Big Brother 10

All finalists for BB 10 have been notified.

To all of the people who applied this year - THANK YOU!

We had a huge number of applicants this season, which made our decisions even more difficult. Thank you so much for all your efforts and as I always say, don't give up hope....sometimes it takes a few tries before making it to finals.

Big Brother fans are truly THE BEST!

Robyn

Wow I hope they did a better job of casting, and learned their lesson. Though I think had it not been for the soulmates twist and people being thrown into alliances that could've played a part

Please BB gods, don't let this be true but the latest rumor I've found online is.........

There will be another winter edition of BB, Big Brother 11 in February 2009 and not just that, there will be a Big Brother 12 All-Stars next summer 2009.

I truly do hope the winter one is just a RUMOR!

From RealityFire.com

Found an article about the rumor on BB11:

Even though Big Brother 10 is only 47 days away, rumors about Big Brother 11th have already began to appear on the internet. While it is true Big Brother 9’s winter placement came about because of the writers strike, CBS was also looking to see if Allison Grodner and company could actually produce two seasons per year. Last winter Allison Grodner said there was discussions to have Big Brother two times per year and it might not be a one time event.

Today another round of these rumors spread around the net. JokersUpdates claims that “insider sources” have revealed that the planning for a Big Brother 11 - Winter Edition are already underway.

I would like to speculate that CBS could be looking to move Big Brother to it’s sister network - The CW for the winter edition. In recent articles about The CW’s forecast the future looks grim. One report said that the network could possibly go off the air if viewers didn’t tune in. Another article pointed out that The CW’s anchor series (Smallville) is planning to end it’s run next season. Moving Big Brother to the network would guarantee at least 3 to 4 million viewers three nights a week. Or, they could split the show between the two networks. They can air the nomination/food/power of veto competitions on The CW and the eviction show on CBS. Either way, Big Brother on The CW would restrengthen the network.

Another possibility is that the Winter Edition would be produced for GlobeTV to air exclusively in Canada. While unlikely, there have been a slew of online campaigns to local canadian television stations to have their own version of Big Brother.

You know, I used to wonder why Big Brother wasn't on twice a year (like Survivor, and TAR).  Now I know.  I need those 8 months to break from it.

Please let the Winter Edition in 2009 rumor be false.  And the show moving to the CW is stupid.  However, I doubt I would NOT watch it.  I would...hehe.

Yeah I think because of the live feeds, its alot more difficult for people to be true fans twice a year  Where as TAR and Survivor, one night a week and CBS does all the work/editing for us (except our wonderful people who do all the work for our spoilers).

There is a small article about BB10 in next week's TV Guide on page 38 and I'm typing it here:

 BIG BROTHER
returns 7/13, 8/7c, CBS

Think this winter's season of Big Brother was intense with its hospitalizations, emotional meltdowns and Bible-thumping evidoers? Just wait till you see what's in store for summer. "We're going to have our wildest group yet, " promises exective producer Allison Grodner. "We've found some very extreme personalities with very extreme points of view." Expect a wider age spread, too. After Evel Dick won Season 8 and Sheila placed third in Season 9, older wannabes are now banging down BB's door. "They're seeing that the younger contestants are impulsive and explosive and do themselves in," Grodner notes. "The older ones now feel they've got a real shot at the money."

"We're going to have our wildest group yet, " promises exective producer Allison Grodner.

Wilder than last season's bunch of kids?  Wilder than that night they spent in the pool getting drunk? Hmmm....lets hope they're as wild as season 9, but more entertaining.

Is it just me or do they say wilder than last season, EVERY season. Ok maybe it is just me  I think every year they have promised "this one is better than the last" and I thought they learned last season about their 'wild' houseguests.

Glad to see the older ones getting in. I know they have promised that for some time now!

Not to be an "age-ist" but I am looking forward to actual secret alliances and possibly some good game play with an older cast.  Less predictablity all the way around.

BTW Hi everyone- Miss you all-not for much longer though! :waves:

Ladies and Gentlemen, I want to introduce you to the first HG of BB10 (no bull****)
Current mood:  annoyed
Category: Movies, TV, Celebrities

Ok, I have gotten a few of these since BB8, but this one takes the cake...

I won't even put commentary in this anywhere, I will just let the letters speak for themselves....

This guy has been saying for months that he will be on BB10, but his lack of tarded letters in my box and the out of the blue letter with nothing but 3 YouTube clips leads me to believe that this poop stain really is going to be in the cast for BB10. And yes, I am serious, this is not some bull**** story I am telling you. I think this guy who calls himself The Silver Skidmark or some **** like that, is still in the final running to be cast on BB10.

If this jerkoff moron is on BB10, I have just given up hope of ever having another half way decent season to watch.

And to Robyn Kass, the Big Brother Casting Director
(and one of my favorite people in the world...)

Robyn,
If you really did cast this knob (with a walnut for a brain, and the personality that is a cross between your friendly neighborhood child molesting ice cream man and a character on the Sopranos...... There was "Big Pussy", and "Little Pussy", this guy is "Smelly Pussy"....)  I will have to stop being your friend. I will come by your house and be mean to your dog everyday while you are at work (I will even replace his poop with my poop as part of your punishment...) And I will call you five times a day asking where my Viking Helmet is. I will spread rumors all over Hollywood that you are dating Skreetch because of his dick size and add that you wear granny panties.

Well, Ladies & Gentlemen....
I present to you.....
Your first look at a HouseGuest from the upcoming season of Big Brother 10...
Self proclaimed
(in your mind you have to make this part sound like Michael Buffer, the famous boxing announcer is saying it, Skidmark would want it that way....)
The Number Asshole in the World.....

The Silverrrrrrrrrr Skiiiiidddddmaaaarrrrkkkkkkkkk!!!!!!!!

First off... you are introducing me to the number asshole? What is a number asshole?
Secondly... if you are telling me that you are still in the running for Big Brother 10 (they aren't even in the finals yet) you might not be. I will have to talk to casting to check this out, but.... you might have just blown it by telling me. Ooooops!

Now who's the biggest asshole.

Best you swear into the US Merchant Marines and see what real men do for work, your just a stroke alcohol pusher, not any different than a drug pusher but whos really counting huh.

Well, Dickweed...
If you were to be on BB10 like you said that means that you are in the process and aren't supposed to say anything to anyone like they told you, and are VERY adamant about.
And I am not sticking words in your mouth, there is already a fat cock in there.

Anyhow, it won't matter that I forwarded off our last conversation to the head casting director if you aren't in the process then, will it? But then again how could you be the biggest asshole ever on the show, in season 10, if you aren't?

So, in closing I will tell you to go **** yourself and get some more hair plugs while you are at it.

You are too easy, not even a challenge. You try to **** with me and in 2 minutes you are out of the running for the show. Ain't that a bitch. I might just solidify it by posting our conversation in a blog so everyone will see you as well.

You don't even know who the hell I am. Gotta feel good that you are one stupid idiot to push drinks for a living and with all those tatoos come years of shame. It is alright if you need someone to talk to just go get a job because your tv days are long ****in gone. Oh and yes I can read and whatever that has been told to you is not violating any rules so take your reading to the pit and get some glasses. You are also one of the uglist humans I have ever seen. Take showers once a month or once a week I cannot tell from that gostic freak out hair. You ever want a job in Hollywood kiss my ass peakaboo prick. If you had half of my brains you could be a dangerous fellow but I know you need lessons so just let me know when you want me to start.

PS: Long Beach sucks with all that exhaust fumes you must lick down everyday from the boats pump you up.

The mother ****er you never could beat, is that the truth or a lie. I always tell the truth even when I lie. Remember that.

Super Silver Kid

BAAAAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
HAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!!!!!!!

First off, Jenius... use spell check, because you can't spell for ****.

Secondly, if you were anything or anyone, you wouldn't be trying to get on a reality show.

Third, your best slams are calling me ugly? stupid? idiot? You are even more lame than how you dress and speak. Tattoos (notice the spelling and take note) from years of shame? Like I got them in the joint or something, right? By the way, what the **** is a peek a boo prick? Does it disappear when a woman tries to find it? And don't you mean if I had half of your only brain cell? Well, I think if I did you would be in a wheelchair drooling on yourself with someone changing your diapers once or twice a day while you **** yourself.

Fourth, I never gave a flying **** about being on TV. I went to play the game and win. I did what I set out to do. You on the other hand, will never even play the game. I don't give a **** what you read you jerk off, you know god damn well that you have been told quite a number of times that you are not to discuss being in the running for the show with anyone. You did. And a little FYI for your solitary brain cell to absorb.... THEY ARE ONLY IN THE SEMI FINALS, DUMB ****! That means that there are still about a THOUSAND people in the running for the show. The finals don't even start for another month.... You are an over confident twat. You are totally full of ****. You are a ****ing douche bag. And yes, as you started this conversation off by so proudly exclaiming, you are an asshole. Thing is, you are too big an egomaniac and too closely related to a ****ing monkey to realize that the "asshole" part of my game in the house was just but a very small bit of a very large, well thought out, well planned strategy that was talked over with my daughter for hours and hours while in the house. We planned strategies for weeks in advance covering every single possible scenario.

So, while you are just so happy with yourself that you made the semi-finals for this upcoming season that you obviously couldn't contain yourself (did you pee yourself a little too, like a puppy when he gets all excited and happy?) that you had to jump on myspace and give me the what for about how you are the main man.... you made yourself look like the main TOOL in the shed.

By your actions and reactions in your messages here, and how you left yourself completely wide open, you wouldn't have stood a chance against me in the game. I put you in check mate with your first note.... the first note, asshole. Checkmate. The thing you were trying to gloat about, brag to me about, you were still 2 months away from.

TO WIN THE SHOW YOU HAVE TO GET ON THE SHOW!

Let me also point out something that must have missed hitting that lone brain cell....
Not only was I an asshole, I had more complaints against me than all the previous Houseguests combined for all 8 seasons. And the best part... I was also the most popular Houseguest they have ever had on the show after even 9 seasons. I brought them the best ratings since season 3. I brought them the highest rated episode in the shows history (the 3 part HOH with Zach and Dani.)I brought them the highest rated episode of Season 9, when I hosted the POV. The second highest rated episode, the "Where are they now?" episode segment I did with Dani. And I was on Season 9 six times in total. The days I co-host housecalls, I near 2 million viewers... they have never gone over a million (excluding the episode I was .. I won.
That episode was the most viewed ANYTHING on ..CBS.
com.., it was so big the servers went down.) viewers on HouseCalls. The chat I just did with Janelle for Real Player was the most viewed ANYTHING ever on Real Player.

So, Johnny Jerkoff.... you go on about what a big Hollywood mogul you are. And tell me how because you are this big wig (trying to get on a reality show, yeah.. right) in Hollywood, how I will never work in this town again.

You are a pathetic waste of my time. And I have a million things I should be doing that are better than pointing out what a complete and total retard you are. They should have cast you in the Sopranos as a relative of Big Pussy and Little Pussy, as just "A Pussy"

Now, **** off and cry into your polyester suit and dream about how if you didn't **** up so bad how you would have been king of big brother, lmfaorotff!!!

Your Owner,

Evel****inDick, my bitch

This is what I got today....
To be honest, I made it through about 30 seconds of this retard's drivel before not being able to take anymore...
It says the same **** over and over, I will be talking to the world soon.

This is his way of saying that he (thinks) is going to be on BB10.
He obviously made it through to this point and after telling him he would be cut from the running if mentioning he was involved at all, he stopped writing me, but just couldn't contain himself any longer.....

So, what do you think? Think you want to see this turd brained dip **** in the Big Brother House?

There were links here but they don't work- you can just go to youtube and search, "Sliver Kid."  Dude is insane!

PLEASE FEEL FREE TO COPY AND PASTE THIS IN LETTERS TO EVERY BIG BROTHER WEBSITE YOU KNOW, JUST TO MAKE SURE THEY DON'T MAKE A MISTAKE AND LET THIS GUY RUINE MY SUMMER.... OUR SUMMER THIS YEAR.

DID YOU SEE THOSE YOUTUBES? DO YOU WANT TO HEAR THAT **** ALL ****ING SUMMER????

WELL, IF THIS TURD BURGLER IS TELLING THE TRUTH, AND HE IS TOO STUPID TO BE SUCH A JENIUS AND PUT ALL THIS TOGETHER OVER MONTHS. SO, HE PROBLY IS GOING ON THE SHOW.

BUT ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS MAKE SURE WORD GETS OUT THAT HE IS SAYING HE WILL BE IN THE HOUSE FOR BB10 AND HE WON'T BE....

I thank you and my brain thanks you for saving me from losing more brain cells due to being subjected to another season of idiot ideology and high pitched mind numbing voices that drive you to the edge of smashing your TV to bits just to make that horrible noise stop (Holly, Jessica, Amanda, Natalie.)

Join me in saying to everyone with the show...

That we like smart people with wicked senses of humor.

We like competitors who are smokin' hot, with great boobs and snappy lines like, "Bye Bye, Bitches!"

We like charasmatic manipulators who can piss on your head and tell you it is raining... And you will believe them!

That casting the right personalities is more important than a catchy twist they can make .99 a call from.

Stop screwing with the integrity of the game with **** like that ****ing Guinea pig question that ****ed Sharon in Season 9.

The twists always put someone at an advantage and someone else at a disadvantage. Please just let these people play on a level playing field..
Like they used to.

Feel free to change **** up with the rewards or powers. Like the Golden Power of Veto, ****ing Rules! The Diamond Power of Veto, should be brought back. The Coup d'etat was good as well.

It is a good game, it is a good show... I liked it best when it was stripped down to what it was in Seasons 2 & 3. It was personalities that made the show what it was then and it is what fans of the show, like myself... enjoy the most about the show. Not the twists, or the competitions or the eye candy. They are all part, but it is the personalities that make us come back and devote our ****ing lives to this show for 3 months out of the year. And the personalities do not ALL have to be extreme. Danielle from BB3, Diane BB5, Hardy BB2, Bunky... I can go on and on... Even Dr. Will & Janelle are not extreme personalities. Yet, I know that I am an extreme personality and there have been many great extreme personalities in the house as well with people like Jase, Howie, James BB9 and others. And you need your Roddy's, your Lisa's, your Erika's, your Sharon's that do toilet scrubbing with another HG's toothbrush, and although I hated her and every pimple on her fat face (she thought she was so hot, yack...) you need your Allison's BB4.

It is only my opinion, but I don't see the Silver Skidmark as someone that is going to propel Big Brother in any way. The object is to make it more interesting, not more annoying. If I wanted to be annoyed, I would have stayed married, ok?

As the old Exec Producer wrote to me in two letters, one in each of the seasons I didn't get on the show, Seasons 5 & 6... Dick, you just didn't quite fit the "mix" of the people we cast for this season. He is right, "the mix" is extremely important. Which is why last season was weak. Too many like personalities.

I understand casting these people is a ****ing tough job and that you don't know what you are getting most of the time until they are in the house.

And enough with people in the house knowing someone else in the house. In the beginning the whole thing with the show was "14 strangers together in a house."

I have never, ever heard anyone say... Wow, that was a great twist they had on Big Brother this season. The people they had on it sucked a fat dick, but the twist saved the season!

I checked the Showtime TV schedule and it's confirmed that Big Brother After Dark is returning for BB10 and will first air at midnight Sunday night, July 13th, the same day the first episode airs on CBS.

31 more days! Geez, it's right around the corner now.

If by some cruel twist of fate, Grodner actually allows this debris to be on the show, Puddin will come up with the perfect name for him that we can use instead.  :snicker: (Or she'll make us an appropriate smiley....)  :snicker:

It appears there is a new promo video that says 13 houseguests on it put out by CBS but I can't find the link....Dreamer posted it on Jokers but can't get the embedded code. If anybody can find it, please post it. Thanks....

So it appears we will have one less houseguest which does explain why BB10 is starting a week later than usual....does make sense to me.

13?? Maybe Silver Blabbermouth got cut so they only have 13 left.   Maybe we'll be given the option to put someone in the house.  ;)

The dates for the live audience weekly elimination dates are July 16, 23, 30 and August 6, 13 & 20. Those are the first six non-jury eliminations and there won't be an audience for evicted jury members since they will be sequestered until the finale.

The way I figure it so far, if they are only having 13 people, and the first 6 will be sent home, it means there will only be 5 people on the jury this time and as far as dates go, and if they do the finale on Sunday night like they did with BB9, I think the finale date will be on Sunday, September 14th.

they probably just started with 13 this time since the show is starting a week later

I take back the Sept 14th finale date, I think it's the 21st now. I'm just guessing is all. Since they posted the six dates for the live audience weekly eliminations and stopping on Aug 20th, so it means the first six are going home and then the next five will be jury evictees and no audience in fear of them yelling out information to them since they are shut off from the public until the finale and I'm also guessing no double eliminations this season as well. To explain how I came up...  (AGAIN, THIS IS PURELY JUST A GUESS!)

Aug 20th....sixth person evicted (last live audience participation)
Aug 27th....seventh person, first jury member evicted
Sept 3rd.....eighth person, second jury member evicted
Sept 10th...ninth person, third jury member evicted
Sept 15th...tenth person, fourth jury member evicted, Part 1 of 3 part HOH
Sept 16th...Part 2 of 3 part HOH
Sept 17th...Part 3 of 3 part HOH, eleventh person, fifth and final jury member evicted
Sept 21st...Live Finale show

This is how I'm guessing for up to the July 13th premiere episode

July 2nd or 3rd, houseguests report to sequester in L.A. Have their promo pictures and pre-show interview videos done

July 6th, houseguests revealed on the CBS website

July 8th, houseguests enter the Big Brother house, group picture at the pool or hot tub taken that evening

July 9th, group picture released

July 13th PREMIERE EPISODE AIRS

Apparently James from BB9 "confirmed" that the house decor for season 10 will be each room has a theme from a different generation .... (60s, 70s, 80s etc...)

I wonder if the twist is also "generation gap" sort of thing.

Hey everyone, I have some new BB10 information to share!

For personal reasons, I've decided to post Anonymously, but I'm a regular lurker of this site and have enjoyed it for quite some time now. We all get a kick out of the updates.

I'm here to give you a little information. I can't tell you how I know this information, simply because I don't want to put anyone (or myself) in jeopardy and I'm sure you understand, but trust me when I say that I have this information on VERY good authority.

First thing's first...

The "Together Again" ads mean nothing more than Summer + Big Brother. As far as I've been told, there's no hidden meaning to it. I'm guessing it's the network's way of luring back fans who may have been turned off by the winter season. Whatever the case, let's just get that out of the way first. No hidden meaning to the ads.

Alright, on to the real dirt...

Alli Grodner was quoted on BB9 finale night as saying "you will love it" regarding the twist of BB10. I know that I can't speak for all of you, but as a diehard Big Brother fan, I can say with complete honesty that she was telling the truth. This twist has been held very close to the vest and as a result it's too risky to leak it all (I know, I'm sorry!) but I can tell you this much: it twist involves mirrors and a "disappearing room."

The houseguests went into sequester sometime this past weekend. I haven't been told why it's such an early sequester. I didn't think to ask, but I'm assuming that the more detailed promos are about to begin airing...

As for the houseguests, the only information I know is that none of them are contestants from previous seasons, and there is a wide age range between all of them. I've heard that there's even a contestant in their 60's, but that's unsubstantiated. Anyway, the wide age range goes right along with the this year's theme of the house, which is essentially that each room has been decorated to look like it comes from a different decade/era. I haven't seen it myself, but I've heard it looks great and is very camera friendly.

Alright, that's pretty much all, everyone. Good luck trying to figure out the twist! You might think you have it figured out, but it's really more complex than it seems and I bet you'll never guess it. Have fun trying, though!

woah -- mirrors and a dissapearing room?
i dont even know how to begin guessing what the twist could be...
I believe the post because James BB9 also confirmed the house being rooms of different eras.

can't wait!

I agree Peach , sequester this early? I am not fully convinced either. What would they do with them for three weeks. Besides that, I don't think they would want them to get to know each other that much before the show starts. They would have to see each other sometimes in three weeks. I just don't see them keeping them that long before the show.

Just a personal opinion.....

They are not sequestered yet....too early

They will be sent to L.A. on the 5th or 6th, approximately a week before the premiere

All you hear or have been posted are basically rumors

Again, just my opinion

By the way, Michael, awesome prom picture and you're cute, too!

Here's something I've noticed:

July 16, 2008
Episode 3

Another houseguest is evicted from the compound.

Another Houseguest is evicted?  Does this mean we'll be getting an early eviction in the first episode, like they did in BB9?  Or is this just a typo?

Its generic Cinera, the listings are the same as they are every season from tvguide.

From the information I could gather online, when it was announced a few weeks ago that the houseguests were selected, in actuality, the top 35 were chosen at that time and they all were contacted earlier this week whether they made the final cut so the 13 houseguests were actually selected this week and will be reporting to sequester most likely next Wednesday and enter the Big Brother house the following Tuesday, the 8th to film footage for the premiere show on the 13th.

I keep reading that one houseguest will be a man in his 60's. Whether that's true or not remains to be seen. We should know who they are by the end of next week.

Brace yourselves, guys and gals, there is only 16 days left!

Puddin, did you get your tooth fixed?

BTW, Mama is due in 4 days and am still waiting on word of the arrival of her baby boy!

i dont even know how to begin guessing what the twist could be...

E D's blog on myspace

BB10, HouseCalls, RealPlayer, ShowTime, Eric & Jessica
Current mood:  sassy
Category: gassy Pets and Animals

I heard Eric and Jessica broke up. I don't know anything but that, so don't write me asking..... go write them and ask. And honestly, I don't really give a ****... I just thought it would stir it up letting everyone know that

And for what is more relevant to me....
Everyone wants to know what is up for BB10 and if I will be involved in any way.

HouseCalls
I thought long and hard when the offer to do House Calls was made. I really did. But to me the bottom line was this.... I had a good time doing it and obviously with the amount of people watching on the days I co-hosted the show, you enjoyed it as well. So, I decided to do HouseCalls one day a week, on Thursdays. And yes, I will be talking to the evicted HouseGuests on the show. So, expect the unexpected with Gretchen at the wheel and me with my foot pressing the gas peddle to the floor.

RealPlayer
Last season was such an overwhelming success with the things I did for Real Player Super Pass, that we have decided to expand my roll with them. So, every Wed. when the feeds normally go down because the live show takes place that day. Yes, the eviction day is Wed. this year. So, when the feeds go down at 3pm on the west coast and 6pm on the east coast... You will be getting programming this season instead of just a screen saver...

You are correct! You will get to see a very loosely put together show of sorts that I will be doing live from the Cat Club on Sunset Blvd, here in Hollywood. I will have guests, friends and random people on the show with me talking about the previous week on Big Brother. Talking about everything, nothing will be censored... My guests, well most of them, you will recognize, some you will want to ****, some you will want to punch. It is not going to be all past houseguests, it will be more people that are just big fans of the show and have some type of celeb status or another. You will have to just check it out.

I will let you know what time exactly it will go on Real Player every week, when I figure out what time would be best. But I am thinking 4pm pacific, 7pm eastern. Then the live eviction show comes on at 8pm.

THE FIRST TWO SHOWS WILL BE AVAILIBLE TO EVERYONE!
You will not have to be signed up for Super Pass for the first two shows of the season. But after that, yep.... you need to be getting the feeds in order to see me do this trainwreck in the making that I am gonna call a show.
It should all get rolling about the 16th of July.

ShowTime
I came very very close to getting my own ShowTime show that would have either preceded or followed BBAD. Didn't happen this season, but a lot of people took notice at how willing ShowTime was to jump into bed with me. But things out of my control made the bottom fall out of the deal... It's too bad, it would have been a blast to do.

So, starting next month watch me on Real Player on Wed. tba and House Calls on Thursday at Noon (new time)

For everyone writing saying they have tickets to the live eviction shows now that they are having an audience for those. All of you who have been asking if I will be there for those shows.... I was told that there will be no past House Guests in the audience for those shows. They want them to be different than the finale show. Which I totally understand. So, no I will not be at those shows, sorry.

Oh, and just so you are jealous.... I will be up at the Playboy Mansion for the 4th of July

And did I say that Eric and Jessica broke up?

Hello Everyone!  I've been a long time lurker and finally decided to join!  Can hardly wait for BB10 to start and just hoping it's a better group this time around.  Will have to agree with Betty that I feel like I know you all.  I am considering getting the feeds and trying to help out since I live in the Phoenix area and with the temps well over 110 lately, there isn't anything better to do!

Waiting to hear about Mama and the baby too!

Allison Grodner reveals season secrets to WLBB
Posted by Matt Maynard
July 1, 2008 (1 hour ago)

WeLoveBigBrother.com spoke exclusively to BB’s Executive Producer Allison Grodner Tuesday about the brand new season.

While the houseguests may not be in the house yet, Grodner said the work is well underway.

“We’re getting closer and closer to the big move in day,” she said. “We’ve got the house still getting fixed. I’m watching it right now as we’ve got a cleaning crew in there right now and we’re making it all nice and pretty for the group.”

Grodner revealed when this group of 13 moves in, they will be complete strangers.

“As far as the cast is concerned,” she said, “rest assured they are all strangers.”

They also will be diverse in their backgrounds, points of view and ages.

“We have a wide range of ages this year,” she said. “There’s young, there’s old, there’s in between, there’s parents, there’s students, there’s people with white collar jobs, blue collar jobs. It’s all very different. We’ve got a lot of very specific types of people in this house, and people who have very extreme points of view than maybe we’ve had in the past.”

She said the house will also reflect this diversity.

“This year [the house] reflects the cast in all the different places and eras they come from,” she said. “It’s a very different house, it’s not our winter house. This is a very different thing and it goes with the cast.”

Grodner also confirmed live audiences will return to the show in a different way, as producers wanted to carefully include some successful elements from the show’s past.

“[We wanted to take] the original concept of the show of strangers moving into a house — with diverse points of view, coming from all places, all different ages, all different walks of life — and try to put that back into play for this special Big Brother 10 season,” she said.

Don’t forget about the twist! Grodner explained it will play out from day one.

“The game starts before these people even enter the house,” she hinted. “Expect the unexpected. Expect a completely different Big Brother from what you’ve seen this past year.”

Grodner has been a part of Big Brother since Season 2.

Yeah....I'm not believing the rumors either.  For BB9, the Early Show announced the cast 6 days before the premiere.  Tomorrow will make it 11 days til the premiere.  And TV Guide released the cast the day before TES.  Maybe we'll get lucky and get house photos, or official word on the twist.

I can see the HG being released earlier this year because we know they are obviously sequestered already because Allison wouldn't talk about anything unless the contestants were sequestered.

EXACTLY! I'm so excited to find out who the houseguests are! I know Michael wants pretty girls and I want hunky guys! hehehehe

These "tid-bits" come from the same source who correctly gives out information prior to every start of the season... he or she gave away the AP twist, the house desgin for BB9, the couple twist for BB9, etc....before it was known for public.

More to come on Friday, but for now here is a little bit of teasers: (which is just 100% confirmation of the following facts that have been pretty much assumed anyways)

Quote
One little tidbit is confirmation that a) no one knows each other, b) it is polar opposites, c) the age range is staggering, and d) there are 13 HG.

Does anyone else get the feeling that they are setting up the HG's for huge confrontations? Massively different beliefs and values? Big age differences? Polar opposites? I think we are going to have some fireworks here!

I keep reading elsewhere as far as the age ranges, the youngest is a barely legal (21) and the oldest one officially a senior citizen (60's)

That would make the physical competitions interesting, wouldn't it?

That's what I'm hearing as well Will -- I think it will make it really interesting to see how the house aligns with the polar opposites AND the age difference..

man, I want to go on this show so bad!  :'(

CBS' 'Big Brother' has a senior moment
Jul 7, 2008, 05:13 PM | by Lynette Rice

Categories: TV Biz

For the love of Bengay, it looks like Big Brother will finally add a mature player (we're talking septuagenarian here, people) to the cast when the show returns to CBS this Sunday. CBS is expected to reveal the entire cast tomorrow morning on The Early Show, but EW.com has already learned that a 75-year-old man (and ardent fan of the franchise) will be among the players vying for the $500,000 cash prize this summer. For a show that typically features 20-something hotties with gorgeous bodies, recruiting a great grandfather is a (welcome) first for the show.

"It’s the most diverse cast we’ve ever had in terms of ages, backgrounds, points of view, and personalities," executive producer Allison Grodner says of the next installment. "Big Brother 9 involved couples, singles, and soul mates who were young, single, impulsive, and ready to party. We do a 180 with Big Brother 10. This summer you’re going to find a 22-year-old body builder and a 75-year-old great grandpa in the house, and everyone else in between. We’ve had diversity of age in past, but he's clearly the oldest contestant we’ve ever had."

For more from our chat with Grodner, check back with EW.com on Friday.

O.K., who is E.D.?

I'm back -- I can't believe I'm actually back before the season even starts!

I taped a bunch of the last one, SHOWTIME after dark for reference, with the idea of putting together a comic-strip/graphic novel sort of satire, picturing repeated refrains "I'm a single mom." "Win this for me" and so on, in various settings and situations; contradictions; mad ramblings ("Eight!  There are eight plates, eight cups, eight glasses, eight forks, eight . . . ." set up because there were eight houseguests; nonetheless, the G-nat somehow got "Evil Dick" out of all that).

Hoping that this season will have more real people, not people who auditioned because their agent told them to.  The interim season guests were too self-aware.

More Chicken George and the girl who kept changing her hair.

. . . and I remember Eric; I don't remember Jessica.

It's funny how fast reality stars fade from memory -- the old 15 minutes of fame, fame being what is left after the film is no longer showing.

 :waves:

I have their names memorized already, matching their faces. I'm ready for Sunday.

The houseguests should be entering the house this afternoon at approximately 5:30pm BB time and we should expect the group picture taken at either the hot tub or pool to be released tomorrow evening as that is always taken on the first night in the BB house.

I think this is an impressive looking cast so I'm really hopeful that it will be a good season. Based on the wide range of ages and their bios, I think we will see lots of conflicts and clashes of the variety of personalities.

BRING IT ON, BIG BROTHER 10! Don't disappoint us this time.......

Whoever made that spelled Brian's name wrong, it's with an I , not a Y

Ollie's name is Bryan but because of the other Brian, they will go by his last name.

I wonder why Memphis is his nickname, must be for some reason as his real name is Robert.

After hearing for a while that there would be two gay guys, it looks like Steven is the only one.

I have no favorite yet after seeing the pictures and bios, I guess I will have one after seeing them in action on After Dark.

Don't ask me why I think this, but do any of you think there is a chance that Ollie might be gay too?  Especially since they have led us to believe there would be 2 gay guys?  Maybe I am just reaching.

And thanks for the pics with the names attached.  Going to have to study that for a while and try to remember them all.  I am just happy they are at least a little older, not the really young 20 somethings.  There are two houseguests that have the same birth dates at my kids, so that stuck out to me.

I am so excited for this to get going!

I Got 'Slop' Happy In The 'Big Brother 10' House
SLIDESHOW: 8 Journalists Move Into the 'Big Brother 10' House
 Reporting
Jenn McBride STUDIO CITY Those who know me best know that I eat like a guy. Maybe even two guys put together. My friend, Alan, brings sinfully delicious apple fritters to work every few weeks and I often eat two of them. With my lunch. Heck, I even had a piece of Fisher's doggie Birthday cake last month. Suffice it to say, there isn't much I won't eat. But there is one thing I will never, ever eat again: SLOP.

The only thing worse than eating slop is eating warm slop, and only that, on the hottest day of the year. It was 112 degrees when I, along with seven other journalists, entered the Big Brother 10 house for 12 grueling hours of games, backstabbing and the most unappetizing menu known to mankind. (Or dogs for that matter. For the record, Fisher, your cake was MUCH better.) From the Head of Household (HoH) and Power of Veto (PoV) competitions to alliances and even a shocking eviction, we did it all.

Although I work just yards from the house on the CBS lot in Studio City, they were kind enough to take us over to the set on golf carts. During that short ride, I met two other contestants, Brian Gianelli, a producer for of Yahoo! TV, and Kyle Buchanan of The Advocate. All slightly nervous and unsure of what was to come, we immediately established the "golf cart alliance" or GCA. Little did we know, 11 hours later, one of us would betray another, who was ultimately evicted.

We met up with the other five contestants, were gratefully assured the bathroom cameras would be turned off during press day, and all entered the house. As great as it looks on camera, the set is very much like a bunker and is not as comfortable or inviting in person. An abundance of double-sided mirrors, a dark screen shutting out light from the backyard during lockdowns, and the noise of cameras shifting to capture your every move all make for a surprisingly cold environment.

But cold certainly wasn't a word we used very often, if at all, that day. The HoH competition was absolutely brutal in the sweltering heat. Even more awful was being eliminated on the first majority rules question. Entertainment Tonight host and correspondent Kevin Frazier was crowned HoH and immediately forced to put half the house on slop. As previously stated, yours truly was subjected to such misery. The other "sloppies" included Kyle, press day bad boy Reagan Alexander of People, and in a surprise move, Kevin humbly jumped on the bandwagon. He's clearly crazy. (Please note the green HoH robe he wore for the ENTIRE day.)

Kyle was the first to dive into the cauldron of warm goo that Big Brother kindly left on the table for us. "It tastes like warm oatmeal mixed with clay," he muttered, clearly wishing he had a spittoon in hand. I was next. Kyle's description could not have been more accurate. But the worst thing about slop is that it gets more disgusting with every bite. You almost think you can stomach it at first, but the fact that it tastes like wet concrete mixed with Play-Doh makes it impossible to bear. The color is equally unappetizing: it looks like a cross between the greenish slime from Nickelodeon's You Can't Do That On Television and guacamole. In my desperation, I tried to make cookies for the four of us, but the slop just wouldn't bake. It also hardened after being left on the counter for hours. All of this made me wish I would have eaten more Krispy Kreme donuts when they were provided for us hours before. Kyle conceded to eat brown sugar, soy sauce and ketchup for lunch. Kevin just didn't eat. Reagan licked dabs of hot sauce and in his anger, tore apart Mike and Ike candies and stuck them on Kevin's picture, making a handsome headshot look like a frightening 3D version of Ronald McDonald. It's easy to see why Kevin later nominated him for eviction.

As bad as slop was, it's even more painful to see my experience on video. Twelve hours in the house and we were all given just 19 minutes of footage. A decent chunk of that footage includes me reading the nutritional information for slop. And I look BRILLIANT. (Note: The people who look stupid on reality TV shows may have only acted dumb (or in my case, completely clueless) for one minute during filming and that's all you see (unless they really are THAT stupid like The Hills' Heidi and Spencer).

After my horrendous lunch, TV Guide senior correspondent Zoe Alexander Levin and I suffered a humiliating loss in the PoV contest. She just couldn't get her footing while carrying 20 + cups of orange-colored water across a balance beam. Can you blame her? But we were happy to see that Gretchen Massey, who hosts House Calls on CBS.com, and Brian had won. Brian took a $500 prize and Gretchen, who was on the block as a pawn to help evict house outcast Reagan, took the Golden PoV. Gretchen shockingly chose to save Reagan and Kevin then put Brian on the block. It was at this time that the GCA had a special meeting in which Brian wanted to affirm our support for him. Kyle pledged his loyalty, provided Brian wear a pink poodle cape, which was really a hideous comforter from one of the bedrooms. I, too, vowed to support Brian. But shortly after our meeting, TV Week columnist Joe Adalian informed me that Brian had suggested nominating me for eviction earlier in the day. Feeling betrayed, I cast my vote to evict Brian in the diary room. Only one person voted to evict Gretchen (Kyle stuck with his poodle cape promise) and Brian was evicted. I was later informed that he never said any such thing to Joe and the two of them were still disputing this as we left the lot. Someone better fess up!

When I finally in got back to my car that night, I felt as if I'd pulled into the parking structure a lifetime ago. I would not survive an entire season in that house, especially not without my husband. I have a new respect for Big Brother contestants and will now pray daily for those who are forced to endure slop for an extended period of time. I am quite glad to back on my side of the CBS lot, at CBS 2 /KCAL 9, where I'm allowed to read the news, surf the Internet and eat whatever I want -- even if it's dog cake.

Meet the 'Big Brother 10' cast

STUDIO CITY, Calif. — "Big Brother 10" is returning to its roots.

The claustrophobic CBS reality show is sealing 13 actual strangers - no ex lovers, secret twin partners or long-lost siblings this time - inside a makeshift house on a Studio City soundstage for the chance to be the last houseguest standing and take home the $500,000 grand prize.

"There's somebody for everyone in this cast," executive producer Allison Grodner recently told The Associated Press at CBS Radford Studios. "It's going to be interesting to see people that come from such opposite worlds living together, which has always been a part of this show, but this season, we really do have our most diverse group ever."

The contestants - which will include a gay bull rider, a Hooters waitress, a professional bodybuilder and a 75-year-old former Marine - will spend the summer competing in challenges and evicting each other while being monitored by over 50 cameras. It's the first time since the show's third season that the houseguests are all strangers.

"When approaching this season, we wanted to look at what made this spark and last for 10 seasons," said Grodner, who's worked on "Big Brother" since the second season. "Every season had its unique twist. I think, in a way, going back to basics and having the cast be all strangers is part of the twist of '10.' Of course, there will be more."

In last season's first-ever winter edition of "Big Brother," which was quickly put into production because of the writers strike, contestants were partnered with each other and evicted as pairs for the first four weeks of competition. Grodner said a new "Big Brother 10" gameplay twist would be introduced during the premiere episode on July 13.

"It's really a power-play," teased Grodner. "The game will actually start before they enter the house."

In recent seasons, contestants have come under fire outside the house for controversial remarks made inside the house. During the eighth season, Amber Siyavus said that Jewish people tend to be "really money-hungry" and "selfish." Last season's winner Adam Jasinski was fired by a nonprofit autism organization because he used the word "retards."

"Those types of comments are not something we want to happen," said Grodner. "It's a live show. It's not censored on the Internet. These are real people. We aren't telling them what to say, but we're not telling them what not to say either. Things do happen. We, of course, can choose what we put in the show, and we do so carefully."

This season's contestants seem to be more aware of the repercussions of their actions from the outset. Before meeting their competitors or entering the house, the "Big Brother 10" cast was individually interviewed by the AP while they were voluntarily sequestered - no television, newspapers or telephones - from the outside world in a Studio City hotel.

"If you make a mistake and say the wrong things, you may offend people and be known for that forever," said Steven Daigle, a 35-year-old geographic consultant and gay rodeo competitor from Dallas. "People make mistakes. If I do make a mistake, I hope I can learn from it and know that was some part of my life that I was ignorant or uneducated about."

The rooms inside the "Big Brother" house this season will be themed to different decades. The kitchen, for example, resembles a '50s diner while one of the bedrooms is filled with '70s-inspired furnishings. The timeliness extends to this season's crop of contestants. At 75, Gerry MacDonald will be the oldest "Big Brother" houseguest ever.

"Age does not bother me," MacDonald told the AP. "I hope it doesn't bother them."

Libra Thompson, a married 31-year-old human resources representative from Spring, Texas, left behind her husband and three children - including 4-month-old twins - to participate in "Big Brother 10." During production, Thompson and the other "Big Brother" contestants are prohibited from communicating with the outside world.

"It's better for me that they're younger," said Thompson of her newborns. "At four months old, they're not going to remember much. It's probably going to be a little bit more difficult for my 4-year-old. However, I'm going to stay focused and remember the reason I'm here, and that's the cash. That will help me."

Prize money talks.

"I'm motivated because I'm a big fan of the show, but I'm more motivated that I have a chance to win $500,000," said Angie Swindell, a 29-year-old pharmaceutical sales representative from Orlando, Fla. "I just have to keep telling myself that if I start feeling all queasy about the 24-7 thing, there's an end to the means."

April Dowling, a 30-year-old car dealership finance manager from Higley, Ariz., said she doesn't think the "Big Brother" experience will be any more difficult than the time she had to spend 15 days in a "tent city" jail for drunk-driving charges. She also believes living in the house may remedy some of her obsessive-compulsive behaviors.

"I have seen a therapist," said Dowling. "They tried to put me on anti-anxiety medication, but I'm not big on prescription medication. I just don't like to take it. I'm actually hoping the 'Big Brother' experience will be therapeutic. My life will not end if the green beans aren't behind the corn in the pantry."

The 13 contestants of "Big Brother 10" are:

- Michelle Costa, 28, real estate agent from Cumberland, R.I.

- Steven Daigle, 35, geographic consultant from Dallas

- April Dowling, 30, finance manager from Higley, Ariz.

- Robert "Memphis" Garrett, 25, mixologist and party planner from Los Angeles

- Dan Gheesling, 24, high school teacher from Dearborn, Mich.

- Jessie Godderz, 22, bodybuilder from Huntington Beach, Calif.

- Brian Hart, 27, telecommunication account manager from San Francisco

- Gerry MacDonald, 75, retired marketing executive from Magnolia, Texas

- Renny Martyn, 53, hair salon owner from Metairie, La.

- Bryan Ollie, 27, marketing sales representative from Bloomington, Minn.

- Keesha Smith, 29, waitress from Burbank, Calif.

- Angie Swindell, 29, pharmaceutical sales representative from Orlando, Fla.

- Libra Thompson, 31, human resources representative from Spring, Texas

Big Brother 10’s Gimmick Is Diversity
8-Jul-2008
Written by: C.J. Trent

The new season’s contestants are both diverse and total strangers to each other.

The entertaining, if annoying, CBS reality show, Big Brother, is going “old school” in its latest season. Unlike other seasons where contestants had pre-existing relationships with each other, Season 10 of the reality hit features diverse strangers, according to AP. Among the 13 contestants are a Hooters waitress, a geriatric Marine and a gay bull-rider.

AP quotes executive producer Allison Grodner as saying, “When approaching this season, we wanted to look at what made this spark and last for 10 seasons. Every season had its unique twist. I think, in a way, going back to basics and having the cast be all strangers is part of the twist of 10. Of course, there will be more.”

A total of 50 cameras monitor the 13 strangers as they complete weekly challenges and evict contestants. The winner receives $500,000.

The reality show has had its share of controversies in the past, particularly with housemates using racial epithets and offensive terms. With the new selection of diverse contestants, perhaps the new season will be more exciting than previous seasons.

As Grodner said, “It's going to be interesting to see people that come from such opposite worlds living together, which has always been a part of this show, but this season, we really do have our most diverse group ever.”

Julie Chen Returns As Host

CBS Unveils The Lucky 13 New Houseguests Ranging in Age from 22 to 75

CBS announced today the identities of the 13 Houseguests who will compete in BIG BROTHER 10.  This season will feature a back-to-basics approach, kicking off with no casting twists and a return to the original format that has made BIG BROTHER one of the most popular summer series on television.

(http://i38.[banned image hosting site].com/2guxtaw.jpg)

"To celebrate 10 seasons of BIG BROTHER we are going 'old school' and returning to the original concept for the show - A group of strangers living together in a house and battling it out for half a million dollars.   All 13 Houseguests have no prior relationship - they are not exes, nor secret couples," said executive producer Allison Grodner.  "We are also excited to have the most diverse group we have ever assembled.   They range in age from 22 to 75, come from all walks of life, and have distinct points of view.  This should make for an unforgettable BIG BROTHER summer."

BIG BROTHER 10 will debut Sunday, July 13 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.  Following the premiere, BIG BROTHER 10 will be broadcast three nights weekly, on Sundays (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT), Tuesdays (9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT) and the live eviction show, hosted by Julie Chen, Wednesdays (8:00-9:00 PM, live ET/delayed PT).

BIG BROTHER follows a group of people living together in a house outfitted with dozens of cameras and microphones recording their every move 24 hours a day.  One by one, the Houseguests will vote each other out of the house.  At the end of three months, the last remaining Houseguest will receive the Grand Prize of $500,000.

This season, Houseguests will move into a brand new, all-American home with a traditional look, with a rocking chair on the front porch, Victorian stenciled windows and a lush flower garden.  Like the contestants who will inhabit it, each room has a different style and flair, including a groovy "Road to Woodstock" bedroom, a rad '80s "Punk Room" and a classic retro 1950s style kitchen.  Additionally, the house comes equipped with a Jacuzzi and swimming pool in the backyard.

More shots of the house -- I think this is newer than the Julie house tour because some of the furniture in these pictures are different then the furniture in the Julie video (like the chairs in the HOH):

TV Guide Ventures Inside the Big Brother 10 House
by Zoe Alexander

What happens when eight journalists are picked to live in a house of 12 hours with no cell phones, Blackberries or contact with their news desks? Well, let me give you a hint — it wasn't pretty!
I'm not what you would consider a homebody. However, I spend my life at my computer banging out copy for editorial deadlines. So when I have free time, I'm not fond of spending it in close quarters with random people.

So why in the world I offered to spend twelve hours locked in a house with eight strangers for 12 hours on the set of CBS's reality game show Big Brother where contestants from all walks of life go head to head through psychologically grueling and sometimes physically demanding challenges to battle for the title of "Head of Household" is beyond me. Especially since I, unlike the real contestants, wasn't competing for the $500,000 prize.  I must have been having a frivolous moment. The last time I had one of those I was in Las Vegas, but I digress…

Meeting My Housemates

Housemates are like Christmas presents when you were a kid. The first moment you meet them, you are so excited but by the end of the day, you're sick of playing with them.

Unlike real BB contestants we actually got to meet each other before we walked into the house. So right there in a tiny little room I met my new best friends for the day. They were Entertainment Tonight reporter Kevin Frazier, Yahoo TV blogger Brian Gianelli, People reporter Reagan Alexander, TVWeek.com’s Joe Adalian, The Advocate's Kyle Buchanan, Gretchen Massey from 97.1 KLSX radio and Jennifer McBride from CBS2 in L.A.

I thought, 'oh man, if something embarrassing happens in the house, everyone in the English-speaking world will be able to see, hear, and read about it so I better be on my best behavior.' But first I needed a cup of coffee. Coincidentally, so did Gretchen. So right there over a cup of coffee before we even set foot in the house and while BB minions searched our belongings, it happened.

Gretchen and I formed our first alliance. In BB-speak, an alliance is when you and another player basically decide you are going to have each other's back — at least until you get rid of everyone in the house and it's just the two of you, then you pretty much try to throw your former friend under the bus to win the money.  Since there was no money involved, I was hoping we would still like each other by the end of the day.  Gretchen was a comedian with a raunchy sense of humor and was a newlywed like me, so we had a lot in common.  I felt a bit relieved.  Then one by one, we entered THE HOUSE.

Game On

The Season 10 house is a beautifully appointed soundstage that is built to resemble a house.  This house had a huge '50s-style diner as the kitchen, a hippie bedroom (where I plopped my stuff even though I'm not a crunchy-granola type at all) and another bedroom  that looks like Laura Ingalls Wilder might have lived there.  Like Las Vegas casinos, there are no windows in the house. One thing I learned quickly is that people fall into stereotypes immediately. Reagan from People was branded the bad boy the moment he stepped into the house because he rides a motorcycle and has tattoos, plus he tried to sneak a camera into the house. Once everyone learned that, like lemmings we turned on him. Why? I’m not really sure. I think it was the audacity of it all that bothered us. So from that point on, the rest of us decided Reagan was going down. (We got into it immediately).

The first challenge was trivia and the winner got to be Head of Household, which is basically "the boss". Kevin and I formed an alliance during that game because we "helped" each other answer the questions. (If I tell you how exactly we did that, I'd have to kill you.) Kevin ended up winning the title of "Head of Household", which was fabulous because his first order of business was to put half the house on "slop" and I knew Kevin would have my back and not make me eat slop since we formed an alliance.  Slop is a green-hued oatmeal product created by BB producers that tastes like hell but is supposedly full of nutrients and fiber. No one had eaten breakfast, so when Kevin put Reagan, Jennifer, Kyle — and in a shocking turn of events — himself on slop, I felt terrible but that didn't stop me from getting my grub on. As we all know, when people are hungry things turn ugly.

So by mid-afternoon, between everyone having to ask Big Brother for permission to do everything and being locked in the house with nothing to do but talk to each other, the slop-eaters were getting pretty testy. King of the slop eaters, Kevin, snapped out of nowhere and went off on Gretchen. Now Gretchen is from Texas and I know better than to mess with anyone from Texas so I stayed out of it. Plus, Kevin was Head of Household and just like folks from Texas, you don't mess with the HOH. Besides, we had already decided that Reagan would be the one we voted out at the end of the day but the best laid plans…well you know.

By the end of the day, there were alliances within alliances and no one really knew who their allies were. It became stressful, so I decided rather than stir the pot, I'd cook dinner. We were given ingredients to make pasta and the smell of pasta sauce simmering on the stove set off the slop eaters since they couldn't have any. Right when I thought poor Jenn McBride, a tall blonde from my hometown of Laguna was going to break, Big Brother announced a challenge and the winning team would get $500. The challenge was to cross a balance beam holding glasses full of liquid and to stack as many without spilling. Now, Jenn and I are both former gymnasts but thanks to the fact that I haven't touched a balance beam in 15 years, we were destroyed by the fancy footwork of Gretchen and Brian. I felt bad because she really wanted the money. Luckily, she didn’t have a chance to focus on our trouncing because we had the elimination coming up and she was really focused on not getting eliminated.

In a twist, Gretchen ended up trading her half of the winnings for the opportunity to choose who would be spared from elimination. Gretchen spared Reagan for some reason. Maybe a secret alliance? Who knows. After much back-stabbing and attempts to throw each other under the bus, the grand plan of eliminating Reagan was foiled. Brian, dear sweet Brian, who didn’t do anything to anyone, ended up being the sacrificial lamb (Hey, at least he won $500!).

In the end, I felt that playing BB is kind of like hot dogs. If you like hot dogs, you probably don’t want to know how hot dogs are made

Just read that the BB house does not have a microwave oven this season since the kitchen is decorated from the 50's. I can't imagine not having one! I would go bonkers since I totally rely on the microwave, lol!

'Big Brother' exec producer talks season 10
Jul 10, 2008, 04:46 PM | by Lynette Rice

Categories: TV Biz

We learned this week that Big Brother 10 boasts the oldest cast ever (a 75-year-old great grandpa and a 53-year-old beauty salon owner!). But what is really in store for this crack-brained group of players? Well, for one thing, BB Executive Producer Allison Grodner says the show (still hosted by Julie Chen, pictured) is celebrating the franchise's 10th anniversary by going old school with the format (translation: no more secret couples).

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: Because it’s the 10th season, do you feel like you had to do something bigger and better?
ALLISON GRODNER: We’re going back to the original format: putting a cast of strangers in the house who wouldn’t normally cross each other’s paths. This summer you’re going to find a 22-year-old body builder and a 75-year-old great grandpa in the house, and then everything else in between. We’ve had diversity of age in past, but this is clearly the biggest gap, and the grandpa is the oldest contestant we’ve ever had. It’ll be fascinating to watch the generational thing in the house.

There’s nothing old school about America’s Player. Is that twist out this summer?
Casting twists are off the table, but I’m not going to say anything else at this time. You have to keep the game fresh. I think that’s important. These players are die-hard fans so you have to keep them on their toes, as well as the viewers.

A lot of people believed that Adam Jasinski –- the winner of Big Brother 9 -- threw one of the stages of that final HOH [Head of Household] competition. Do you believe that’s true?
He says he didn’t. I believe he threw the final stage of the HOH competition -– and it was a very smart move to do –- so Ryan would win and he therefore wouldn’t have to vote out Sheila. Adam was a lot smarter than he appeared. He made a big point during the jury deliberation of denying that. It was a really bright move, and it was also a bright move to lie about it.

Who did you think was going to win?
Ryan played the better game, but Adam had the gift of gab. Sometimes it comes down to that. Adam did what was important to Big Brother; you’ve got to make the jury like you. We’ll do an update this summer and check in on Adam to see if he did what he said he was going to do: donate that money (to a charity for children).

NEXT: "I think it’s possible you’ll see some food restrictions being mixed up this summer."

Whatever happened to Neil, the other gay man who abruptly left the show early in the season? Fans never really got a satisfying answer explaining his departure.
The answer remains the same: a family emergency and he has remained private about the details, so we will respect that as well.

So what was your verdict on BB9 –- success or failure?
I feel like Big Brother is a great summer show, and summer is where it belongs. I’ve always felt that way. it should air once a year. It was tough to put on a winter season, but if you look at the ratings, if you look at the DVR usage, we really weren’t that far off from where we normally are. I know we still had our core fan base.  :groan:

At the end of the winter edition, we asked EW.com readers to submit suggestions on how to improve the show, so I wanted to run a few of them by you. Here’s one from a poster named Andy: "Get rid of the food competitions. They're pointless. Instead, they need to do luxury competitions in which winners get a prize, but the losers get some kind of punishment. This would create more chaos in the house than not being able to eat regular food for a few days."
Food competitions give us a time to be silly! They lend comedy. But I also think the house guests should have to work for something since they aren’t growing vegetables or slaughtering chickens in the backyard. The idea that their food is at stake becomes a huge deal in this house. Being on slop or having a food restriction causes a lot of drama.

Will you ever allow the Power of Veto winner to select the replacement nominee?
Head of Household is what this show is about. If you take the power away from HOH, you make it less special. It just wouldn’t be fair. Winning HOH has to be the biggest thing of each week. If you mess with that person’s nominees, you cut their power in half.

Would you ever consider putting cameras in the jury house?
Big Brother operates out of an elaborately put-together sound stage. It took a long time for our engineers to put together all those cameras. To do that to an average house would mean a whole other set and a huge budget.

Many EW.com readers think you should take the Bible out of the house.
It provides good talking points! It’s given us interesting story to follow. But honestly, we aren’t putting a Bible in the house. The houseguests are allowed to bring in religious readings.

Is it time to get rid of the slop?
No one ever said it can’t happen. I think it’s possible you’ll see some food restrictions being mixed up this summer. The idea of unexpected food restrictions can add some fun to the food competitions.

Have you considered forcing the house guests to use the POV?
I go back and forth on that. I would be concerned if all of a sudden the POV competition would become something people don’t want to win. People wouldn’t want to be put in the spotlight. You’re also fighting for your own safety in the POV competition -- the idea that you won’t be placed on the block. And you’re fighting for the power to make that choice. That’s what we’ve always found so interesting about the veto: not using it can be just as powerful as using it. I’d hate to force someone to do it. As producers, we want to keep our hands off of things. We want to make sure the people in the house get to make as many decisions as possible.

One EW.com reader named Angie suggested that you finally do away with the scripted moments like, say, when the HOH looks at the photo wall and decides who to nominate.
There’s tradition, there’s routine, there’s a ceremony that goes with a few different things in the BB house. They give us a sense of structure and a place to build drama. It’s really about storytelling. BB has been going for 10 [seasons]. We have a format that we like and there are reasons for everything we do.

Big Brother doesn’t have an order beyond this summer, right? Will there be an 11th season?
It’s always been the case with BB that we don’t learn about the following year until after we just finished one. It’s amazing we’ve gone this far. But it’s gone this far because at its core, the basic idea of people in a bubble and the multimedia elements that go with it are still so fresh and exciting. It can continue to grow and evolve as long as we continue to put amazing personalities in that house. So why not?

Julie keeps saying the twist is that there is NO twist, but Allison Grodner keeps saying that there is obviously going to be "more" and that she can't say to much right now.

I'm thinking Julie is referring to the fact that for once there are NO casting twists, but there will obviously be some new elements to the game.

I've noticed on many websites that many people are in an uproar about the memory wall and it has fourteen squares and most people think there is a 14th houseguest. I saw the picture of the memory wall and wonder what they will do with the extra square if there is only 13 houseguests. Maybe put a BB10 logo on it? What do you guys think?

that is not the memory wall that will be used for BB10 -- if you look carefully the house was not complete yet during all of the house tours conducted by julie.

Actually, if you think carefully, you will realize that last season there were not 14 houseguests, there were 16, so why would there be a memory wall with only 14 pictures if that was something they havent gotten around to replacing?   :res:

Obviously the house tour with Julie was before the 7 media people in this video moved in http://www.cbs2.com/video/?id=71145@kcbs.dayport.com
The floors are not "blue" yet and note 8 frames on the wall, so see, they are easily changed.
And yes, we go through this every season

Um, if my memory is correct the BB9 memory wall only had fourteen photos due to the fact that both Sharon and Jacob were evicted right away. Once Neil disappeared and Sharon replaced him her photo took his photo's place on the memory wall.

Here's a quote from Allison Grodner from a magazine called "Watch" or something like that.

Quote
"'Big Brother' producers still have some secrets they're keeping and surprises they're going to spring on future unsuspecting Houseguests. 'There's a secret room that nobody knows about,' Grodner says. 'We've never used it. We don't know what we're going to do with it. Yet.' "

An article from cbs2.com

The BB10 Houseguests: By The Numbers
LOS ANGELES (CBS) ― And you thought the cast of "Big Brother 9" had some interesting people in it?

The cast of "Big Brother 10" features a woman who gave birth to twins 5-months ago -- one white and one black.

For sheer eye candy, there is a little sumthim' sumthim' for everyone: There is a Hooters waitress and a professional male bodybuilder who will whip off his shirt at every opportunity.

There's someone most proud of being "the female Guinness chugging-champion" at her local bar.

And do you want a match made in "Big Brother" heaven? The son of a preacher who recently lost his virginity -- and he says he is making up for lost time. There's the girl with OCD who says she can't sleep at night if bottles in the fridge aren't lined up just right. Hmmm. And she says one of her favorite activities is sex. Ollie meet April.

And let's not leave out the arch conservative 24-year-old Catholic High School teacher who says he would have left the country if Hillary Clinton had become president. Dan, meet Libra, the ultra-liberal black woman and unabashed Obama supporter! (Won't THIS duo be fun.)

And, for good measure, you'll meet a 75-year-old man who likes to show off his guns at every opportunity.

Batton down the hatches, TV watchers...it's going to be a bumpy night!

And the producers of the hit reality show "Big Brother" wouldn't have it any other way.

Here, a look at your soon-to-be favorite and not-so-favorite houseguests who make up the cast of "Big Brother 10" by the numbers.

YOUNGEST HOUSEGUEST: 24 years old
OLDEST HOUSEGUEST: 75 years old
AVERAGE AGE: 33.4615 years old

HOUSEGUESTS IN THEIR 20s: 8
HOUSEGUESTS IN THEIR 30s: 3
HOUSEGUESTS IN THEIR 40s: 0
HOUSEGUESTS IN THEIR 50s: 1
HOUSEGUESTS IN THEIR 60s: 0
HOUSEGUESTS IN THEIR 70s: 1
(In the BB9 house, 15 of the 16 were in their 20s. Sheila, at 45, was the lone person who wasn't 20-something.)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, HOUSEGUESTS! 3 were born in August, 2 were born each in July, March and December. One each was born in April, October, September and May. There were no houseguests born in January, February, June or November. (In BB9, none of the houseguests were born in January, February, March or December.)

COLLEGE (Graduated, attending or attended): 10 of the 13

SEXUAL PERSUASION: 12 straight, 1 gay

MARITAL STATUS: 3 married, 1 divorced, 9 single (but one of the houseguests is living with his girlfriend in a committed relationship...and we all know how well THOSE work out on "Big Brother.")

TATTOOS/PIERCINGS: 3 of the 13 have tattoos or piercings. One BB10 houseguest says anyone with a tattoo or a piercing is "a freak." Hey Dan, as long as you aren't judgemental or anything! (Six of the 16 BB9 cast had piercings or tatts.)

CLOSE TO MOM/DAD/KIDS: 11 of the 13 mentioned strong family ties. Libra is very close to her mom but says she only met her dad once...that she can remember.

SAID I OBJECT AT A WEDDING: 1. Michelle objected at her brother's wedding.

OWN PETS: Between them, the 13 have 5 dogs, 3 cats, 1 rabbit, 1 bird and 3 fish. Michelle, who objected at her brother's wedding (see above), is almost single-handedly responsible for the BB10 menagerie. She has 1 dog, 2 cats, the rabbit, the bird and the three fishes.

HAVE SERVED IN THE MILITARY (or was an Army Brat): 3

SAY THEY ARE VERY RELIGIOUS OR DEVOUT: 3 of the 13

MEMBERS OF PETA: 1. And, no, it's not the pet-lover Michelle. The PETA member is Keesha, the Hooters girl.

James, BB6/7, Dick, Daniele, Joe, BB8, & Chelsia, Sheila, BB9 among others will be united tomorrow or should I say, later tonight for the Big Brother 10 premiere party somewhere in LA

Josh is hosting a BB10 premiere party at JR's Bar & Grille in Dallas. (and probably rooting for Steven)

We are just a tad bit over 18 hours away from the premiere show on CBS! Bring it on, baby! So ready for the drama and conflicts and blowups among houseguests!

Story on Ollie in the Des Moines Register:

Quote
The Loop: Ex-Cyclone back joins Big Brother 10

Who is the new cast member on the CBS show "Big Brother 10"?

It's Bryan Ollie, the former Iowa State football player from West Des Moines.

Ollie, according to CBS, lives in Minneapolis and works as a marketing sales representative. The show's Web site says Ollie "does not drink, smoke or curse; staying true to the values he was raised with as a child."

The show also says Ollie, 27, "describes himself as animated, energetic and good looking. His proudest accomplishment is receiving a full athletic scholarship."

Ollie played defensive back at Iowa State, finishing in 2002.

At West Des Moines Dowling Catholic, he ran for more than 1,300 yards as a running back and finished as a Des Moines Sunday Register second-team pick as a senior in Class 4-A.

There's another Iowan on the show: Jessie Godderz, a 22-year-old body builder, is originally from Rudd.

Stay tuned ...

13 HOUSEGUESTS ENTER THE BIG BROTHER 10 HOUSE -- For The First Time In BIG BROTHER History, The Head of Household Vote Takes Place Prior To Entering The House
BIG BROTHER 10 kicked off the season last night as 13 strangers entered the BIG BROTHER House after they were asked, for the first time in BIG BROTHER history, to choose the Head of Household prior to entering the House or even talking with each other.

The new Houseguests cast their votes via a secret ballot, using only their powers of observation as their guide.  Jerry Mac Donald, the 75-year-old great grandfather, was selected as the first Head of Household of the season.

Once inside the House, after their initial meeting and champagne toast, the Houseguests were asked to compete in a luxury/food competition.  In the competition, 12 of them were split into two teams of six with bodybuilder Jessie volunteering to sit out.  Two classic VW Bugs were suspended upside down over the backyard of the House.  All six members of each team piled into their team's respective car, and were then required to pull the car across the Big Brother "Route 66" highway by a rope to get from side to side.  Each time they reached the end, one member of each team was asked to volunteer to leave the car, which left them out of the competition and no longer eligible to win the luxury prize.  The first team to reach the end with just one remaining Houseguest was declared the winner and won food for the week.  The losing team eats slop for the week.  Memphis won the luxury part of the competition and is the proud owner of a classic car.

Finally, Head of Household Jerry nominated Renny and Jessie for the first eviction of the season.

BIG BROTHER 10 will be broadcast on the CBS Television Network three nights weekly, on Sundays (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT), Tuesdays (9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT) and the live eviction show, hosted by Julie Chen, Wednesdays (8:00-9:00 PM, live ET/delayed PT).

Following are the 13 Houseguests, listed across in alphabetical order, who will compete in BIG BROTHER 10:

Michelle Costa, 28                                                       Steven Daigle, 35
