Do you speak 'Idol'? Ha Ha, this is good!
« on: May 05, 2006, 06:07:05 AM »
Do you speak 'Idol'? Give our quiz a shot and see.

You can take this test at: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/5052144/

1. "A'ight" is...

Randy Jackson's all-purpose comment when he doesn't want to stir up the energy to make an actual statement.

Record label that will sign the 'Idol' winner

Island off the coast of England where Simon Cowell is from

2. "Cabaret" is...

If a judge calls a performance "cabaret," it means they really donít care for it. See also: "Glorified karaoke."

The kind of wine Simon Cowell chugs when he realizes William Hung has a CD out

  Perfume endorsed by Paula Abdul

3. "Chocolate ice cream and an onion" is...

Randy Jackson's favorite meal, which he had to give up after weight-loss surgery

Ingredients for most popular Smoothie backstage at the 'Idol' cafeteria

Simonís classic comment to John Stevens, saying 1940s-throwback Stevens and Latin music didn't exactly blend.

4. "Claymates" are...

Play-Doh sculptures of the 12 'Idol' finalists, now on sale at Spencer Gifts

Nickname for the thousands of rabid fans of Clay Aiken, runner-up to Ruben Studdard in last year's show.

Sculptures of each year's 'Idol' winner, now on display in the Pop Hall of Fame

5. "Dawg" is...

 Ryan Seacrest's gang name

  Diana DeGarmo's gang name

What Randy Jackson calls all contestants. Usually preceded by "Yo." See also: "Aíight."

6. "From Justin to Kelly" is...

This title should be a warning to all "Idol" alums: Donít do a movie. No, really, don't do a movie.

A new Fox soap opera starring 'Idol' alums

A new route on Southwest Airlines

7. "Glorified karaoke" is...

 Paula Abdul's sister's name

Another term contestants donít want to hear coming out of the judgesí mouths. Ironic, because "American Idol" itself is pretty much "glorified karaoke." See also: "Cabaret."

Fortified wine popular at local liquor stores after 'Idol' ends

8. "The Hawaii vote" is...

A surfer term for a dangerous manuever popular off Waikiki Beach

The 50th state's vital importance to the 2004 Presidential election

Symbolic of a greater problem in "Idol's" voting structure. The small state of Hawaii, being in a different time zone than the rest of the U.S., may have had the advantage of less-crowded phone lines, thus keeping state contestants around longer than they perhaps deserve.

9. "Not bad" is...

 Michael Jackson's not-so-popular follow-up to his 1987 album, "Bad"

The highest form of compliment from Simon Cowell.

European city where 'German Pop Idol' is filmed

10. "Pitchy" is...

Term used by judges, especially Paula Abdul, to describe a performance that didnít really stay on key.

Sports term for a baseball hurler who's out of control

From the 1970s Eagles hit, "Pitchy Woman"

11. "Seacrest Out" is...

What 'American Idol' fans wish would happen to the host

  Host Ryan Seacrest's dorky farewell.

  Beachside restaurant in Malibu

12. "Teen Martin" is...

New magazine for kids who can't get enough of that kicky Big Band sound

Comic book about a teen superhero

Nickname for ousted contestant John Stevens, who was born 40+ years too late.

13. "Velvet Teddy Bear" is...

What 'Idol' contestants are given as consolation when they're ousted

Nickname for last year's winner, Ruben Studdard. At least one company sells an actual teddy bear with Ruben's name on it.

1950s song favored by John Stevens

14. 'Text messaging' is:

I DUNNO, BUT OMG! LOL! ROFL! U R SO KUTE! 4 REAL! LOL!!!!

The way the judges decide who to vote for

The preferred way to vote, eliminating problems with jammed phone lines

I was hoping to get some answer for getting them all right....something like "you're A'ight".  You know what I mean?  It was still fun (and easy) though.  :jumpy:
