PREVIOUSLY ON .. THE AMAZING RACE:

Phil: Five teams left southern Greece. Ray/Yo got testy with one another. Teams flew to Oman and had "fun" navigating flooded roads. At the Detour, BJ/T and Fran/Barry took the lead, while E/J grappled with a camel, then got lost. Things heated up at the Roadblock where teams had to dig in hot sand for a meal. A tight race to the pitstop put Fran/Barry in 1st. While Ray and Yo bickered, they passed exhausted BJ/Tyler, who arrived last but weren't eliminated.

Five teams remain. Who will be eliminated next?

Phil: This is Jibrin Castle in the desert in Oman. This 17th century fort, the 8th pitstop in a race around the world.

Will Fran/Barry maintain their newfound lead?

5:35 am, CLUE, Fran/Barry: Fly to Perth, Australia.
Phil: More than 9,000 miles. Situated just inland from the Indian Ocean.
Fran: We're stopping at BJ's car to give them $20
Barry: Because they have none.
B, conf: Our travel experience has kept us in the race.

5:53, Monica: One team has no money!
Joe: Should we give them a dollar?
Monica: No! Let's act like we're giving them a dollar. I'll be happy when the hippies are gone. They wanted to yield us.
Joe: So we ran to their car and gave them nothing.
Monica: Not the smartest thing trying to yield the MoJo.

Barry, reaching a blocked road.
Man/Fran discussion: The King is coming.
Barry: We have to sit and wait it out.

6:26, Ray/Yo.
Yo conf: We went in arguing from 0-120 in no time.
Ray: It may have been money left on their car.
Yo: It was probably just a psych letter.

Eric/Jeremy: We left them a $100 IOU. They'll make money from trees or summpm. It's like trying to get in girls' pants.
(HUH!?)

Fran: The king just went by.
Joe: Finally we get to go.
Monica: We wasted so much time.
Ray/Yo hit the roadblock just as teams get through.
Now, traffic.
Fireworks!
Eric/J hope hippies miss the plane.
Hippies: One team has zero.
They check the car for leftovers ...
Ray/Yo left them $10.
Eric/Jeremy left them an IOU.
Fran/Barry left them $20.
Hippies: Didn't leave us money, Joseph/Monica, better watch out.

Arriving at airport, MoJo first.
WOman: Dubai has the only flight to Perth.
Fran/Barry arrive next.
Ray/Yo arrive in 3rd.
MoJo don't like Ray/Yo either, apparently ...
Eric: I don't suppose you'll tell us the flight you're on?
Joe: No. You'll figure it out.

Hippies pick up a rider to give them directions.
Dude: I'm bedouin.
Hippie: I'm from New Jersey!

Yolanda asks for tix to Australia.
Eric/Jeremy get the same as the other teams.
Jeremy: Looks like hippies won't make it here in time to get on!

The hippies stop for Snickers bars ...
Hippie conf: Our friend Abdul is a bedouin. He's hooking us up with mango juice and candy bars!
They hug and say goodbye, then hit foreheads.
Hippie #1: "That cat rocked my world."
Hippie #2. "Let's get serious."

Flight leaves in 10 minutes.
They arrive, in a "rush."
Dude: Come with me.
It's boarding ... NOW.
Teams hope they won't make it.
Hippies: This could be it for us. Can we get tickets!?
Woman: There is really very little time.
Pulling an OJ, they jump over chairs ... they run onto the tarmac ... WILL THEY MAKE IT???

Phil: All teams now traveling 9,000 miles to Perth.
Once there, taxi to King's park and taxi to the state war memorial for the next clue.

NEXT DAY, PERTH.
Teams take taxis and ask drivers to haul it.
Fran/Barry fall into last in the Great Taxi Race.
Joe: We gotta drive faster if people are catching us.
Mo: Don't let him catch you!
Referring to E/J, Monica: Stinky! Stinky!
Yo: If we can keep our verbal clutter to a minumum,
Ray: We can win this race!

King's Park.
CLUE, E/J: Travel by Ferry to Rottnest Island.
Phil: One of Australia's most popular vacation spots.

MoJo hit the cluebox in 2nd.
Ray/Yo, 3rd.
Yo, to taxista: Do you know how we take the ferry?
Looking at the scenery: We can afford this!
Ray, looking skeptical ...

BJ/T, then Fran/Barry.
Fran: Hope they didn't all catch an earlier ferry ...

It's dusk ...
7:30 am the next ferry departs!
EQUALIZER!!
Ray/Yo's cabbie gets lost, but no matter.
The last two teams show up at the ferry.
Eric/Jeremy take a "room in the batcave" hostel.
THE PLEASURE DOME ... other people are sleeping there.

7:30 am.
Phil: All teams now traveling 13 miles by ferry to the island. Pick up a tandem bike, ride 3 miles to the lighthouse for the next clue.

Eric/Jeremy struggle pedaling up a hill.
It's hot! The sun!
Joseph: Ugh.
Monica: It's easy back here!
Joe: My thighs are killing me!
Fran: Bikes are our element. We're into biking.
Barry conf: Twenty years ago I thought we were fit, but we're stronger today!
Ray/Yo decide to swap positions, she's now in the back and he's now in front.

Eric/J, DETOUR.
Sand/Sea.
Phil: Sand, pick a pile of 40 branches, carry to a marked sand dune. "Brushing the beach" to prevent erosion.
Sea, dive beneath the waves, search thru crayfish traps and retrieve one of the few with live crayfish.
Both detours, teams must first ride their bikes to Salmon Bay.

MoJo 2nd, choose Sea.
BJ/T 3rd.
Hippies: The yield is coming ...
Monica, talking about hippies: They're sleazeballs.
Fran/Barry beat Ray/Yo.
Yo: They look old but they're good!
Ray: Sand.

M: I think we're going the wrong way. Pay attention.
She points it out on the map.

Eric/J prove how gay they really are, talking about chicks ...
They dive down into crayfish area ...

BJ/T start dragging heavy branches.

Fran/Barry choose a pile and start dragging.
Fran: It's so hard!
Eric/Jeremy dive down, check a trap full of live crawfish.
They pull up a dead one!
Teams on the beach have to pull several branches at a time but can't possibly pull them all at once.
Finally E/J find a live one.
CLUE: Make your way to Fremantle Prison.
Phil: Back on mainland, prison shut down in 1991. Underneath, in a network of tunnels used to supply fresh water, the next clue.

Arriving on the beach, Monica complains that they were delayed because they got lost. They'll dive.

Where are Ray/Yo?

Finishing now, BJ/T, 2nd, CLUE.
Oh, there go R/Y, dragging branches.
Ray: We gotta hurry up.
Idiot Joe pulls up a dead crawfish, shows it to the guy, and doesn't get a clue. Back they go into the water.

Fran/Barry finish in 3rd, head for the mainland.

Joe: Over there, Mo. THERE! GRAB THE CAGE AND FIND IT!
Mo, huffing: I'm scared!
Joe: Come on, Monica.
Mo: I'm scared (of the lobster) .. I have every right to be scared of him.
Joe: You're driving me insane.

Joe: We're the kings of not reading the clues right.
Monica: Ray/Yolanda?
Joe: Still there.
Finally, Ray/Yo get the clue and turn the bike around.

Bike Shop, Eric/Jeremy ask directions for the ferry.
Dude: We're leaving right now.
E/J are the ONLY teams on that ferry.
Hippies: Wait for us!
Woman: The Fremantle ferry is gone.
Dude give directions to another ferry, to get there 1/2 hour quicker!
They celebrate their impending lead.

Rottnest Island visitors centre, Fran/Barry call a taxi to meet them at the ferry landing.
Barry: We have a taxi waiting.
Ray: We can jog to the ferry!

Joe on the ferry calls on a borrowed cellphone for a taxi.

Eric/Jeremy arrive at the mainland, get directions.
E/J, CLUE:
ROADBLOCK: Who's ready for a great escape?
Phil: Search for a cell in division 4 with coppertop batteries and a flashlight. Search for, then enter a darkened cabin. Search a set of tunnels for the next clue.

Doofus fratboy starts hollering in the abandoned prison.

In taxi, BJ/Tyler stuck in traffic.
"We're gonna lose a lot of our lead."

The last three teams bolt off the ferry.
Fran: Taxi for Fran/Barry?
Joe: Taxi for Joseph?
Driver: Joseph?
MoJo get in.
No taxi for Fran/Barry!?
Ray/Yo hollering for a taxi.
Ray sees one and says they should run for it.
Barry: Taxi! What happened to our taxi? He didn't make it.
Fran: This is ridiculous. Sonofabitch.
Barry, throwing the clue on the ground ...
Fran: Can't get a taxi.

Second, arriving at prison, Joe will run the catacombs.
Mo, snarkily: You've been here like, forever? What happened to the hippies?
Hippies finally arrive.

Man gives Jeremy directions down a shaft stairway.
He gets into a boat and rows.
Joe decline to work together with Hippie to find the flashlight.
Hippie finds it first!

Rowing in the dark, Jeremy: I'm having problems here.
Yolanda will take the great escape.
Barry wants Fran to take the escape.
Fran: I'm scared!

Man, to Jeremy: Turn to your right, tunnels.
He finds the CLUE!
He climbs out.
Joe finally gets ready to canoe through the tunnels.
E/J, CLUE: Make your way to the next pitstop.
Phil: A mile and a half to the South Breakwater, Fremantle Sailing Club. The last team to check in may be eliminated.

A man gives them directions. They'll hoof it.

Joe: Finally found it!
Tyler: Underground tunnels? Underground tunnels?
Yolanda finds the flashlight and batteries. Now she'll look for the tunnel.
Fran gets the last flashlight, but can't find the tunnel.
Barry: Be methodical, Fran!

Eric/Jeremy ask directions from "ladies" and are .. ignored!
Joe returns with the CLUE. They head for the pitstop.
Monica: This is life or death! It took Jeremy an hour!
Joe finds a taxi immediately and they drive as the fratboys run.
Jeremy: MoJo's here, dude!
Joe: Fratboys are here!
Mo: Haul ass!
Eric: Jeremy! Start running!
FOOTRACE!

Man: Welcome to Perth, Australia.
Phil: Eric/Jeremy, you are team #1. Joseph/Monica, you are team #2. E/J, you've won a trip to Hong Kong.

Fran and Yolanda look among the catacombs.
Fran has the CLUE!

Yo to cabbie: Please know where you're going. I just want to jump out of my skin!
Stuck in traffic, Barry: Oh, Gawd!
Fran: I feel nauseous.
Ray stops and they ask for directions.
Barry stops, asks directions.
Fran: We're hanging on by a thread. I don't want to be eliminated.

Both teams run for the Bathmat ...

Phil: Ray/Yolanda, you're team #4.
Yo: NOthing wrong with that!
Phil: You're happy?
Yo: I'm happy!
Phil: You found love again for each other!?
Yo hugs Ray.

Fran: I don't want to cry.
Man: Welcome to Perth.
Phil: Fran/Barry, you're the last team to arrive. I'm sorry to tell you, you have been eliminated from the race.
Fran: We had a good run.
Phil: You guys have had some incredible adventures over the years.
Barry: She doesn't know at 61, how unique and special she is.
Fran: Having survived breast cancer put things in perspective.
Barry: I couldn't be prouder.
Fran: We used to look at older couples and think, that'll be us in 30 years. God willing, it will be.

You know what boggles my mind [unless there is a rule i dont know about] but why dont people just leave the bags in the cab and say we will be right back [or leave them in their own car]. I mean had MOJO done that and not waited they would have easily had first place and would have beat EJ in a one on one foot race the bags slow down people alot. Had Megan and Heidi not waited for their bags they prolly could have beat Brian and Greg [those girls were FAST!], and Jon and Victoria i hate to say it but Victoria was a MORON!! just put the bag down but Jon wasnt right in his reaction to her though.

Why they take the bags away in a non elim boggles my mind too, that gives the last place team a HUGE advatnage. In AR5 Chip and Kim wouldnt have won if that rule had been in place. If i were ever on the race i would pray to come in last on the first non elim to get rid of that heavy slower down bag.

MOJO really didnt deserve the win though they made alot of mistakes. Aside from Jeremy being incompetent at the roadblock they did a good job. The Hippies disgust me who are they to demand money or they will use a yield, so i am in MOJO camp. And i totally get the MOJO/LINZ connection with always just missing first place and well look what happened the the LINZ's. I mean come on Hipped did EJ leave money why dont you yield them.

I really still dont like anyone [and i almost feel asleep this eppy] but MOJO is growing on me.

My observations:

1. 12 24 hr pit stop - that messes with spoiler assumptions
2. Detour tasks so close (distance) to each other - relatively no penalty for switching tasks
3. What has happened between the Hippies and MoJo?
4. Losing all your money at a non-elim is not much of a penalty. No backpacks may be an advantage?!

The pitstop was actually 24 hrs. F&B's check in time in Oman was estimated between 4:30-5 p.m by Gman. They departed at 5:30 p.m. the next day.
