Katharine McPhee’s conspicuous absence from the American Idol 5 tour was blamed on bronchitis and laryngitis, but her reported appearances elsewhere seemed to suggest she was just skipping out.
Now, Katherine tells Access Hollywood that those rumors are untrue. “People said I was lying and I was shooting a movie. They would say ‘She thinks she’s better than ‘American Idol.’ It was all negative stuff and it’s all untrue,” she said.
Katherine says she “had a little bruising to the vocal chords and I had to take time to heal.” Access Hollywood asked if that had anything to do with her former problem with bulmia, and she said, “I spoke with my doctor and he said absolutely not. There has been no damage thus far from the disorder. It’s been a year since my last episode of those things. I’m free and clear of that stuff.”
She’ll return to the tour today, just in time to join the other finalists for a visit to The White House. Perfect timing.
