We have a significant time gap between Maputo, Mozambique and Kuala Lumpur - December 2 to December 9 so the teams could very well go north to Europe (one of the five continents visited) to places like Ireland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Croatia, Serbia and Poland which have not been visited in previous TARs My wish list includes Mount Kenya, Luxor, Crete, The Lake District in England, Nepal, Tibet, and I could keep going for hours! We better get a preview soon or I'm going to go nuts!  |

I thought that's why you put it up there...cause you don't miss anything (Wonder who's taking bets on JVJ ober yonder.) I want to get back to what GEORGIA PEACH said "Are we ready to start speculating more about Ecuador and the Atacama desert?". I previously indicated that the 3 airport cities in the Atacama Desert are Arica, Iquique, and Antofagasta and that I gave a slight edge to Antofagasta based on proximity (only 600 miles) to Santiago. Today I was reading the blog of an intrepid traveler who went the entire length of the Pan American Highway from Prudhoe Bay to Ushuaia. He had his car shipped from Panama City into the port of Arica. In his travels in the Atacama, he particularly referenced the Mano Del Desierto statue (previously displayed in this thread by someone) 75 km south of Antofagasta and the fact that Antofagasta is directly on the Tropic of Capricorn (which is South 23 degrees 26' 21.48"). It goes through the International Airport of Antofagasta. That seems to me to be an excellent reason to be going there. The connection Equator to Tropic of Capricorn to maybe Antarctic Circle (South 66 degrees 33' 39") would be a whiz-bang start to AR11. My hypothesis of visiting King George Island doesn't quite reach south enough for the Antarctic Circle, but who knows what they would do to overcome that distance. They could take helicopters 300 miles south to the Antarctic Peninsula at the Loubert Coast and they would have it.

September is our spots. August looks like trekking in the Andes, and June is the Artic! Izad just posted this over at sucks: I actually heard 'an African American couple' but I don't really have any evidence if Ucheynna/Joyce were really indeed the 5th team to arrive (I didn't stay there long enough). And also from what I heard they were coming in from Poland.
For all I know, they just might be trying to throw me off with the info, but I doubt they know I was an evil eavesdropping fucker at the time I can't tell if they really were trying to throw me off, or I had somehow misheard the info. But it probably would make a lot of sense that they were coming from a really long distance for the 5th team to be delayed so far behind the other teams. That's my assumption anyway. I guess we'll see. And I'll call the golf course on Monday if you want...  What should I ask? "Which holes did they use?" (you mean November though, right?) Didn't puddin post the date of the first promo somewhere upstream--I'm leaving to go see Dreamgirls or I would check!

yes  , November 20th. Thanks. I'm speculating that their first destination of the race will be the Matad del Mundo monument. From the airport, it's only 11.5 miles away. Here's the path. There is one tricky transition between the airport's main roan and the highway out to the monument. If you don't make the crossover then you get stuck on the wrong side of a river.
