SO they must go directly Ecuador to Chile--guess I can stop looking at the in between places!

I am going to be in so much trouble! That is the night of my best friend's annual Oscar party (really a big deal) and I have been told in no uncertain terms that I better be there! Wonder if they would notice if I changed the channel for an hour?!  Or brought my laptop? Oh, well, y'all can laugh at the thought of my watching the Oscar's in my sequin's and feather boa!

I wonder why the premiere is only 1 hour? hasn't it always been 2 hours?

Mike I think TAR10 was 90 minutes? TPTB probably don't have to waste 30 minutes this time around because we know he cast which is a good thing I guess?

peach! no way I would give up the Race for the Oscars unless I was invited to attend  !!

Mike--I think I read somewhere that the last 1 hour premiere was TAR 3, but IIRC, some were two hours and some were 90 minutes. One hour doesn't seem enough to introduce them all, get them to the airport, much less get them thru a Detour, a Roadblock, and a Philimination.
But since puddin 's info says second team eliminated the next week, I guess we can say the first episode is not a NEL.

puddin--I might be a former best friend if I don't go! But I have a little hand held TV and I might feel a really long bathroom break coming on at 8PM!
Yeah, I don't mind seeing the highlights of the Oscars, but the whole thing--not so much.

is it possible that the first episode is 90 minutes - 2 hours but the media has failed to report this yet? I doubt it. IT'S SO SOON! I CAN'T WAIT

An interactive HK map here; click "English" at the upper-left and then enter Siu Sai Wan in the search box--or just zoom to the eastern shore of HK island. A sports stadium, some moderately tall buildings, some gardens and a lighthouse, and...that's about it, as far as I can tell.

Should we start a pool to decide when we will see the first TAR All-Star TV promo?

During the Super Bowl on CBS!
Hey gator gets his wish!! and wins the pool!!
..........yadda yadda cut to this part

In addition to paid ad spots, CBS has big plans to promote its own schedule and talent before the game's estimated 95 million viewers.

"We look at it the same way our advertisers do; it's a huge showcase, and we pay close attention to every single second that goes into that game," said CBS marketing prexy George Schweitzer.

The network won't divulge its exact promotion plans, but the Monday premiere of the comedy "Rules of Engagement" will get special attention, as will the premiere of "Survivor" on Feb. 8. Also getting a promotional bump will be "The Amazing Race," which returns two weeks later.

source variety

thanks Slowhatch for the Siu Sai Wan map

The interesting thing on that map to me was how near it is to a "cargo handling Bay" there---was it season 3 that they had to load a container onto something? Maybe Tara did it? Good find Slowhatch!

I found this video of the waterfront from Siu Sai Wan--the Island Resort.

Photos from a hike up to "Shoc O" or Big Wave Bay

See I knew I loved Football.

Go Bears (only becasue if I won 1500 so far on you this season if you win I win about anotehr grand, so go Bears)

Lets see I was saying about forever ago, that we should get first commercials about two weeks before the the first episode.  And that wil be spot on.

I just absolutely can't wait for this season.

The one plus to knowing the teams, is that it really has built an interest early on more then the typical season for me.

That damn beach bum better win!!!

My take for what its worth is this STUPID LESBOO took a plane to Hong Kong for a vacation and ran into some filming of Amazing Race, maybe at the airport from airport...I think?  and then made a blog entry to tell their friend Tian about her trip

eta: and STUPID LESBOO did make it to Disneyland and says it was cold

reached HK at like noon lidat norhh..

Some kind of strange patois or pidgin English--I've heard something similar in old colonial outposts in Africa...or maybe similar to Jamaican?

Got a little excited when I saw

Okay after those post, I never want to hear any complaints about my typing. blah

Jesus, you almost need a special decoder to get the gist of the post.

But it does seem that Hong Kong is slowly getting more and more firm as at teh very least a connection Hub.

Nothing at the TC website about additional airings of that episode. I've been googling Siu Sai Wan attractions, but it's just some shopping and a few hiking trails. If I were producing this leg, I'd give all the teams Octopus cards instead of cash and tell them when the value is used up, they're on their own.
