The TAR 22 START LINE LOCATION IS:

The   GRIFFITH OBSERVATORY  in Los Angeles, CA.

Wiki: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Griffith_Observatory

From the GO home page:

"Griffith Observatory is an icon of Los Angeles, a national leader in public astronomy, a beloved civic gathering place, and one of southern California's most popular attractions. The Observatory is located on the southern slope of Mount Hollywood in Griffith Park, just above the Los Feliz neighborhood. It is 1,134 feet above sea level and is visible from many parts of the Los Angeles basin.

The mission of Griffith Observatory is inspiring everyone to observe, ponder, and understand the sky."

Picture Phil, on the steps, dressed in black leather, eyebrow raised, arm upstretched:

GO!

Yay for a brand new country!

Very close to my wishlist location of Fiji. Maybe they hop over next? A likely next leg might be NZ. I see they have direct flights to Auckland.  Then the Philippines can be next hehe.

Technically it's not a new country. It's a french territory overseas, so yeah..
Still it's a cool destination.

Queensland, Australia? Sounds like leg 2 if the dates are right. Great find!

Or even leg three. Maybe a leg in Brisbane and off to Ipswich.

Just a general warning:

ANYONE found to be posting FALSE SPOILERS here, joke or not, is at SERIOUS risk of being banned. Take notice.

I would strongly suggest deleting anything not able to be proved.

Actually French Polynesia is a overseas country of France, meaning they are kind of like a sovereign state with their own president and laws.

Transferring this to our confirmed location thread, with the addition of some airport pictures...

from arrival gate...

from other perspective (main/front gate) where you enter/exit the aircraft runway...

ferry station / water taxis to the mainland bora-bora (hotels and accomodations), located at the back of the airport..

Several teams apparently on an AIRNZ flight from Auckland to Christchurch landing within the next 30 minutes.  Will keep an eye out, interesting the fact that Christchurch has had the major Earthquake recently yet bouncing back incredibly fast.
