The special thanks are what you would expect--except for Roger Dugmore, which may have something to do with next week.

The apology at the beginning was less than 15 seconds, and I'm doubtful that anyone who doesn't watch the episode on CBS will ever see it. I'll know tomorrow when I get the I-Tunes download of the episode.

Exactly, there's wasn't even an apology message for the Canadian feed. Anyway, most likely scenario is that they cut it for time and as it didn't affect placements, they could just brush off as it never happened.

Here's the inside scoop on the CBS apology as reported last night by Deadline.com:
http://www.deadline.com/2013/03/cbs-apologizes-for-the-amazing-race-segment-that-used-hanoi-war-memorial-vietnam/

Quote
CBS Apologizes For ‘Amazing Race’ Segment That Used Hanoi War Memorial

By THE DEADLINE TEAM | Sunday March 24, 2013 @ 8:59pm PDT

The memorial, which includes wreckage of a downed U.S. B-52, was used as a location where contestants hunted for clues. The Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion organizations had criticized CBS over the show’s use of the memorial. Two Americans were killed when the bomber went down. The segment also included a choir singing a tribute to the Vietnam Communist Party.

“Parts of last Sunday’s episode, filmed in Vietnam, were insensitive to a group that is very important to us — our nation’s veterans,” said the CBS statement, read before the start of tonight’s episode. “We want to apologize to veterans, particularly those who served in Vietnam, as well as to their families and any viewers who were offended by the broadcast.” There was no immediate response from the VFW, whose National Commander Jack Hamilton had written to CBS President Les Moonves charging that “the B-52 scene, as well as the young people singing a propaganda song, was totally unnecessary to the show’s plot, which speaks volumes about naïve producers who think they’re in charge when they are not.”

American Legion National Commander and Vietnam War veteran James E. Koutz issued a statement that said “America is a forgiving country. When you make a mistake, you own up to it. The American Legion applauds CBS and The Amazing Race for its apology. … We believe it to be sincere and heartfelt. We would like to thank the hundreds, if not thousands, of people who supported us through their Facebook comments, tweets, e-mails and phone calls. We would also like to thank Fox News Channel’s Greg Gutfeld for bringing this to our attention and his colleague Bob Beckel”, Koutz said. “To CBS, I say, ‘apology accepted’.”

To CBS I say "Why did you believe that any apology was needed? Did you think that all those veterans you apologized to were going to stop watching CBS television shows in protest?"

I am proud of them for apologizing. While certainly not meant maliciously, it was an error in judgement/good taste, and was best corrected. Apology accepted, and ready to move forward!

Who knows, as it was definitely not shown in the telecast. World Race Productions wanted to have all teams bunched on the flight combination to Africa. Chuck and Wynona did not depart until 346am and they needed to get to the travel agency, figure out which country is where Maun is and get to the airport well before 10am. Was there time for them to complete another task? Perhaps not.

Just the way the leg started, they zoomed in on the clue, and had people say they where going to Africa. It seems that there was a task, before Africa.

Yes we DO know 100% from the press pics for the week that there was an edited out task in Hanoi. Interestingly, that pic has now been removed from the official set.

That's so weird. They sayed FLY TO BOTSWANA while reading the clue at the Pit-Start...we might have missed something after it , but maybe in the first clue?

The instructions read by Pam & Winnie says "MAKE YOUR WAY TO THE CITY OF MAUN, IN THE KALAHARI DESERT".  Later Mona & Beth add that they have to find out in which country Maun is.

In recent seasons, Phil would start interviewing the team before saying it was a non-elimination leg, which made it too obvious. So I was really happy that this leg Phil said it was a non-elimination leg immedietly.
