Survivor Blood vs. Water News: Cast and Twist Revealed  Posted on Aug 21, 2013 09:50am

CBS announced today the 20 castaways who will compete against each other on SURVIVOR, when the Emmy Award-winning series returns for its 27th season with a special 90-minute premiere,Wednesday, Sept. 18 (8:00-9:30 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.

Former Players Compete With Their Loved Ones
The fall edition of SURVIVOR, themed "Blood vs. Water," will feature former players competing with - and ultimately against - their loved ones who share the same goal: to outwit, outplay, outlast and ultimately be crowned Sole Survivor. Will the returnees use their prior experience in the game to help their partners or will they leave their relatives alone to fend for themselves? Alliances and relationships will be tested and bonds will be broken when mothers, daughters, brothers, spouses and partners vie against each other in the ultimate competition, raising the question: which is thicker - Blood or Water?

Redemption Island Returns... With a Twist
This edition of SURVIVOR will feature the return of Redemption Island, where castaways who have been eliminated from the game can seek redemption and return for a chance to win the million dollar prize.  The twist this season, however, is loved ones will be forced to choose whether to "save" their partner on Redemption Island and switch places with them, thus allowing their loved one to immediately re-enter the game, or leave them in exile to survive on their own.

Redemption Island with a twist... It's kind of ambiguous how it'll work out for now... But I guess it's going to be REALLY interesting. I'm totally going to guess that the ladies (the wives particularly) would want to swop places with their husbands if their man got backstabbed/removed from the game first or what!

I have very low expectations for this season. It just gives me a feeling of "meh". :/

But we'll see.

I especially don't like the TAR-style "Meet the Cast" videos. :res:

Really don't like this cast at all, aside from seeing Gervase, Kat, Candice and Monica. <3

I guess I am the only one who absolutely loved Colton in the first season? I don't know but has any other person single-handed make his/her tribe go to tribal instead of another? I like his and his fiancé's plan too.
Should've given Francesca another chance to complete her hat-trick  :funny:

Aras and Vytas are my favorites. I like Gervase and his niece too. Colton and Tyson should be fun to watch. I never LIKED Laura, but I don't dislike her at all. Kat's annoying. Candice is a good player but kind of boring. I don't know why Tina is back but I don't mind her. Monica and her husband will be really good. And of course, there is the lovable Rupert Boneham.

While I might have chosen some different players, I think this twist will be fascinating to watch. Will loved ones turn on each other? Save each other? Stab each other in the back? Lots of room for drama...and human interest. I'm in!

Amanda and her sister Katrina would have been a wonderful pair to play this season. Loved them in China and Micro!!! But letting her play for the fourth time may be overkill (obviously an understatement when comparing with Rupert  :res: ).

Amanda said she will NEVER play again because of the way they edited her to be a passive player in all the seasons she played. And I totally feel for her. They edited Danni in Guatemala to be really quiet and everything but she's totally the opposite of what was portrayed (she's a Sports Radio DJ!! How can she be quiet/passive??)

I am totally LOVING the twist this season and I'm sure Survivor likes to bring back returning players because well... the last season without ANY returning players was horrible (Naonka.. anybody?). Well, Samoa was great... but that was just because of Russell really.

I am SO HAPPY to see Aras, Colton, Kat, Laura and Gervase and Tina (that's about 60% of the cast).

I am SHOCKED but still okay with Tyson and Rupert (bleah... but people will watch and if this means ratings I'M FINE WITH IT). I didn't remember Monica in One World, but bet they brought her back for Brad (her husband = NFL = ratings in someway) and hopefully getting her to take revenge against Colton.

The only cast member I'm disgusted with is Candice. Candice was useless the first time round. Candice was useless the second time round. Candice will not win the third time round. That's it. This girl get way too many chances (James ANYBODY?), is unmemorable, but gets so many chances in life! I'll rather see Francesquaaaaaa!

And can I say... it will be so weird to see a pair voting for each other. And this time, if a person flip... it means TWO votes. I'm guessing we are going to have loads of epic shift in alliances.

LOL! Maybe this is the one Russell and Brandon should be on together so Russell can teach Brandon how to play.

Didn't Rob just do a 'Around the World' reality travel show with...can't recall...his partner. Maybe that was a couple of years ago.

I'd like to see Colby back especially since he handed Tina the win that year. He is busy as well though with Top Gun....or was...don't know if that was renewed.

I won't hang on to that. Usually if it's a good season Jeff Probst will slut it out and tell the whole world how "special" and how much he liked the season... aka Philippines, Heroes VS Villians etc.

He hasn't said anything about this season yet... so I'm still being really reserved and keeping my expectations low.

Jeff is really a character that I don't know if I love or hate. He really takes people out of their comfort zone.
After watching Survivor Palau I wondered if Janu really would have laid down her torch (she said she would have regardless and I admire her for that) but I wondered would the game have changed if Janu had stayed in and potentially ruined their plans anyway?

Jeff just seems a bit pushy at times or even pointing out a flaw even more, again Janu at the water immunity challenge. Other times he seems like a great character and I like when he call people out or points something out, but he can go over the boundaries sometimes.

He must be doing something right if he has hosted it from Day 1.

Jeff was worst in recent season. Most of the time especially, he call out names of girls who performed weakly at challenges. This in a way may impact the outcome of the vote if the tribe thinks the girl is weak because Jeff called her out. I hope he doesn't do that this season anymore. :'( :(

Sometimes girls that are "weak" are not actually weak, it's just their strategy and Jeff throws them under the bus.

Have to wonder with the pairs this season that some unforeseen problems might arise that cause some glitches???

Even the best intentions can go down the crapper.

Too bad Jeff Probsts' morning talk show wasn't renewed. It wasn't exactly all that great but, had potential. I've seen worse.

He has an amazing voice though! He sang a Blues number for the show on the last epi and I was really impressed with his voice.

I think it's just all in the editing. I'd like to believe that Jeff finds something to say about each castaway at Tribal, but the uninteresting/irrelevant ones don't make the final cut of the episode. Just my guess though.

I think it's just all in the editing. I'd like to believe that Jeff finds something to say about each castaway at Tribal, but the uninteresting/irrelevant ones don't make the final cut of the episode. Just my guess though.

You are correct. I once read Jeff said in an interview the Tribal council last hours so you can imagine many things being said

Redemption Island with a twist... It's kind of ambiguous how it'll work out for now... But I guess it's going to be REALLY interesting. I'm totally going to guess that the ladies (the wives particularly) would want to swop places with their husbands if their man got backstabbed/removed from the game first or what!

This is true, but I suspect if the wife was stronger, the male would swap too because the 1 million dollars  goes to the family.

Tina and Katie, Hayden and Kat and Aras and Vytas are the last ones without either one of the loved one being voted off. Considering we started off with 10 pairs, and there's only (12 + 3) people remaining in this game, that's pretty impressive.

Do you mean impressive that it's a lot?

All I can say is with one tribe consecutively going to tribal, this is pretty much the best that could've happened. Only if Caleb was voted out we would have a pair more or if the returnees voted out Boneham.

Pre-merge was pretty good, hopefully post-merge is also good.

It was pretty damn good! Especially since many people (including me) expected a meh & bleh season with this idea of relative pairs.

No, I expected there to be more pairs. But turns out it seems Tina and Katie and Aras and Vytas have survived well.

Can I also add that this season has proven that a lack of Hidden Immunity Idols does not necessarily means the season will be boring. <3

BEEN A LONG TIME WE HAVE HAD HAD NO IDOLS USED IN THE FIRST 7-8 EPISODES? :yess:

Good point out!

It would be funny if someone pretended they were going to throw the clue into the fire at RI, but then quickly ripped it open and read it before doing so  :funny:

I've been thinking about this scenario.. if I'm on RI and everyone I want to give the clue to wants to burn it... I'll just ask loudly who wants it and if anybody really wants it, I'll give it.
