendy became bookended by better boogiers as Hines Ward followed with a Cha-Cha that was everything her wasn't -- fun, effortless and filled with pizazz. The rollercoaster continued as that high was immediately followed by another low courtesy of Petra Nemcova. A heavy-footed foxtrot left me worried that her amazing partner Dmitry Chaplin won't be seeing the finals again this season. I also doubt his "SYTYCD" cohort Chelsea Hightower's chances of making it very far this season. Not because her partner, rapper Romeo, is unskilled -- he's decent on the dancefloor -- but his attitude is already irking me after just one pre-performance package.
Then we were given the great Sugar Ray Leonard who floats like a butterfly and stings like a bee -- in the boxing ring. On the dancefloor, he was a bit stiff and sloppy, but the judges see hope for him. Personally I'd rather see the equally problematic yet promising Kendra Wilkinson bunnyhop over him as the weeks wear on. She not only brings an amazing energy to the show and practice room, but there are definitely skills in her bag of tricks -- I just think she needs to focus more and not let the crowd's energy get her all riled up because every time she got excited, her Cha-Cha became sloppy.
The night's first major surprise came when Karate Kid Ralph Macchio crane kicked his way onto the show. His rehearsal footage -- filled with missteps and flubs -- had me terrified America would (wax on, wax) off him from the show almost immediately, but any fears were instantly swatted away the instant his Foxtrot with Karina Smirnoff began. Airy and amazing, his graceful footwork and classy posture makes him a premiere night frontrunner.
I can't say the same for Chris Jericho and Mike Catherwood -- two dudes who dance like dudes. And that is not a compliment. Chris was stiffer than the boards he breaks over opponents backs throughout his Cha-Cha with Cheryl Burke while Mike was prepared to be the worst dancer and he was. But his secret weapon will be that amazing sense of humor he sprinkled around for seven amazing minutes. Mike could be someone who ekes through by the skin of his teeth every week because people like hearing what he has to say. And unlike last year's talentless third-place contestant, I'd be A-OK if Mike benefits from being a trainwreck.
Finally we had the most famous "Star" competing this season: Kirstie Alley. Paired with Maksim Chmerkovskiy, no one quite knew what to expect from her -- save for an amazingly self-depreciating sense of humor. And while she brought the fat jokes in spades ("if someone told me to haul ass, it would take two trips") she also brought some fancy footwork to the floor throughout her sassy and skilled Cha-Cha.
After night one, I'm predicting a Ralph Macchio vs. Kirstie Alley finale, which would also be amazing since their "DWTS" partners used to be engaged ... and I don't think things ended on good terms. So seeing their rivalry all season long promises to be just as exciting as the dancefloor firework.

ABC press release:
THE SECOND OF TEN REMAINING COUPLES WILL LEAVE THE BALLROOM,
ON "DANCING WITH THE STARS THE RESULTS SHOW," TUESDAY, APRIL 5, ON ABC
Platinum Selling Disney Channel Star Selena Gomez and
Rock Sensations OneRepublic Set to Perform
"Episode 1203A" - The competition grows tougher as a second couple is sent home, on "Dancing with the Stars the Results Show," TUESDAY, APRIL 5 (9:00-10:01 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network.
On Tuesday night, Disney Channel star Selena Gomez & The Scene will perform their newest single, "Who Says," accompanied on the floor by series pros Mark Ballas and Chelsie Hightower. Also this week, rock sensations OneRepublic will play their smash hit "All the Right Moves" with the "Dancing with the Stars" Dance Troupe in the ballroom. The band will also play their newest release, "Good Life," with series pro dancers Dmitry Chaplin and Lacey Schwimmer on the floor.
Platinum-selling Disney Channel star Selena Gomez and her band "The Scene" recently launched their new single, "Who Says," from the upcoming Hollywood Records album, to be released this summer. The video for "Who Says," which was helmed by award-winning director Chris Applebaum (Rihanna, Britney Spears, Mariah Carey), premiered on Disney Channel last month. "Who Says," produced by Eman (Whitney Houston, Celine Dion) and co-written by Priscilla Renea (Cheryl Cole, Rihanna), is an up-tempo paean of self-empowerment. The song will be featured on Selena Gomez & The Scene's third CD, on the heels of their winning this year's People's Choice Award for Favorite Breakout Artist. Selena and her band already have a platinum single, two No. 1 Billboard Dance Singles, and two gold-selling, top-ten debuting albums under their belt. Selena's talent extends beyond music; she is the star of the hit Disney Channel original series "Wizards of Waverly Place" and has starred in a spate of big-screen movies, including "Ramona & Beezus" and upcoming Fox feature film "Monte Carlo" (July 1).
The smash hit rock band OneRepublic began touring in March, and their single "Secrets" remains in the Top 5 at Hot AC Radio. "Secrets" is the second single from OneRepublic's 2009 album, "Waking Up." A No. 1 hit on the iTunes chart in Germany, the track claimed the top spot on the iTunes Rock Chart in the U.S. in July. It is OneRepublic's fourth Top 40 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. After seven years together as a band, OneRepublic took the world by storm in 2007 with their debut release, "Dreaming Out Loud." The album included the smash single "Apologize," which shattered digital sales and airplay records worldwide, and, along with second single "Stop and Stare," propelled the album to platinum-plus sales. Their 2009 sophomore set, "Waking Up," has spawned two singles - "All the Right Moves" and "Secrets" - that have topped the radio charts and sold more than 3.4 million units to date. "Good Life" is their newest release from "Waking Up."
By Tuesday evening's end, one couple will be eliminated, as determined by a combination of the judges' scores and viewers' votes for Monday's performance. Who among the ten remaining teams will leave the ballroom floor?
* KIRSTIE ALLEY, television and movie star, and MAKSIM CHMERKOVSKIY
* CHRIS JERICHO, WWE star, with two-time champ CHERYL BURKE
* CHELSEA KANE, Disney star, and two-time champ MARK BALLAS
* SUGAR RAY LEONARD, boxing legend, and ANNA TREBUNSKAYA
* RALPH MACCHIO, movie star, and KARINA SMIRNOFF

I believe Kendra & Louie will leave. In our DWTS community, it looks like she really doesn't care for elegance at all. She needs that in this compitition. We have correctly predicted all three eliminations so far, here's to 4/4!
