The new location for series 13 of the Dutch Mole is known... : South Africa!!!!  :wohoo:  :yess:  :colors

The first footage that was released was taken, as it seems (and recognized by my SA friends) in Soweto, Johannesburg, more specifically in the Regina Mundi church. :)

Eight of the new contestants have been revealed, the last 2 will be revealed later today at the Televizier golden ring awards, for which the program has been nominated. It's kind of like the Dutch version of the Emmies.
They've been nominated 5 or 6 times now out of the 12 seasons.. But they missed out by a mere 100 or so votes last times (it's a public vote). The problem is that other programs that are their competitors are on air now (as opposed to the Mole) campaigning.. I hope they finally win it this time..

At any rate... Here's the first footage of those 8 known contestants in SA:

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/v/dMC-ouAmEFE" target="_blank" class="new_win">http://www.youtube.com/v/dMC-ouAmEFE</a>

Featured contestants:

* Daniel Boissevain (actor)
* Carolien Borgers (comedian)
* Zarayda Groenhart (tv hostess and VJ)
* Paulien Cornelisse (comedian)
* Joep van Deudekom (comedian)
* Janine Abbring (tv and radio hostess)
* Tim Haars (actor)
* Tania Kross (soprano, singer).

The first group photo of the new contestants of S13 in SA was released a few hours ago.  :wohoo:  :hearts:

From left to right:

* Zarayda Groenhart (hostess tv shows, former VJ)
* Joep van Deudekom (comedian)
* Tim Haars (actor, tv host)
* Kees Tol (actor)
* Carolien Borgers (comedian)
* Ewout Genemans (actor, tv host)
* Tania Kross (soprano, (opera) singer).
* Danil Boissevain (actor in tv drama's)
* Janine Abbring (tv and radio host)
* Paulien Cornelisse (comedian)

Soo... any hunches or speculations about the Mole yet?? :sab

Also, two notes:
1) One contestant had a rather bad accident and was operated on in SA, so they were eliminated because of that.
Any information about this I request to be via PM with me and NOT to be put in this topic as I don't want people to be spoilt who don't want to. So please kindly refrain from any comments about this in this topic!!

2. This is the first time we're having an opera singer among the contestants.
Also this is the first time the Mole ever visited the African continent in all the international series as far as I know.  :)

Personally I'm very excited about this, I think SA will be a wonderful location!  :hearts:  :colors

I plan to yes if I can find some help from friends. :)
It's a lot of work though, so I can't make any solid promises yet, especially with deadlines at work and other IRL stuff.
But if I can, I will. :)

So is this a Celebrity version? Or is this like The Amazing Race Asia, where a lot of the contestants have ties to the entertainment industry but they try to say that it's a show for ordinary people?

As far as I know (after watching season 12, 10 and some other tiny bits..) The dutch version of the mole is always consist of people coming from enterntainment industry or notable people such as book collectors, novel writers, fine artisans, stage performers, quiz hosts, famous athletes, etc.. I think this one is designed to be like that.. Hemm..

Yeah it's a celeb version.  :)

I actually know a few this time., after viewing their pics, CV's and what the internet provides ito information.

So yeah, celebs, more so even this time since almost everyone I speak to knows at least 3 or so of them.  :lol3:
(I never watch Dutch drama or soaps hence me not being quite representative in this respect  )

Love those smilies btw! :hoot: :dancer:

I'm sooooo ready for this season....
At first glance I would say the Mole is either Male or Zarayda or Tania (the latter being less likely imh though people like her have been moles befoe :P ) I'm sorry if this seems inappropriate but they do feel more suspicious to me at first glance and my instincts on female moles have been better than on the male ones sofar lol... (though not for international series, I caught almost all of the UK, US and AUS moles sofar.. )

Still, good chance the Mole is male in this series imho at very first and based-on-hardly-anything glance.. I think 4 of the guys could well be the way I see it (not too sure about Kees Tol but then I don't know him either really...)

Hopefully the interviews at the press conference in December will shed a bit more light..

To be continued..  :)

Hi everyone!  :reindeer

As promised I'm back with an update.  :cmas16
The press release/presentation was held last Monday and we got our first Mole Mail containing exclusive footage of the first episode of the new series in South Africa!!  :cmas9

Also interviews with the new contestants on what it was like keeping their mouth shut for such a long time (as this is one of the best kept secrets in this country or maybe indeed the world.  :cmaslol )

Hope you enjoy it!!  :)
Feel free to share your first suspicions :sab

Oh and by the way I am told that the location they are going to was used in TAR Season 7 as well.  :cmas22

Mja sorry to dissapoint you but no, Janine (last woman in vid) is neither.
Don't want to spoil anything but I think it's best you know straight ahead to avoid confusion. :)

Janine had an accident early on in the series (not sure when exactly, ep 2 or 3 max I think). :(
She was hospitalized and operated on, because of a fractured vertebra - therefore incapacitated to continue.

I wasn't sure to which degree this would be discussed/out in the open and didn't want to spoil stuff for you guys either :(
But since it's now been out in the open by the way they brought it to light well, I would suggest to just take her out of the equasion. :)

She's doing well, on the mend in her own words. :) It was a very serious injury requiring an intricate operation.
But they did a really good job, and she's recovering quite well. :)

Could have been a lot worse though, so quite shocking - these things can happen in an instant, quite scary when you think about it. There was nothing that could have prevented it, she didn't hit any rocks or whatever and,the water wasn't too shallow either. She just arched her back a little bit too much in her jump and hit the water wrong. The impact/force of hitting the water fractured the vertebra. :( Glad all is ok though, even if she's still recovering. :)

Recently here the IPV6 route for Youtube hasn't been working well. It often says "An error occured. Please try it again."

Hope I watch this season smoothly.

I'm sorry to hear about your laptop crisis... :ascared We're expecting the following episodes. :)

I have no idea after watching the first episode. Here's my comment:

Show content
Generally speaking, the Mole doesn't care who gets the exemption. This is to infer the Mole was among those five in the second group in the challenge. But anyway, WIDM is never what it appears to be. The only contribution in this episode was to give the Mole a very good cover.

ETA:
Show content
Judging from the fact that the Mole would always want to cover himself/herself, he/she would like to tender the idea of not giving "the trusted" the exemption because other contestants would definitely love to do so. Now I guess the Mole was among the first group to guess in the challenge. :)

Now the #1 suspect in my mind is:
Show content
Tim, who didn't get on the van with Janine initially. He was also in the first group to guess.

Interesting thoughts and observations Supertux!  :)
I have been thinking along similar lines in fact, about which group would make more sense for the Mole.
Thing is, it will depend largely on the kind of Mole tactic this year's Mole has chosen.  :)

Hopefully we'll get more impressions from the next episode!
Here's the 1 minute preview for episode 2 of the Mole in S.A. :

Four contestants have been excluded in my mole list.

Show content
Zarayda, Janine, Kees, Paulien.

I'm not very sure about
Show content
Tania
. She's TOO active in this episode. But I think she's on the right track. She's not the Mole because a mole won't take the initiative to make an alliance.

In the quiz,
Show content
Tim's
suspects and
Show content
Caroline's
were opposite. Both of them evaded elimination. I guess one of them is the Mole.

Show content
Joep
thought
Show content
Carolien, Tim, Kees and Paulien
were all not mole and thus got eliminated.

My Mole list by now:
Show content
1. Tim
2. Daniel
3. Caroline
4. Tania

Interesting!  :)

I get your reasoning for Tania but not so much for Carolien tbh.
Don't you think it's slightly problematic that she
Show content
pushes on to win them 1000,- - in effect 2000,- because they would have lost it had they failed - when she could have just as easily failed?
She would have had a good excuse.. Heroism cover or not I personally don't think it's likely the Mole would do that..

But I  guess we'll have to wait and see.  :)

True. :) I haven't excluded her in my mole list yet.

I have a question: in this season there are always people in the background in Art's monologue. What does that infer? ???

ETA: Another question: has it ever happened that the Mole got so badly injured in a challenge that s/he had to be evacuated from the game? What would the crew do in this case? To choose a new mole from the contestants?

Obviously I haven't got an actual, confirmed answer to this.. ;)

Thing is, if the person getting ill or injured etc was the Mole I doubt we would ever be informed tbh..
I assume they have a backup plan in order... I very much doubt they would let it all go to waste, as lots of money is at stake as well as a very popular show for the public network which is already struggling in some respects...

Anyway, I don't think said person was the Mole in this series at least. They seemed to be playing the game as contestant- or maybe they just chose to show us that who knows.. But I doubt she was a Mole candidate though. Not quite the type imo.

Getting back to your question though, no clue, the production's always been quite vague and unclear about it - for obvious reasons I'd say. ;)

No offense but in previous series this turned out to be not true on so many occasions.. Mostly because questions at this stage of the game in particular have answers pertaining to several people. Hence Tania may well have answered questions right accidentally.

On more than a few occasions contestants have been astonished to see their main suspect getting executed when they had put all the answers on their entire test on them.. especially when not a lot of people are onto the right mole yet I might add..

It's just instinct. Usually I don't have luck in lottery anyway. I still remember the Mole in the previous season was ruled out in my suspect list early. :lol3:

Tania sabotaged a lot of things, and barely brought money into the pot. I don't understand why she put all eggs in one basket in the first test (as she claimed in EP2, if it was true) to one person (Tim) who was not suspected by most contestants, and she gladly told many people Tim was the Mole. It's not understandable in a contestant's view, but for a Mole it's one way to throw the target on someone else.

Also, if I recall it correctly, in the safari challenge in EP3, every team had 3 envelopes, while in Tania's confessional she listed 4 animals? ???

I feel this comment on Youtube interesting.

If those pieces of paper really are photographic papers (I'm pretty much certain they are), then it was suspicious that Zarayda specifically said they should open them before it gets dark.

Kees, Paulien, Tania, Zar are all suspicious. As to others I don't think any of them is the mole.

I don't understand the first challenge in EP4. Art said they missed a lot of money. What did they miss? Was it an envelope containing money on the road? ???

I don't quite get it either. I'm hoping we'll get an explanation for it in the reunion episode.  :)
Art was being very vague about it all. It's been hypothesized that perhaps the 'big five' that Art was referring to may have in fact been the big five on the Mole money (which features that just like the real SA money does).

It looks like there'll be (undeveloped on photo paper) money in the tubes, so perhaps that's what Art was talking about.
It seems strange though, because the way he said it made it sound like they should have spotted money somewhere along the way.
But I have no clue where, so.. Just hoping this will be clarified later because at the moment I really don't know how the contestants could have spotted it..  ???

Haven't finished watching EP5 yet.

I enjoyed the first challenge in EP5 since it also used to be a very very popular game in China (though not popular nowadays) to the extent that almost every teenager played it! ;) Don't know what it's called in foreign countries. In China we call this game "Who's the killer".

My bet on who's the Mole:
Show content
Zarayda 45%, Paulien 40%, Kees 15%.

So did I!  :hearts:
In fact I think it will be among my favorite challenges ever because of the psychology and double bluffs going on.  :hrt:

It's still being played on game forums and such. I think it's called either 'werewolves', 'werewolves and vampires' or 'mafia'.
Same principle.  :)

After watching the whole episode 5 and some comments on Survivorsucks I've changed my opinion about the mole a little bit.

My opinion about the possibility of who the mole is:
Show content
Zarayda 30%
Paulien 35%
Kees 35%

P.S. From what's been shown in this season it seems a lot of contestants haven't been on the right track. I'm expecting a season where even the winner is on the wrong track finally. :lol3:

Topita, who's your favorite player so far (whether s/he's a contestant or the mole)? I like Carolien very much. To me she's very interesting. :)

ETA: I'm wondering about one thing. In EP5 Tania noticed that on the money taken from the safe there was an icon of a buffalo. In the safari challenge in EP4 there was also a buffalo among "Big 5". That buffalo was

Tim
. Is there any relationship between these two things?

I have just finished episode 3 of the series, so I have not read all of the comments. (I hate to be spoiled).

First, let me say thanks to the OP for translating this series into English. I can only imagine how difficult it must be to do so. As an American, I feel shamed that I could not, even in my wildest dreams, be able to translate anything into any other language. At times, I feel us Americans are too arrogant and ignorant of other countries and languages. Watching this and reading the, from what I can tell, nearly flawless script makes me feel stupid. :)

Back to the show.

I really have no clue who the Mole could be. My hunch says its
Show content
Kees
but that's just based on the vibe I got when I first saw the introductions.

This show is really and truly greatness because of the fact you never know what's going to happen next. We are in the dark as far as anticipating the next move. We have ideas but more often than not those ideas never materialize. This show is too cerebral for the American viewer. We tried a few seasons and it never caught on. Such a shame. But at least I have 12 more seasons of this version of the Mole to catch up on. :)

Question: Are the celebrities featured this season household names in the Netherlands or are they B-list celebrities? (Just curious.)

Indications about who the Mole could be in this season, noticed by Mole fans:

Show content
Tania
There're many fast clips of Carmen, especially in early episodes. For example, in EP2 when Tim was hit by the laser a painting of Carmen suddenly appeared.

Paulien
Is there any?

Zarayda
1. Some fans noticed when she initially arrived in SA holding the "De Mol" card, she was reading "I am..."--I am the Mole.
2. In EP1 the clip of "'82" was shown, referring either Zarayda or Kees.

Kees
1. He's the only one who has the clip of jokers (on which there're the words "de mol") shown in the opening intro. When this clip is shown there's a background sound like "am am"... Seems like "I'm de mol."
2. The clip of "'82" in EP1.
3. The priest's description of SA in EP1--The first letters form the word Case (Kees) is the Mole.
4. The lion on the Mole diary.

Supertux you're not Dutch so no offense, but how would you know?!  ;)

The fact that I don't know some of them means nothing because most of them are known by a certain audience.
Daniel for instance did act in a number of very popular Dutch movies and series, so most people here would know him. Whether that makes him A or B list to me is not important, regardless...

The comments on survivorsucks are in part by me, sharing some of the theories on the forums.  :)
I don't think there have been any direct references found to
Show content
Paulien
yet no but I'll keep my eyes peeled. I too have a life and I don't have the time to read up on everything on the forums..  ;)

As for favorite contestant: I really like Tim and Paulien especially, and Carolien too. I actually like the entire cast I think, though some of them are a bit too OTT in terms of drama for my liking at times (Zarayda and Tania eg though they are funny too).

@scuzneck
I'm glad you're enjoying the show!  :)
We've managed to translate 4 whole series apart from this one so far, feel free to have a look at my you tube account (same as these vids). It's a lot of work though, we're doing it in our spare time too so not all other 12 series have been subtitled so far. We may do another series perhaps, once this one is done, but it all depends if we can find the time to do it.  :)

Anyway, happy to hear you're enjoying it.

Fourth episode finished and I must say that was the most enjoyable execution/elimination ever in reality television. I loved every single nail-biting second of it.

Still clueless when it comes to who the mole is. I will stick with my initial thought until I see or hear something blatantly otherwise.

On to, episode 5.

And, just being curious and loving this cast and this show, how long until episode 6 and the others are translated. I love the work you and your group does Topita. Keep up the good work and keep them coming.

True but I also said that didn't mean much since I don't watch a lot of Dutch tv, series or go to theatres/musicals and such.  ;)

I read the spoilers for EP6. Having known who was executed in EP5, I wasn't surprised at the executee this time.

I hope we will have a Chinese version of The Mole someday. Our producers just don't know there's such an amazing show--every time it is that when a show is a hit in America/Britain, our producers would get it and introduce the show in China. :( For shows that are hot in other countries, those producers have no interest at all.

Topita, among all challenges in all seasons of this show, which is your favorite? You've mentioned Mafia is among your favorite challenges, then what else?

I've only watched S12 and S13. My favorite challenges are "prisoner's dilemma" in EP4 of S12 and the Quartet game in EP11 of S12.

Topita, among all challenges in all seasons of this show, which is your favorite? You've mentioned Mafia is among your favorite challenges, then what else?

Hard to say because a lot of challenges are interwoven with the countries they took place in.
I guess if I go by series:

Series 2 (not one I watched frequently as I discovered the series after S3) in Schotland: A challenge similar to what happened in other Mole series, all three contestants being locked up and dependant of each other to succeed at the challenge. Each holding the 'key' to their lockup with puzzles they needed each other for to solve. Was quite a fun version of it. :)

Series 3 in Portugal: Lots of great challenges in this one imho.
Visually I loved the one where they were actually sitting on top of a plane to spot letters making up a word in total.
There was one in which they were in a church looking for wax statues of bodyparts symbolizing childhood illnesses they had to guess of the other contestants. But I think I loved the game in prison most - three of the remaining contestants went to do something, were watched by the fourth who could win an exemption if she got them to confess about what happened that day. There was a lot of psychology and stamina involved because if they didn't comply they were punished in the sense that they could no longer sit or lie down but had to remain standing. Tough challenge that was. :) But S3 was pretty great altogether imho.  :)

Series 4 in Canada: I think the one where all but two contestants were on a gigantic sailing boat, steering it, when the other two were in a museum trying to solve puzzles to give them the right coordinates. I also loved the one where contestants were all chained up with each other and had to rely on each other answering truthfully to unlock the locks - however they gradually got less and less light as their time limit drew closer. Plus the one where they were all trying to make a laser beam go through a large set of tunnels using mirrors, powered by one person who had to keep up the energy source by biking at the right speed.
Oh and the one where they were all doing different odd jobs somewhere in Montreal and during their day got a secret clue to meet up somewhere in one central place at a specific time. The people that got their got to ask the previous Mole some insights into the present Mole. :)

In terms of psychology I think there was a questioning game that was quite interesting. Three contestants did a certain activity and had to lie convincingly enough to the third one to make sure they didn't guess the right story belonging to the right person - for an exemption. It was interesting to see how some people dealt with trying to make the truth sound like a lie, and vice versa and how the fourth person was analyzing it.

Series 5 in Australia and Bali: Well the steamtrain challenge I think because it was so pretty. You can watch it on my channel it's in episode 3.
I also really loved the challenge where two of them had to plan the route (in a jeep by taking pictures) whilst the others later had to follow the same route by bike. Obviously that led to a lot of confusion and really beautiful scenes of Balinese landscapes. (episode 7).
The stuntflying was pretty fun too. :)

Series 6: I think the challenge where the contestants were running for their lives basically being hunted by some gaucho's .
Also another one was quite fun where they had laid out some points on the Argentinian pampa's like it was Amsterdam. So they had to find their way on the pampa's on horse, pretending to drive through Amsterdam instead. That was very amusing to see because they got very confused. The streetsgame was another favorite (lovely settings, good doublebluff involved as well). They also had one where they were visiting a high society Argentinian couple and all of them had secret missions during that diner, they had to fulfill without the hosts being suspicious or knowing about it. That one was quite fun too. :)
Also, the game in the subway. Contestants each were at a different subway station. Each had one suitcase with them with a destination on it worldwide. Each time they got to the next person, they had to determine which of the two was relatively closer to Buenos Aires where they were at the moment. The one closest could continue and so on. It was quite a tricky game because we're so used to thinking of distances relative to us in Europe, not from South America. :)

Series 7: A spectacularly high abseiling from Bayoke Tower in Bangkok, amongst other things. Plus one in which the contestant who just had a red screen, could stay in only if they managed to steal Molediaries from other contestants on a nighttrain. Plus cruising through Bangkok to several destinations being allowed to used 5 means of transport, each just once on a limited budget to try to get pieces of one puzzle/word in Thai. Lots of confusion there. Plus the meet your mole game in an elevator which was a complete mind**** ..you know what. ;)
Plus well, one of the biggest twists in Mole history which I will not reveal for that reason. ;)

Series 8: Mexico.. Love it!  :hearts: I loved the challenge where four contestants were looking for the other two, and were given very cryptic descriptions by a satnav, that was giving relative positions from where they were in Cancun. That obviously led to a lot of confusion. The other two had to hide the money to be earned in one of 10 pinata dolls all resembling the contestants. They had to use a logic the others could follow so they would smash the right one. Needless to say none of it all worked out very well.
I also loved the one where one of the rooms of one of the contestants was plastered with thousands of pictures of what they had already done, in which they had to find a few ones that would give them the right code..That really looked like a psycho killer room.
Plus the challenge where they had to convey a certain message in various codes. They started out with morse, the next pair had to use the semafore alphabet - the third pair was only allowed to use mimic and the 5th person in the chain was only allowed to draw/make a cartoon. That one was quite hilarious actually.  :lol3:
Oh and then there was the one where they had to make sure to find money on a huge Cruise ship without running into each other. Hilarious that was too in fact, and fun to watch.

Series 9, Ireland and Jordan: There was a Ben Hur type chase-game that I really loved, visually stunning. I also loved the game where they were playing a typical old fashioned Dutch board game but then huge scaled in an amphi theatre. Plus a photograph challenge in Petra. Jordan was just so beautiful really..

Series 10: I think the challenge where they had to find tubes throughout Nagasaki (episode 2 on my channel in case you want to see it).

S11 I would have to say the laserchallenge in episode 2, the cowherd and photo challenge in episode 5 and the volcano challenge in episode 7 because it looked so epic.S11 is all complete on my channel too.

S12, well yes I think the ones you mentioned. I did enjoy the dress up game too in the end but that was more because it was so funny. And the one where they had to guess what the Mole had bet on them to do, in terms of the abseiling. :)

I have two questions:

1) Where do those contestants executed go? I mean, do they fly back to Netherlands or is there a place like Survivor Ponderosa for them to be on vacation?

2) Though the rule says that nobody but the winner can get all money in the pot, do other contestants get some rewards in accordance with their rankings?

ETA: Is there any way to download the video clip and the CC subtitles you've uploaded onto Youtube and combine them? Sometimes it's not convenient for me to watch it online.

They go home, on the whole. I can't speak for all contestants, some took out 3 weeks holidays anyway so perhaps some decided to stay on a bit where they were I think one contestants did so at least when on Bali (S5). Makes sense knowing most of us get limited holidays per  year.  :)

But normally they'd be going home. No 'Ponderosa' for sure, especially since in most cases the contestants would be flying back from different airports anyway.  ;)

Not that I know of. I know there has been talk of a small compensation for the Mole but tbh I have no idea of the amounts or if that's true at all. Production's said it's not the case so far I think. But we don't know either way.  :)

Just download the youtube and the subtitles separately. Should be easy enough plenty of youtube download software I think..
Then put it in the same folder and give it the same title/name. When starting up the video from that folder (containing the .srt file with the same name as the video) the subtitles should appear.  :)

Does Art know who the mole is this time? I know he knew it in the previous season.

Sometimes whether the host knows who the mole is or not makes a difference.

Also I'm guessing whether it'll work this time: in S12 my favorite contestant was Liesbeth Staats and she finally became

the runner-up
. This time my favorite contestant is Carolien Borgers (I really like her hairstyle and smile!), so she'll... ;)

I definitely think there's a good chance she's a finalist (I had her pegged as such from early on).
And I have been marking her the runner up for some time now. So I guess we'll see.  :)

Have read the spoiler for F3.

Well I think we've spotted the right mole. Wow!

Is this true: the mole never takes the initiative to make alliances?

P.S. Is it that most contestants are recruited by the WIDM crew, or many celebs will ask the crew if they can participate?

My feeling is that in this season some contestants are not WIDM fans... When Tania said in her confessional about the elimination of her suspect that "There are two moles, definitely," I really didn't know what to say.

Some have been more open in accepting them.
But thinking back on previous series I would say in general, no the Mole is not inclined to take the initiative, in general.

Both ways I think. Some are really eager, some have busy filming schedules so can't always get the time off so are asked several times.

True but Joep and Tim really were big fans of the show.  ;)
They usually bring at least one or two big fans, and also some people who have watched more occasionally.

Time for episode 8..

*************** Caveat!!! ****************

The third challenge of this episode contains potential spoilers about previous series and Moles (Series 7 through Series 12).
So if you still want to watch those  my advice is that you may choose to avoid watching that challenge all together!!

The images are mostly in the background on the Drive-In cinema screen, but you may run the risk recognizing some as some come from Mole confessionals too. So watching it is at your own risk.  ;)

I have uploaded a separate video (2nd vid) with the relevant part with respect to this year's Mole.

Enjoy!  ;)  :)

Time for Episode 8 of the Mole S13 in South Africa!!   :conf:  :wohoo:

Yes, but there's no telling.
Real fans tend to overthink things which may cause them to get executed (too) early.
On the other hand, if they stay in the game for more than 2 episodes they tend to do well actually.  ;)
One of them even went on to win it.  :)

With the revelation of the last victim before F3, everything seems clear.

I think most people have known who the mole is. If I'm right, maybe it's better for future contestants to understand one thing: while most pure contestants would make themselves suspicious as the mole, the real mole would always try to be like a contestant by, for example, earning some money while they could have earned much more, or putting other people look suspicious.

Also I'm guessing whether it'll work this time: in S12 my favorite contestant was Liesbeth Staats and she finally became

the runner-up
. This time my favorite contestant is Carolien Borgers (I really like her hairstyle and smile!), so she'll... ;)
:lol3:

Though in essence I would very much like to agree with you, this has definitely not always been the case on the Dutch Mole anyway (or some international versions for that matter).
Strategies definitely varied, and though I'm not a big fan of those, it's not exactly always been like this.. Which I guess is good in the long run as much as I don't like those either, because it keeps you guessing - and in the end it's what keeps the series and the intrigue alive.

So no, you're not right in your assumptions regarding this, as far as I am concerned.. It all depends on the Mole and which strategy they adopted. If not, people would have figured it out ages ago and have lost interest - the series wouldn't have gone on for 13 editions.

That being said I have had the same Mole suspect since episode 2 so yeah. This series definitely points this way.. Thank goodness.  ;)

ETA: May I also remind you of your "% sure rates" of them being the Mole at the beginning of the series about your suspects.... ;)
Just saying.....

What if in an execution the number of the bottom two's correct answers are the same and they use the same amount of time?

What if in an execution the number of the bottom two's correct answers are the same and they use the same amount of time?

If there's a tie, the deciding factor is time.
As far as I can tell it's never been a tie for time too. It's too much of a coincidence to occur I think, having both the exact amount of answers wrong as well as the time in seconds...

It's happened with winners they had the same amount of questions right but were mere seconds apart.
I don't expect that would happen with earlier episodes, ties are infrequent enough anyway in that sense.

I don't remember having heard anything about this potential occasion - I imagine maybe they would make a tie-breaker.
I don't think it's very likely to happen any day soon though and if it does happen I'm sure they'll find a way to figure it out in a way that makes one more deserving of staying than the other.  :)

By the way Tux I don't mind your questions  (at all  ;) ) and after all these years I definitely know more about the production of the series and what may be likelier or unlikely. But in the end I'm just a viewer so I really can't answer some of your questions except by extrapolating from what I know and deriving (from what's going on) by logic. For the record.  :)

I don't mind the questions don't get me wrong but I don't always have an answer to them and perhaps even production doesn't either (more likely than not) because some things just happen and there's not always a contigency plan for all situations, i.e. for things that are unlikely so I guess improvisation may come into it at times as well such as the untimely leaving of contestants due to illness or in this case alas, a severe accident.

We had a chatsession with Art recently. He mentioned they had made small adjustments wrt challenges after Janine's accident (such as the rope being a little more tight and easier to deal with in the rope-bridge/waterfall challenge. And they made minor adjustments on the challenge(s) right afterwards just to err on the safe side even more so. So yes I think it's not a static thing and sometimes they need to improvise too. :)

Dank u voor uw antwoorden! (Is it like this? All Dutch I've learnt is from this show. :))

There's one thing I dislike about the Dutch Mole: the setting of the challenge for protecting the exemption. I don't think it's needed. First, people who've won the exemption deserve to have it indeed. If it ever comes to me, it would make me feel like wasting my energy and being played to win an exemption and lose it in the protection challenge. Second, it's strange that it isn't the case that there's always a protection challenge after someone gets the exemption. Then it seems unfair to me to see that while in S13 the exemption to F3 required the receiver to protect it (the helicopter and laser gun challenge), in S12 the exemption to F3 didn't require so.

That's not always the case though Supertux wrt exemptions being won and whether or not people need to defend them.
More often nt than it s in fact. Not sure what the reason is, I guess for drama/ television and maybe for the Mole to win it back and not earn the money perhaps. I don't know.

I do agree with you that it's not necessary imho, as people fought hard to earn it in the first place.
I don't know, but it's definitely not always the case.

As for fair, well I'm afraid a lot of things on this show are not 'fair'. I mean, was it fair that
Show content
Ewout
was the first to leave?
Obviously that person wasn't hedging their bets enough, but to be fair: the first challenge was a dropping and the second the bungee jumping. The first episode is always the hardest for lack of information, but this one even more so because there was little exposure to Mole-ish sabotage. Plus due to all the exemptions being won their chances of leaving were one in six if the Mole was among the people with an exemption, and one in five if that was not the case.

So yeah, unfair maybe but sometimes in this game you also just have to be lucky I guess.  :)

But I do agree that it was sad that after all that
Show content
Daniel still had to leave after making his test worst.
At least they really enjoyed themselves.  :)

I agree that it's always sad for the first person out of the game. But for those first victims who don't understand the meaning of hedging their bets and go for only one person in the very early episodes (which happened a lot in other versions), all I can say is they don't understand the gameplay.

Before the finale airs, I'd like to make a guess about the comment Art said in the "Big-Five" challenge in EP4 that "unfortunately you've missed a lot of money." I guess that refers to those three tubes in Tim's hands. Maybe there was a clue that could explain to contestants what was inside the tube in some place on the road...
