Middle aged couple guy with green beard, woman with short blonde hair. Probably gay couple, 30s? Dark haired girl and someone.

"Also guy/girl came up to the Sydney gate and left again, she had blonde hair, he was in a tank top and fairly muscley."

She's going to be sending me some photos, though we might have to wait a bit until she arrives in NZ before she sends them.

EDIT TO ADD: I saw three and one half teams. ;-) they're in Tom Bradley at gate 104 last I saw. Here's the departures.

TPE Taipei CI 7 China Airlines 1:15 AM T-B

TPE Taipei BR 15 EVA Air 1:35 AM T-B

and then connecting onwards.
