...I wonder who the host will be

If it has to be a Canadian, perhaps some who have maybe not yet been discussed here:

William Shatner - will the contestants have to "boldly go where no man has gone before"?
Alex Trbeck - sometimes the contestants lives might be in jeopardy
Celine Dion - Perhaps the contestants, when the going gets tough, will break into "my heart will go on"!
Anne Murray - undoubtedly, some contestant from Toronto, climbing an ice mountain in the Yukon, will wish they were a snowbird.
Pierre Elliott Trudeau  -oh yeah, he's dead - fuddle duddle
The BearNakedLadies - sorry, forget them, I thought the title was litteral
David Cronenburg - can you imagine what he would think of for detours?
Pierre Poutine - oh, he doesn't really exist
Keanu Reeves - a detour could be a choice between the blue pill and the red pill

just some ideas.

Sarah Polley - oh the stories she could tell. Seriously she would be great, but I doubt she would do it.
Justin Trudeau - i think he is kinda busy right now.
Neve Cambpell - hmmmm.

Remember you heard it here 1st.

Would Nicholas Lea work? He's a Canadian, he can definitely do the creepy elimination pause like Classic Phil (he was Krycek on The X-Files, so he knows intense), he's got the right sort of personality... except he's 50 now.

I was thinking someone who is a news reporter on a Canadian daily news program. Don't know any, but that may happen.

Not sure if the reporter is just saying it for the reason of just saying it:

http://video.theloop.ca/watch/the-amazing-race-comes-to-canada/2008613956001#.URM9nb99KyQ

She mentions that coast to coast and all 13 provinces and territories will be visited spanning 9,000 miles.

Is it required to like the facebook page of the future contestants? People promoting themselves and told others to like their FB page... I've seen waayy too many couples exposing their effort to be on this race, so just incase one of them showed up in the sightings later on, i hope i can still track them.. :)

4 main sponsors announced. At least we know what kind of cars they'll be driving now...

"CTV announced the four top-tier sponsors – Air Canada (represented by Marketel), BlackBerry® (represented by Starcom), INTERAC®, and Chevrolet Canada will each play an integral role in this summer’s inaugural season of  “The Amazing Race Canada,” helping the teams race to the finish line."

http://www.ctv.ca/TheAmazingRaceCanada/article/With-the-premiere-sponsors-announced-there-are-four-more-(big!)-reasons-to-apply-for-The-Amazing-Race-Canada

Deadline to apply is less than a week away, February 28th!!

Do we know if they already started the second round of audition/call backs, or if they really are waiting for tomorow to start that?

Apparently the ParticiPaction duo applied ...

The Amazing Race Canada officially closed its open auditions as of noon Friday. And, while the show won’t officially announce which Canadian couplings will race across our great nation just yet, we here at Canada.com already have a clear favourite: Body Break duo Hal Johnson and Joanne McLeod.

The couple, who have been keeping fit and having fun as partners in life and nationally televised ads for 25 years, claim to have never missed an episode of the American reality series. So when CTV announced that it would be putting on a Canadian version, Johnson announced the couple’s participaction on Twitter.  “Joanne and I will be auditioning for #Amazing Race Canada as soon as the information is available,” Johnson sent to Body Break’s nearly 10,000 followers.

............................
And on February 27, with some encouragement from a Huffington Post Canada article, they did just that. Watch the video – which is just as awesome as you’d imagine –

According to the ad played during the broadcasting of tonight's American episode, TAR Canada will be broadcast on Monday evenings this summer! Interesting...it's starting to come together.

Also I'll be on the lookout for clue boxes and such over the next 5 weeks in Toronto! It's quite likely they'll do at least one or two legs here.

Expect the host announcement to be used as a distraction to avoid first-leg spoilers.
