Betting Odds for AI Contestants

(PRWEB) March 20, 2005 -- Sportsbook.com odds makers arrange new odds

Money was lost by both bettors and bookmakers this week when Mario Vazquez, the American Idol contestant from New York, suddenly pulled himself out of the competition. Sportsbook.com had Vazquez as one of the favorites to win with 4-1 odds.

Those that wagered on Vasquez to win the American Idol competition have now lost their wagers. There were, however, many bettors that took advantage of the announcement.

Sportsbook.com was offering a proposition wager on whether Mario Vazquez would win American Idol. Bettors could wager either yes or no and as a result of the announcement, bettors began to heavily wager on no moments before Sportsbook.com changed its odds.

Odds makers have now reevaluated the contestants and released new odds.

Vazquez was replaced with Nikko Smith, who has come back into the competition at 25-1 – somewhere in the middle of the pack.

The full odds on the American Idol contestants are: Anwar Robinson 8-5 Bo Bice 9-2 Carrie Underwood 9-2 Nadia Turner 10-1 Jessica Sierra 18-1 Vonzell Solomon 20-1 Nikko Smith 25-1 Anthony Federov 30-1 Scott Savol 40-1 Mikalah Gordon 50-1 Constantine Maroulis 70-1 Lindsey Cardinale 80-1

Winner of the American Idol with be: Male -185 Female +155

American Idol : Next Eviction
Wednesday, 23 March 2005

Bookmaker Betting Exchange

Mikalah Gordon,  6/4

Nikko Smith,  3/1

Jessica Sierra,  4/1

Anthony Federov,  7/1

Scott Savol,  8/1

Vonzell Solomon,  10/1

This week bet365 have a market on which competitor will be the latest voted out of American Idol. Top of the list is Mikalah Gordon at 6/4, who in recent weeks has not been a favourite of the judges and has found herself periously close to being evicted.

Nikko Smith is second favourite at 3/1 which many may see as a decent price considering he has already been given his marching orders on one occasion this series. However, with the exception of Simon Cowell last week, the others were more than happy to see Nikko back in action and were rather pleased with his performance.

The contestant who does look in most danger is Jessica Sierra at 4/1, who in my opinion has flattered to deceive so far. The 19-year-old from Tampa was in the bottom three last week, and although she was first back to her seat, it can only be a matter of time before she is packing her bags for good.

Unlike her closest competition at this stage, Jessica can’t compete on a personality level – something that may well keep the likes of Mikalah Gordon and Nikko Smith in the competition for a while longer. Of course she does have other assets but these alone are unlikely to be enough for the American public to produce sufficient votes.

Also worth a small interest is Scott Savol (available at 8/1) who despite some encouraging comments is only one slightly sub-par performance away from being slated by the judges. Even last week after a decent enough showing, it was evident the judges weren’t excatly over joyous in their praise for the big man.

So the advised bets for this week’s eviction are Jessica at 4/1 and Scott at 8/1.

Online Bookmakers Unanimous Over Anwar Robinson, but American Idol Contestants Bice and Turner Making Headway

Betting on American Idol isn't exactly making a dent in online betting operations, but gamblers certainly can find great value

Miami Beach, FL (PRWEB) March 21, 2005 -- American Idol may enjoy huge ratings success, but betting on the show hasn't exactly caught on like wildfire just yet. Sports911.com, which regularly monitors wagering popularity on specific events, has noticed very little interest. Compare this with the over one million dollars wagered on both the 2004 Elections and 2005 Oscars, respectively. Nevertheless, Sports911 has determined American Idol to be its readers best bet for the week of March 21, 2005.

"It's a close competition," commented Thomas Jensen, Marketing Director for Sports911.com. "And whenever you have such a tight race, there will always be favorable odds present."

Take for example Carrie Underwood. Just two weeks ago she was not only a darling of the fans, judges and - yes - the online bookmakers. Now Underwood is posted at BetWWTS.com with +400 odds. In other words, for every $100 bet on Carrie Underwood, a gambler will take home $400 should she win the competition.

"Anwar Robinson, who performed a flawless rendition of "A House is Not A Home" by Burt Bacharach and Hal David, is the favorite to win among nearly all internet sports betting firms," Jensen stated. "But he's also far from a lock, which means we're looking at pay out odds of +140 at BetWWTS.com; +150 at Betcom.com and +200 at Bodog.com. In other words, Anwar Robinson is still technically an underdog to win."

While there seems to be a consensus among online bookmakers regarding Robinson, the next three spots are interchangeable among betting firms.

Carrie Underwood is definitely losing ground across the board. Betcom.com lists her with the same odds as BetWWTS.com, +200. Bodog.com has her at +300.

But Bo Bice and Nadia Turner continue to demonstrate their staying power.

"These are the two that bare watching and offer the best value for gamblers. Bice pays $250 to $300 for every $100 bet depending on the gambling firm. Nadia Turner wowed the judges with her version of the 1966 Dusty Springfield hit "You Don't Have To Say You Love Me" prompting hypercritical judge Simon Cowell to pronounce "In a competition full of hamburgers you are a steak." Turner pays $300 for every $100 bet at BetWWTS.com; $400 for every $100 bet at Bodog.com and $500 for every $100 bet at Betcom.com."

Most of the online wagering firms only allow a minimum of between $200 to $500 per bet on these types of events. The payout odds tend to diminish as we get closer to the final week so interested gamblers are urged to place their bets now. $20 is all that many betting sites require to open an account with one's credit card or alternative deposit method.

"Keep in mind, the American Idol competition is evolving each week and at any given time one or more of the favorites could either flounder or disassociate themselves with the show," Jensen advised.

He alluded to Mario Vazquez, who up until last week was the show's leading contender. Vazquez dropped out of the competition for reasons that are still unclear.

With that in mind, there are still a handful of big underdogs to root for, among them Mikalah Gordon, who pays out a whopping $3000 at BetWWTS.com should he actually win.

Carrie Underwood 7/4

Bo Bice 7/4

Anwar Robinson 12/5

Nadia Turner 7/1

Constantine Maroulis 12/1

Jessica Sierra 25/1

Vonzell Solomon 25/1

Scott Savol 33/1

Anthony Federov 40/1

Nikko Smith 50/1

Following the latest round of American Idol, Bo Bice has been installed as favourite with bet365 to win the competition. Paddy Power aren’t as convinced with Bo joint favourite with Carrie Underwood at 7/4.

Carrie Underwood was described by Simon Cowell as not only certain to win AI4 but also to sell more records than any other Idol contestant. This particular statement does not seem to have swayed too many punters who continue to support Bo Bice.

Anwar Robinson has slid down the list to third favourite, which is hardly surprising considering a less than impressive performance last time out. Nadia Turner was another who according to the judges let herself down somewhat.

AMERICAN IDOL NEXT EVICTION BETTING ODDS NEWS

American Idol : Next Eviction
Tuesday, 29 March 2005

Looking at the next eviction market on offer at bet365 does not offer any major clues as to who will be packing their bags later this week. Nikko Smith is the 5/2 favourite, but Anthony Fedorov is quoted at only slightly longer odds of 3/1.

Perhaps most surprising is the price on offer for Nadia Turner, who is a very short 7/2 to the next contestant out. Why this is particularly strange is in the outright winner market, Nadia is seen by all the bookies as the fourth favourite.

Two singers available at 11/2 are Scott Savol and Jessica Sierra, while Vonzell Solomon is a 7/1 chance. Seen as least likely to be making an early exit are Constantine Maroulis, Anwar Robinson, Carrie Underwood and Bo Bice.

Nikko Smith 5/2

Anthony Fedorov 3/1

Nadia Turner 7/2

Jessica Sierra 11/2

Scott Savol 11/2

Vonzell Solomon 7/1

Constantine Maroulis 14/1

Anwar Robinson 20/1

Bo Bice 33/1

Carrie Underwood 33/1
