I don't like it, but I know it's a matter of time there will be no new countries left to visit. At least they are going to places like Moscow, Russia which has not been visited in a while, or Turkey.

I am also disappointed that we have no new countries (that we know of)

Though I am glad we will get to re-visit Indonesia, Bangladesh, Turkey, Spain and NYC!  :hearts:

and the fact that there are no new countries makes me think WRP has something up their sleeve... even though the route is only three continents I am sure WRP have prepared some potentially awesome challenges
and it looks as though we have a great cast this season too  :yess:

It does feel like the return visits is more about showcasing these places in HD for the first time, which I'm sure, will make a lot of people happy.

Nice to see NYC finally get the proper TAR treatment, as it was one of the major cities in the world, to never get a full leg.

I don't care. New countries don't make the show. They haven't even been to Istanbul in so long, it's practically new. Plus Mallorca is a new part of Spain they are visiting, as well as the Loire Valley in France. This is looking like a pretty cool route to me.

I have to say don't care as well.  While the locations can be interesting, I like the show more for the people and the diversity of tasks.  I get a kick out of seeing places I have been to, but I also enjoy seeing places that I have never been. It's kind of like watching Tar AUS and seeing the same tasks that TAR US had in the earlier seasons.  While it's kind of neat to see how others tackle the same things others have done before, it's a little meh at the same time.

Let's wait for the race to be announced before making assumptions. There is still a possibility of a new country being used.
Go take a look at the timeline, there are still places unaccounted for, like the entire Leg 8, or the two Bangladesh legs.

And even if there isn't a new country, it's ok. It was bound to happen sooner or later. That way we're sure that TAR won't end when they run out of new countries.

I knew a day would come when we would get new countries; but, with some places having not been featured in a while (Spain, Turkey); new locations in familiar places (Loire Valley, France), and some recent new countries getting a second breath (Indonesia / Bangladesh) its cool.

I'm also excited that; we get to see a full leg in NYC instead of fly here, go there (maybe one more quick task) and finish line. It's the main reason i'm okay with as of TAR 12; previous US cities being show in more detail as a full Race Leg

We're getting to the point where new countries every season is not going to be a given. Many of the remaining countries that haven't been visited pose logistical or safety issues, and the show did more than the recent usual new countries these last two seasons.

As it was, we came close to losing track of them this season as we did in TAR 19 filming, but we were helped by return visits to Shanghai and to Indonesia, and TAR is seen in enough places that there's no way the show could film in Moscow, Amsterdam and New York City without being spotted.

Here are some new countries TAR could go to:

Bulgaria
Latvia
Malta
Israel
Jordan
Cyprus
Luxembourg
Qatar
Fiji
Samoa

Plus they still miss NorthernIreland and Wales in Great Britian.

I favor Latvia (between Moscow and Amsterdam) and Luxembourg (after Amsterdam for the same leg) for TAR21.

Now that we've gotten Indonesia, Denmark, and Belgium, what IS the most surprising country we haven't seen yet? Sure, we haven't had Pit Stops in Canada or Finland, but we've at least BEEN there. What's left, really? The islands in the South Pacific, Central America, and the non-Croatia bits of Yugoslavia? Are there any other really obvious ones?

Oh, and Kenya. Stupid TAR5 non-visit.

This is very true. The only place I think that really should've been visited by now is Wales, which, technically speaking, has been visited before (Wales being in the U.K.). Still, it is relatively safe and quite interesting.

Otherwise, we really just have some countries with security issues left and some small countries in Europe. Maybe Israel in the future?

I think there are many countries which are possible on all continents. Here is a list constructed to the best of my ability to remember which countries teams have visited and which they have not:

I thought Bulgaria, Albania, Montenegro, Serbia will finally be visited!

I like this route, mostly because they finally visited Spain again! And location in there which wasn't expected. Also Loire valley in France sounds good. I'm expecting least from Moscow, Amsterdam and Shanghai legs. Also Istanbul is great as I'll be studying there during the fall semester

I'm pretty sure they stayed in Russia for 2 legs, only new country between NL and Russia they might have visited is Latvia imo.

Bangladesh & Nepal are seperated by India and I don't think they'd be going there due to communist insurgents around the area.

Feels like a re-run of 19 without Africa...

I think it's very unlikely for the race to be located in North Korea because at the moment, the government is not letting anyone enter North Korea. Well, even if you're allowed to enter, but there's a minimum chance of survival because if a local North Korean is caught talking to a foreigner, the North Korean has to go to the police station and write down the conversation. I haven't been there, but I had a friend who stayed in North Korea for 2 years because she was an ambassador's wife. She told my family everything about what's happening in North Korea. I'm not lying, for your reference

Not that quite impress with the route. I still like TAR 20's route more. But this season has visited beautiful locations: Indonesia, Turkey, France & Spain ♥ 2 legs in Bangladesh sounds fun. I just wish they stayed away from China (South Korea, Philippines or Laos instead) and Russia (Balkans instead).

I think Tunisia has been visited in TAR1 already? They did 2 legs there~
In my opinion, I would like to see TAR visits 1 or 2 new countries each season, but it would be better if they can really show some culture of those places.  Take Bangladesh as an example, last time the visit of Dhaka really makes me disappointed, I think I did not know much about that place even after the whole leg, everywhere seems only chaos to me.

I am happy to see them visit Spain finally! I am very surprised that they never thought about exploring this country, and no leg has been done in Madrid yet! Also, Andalucia like Granada would be an interesting place to go.

Out of the un-visited countries, I think TAR could go to Nepal, Latvia, Bulgaria etc. which could be interesting and not dangerous to go

They were in Barcelona, Spain in TAR 10, leg 12.

I think this is the first season with no new countries at all. I think it is odd and a little off putting. WRP/CBS usually tout their new country lineup in the early advertisements so I don't understand the decision.
I know that after twenty seasons you mat expect them to run out of locations but I don't think this is true. There are many places they could have gone and they only need one or two new ones. Maybe there were some changes or logistical problems that we don't know about.
Whatever the reason it should be interesting to see how they sell it to the viewers. I'll bet that they don't mention it because the common viewer probably won't think much of it.

I think Leg 8 will be Latvia.
1. Its a new country, which every season has had so far.
2. I think they put the 2-leg countries early so they wont have to do them while in europe. Yet, to make it easy for production to stay ahead of teams, neighboring countries like Russia/Latvia and Spain/France would make sense. Just speculation though .

No, Leg 8 will not be Latvia. It is confirmed that there are 9 countries, which are as follows:

1 - USA
2 - China
3 - Indonesia
4 - Bangledesh
5 - Turkey
6 - Russia
7 - Netherlands
8 - Spain
9 - France

Latvia will not fit.

You never know. At the season 20 finish line, Phil said 9 countries instead of 10. Sometimes they dont count the USA or charter flight/marked car/random pit stop countries with no actual tasks.

In this case, I think they would be more inclined to count the USA and not Austria. Austria was a transit point for TAR20, whereas the USA hosted an entire leg. There wasn't even a single clue in Austria; it was just a clue in Italy saying, "Drive to Austria and then take a train to Germany".

They had the Netherlands in TAR19. 'Take the train to the Netherlands and fly to Panama' and that was counted.

I'm gonna post this again, as I looked through every past season and compared it to the actual countries that had clues in:

I compared my total countries visited for each season with Phil's total, and he includes USA MOST of the time, but not all. There's only a few discrepancies:

In S3, England and Scotland are counted separately, but that could be counted either way.
In S9, Phil says 9 countries, but there are clearly 10 visited, so I can only assume they didn't count the USA this season. Brazil, Russia, Germany, Italy, Greece, Oman, Australia, Thailand, Japan and the USA all have tasks in them.
In S15, Phil says 8 countries, but there are 9 visited, so again, the USA isn't counted. Japan, Vietnam, Cambodia, UAE, Netherlands, Sweden, Estonia, Czech Republic and USA all have tasks in them.
In S20, Phil says 9 countries, which would imply the exclusion of Austria or USA. I'm inclined to agree with Airlinesguy and say that this time, the USA was excluded.

So 2 or 3 times, Phil has excluded the USA, possible in the most recent season. I definitely don't think we can say for sure that the missing leg isn't in a new country.. (My money's on Slovakia!)

But then again, pre-race press releases usually mention the newest countries..

Im curious about something. Has there ever been a time where a press release about a new season revealed a new country unknown by the spoilers?

Thanks. I was just wondering. (I had a theory that WRP knew we didn't know it, so they didn't reveal it, which I know now cannot be the case.)

Not sure if we're reading the question the same way, but Docol and other fans spoiled the Paraguay leg as it happened, and Indonesia's got to be amongst the most stalked legs (beating even Sydney and Taipei) ever!
Found out that Neobie in Chinese means "f*king awesome"! No, really. Look it up!

So we didn't know about Seychells, Liechtenstien, and Azerbijian until spoilers. I noticed those countries listed are all not as well known (I believe, I could be wrong) as Latvia/Slovakia. Perhaps WRP, knowing we knew all but that country (?), they didn't tell us since its not as "well known" as Latvia/Slovakia.
Sorry, I bet this sounds confusing. :gaah:

If Neobie's presumptions are right, the missing leg is in Lithuania, already visited in TAR12; a season that - what a coincidence - also had a leg in the Netherlands.

I'm also one of those (sadly) thinking that there's no new country, but I'd be uber excited about that, because I live in Lithuania and it was already super cool to see my country featured in TAR12  :hearts:  :hearts:

But sorry, perhaps I missed something - according to what presumptions could the missing leg be in Lithuania?
