Katharine McPhee broke her foot backstage at the American Idol 5 finalists tour stop in Charlotte, but performed anyway, and will stay with the tour.
Katharine “tripped backstage before the start of the show at Bobcats Arena in Charlotte, N.C., but went on to perform anyway, singing two songs while wearing slippers,” according to the New York Post. An X-ray revealed she had “a hairline fracture.”
But despite—or perhaps because—Katharine missed the first few weeks of the tour, she will stay with the tour. An RCA spokesperson told the Post, “She’s in discomfort, but she’s fine. She will continue on the tour and is not defaulting.”
The Post doesn’t mention this, but the strangest part of this story to me is that Katharine broke her foot almost exactly one year to the day that Bo Bice broke his foot while performing on the American Idol 4 tour, although he did so onstage, not backstage. He, too, stayed with the tour and kept performing.
