'Survivor' thrives: CBS bows web show

Tue Sep 14, 7:25 PM ET

CBS is launching its second Internet talkshow based on a reality skein as it preems "Survivor Live" on Thursday, hours before the bow of "Survivor: Vanuatu."

Like "House Calls: The Big Brother Talk Show," which debuted in July, "Survivor Live" will be co-hosted by a previous contestant and another personality from a Viacom property.

In "Survivor's" case, it's season one champion Richard Hatch (news) joined by "Entertainment Tonight" correspondent Chris Booker.

Hourlong Internet show will Webcast twice weekly: every Thursday at 2 p.m. EST, six hours before "Survivor" airs and Fridays at the same time. Thursday's episode will feature predictions for the upcoming TV airing, while Friday will include analysis and a guest appearance by the castaway voted off the previous night, with viewers able to call in with questions.

CBS' online talkshows are just two examples of the broadcast nets' growing use of the Web for marketing. WB streamed the pilots for "Jack and Bobby" and "The Mountain" on America Online and affiliates' Web sites, respectively, before they aired.
