Could Rory  O0 actually pull off Immunity this week?  We know he's a good swimmer, and he's gonna be driven for fear he'll be voted off!

Rory was my first pick , thinking back ..Chris was the one that pulled the deepest marker from that one challenge,Sarge was having a hard time staying underwater and couldn't hold his breath for long  ,  although that was not swimming ..they had a guide..maybe I'll go Fast Forward through my S9 tape again later just to check .

This is the same feeling I had when Lisa didn't get the boot.  If she doesn't win immunity I look for the guys to pick Ami off asap. If Rory doesn't win I look for him to go soon if not this week.  Now Sarge has Chad and Chris all shook up about his alliance with them. Toss a coin? BTW dropping your drawers probably doesn't count as being nekkid.  :\/

By the time I bypass Julie, Rory,Sarge,Twila and Ami for boot possibilities I don't have much to choose from. Eliza?? "gag, gag."

I don't know River, I wonder about Eliza. ?:)? We never got to see her swim in the totem pole challenge. If I remember correctly, she did okay at the marker challenge.

How do Bonus Points work?

Each week you can assign one of several Bonus Points categories to each of the Survivors on your team. Each time the Survivor performs the assigned action during the episode, you receive 40 points.

If you wish, you may assign the same category to all your Survivors. You may keep the same category for any or all of your Survivors each week.

The categories for the Bonus Points may change during the run of the game. The categories for the first week of the game will be:

First person in the episode to be seen in an interview
Picks up or gets picked up off the ground by another Survivor
First person Jeff asks question to at Tribal Council
Burnt by lava
Gets naked
Sleeps away from the tribe

It Just says "Gets Naked".  Does anyone remember on previous Survivors whether going topless (or bottomless) was considered "Naked".  I do remember the Amazon girls bathing topless.  Did they score for that?

I just watched the IC that Lopevi won EP6 ...Chris beat Ami   Rory & Sarge were neck & neck..  we never got a chance to see Eliza swim because Leann was stuck at the hitching post and was the worst at staying under water for a long period of time..I know this isn't the same challenge as the push the cylinders through the ropes thing but, Chris looks like a strong swimmer and also beat Ami in the dive for the disc EP5

I'm sticking with Chris to win IC
Ami to boot
and probably Lopevi to win RC...I'm not sure though ..I may change RC to Yasur..they do have coffee afterall ??  ;) I'm guessing its some sort of food reward /personal supplies i.e. soap ..maybe even a short trip ?  :\/

Merge name ~Maroum Tribe

AMI~
After filming she took another trip for some leisure time.Getting stronger each week. Given Immunity by John K. Tried to talk sense into Twila. Emerging as a silent leader. Will she side with Rory, this week or next? Took control of Yasur. We know Ami vacationed in Australia before returning home. We also now know, the pre jury bootees were sent away to Australia. Coincidence or bad sign? We have information that gives Ami the Friday workday off this week. Wonder why?

Off-Topic: My cousin on the next Survivor
Posted: Aug 14, 2004 4:05 AM      Reply

For those of you who like the Survivor series, I have some fun off-topic news. My (wonderful and wild) cousin Ami is getting back this Wednesday after being on an island for the next Survivor show -which I think airs in September.  If anyone could handle something like that, she could. She's crazy-fun, talented, goofy, beautiful, competitive, athletic, and smart. I think she'll make great t.v., so tune in!

LOL - I wonder if there's enough fiber and healthy carbs on the Survivor diet?!? She practiced eating grubs and stuff before she went.  In fact, she trained with a Marine survivalist, a nutritionist, a yoga instructor, a personal trainer, and some other people that I can't remember. Lordieeeeee, I don't think I can handle watching her eat some crunchy insect....but she'll make it fun if she has to do it!

By the way, if any of you have the Bill Phillips book, Body for Life, Ami is in the book. She was engaged to Bill for several years, and got a jump start on her modeling career by modeling for his book. I can't remember which pages she's on and I don't own the book, but she's one of the shapely blondes. LOL - aren't they ALL!? The last time I saw her, she was brunette with blonde highlights - but I have no idea what she's going to look like on the show. I wouldn't put it past her to wear a plastic fruit hat the whole time, like in the old movies.

I just talked to my aunt this weekend, and she said that Ami is visiting a cousin in Australia before coming home tomorrow or Wednesday. She sounded really upbeat, so that's a good sign. Can't wait to see her, and to find out how she fared on white rice and grubs, and if she turned wicked competitive on the show like some of them do. She's always up for schemes and sneaky, fun pranks - but never downright meanness. Although sometimes I wonder if all that starvation doesn't make people a littlemean and crazy. It'll be interesting to see how it affected her.

I also want to find out if they flew in her partner, Crissy, and if Crissy had to eat anything gross. As much as I love my cuz, I wouldn't eat worms for her!

It'll be fun to check in here with all you SBers when the show gets going - it's like a support group for my favorite cousin!

Update on my cousin...

We had a family get-together last night welcoming Ami home (and being surprised by other wonderful cousins who showed up and had things to celebrate, too). She had been visiting a cousin in Australia after her Survivor trip, so she just got back in the states yesterday. She looked GREAT and said the experience was "amazing." She said it was definitely one of her life's special experiences, and that she made friends that she'll stay in touch with for a long time.

She described the Survivor crew as very international - from all over the world - and awesome. We were all happy to hear that she didn't have any problems with her asthma or allergies. And she minimized the stomach distress that everyone goes through when they're in that experience, saying "that's just part of the whole thing." She had such a healthy attitude about it all, which is typical of her.

The reunion with her partner must have been wonderful, but exhausting to try to catch up on several months of being apart! They did change their home phone number, but people have already approached my aunt and uncle for interviews. *sigh* It's going to be a long autumn for them!

The kids in our family absolutely adore Ami, and they all made welcome home cards that they presented to her, which was really sweet. She's a child and baby magnet: she lights up when she's around children and they light up in response. She's been the most wonderful aunt to her neice and nephew, always doing fun and creative things with them and helping them expand their vision of the world and what life can be like.

The show starts September 16, so I'll be glued to the tube along with you Survivor fans. I've never watched an entire season before - always just caught a few episodes here and there. So this will be fun! Ami will most definitely make good t.v.

captainD's Boot Prediction - Survivor Vanuatu, Episode 8
Posted on Wed 03 Nov 2004 (37 reads)
It's time for the merge!! After weeks of playing a team sport, tribal councils what seemed like every day, and trying to memorize two extra faces, we finally are down to an individual game. I am so happy to report that the newly departed John K. will not be seen again until late December. The All-Stars hangover is gone, and with a record of 6-2 it's time for me to make my move.

Coming into the merge, it is clear to see that the two tribes leaders are Sarge and Ami. It will be interesting to see if they are the new targets or if they still continue to control the game. The immunity challenge seems to favor a strong female and the most likely choice is Ami. The women have a 6-4 lead in numbers so the key to the vote will rest in Twila's hands. She should vote along with the guys and vote off JULIE BERRY.
Congrats to the 9 remaining survivors for a guaranteed spot on the jury!

Game Over For 'Survivor' Men

CHICAGO, Nov. 3, 2004

If Sarge is so smart, why did he doom the men by letting John go?

(CBS) This analysis of "Survivor: Vanuatu"'s latest episode is by columnist Greg Feltes of CBS station WBBM in Chicago, who offers weekly commentary on the popular reality TV show.

Why John Kenney is gone:

Honestly, it's a mystery. The pick-on-the-physically-disabled/admit-laziness strategy has never failed on "Survivor" before.

No, really, John is gone because when targeted, he didn't pick an attractive alternative target for the others.John read the tea leaves wrong to an almost absurd degree on this one. It should have been obvious that this was going to come to down to a decision between him and Julie.

Instead, he idiotically made a completely out-of-nowhere move on the very popular Chad. Whatever chance he had at that point instantly evaporated. The look on Sarge's face when the Chad vote was revealed proved that John's idea was never even considered.

He was guilty of playing a long-term game. With 10 players left and without a merge, no one, especially John, should be playing for anything other than short-term success. This long-term thinking led to the decision to target Chad, whom no one wants to face in the final two. However, you have to actually make the final two first and John lost sight of that.

He was lazy. John never really accepted the fates of Brook and other John and acted as if that mentality had won out, when, of course, it hadn't. John's lack-of-work ethic allowed the women to outclass and outhustle the mechanical bull operator into the Lopevi final five.

His tribe lost the reward challenge. Normally, a reward challenge loss doesn't necessarily translate into an immunity challenge loss, but Lopevi missed a golden opportunity to bury Yasur. Instead, Yasur gained energy and strength from coffee and letters. It looks as if Scout and Yasur figured out the loophole, which allowed Scout to dump out her water and let someone stronger jump in.

Tribe Analysis - Lopevi:

Sarge, age 40 - None of his much-bandied-about leadership skills came into play in this episode, and these events could prove to be the downfall of Lopevi. If Sarge is the brains of this operation, he is then responsible for the choice of John as castoff. This was an awful decision that was based on paranoia and a tendency to overmanage a situation. Julie was the correct choice. With a merge pending, keeping John would have given the men a clear majority. John might be athletic, but he isn't perfect and would not have been able to win every challenge. He could have easily been taken down after a few Yasur members had been eliminated. Sarge should have realized Lisa was much more of a threat than John was. If Sarge is betrayed by Twila, the game is sunk.

Chad, age 35 - Ironically, Chad was arguing to keep the very person who was targeting him. He was also the only voice of sanity. No matter the personal conflicts, he advocated keeping the men together for the time being. Julie, as evidenced by her own maneuvering in this episode, is not to be trusted. However, this episode did foreshadow Chad's inevitable downfall. Unless a true friend like Chris or Sarge pulls a Colby, it is apparent that no one wants to face him in the final two.

Chris, age 33 - Chris has now made the unfortunate assumption that Yasur isn't focusing on an all-female alliance. This is based on the fact that they voted out Lisa last time. The lack of brotherhood displayed by Lopevi is discouraging because Yasur looks to be united. In fact, Lopevi might be better off if it loses the next challenge because it could boot Julie and keep Rory in the game for a potential reunion.

Julie, age 23 -Who knew? The youngest remaining player in the game made one of the smartest moves of this season when she tricked Twila into revealing that she had been asked to join the final four and into believing that Julie has been asked as well. (She hadn't.) This served to make Twila more reliant on Julie and less trustful of the men. Of course, it will all be for naught if Lopevi loses next week. In the end, it is possible that a John/Julie/Twila alliance could have forced a tie and a momentum shift.

Twila, age 41 -It is obvious that Julie's ploy got into the head of Twila and that's bad news for the gruff one. Sarge is the one potential ally who could take her to the final two and now Twila will view him with a great deal of suspicion. If this suspicion causes Twila to reteam with the women, it will kill her chances for winning because they would only be tolerating her and using her for their own purposes. She would not crack the final four.

Tribe Analysis - Yasur:

Scout, age 59 -It was a relatively quiet week for Scout, but she will be tested next week. As tribe leader, it is her duty to keep her alliance together and try and woo back Julie and Twila if a merge occurs. Scout is in a good position if there is a merge. She will stay for a long time, regardless of which team wins a majority. This is because she poses no possible physical threat and is a relatively passive personality.

Eliza, age 21 -I get the feeling that Eliza doesn't like many of her tribe mates, but it appears she is locked in strategy-wise for the rest of the game. A move to a guys' alliance doesn't look like it would improve her chances at all, so she has been forced to depend on her fellow females.

Ami, age 31 - After deviating from the logical boot order and dealing with a potential enemy in Lisa, Ami quickly bought back into the concept of girl power and didn't even let Rory make his pitch. While unity is a good thing, she probably could have probably been nicer about it because she might be the one making the pitch to Rory later in the game.

Leann, age 35 - Quiet week for Leann who did well in both challenges. It appears she and Ami have a very close bond. If that's the case, they need to hide it from Scout and Eliza, so they don't alienate them.

Rory, age 35 -After a lot of effort and manipulation, Rory was able to create a whole new persona and situation for himself last week. Well, it only took one rejection from Ami to get him started talking about scorching the earth. Luckily, his wife's letter calmed him down. But Rory still needs to learn to control his anger and swallow his pride in order to stay long-term.

Predictions for next week:

It's difficult to predict anything without knowing if the merge is indeed upon us. A merge really throws everything back up for grabs. Will Twila and Julie remain loyal to Lopevi? Will Rory be welcomed back with open arms? It's very tough to predict anything in this. However, if there is no merge, Rory or Julie are obviously the next ones to go on their respective tribes.

My current ultimate Survivor pick:

I think the men set themselves up to fail by booting John, especially if the merge occurs next episode. Of the Yasur women, Ami is too aggressive, Leann is too passive and Eliza is too untrustworthy. That leaves Scout, who alternates between flaky and resourceful, but remains likable and non-threatening.

I have seen on several sites about Julie's roommate . . . .I do not think she knows anymore then the rest of us.  The contestants sign their live away with high $$$ if they talk. . . do we really think Julie would IM with her old roommate about how she did on the show on a public board?  I coudl be wrong but that would seem to be a big lawsuit waiting to happen against Julie.
