Phil Keoghan's LE RIDE
« on: July 26, 2016, 03:47:16 PM »
For those of you who followed "THE RIDE", did you know about Phil's latest bicycle adventure?

4 Australia/New Zealander's competed in the 1928 Tour de France, one of the most grueling bicycle challenges ever.

3 years ago, Phil and Ben (from "The Ride") recreated that ride.

Using 1928 style bicycles, they followed the original route.

The Movie is having its WORLD PREMIERE in Christchurch July 29.

Quote
The brainchild of The Amazing Race host Phil Keoghan, a former Canterbury resident, Le Ride is set to premiere at the Isaac Theatre Royal on July 29 as part of this year's New Zealand International Film Festival (NZIFF).

It follows the fortunes of Keoghan and friend Ben Cornell as they attempt to recreate the original route of the 1928 Tour de France. Averaging 240-kilometres a day for 26 days, the pair traverse both the unforgiving mountains and the Western Alps, on original vintage steel bikes with no gears and marginal brakes

As with "The Ride", proceeds from the film will go to support MS.

You can read more and watch for it in your area here, tickets all over NZ are available now!

Le Ride

Director: Phil Keoghan, Screenwriters: Phil Keoghan and Louise Keoghan

Television personality Phil Keoghan retraces the 1928 Tour de France riding an original vintage bicycle, with no gears, as he tells the forgotten ‘underdog’ story about the first English speaking team to take on the toughest sporting event on earth.

Per a podcast Phil did, we can anticipate seeing the movie at REGAL Cinemas around the US similar to how The Ride aired.

"Le Ride" is about the first English speaking team to ride in what many believe is the toughest sporting event on earth, The Tour de France. In 1928, a small under-resourced, untested team from New Zealand and Australia lined up in Paris next to Europe’s best riders. Many considered their attempt a joke, one French journalist called it ‘nothing short of murder.' 168 riders started that 3,500 mile race, only 41 finished! Well known television personality Phil Keoghan brings this remarkable story back to life riding an original 1928 steel bicycle with no gears, while retracing the exact route and sticking to the same schedule, an average of 150 miles a day, completely circumnavigating France.
