Title: Things I never want to see on AI ever again
Post by: TexasLady on March 27, 2007, 10:33:38 AM
Things I never want to see on AI ever again.

1: Dedications! Sob sob, I dedicate this to my grandmother who died in 1956, even though I never knew her...  :crybabe:

2: Older and declining singers (I liked her years ago but she's lost it. Cripes, her name escapes me.. this is BAD!!! that woman in the red dress last week who was really pitchy. (Was it only last week? No.. Last week was Brit week...) I learned about pitchy singing from Randy...   Whew, I remember now.. Diana Ross. Also Include Barry Manilow, please don't let him sing this year!!!  :rfth:

3: Somewhere over the rainbow. I never want to hear that song again. Never!

4: Sanjaya or anyone resembling him.  :groan:

What else do we hope to never see (or hear) again?

Songs that should be banned:

Anything from Motown
Whitney Houston specifically "I Have Nothing"
Against All Odds- Phil Collins

I think that if a song has been sung at least three times it should not be sung again.

Also they should ban Gwen Stefani from AI, what the hell are they thinking? I am predicting that tonight's show and theme will be the worst even in AI history possibly on all Idol shows.

I'm sorry but I don't want to hear anyone sing "Don't Speak" or "Hey Baby".

You know what?  I'm OLD and proud of it!!  :jam: Proud that I've been fortunate enough to live this long & accomplish what I have! :yess:

I love soul patrol and yes...i love Taylor Hicks.  :hrt: I LOVE Rod Stewart, Barry Manilow,  Diana Ross, Bette Midler, & many other OLD entertainers.

I see nothing wrong with the OLD peeps being on AI...either as a contestant OR a SPECIALIST in the music arena.  The older entertainers are extremely experienced.  That's why AI features them...to help the contestants learn new techniques, & reinforce what they already know!!  They've been around long enough to KNOW the ropes and are quite qualified to mentor the newbies.

However, I'm sure there are some younger, experienced singers like NSync's Lance, Beyonce, others whom you all know better than me...who would qualify in helping the contestants to enhance their performances just as well as the older folks.

Old folk Ruday, and proud of it!  :jumpy:  :wohoo:

#1. Agree.  It's uneccessary & boring to make dedications to dead relatives.  Possibly they do this b/c they haven'y been fortunate enough to have a living person in their lives whom they can honestly dedicate their song to.  If so, then don't make a dedication.  Just talk about their aspirations and/or goals for being an AI contestant, or talk about another interest they have besides music?  Or dedicate it to some famous person they respect but don't even know?  Heck, dunno...but I agree with you on this one, TL.

#2. Already commented in my post above.

#3.  I personally love Over the Rainbow and think Kat McPhee's rendition is absolutely AWESOME...better than Judy Garland's, in fact.  I get goose bumps hearing Kat sing it.  It's beautiful, IMO!!
I love lots of the older songs and feel the Idols SHOULD sing 'em...for the experience, but to please add their OWN rendition.  Trouble with that is...they better not slaughter it or Simon will give them the first degree!  :groan:  It MUST be done carefully...with finesse and sensitivity to the original artist.  Kat did just that w/ "Rainbow".  She enhanced it beautifully.

#4. Sanjaya. :groan: :o  I just don't understand how he could sing so good in his audition, and make it thru all the preliminary  comps before the voting started.  The Judges REALLY sucked on this decision by sticking their necks out for him...maybe thinking he had more potential.  So, I agree with you here!  Puhleezz...NO more Sanjays.

CeeJ, what do you mean by "no more woman strong type songs"?
Could you rephrase it please? Thanks!  :hugs:

Rudy, when Kat sang Somewhere over the Rainbow the first time I got chills. It was wonderful. But she sang it again towards the end of the competiton, and at the live appearance in Austin, and neither time was she able to match her first performance. I think it is time to retire that song.  :hugs:

Well to each their own. :js: I just re-listened to it and I'm still in awe!  Maybe on stage, in a large auditorium or outdoor amphitheatre, it wouldn't sound as good to me, I don't know...but I've really enjoyed it each time I've heard it. :hearts:
Plus, I love Kat's voice.

In Season 6, Melinda is the only female who sings better than Kat, imo.  Sad that this season has been lacking compared to Seas 6.  (I didn't see Season 1-3, so don't know how they compare.)

I can understand his frustration...except that he's partly to blame that Sanjay is  still there!!  He said Yes to Sanjay in the auditions, & Yes in HW etc... soooooo....IF he doesn't quit, I wish he and the other judges would be a whole lot stricter with the auditions.

I like Simon too, CJ.  Oh he can be smug and insulting at times, but he's honest and NON patronizing...and sometimes really funny!

I've been thinking about it. Perhaps Sanfizzle will jump the shark, thinking that people love the inane things he does like last weeks fauxmo so that he will have to push his outrageous performance up a notch or two.  :snicker:

  Sanfizzle! & fauxmo!  :rotf: :lol3:  You are too funny, TL!!  Love your new & very graphic words!

Sooo...pushing his outrageous performance up a notch or two...
you mean like "giving himself enough rope to hang himself"?  I hadn't thought of it, but that might be the solution.
His outrageousness is giving him LOTS of attention.  If he keeps being outrageous, it might just be the answer to a swift kick in the butt and out the door!!  I wish!!   :snicker:

Thanks Ruday!

But ARGHHHHHHHHH.. the wedding cake mannequin will probably survive yet again.  :groan: :groan: :groan: Even Simon using reverse psychology won't help.
