I'm OK with NZ, but two legs, and then to Fiji? Oceania overkill.

And I don't especially like another two legs in South Africa.

More reasonable wishlist destinations for season 3 are Thailand and Japan. I can just imagine season 3 ripping open a clue flying to those countries so here's my guess on the route.

Leg 1 (Australia --> Japan) Gold Coast OR Brisbane to Tokyo
Leg 2 (Japan) High-speed rail to outer Tokyo villages
Leg 3 (Japan --> South Korea) Busan (manufacturing route)
Leg 4 (South Korea --> Russia) Vladivostok
Leg 5 (Russia) Trans-Siberian railway to Saint Petersburg
Leg 6 (Russia --> Ukraine) Bus to Kiev
Leg 7 (Ukraine --> Italy) Venice
Leg 8 (Italy --> Nigeria) Abuja and bus to Lagos
Leg 9 (Nigeria) Lagos (rebuilding and economic activity route)
Leg 10 (Nigeria --> Ethiopia) Addis Ababa
Leg 11 (Ethiopia --> Thailand) Bangkok and bus to Chiang Mai (nature route)
Leg 12 (Thailand --> Australia) End City: Perth (Western Australian Outback finish)

Japan is a go-to must. :cmas16

Tokyo is beautiful in the spring with cherry blossoms in bloom. Hopefully they can take a hi-speed rail to Sapporo and then fly to Busan (recommended) or Seoul the next leg.

Yes that is a definite possibility and perhaps onwards to Europe through Russia.

If cost is an issue I don;t think Japan would be a good destination. Its expensive.
If TARAussie can fly to South Africa from Australia, I believe in them flying to Japan as I have read they have similar booking prices. Read it on a flight site, but not sure if it's respectfully true or not.

I think the start line and/or the finish line should be the tallest peak of Australia. Mt Kosiosico (spelling is probably wrong)

The nearest "international" airport to Kosciusko National Park is Canberra, which is a nice 2 - 3 hour drive and only gets flights from Sydney, Adelaide, and other Australian territories (why even bother calling it "international" :groan:)

This would be a perfect finish line location despite its airport direct destination choices and long drive. :)

It's called Canberra International Airport because Air Pacific had flights there to Nadi for about a year or so in 2006. They could also do a massive drive from Sydney or something to get to a Mt. Kosciusko in the early morning to have a sunrise finish which would be epic.

As someone who lives in Canberra I will settle this argument.

Yes Canberra Airport is technically a domestic airport (no international flights) but they are currently upgrading the airport to make it an international airport and (possibly) Sydney's 2nd Airport to be connected to Sydney by a High Speed Rail.

So yes as of 2012 it would be nearly impossible to have a finish line in the Canberra/SE NSW area but in the coming years it would be more viable.

Thanks for your feedback! :hithere: Would love to see TARAus feature a finish line in Canberra. Perhaps in the pre-international stage, they could have the final 3 teams sign up for charter flights via Sydney to Canberra.

Here's 1/6 of a race design for the first two legs! :lol3:

STARTING LINE: Manly Oceanworld
Leg 1 (Australia --> Chile) / Sydney to Antofagasta via Santiago [First 5 teams on Qantas, last 6 on LAN Airways to Santiago; teams must book their own flights to Antofagasta from Santiago]
• ✈ Sydney (Sydney Int'l Airport) to Antofagasta, Chile (Cerro Moreno Int'l Airport)
• Antofagasta (Plaza Colón)
• Antofagasta (Club Hípico de Antofagasta) (DETOUR)
• Antofagasta (Playa La Chimba)
• ⛵ Antofagasta (La Portada National Monument) (PIT STOP)
In this Detour, teams have to choose between Train My Horse or Groom My Horse. In Train My Horse, teams have to teach a yearling the basics in horse racing by leading it through an elaborate obstacle course. Once their horse eats the dangling carrot at the finish point, a horse racer will give teams their next clue. In Groom My Horse, teams have to become farriers and clean, sweat scrape, brush, and rehydrate a horse after its big day. Once all the chores have been completed, another farrier will give teams their next clue.

Additional tasks
• Upon arriving at Plaza Colón, teams have to search under the kiosk retreat to find their next clue in the form of a picture (horse racing).
• At La Chimba, Teams have to ride a boogie board against the currents to a boat which will transport teams to the Pit Stop at La Portada National Monument.

Leg 2 (Chile) / self drive to Colama & Atacama Desert
• Estación La Negra (Truck Stop)
• Atacama Desert (Cerro Armazones) (ROADBLOCK)
• Atacama Desert (Paranal Observatory - Very Large Telescope)
• Pan de Azúcar National Park (Copiapoa cacti field) (DETOUR)
• Pan de Azúcar National Park (Playa Amarillo) (PIT STOP)
In this Roadblock, one team member has to carry a sandboard to the peak of a flagged dune and from there, slide down the dune to receive the next clue. In this Detour, teams had to choose between Agua and Roca. In Agua, teams have to collect half a cup of water by the taproot of cacti. Once they have collected enough water, they must give the water to a naturalist which he will trade them for the next clue. In Roca, teams have to shovel a wheelbarrow full of large rocks and deliver them to a pit about half a mile away. After filling up the pit, teams must break open the rocks with a pickaxe to divide them into two parts. Once all rocks have been split, they will receive their next clue from a native desert local.

Additional tasks
• Upon arriving at the truck stop, teams have to operate one of 10 dump trucks and dump the load of sand and gravel onto the ground. They must search through their pile to find a flag which teams must trade for their next clue.

Might as well do one since I am bored - limiting the Asia and putting a greater focus on Europe/Africa/South America: (in hindsight there is a bit of Asia but it is Middle East and East Asia)

Leg 1: Perth, Western Australia to Dubai, United Arab Emirates

Leg 2: Dubai, United Arab Emirates to Kuwait City, Kuwait

Leg 3: Kuwait City, Kuwait to Yerevan, Armenia

Leg 4: Yerevan, Armenia (**coughcoughusemytardclegscoughcough**)

Leg 5: Yerevan, Armenia to Anywhere, Greece

Leg 6: Greece to Cyprus

Leg 7: Cyprus to Geneva, Switzerland

Leg 8: Geneva, Switzerland to Lalibela, Ethiopia (Jonathan donkey switchback anyone?)

Leg 9: Lalibela, Ethiopia to Accra, Ghana

Leg 10: Accra, Ghana to Montevideo, Uruguay

Leg 11: More Uruguay

Leg 12: Uruguay to Sydney, New South Wales
I'd rather walk alone than let them throw dirty confetti. ♥

3. Busan, South Korea -> Ulan Bator, Mongolia (archery, wild horse riding, yak herding type challenges) 9 teams -> 8 teams
4. Ulan Bator, Mongolia -> Moscow, Russia Non-Elimination Leg 8 teams
5. Moscow, Russia -> Dubronik, Croatia 8 teams -> 7 teams
6. Dubronik, Croatia -> Cairo, Egypt Non-Elimination Leg 7 teams
7. Cairo, Egypt -> Barcelona, Spain 7 teams -> 6 teams

From my point of view, I could care less what countries they go to or how many times they go there.

Countries are a limited pool, one of these days we will run out!

But the world is a wondrous place...and as long as they show me NEW PLACES, that is all I need!  :yess:

Certainly for me, having good tasks and good teams eclipses the importance of having a good route and locations, but on the other hand, if you have a good route, you can get a good season even with average teams/tasks. But that's just my opinion.

Leg 1: Australia (Darwin) -> Malaysia (Ipoh)
Leg 2: Malaysia -> Bangladesh (Chittagong)
Leg 3: Bangladesh (Chittagong)
Leg 4: Bangladesh -> Azerbaijan (Baku)

I concur, but knowing that ActiveTV produces a lot of different versions of the race means that we may potentially see a few countries/challenges repeated from other versions of the race because their contacts are already there. But having said that, I think one of the main reasons why the Aussie version has done so well critically is down to the casting. Even though last season there were quite a few stereotypical and gimmick teams, once we got to know them better I understood why they were cast as there was more to them than their exterior image and the race brought it out.

I haven't heard anything about season 3 as of yet, nothing on any of the popular tv blog and news sites either. So we can assume that the race probably won't air this year because of the return of The Mole (which they are spending a crapload of money probably from that dedicated to the race's budget in previous years) but we may here something come the new financial year (July). I just can't see how 7 could can such a well received show that has won more accolades and international awards than pretty much any other Aussie production right now. Plus even though ratings weren't possibly good enough to make up for the huge cost of production, they must've factored in that they were competing with the Olympics last year and their terrible timeslot scheduling definitely threw ratings off.

I just don't want it to be over for the sheer fact that I still want to get my chance to go on the race!  :gaah: :lol3:

I'm probably one of the only people here who doesn't care where they go... as long as the locations are epic and amazing like the first two seasons then I'm happy :)

Oath! I'm even happy if they go to China AGAIN!

Thinking logically, they'll want to go to places they've not been to before, but are quite easy to make a leg in. So for example, places like Thailand, Cambodia, Malaysia, Japan, Tanzania, Botswana, Italy, Switzerland, Germany, Spain, UK, USA, Brazil, Chile, Argentina, NZ are probably more likely to be visited.

^ Don't forget the random 'Oh, it's a country that TARUS hasn't visited! Let's go there!' Which I hope is in either eastern Europe or Africa.

Looking through all of these, it seems that just about everyone has mentioned the US. Do you think they will go? I mean, they did just go to Canada in season 2. Then again, only 2 seasons (France and Israel 3) have ever been to the US (Israel 3 went to the exact city I live in  :gaah:). Now I'm contradicting myself  :groan:
