That sounds about right...

is it me or did we know a lot more about the contestants and their whereabouts (sightings, pictures, tweets, etc.) at this point last season?

Would it be correct to assume Leg 3 filmed today, June 13? Or should've began filming at least?

No, you need to think of how Phil can jump ahead and what transport would be needed.

Maybe tomorrow....

There was a mention of going to Cordilleraro from Santiago.
There is a Cajon Cordilleraro about 30 mi SE of Santiago and they would most likely have to self-drive.
Vineyards in region along with Zip-line and rafting.
Is close to Argentina border, as is most of Chile.

From a brief check, flights go through Paris or Madrid, it takes 17 hours or so from Santiago.

I'll check properly later, but I do remember that TAP operates flights to and from Brazil.

Found this sighting on Instagram search: http://statigr.am/p/479010967019021637_4738032

Mookland 9hrs ago #lisbon #amazingrace

"Guess who I was on the same flight with?!? Amazing Race Season 23 contestants. Had doubts but it's just been validated, Phil walked in the same hotel elevator as me. Haha! He was cranky."

From her caption, she was on the same flight as some teams and looking back at her other pictures taken in the last couple days, she was previously in London. So teams could have been on the second (or third) flight of a sequence from ???->London->Lisbon.

Possibly even fourth. If they were in a remote region of Peru or Bolivia it would be (Remote regional airport)-Largest city (Santa Cruz or Lima)-London-Portugal.

Is Lisbon the 3rd or 4th leg? They haven't been spotted in a few days so it might be the fourth, but then again flying from Santiago to Lisbon might take a while so it could also be the 3rd.......?

Flying from Santiago or other locations to Lisbon shouldn't take that long to get in to. They would need to leave the morning of June 14th to get in June 15th. Assuming the second Chile leg is on June 12th they could possibly sandwich a 3rd leg on June 13th and make it the 4th leg, but it's still also possible that it's only the 3rd leg as well.

We may have had an extended pit stop to get Phil out of Chile first, whereever the teams went to. The more connecting legs, then more time that will be needed to get from gate to gate in each connecting airport. My guess is that getting from Chile (other than Santiago) to Lisbon would take at least a full day (24 hours disregarding time zones) and possibly more.
They haven't been to Lisbon in a long time. Maybe they'll get to drive diesel again. :)

I am not doubting the possibilities of London, Madrid or Paris, but there are multiple connections to Lisbon via Sao Paulo or Rio. Brasil was a colony of Portugal.

The majority of the Brasil to Lisbon flights would be of the overnight, red eye type of flights.

And also I think TAP and TAM have various agreements with other South American airlines for codeshares and the like.

When I search for possible flight connections, the first thing I do is hit the "Hide Codeshares" button. It really doesn't matter how they are ticketed.

What I meant was that TAM and LAN have strategic codeshares, so it would be easier for teams to fly from SCL to LIS via Brazil.

Presuming they're departing from SCL of course.

Well it will certainly be interesting to see what they did, as we get more data.

TAR has been to Chile three times to run race legs. TAR 7, 11, and 16. Each time they went to Argentina immediately after. Once by self driving, once by flying, and once by bus.

BsAs has connections to Lisbon also.

A lot depends on just when TPTB wanted teams to fly.

What really stumps me is that sole Lisbon poster was in London a few days back and I really don't see any reasonable reasons why teams would have to connect in London and not other better cities.
