GEORGIA PEACH, my sleuthing for the magic island continues. Besides Adams Key and Elliott Key, I have eliminated all the islands (all named keys in this vicinity) from Key Biscayne south. This includes Palo Alto, Angelfish, Pumpkin, Porgy, Rubicon Keys, Meigs, Reid, Totten, Old Rhodes, Swan, Linderman, and Arsenicker.
The better news is that I then refocused north of the Tuttle Causeway. A private island has popped up just west of the northern end of Harbor Island. It has a dock, it appeaars to have the right type of trails, and it has a perfect camera angle of Miami with two causeways in front of it. Although it has no name, this could be the island we have been looking for. The Google Earth coordinates are 25 d 51' 10. 57"N and 80 d 09' 47. 62"W. Comment on the validity of this island is welcomed.

Oh apskip--I'm not having much luck with Google maps  --I can't even find Harbor Island! Hmmm...unless you mean Pelican Harbor? Found this: Pelican Harbor is a great "in-town" marina where you can cruise the intracoastal for great shopping or dining or head out to sea with great ocean access at either Haulover Inlet or Government Cut. Pelican Island, a nature preserve and bird sanctuary, is just 400 yards offshore. You can take your boat or a marina water-taxi to the beautiful 10-acre island, which has "chickees"--open huts with thatched roofs, barbecue grills, picnic tables and a sand volleyball court. The island is open to the public and can be reserved for large groups.
Approach from Sea: Located midway between Government Cut and Haulover Cut, at ICW St. Mile 1084, just north of the 79th Street Causeway Bascule Bridge on the east side of the ICW. At ICW Marker "25" turn east into the marina basin.
Position: 25° 51.6' N., 80° 09.9' W. Could this Pelican Island be your island? I do think Boingo had a good point about being connected by a causeway or bridge so the teams can drive to the airport though. I found this site with info about area boat ramps . :woohoo: Goog job peach. Looks like a match. But I think the promo pix of the teams walking in the woods was taken at the other island that apskip found, just north of Pelican Harbor. Kinda like what CBS did in TAR8 when they went to the island in NY Harbor and then the starting line was under the Brooklyn Bridge. Plenty of parking for the cars at Pelican Harbor Marina, and a clearing for Phil to send them on their way..

Great work, everyone. The GE pier matches. No sign of the derelict boat (can't read the hull number), but maybe it's a recent grounding (less than 2 years old, I mean). Well, this sort of explains why BVM/Elise were shot standing in a boat. [attachment deleted by admin]

Cool, puddin. And look what else I see behind the girl in red photo, it's those rocks, and trees. and wooden pier that are in the TARAS group photo. They must have taken the photos of the team right by the pier, no more than a few yards from where the girl is. This is scary.  ETA: and come to think of it, the BVM pix is on the very same boat shown in the red girl pix. Must be a island shuttle.
