Gary & Mallory finished 9th on the 2nd leg of TAR 17 & 18.
Ron & Christina finished 2nd to the last on the 2nd leg of TAR 12 & 18.

Gary & Mallory would then climb to 2nd on the 3rd leg of TAR 17 & 18 ;)

the final 6 of season 20 actually almost match up with the final 6 of season 15
Winners: the overly competent couple with the blond female who was seen as the better racer, both teams won the first leg, a fast forward and the last four legs straight.
2nd: all male team who bickered with other teams and occasionally each other, excluding fast forwards both won two legs.
3rd: bickering couple that hadn't won any legs with the whining/crying/stressed out female
4th: Somewhat villainous team that had abrasive interactions with other teams
5th: All male team from the country, eliminated on the leg of their speed bump, won 1 leg.
6th: All female team that lied about their occupations, didn't win any legs and were close with one of the all male teams.

In addition to that:
7th: Teams that came in 10th on the 1st leg and 8th on the 2nd, their eliminations were avoidable.
11th: Young teams that lost on a footrace.
 ;)

TAR 17 & 22's w-turns (during the F5) had two teams using it and two different teams receiving it. (Leaving the w-turn board with 4 different pictures.) The team who eventually won the race u-turned the team that was eliminated on the w-turn leg. Of the 5 teams that were on the w-turn leg, the team whose picture wasn't on the w-turn board finished 4th.

TAR 22: The teams that received speeding tickets in Botswana were the same teams who quitted the sandcastle roadblock and survived the 1st leg.

TAR 8: The 3 teams who arrived 2nd to the last on the 3 NELs were eliminated on the following leg.

Team JJ, Roller Derby Moms, and Team Youtube are all allies.
They broke a record related to the ep, the NEL, and the u-turn respectively.

TAR23:
2 EPs & 2 w-turns:
1 EP gets used on the detour of the leg with the w-turn.
The teams who used the EP never even attempted the detour.
The 2nd EP was given on the leg with the 1st w-turn.
Both teams who had the EP used their u-turn power on the 2nd w-turn.
The team that used the EP on that leg won the leg.
The recipient of the 1st u-turn finished 3rd to the last on those legs. (and it had the same recipient)
The team who received the 2nd u-turn was eliminated on that leg.
The team who finished between the 2 w-turn victims is the same team. :groan:

Did I miss any? :) Let me know. ;)

More to add here:
No one was eliminated on the legs before the w-turn.
On the legs before the w-turn, the bunnies arrived last.
Before finding out they were u-turned, at least one w-turn victim from each w-turn leg, switched detours.

Does this count as ironic

UB have 5 teams from Season 14
but the first 4 eliminated teams were from Season 14
and the winner was also from Season 14

Here's another w-turn coincidence, this time from TAR21:
The person who used the 1st u-turn was u-turned on the 2nd one, but it had no effect because the team was ahead. Duh!

The most recent one that screamed in my mind. Bunnies thought they were being smart by not telling or helping everyone else that there's a table with additional dates sample at the Detour.. and they eventually still ended up finishing the task LAST.

Not that I wanted the other teams to be helped by Bunnies.. but it's just an irony or some would even say karma.
We are all misfits living in a world on fire.

I can understand your classification of this as karma; however, I disagree that they only thought they were being smart: in my opinion it was a smart move. The Bunnies had an up and down race, they were prepared to take any advantage they could get their hands on and that is fair enough. It was Leo and Jamal who asked them for help: The bunnies owed them nothing, they were in no way obliged to help them and so their decision not to is in my eyes valid. Furthermore Leo and Jamal had been notoriously deceitful up to that point, would you trust a promise or a deal from them? I digress...

Tim and Danny had a hard time with the Polka task in Poland, not just with the dance but with having to dress as a woman. This task became their intro task video snip reminding us all of their embarrassment weekly (it must be difficult to watch for them if they haven't yet come to terms with it :S) to me that's a pretty harsh example of poetic justice (I don't think I condone the humiliation - my opinion)

Nicole and Travis u-turn the Afghanimals (S23E8) for being dishonest/not playing the game by Nicole and Travis's moral paradigm (my least favourite use of the u-turn is as a punishment: see season 16 and both u-turns in the mentioned leg). In the next leg Leo doesn't allow Nicole to see his completed roadblock instrument, punishing her for trying to break her own moral paradigm. Poetic justice, comeuppance, revenge, what you will.

This one is not concrete but it's still interesting: elephants appear in the legs that eliminate blonde girls
see christie and jodie, liz and marie, and ally and ashley.
Notable exception: dustin and kandace (like i said, not concrete)

TAR22's & TAR23's 2nd w-turns have some similarities.

There were 2 types of teams that received the w-turn:
1.) A team that had to perform a speedbump
2.) A team that received a u-turn earlier in the race.

In TAR22, the team that had to perform the speedbump survived.
In TAR23, the team that was u-turned earlier in the race survived.

Posted this a long time ago on the other topic "Some interesting facts, records..." :

TAR 21:
The team that finished 2nd on the first leg were eventually the 2nd team eliminated from the Race. (Amy & Daniel)
The team that finished 3rd on the first leg were eventually the 3rd team eliminated from the Race. (Caitlin & Brittany)
The team that finished 2nd-to-last on the first leg made it to the finale and placed 2nd overall. (Jaymes & James)
The team that finished 3rd-to-last on the first leg made it to the finale and placed 3rd overall. (Trey & Lexi)
There status would not occur if the blonde girls taught with the Chipps the location of red dressed woman with an abacus, in this case the chipps would out run the blondes and finish 3rd, the blonde in 4th place and so on, Rob/Sheila still eliminated
Note the teachers, the rockers and the twinnie finished same place of first leg and last two legs before eliminated!

Remember when Justin jokingly asked the cab driver in Cambodia, which Zev & Justin make friend with
"If we told them the wrong direction, does it count as bad karma?"
Neither Zev/Justin told anyone a wrong direction, it was purely a joke.

But ironically, Zev lost his passport in this very same leg where they finished 1st for the first time.

Which can appear as a "bad karma" IF they really did tell someone a wrong direction. That is why it's ironic. I remember Phil seems really sad with this unfortunate incident

i don't necessarily believe in karma, but i understand how it works.

Jason Case, one of the winners of TAR 23, owns a snow management company (plowing, de-icing, etc.) in Massachusetts. On the night the TAR23 finale aired, it snowed in Massachusetts. :)

For TAR24:
coincidences:
1.) 9th place curse does not exist.
2.) CaroJen NEL'd twice.
3.) YouTube experienced at least one cab problem in both their original season and the all-star season.
4.) Margie & Luke finishing in 8th twice.
5.) Globes finishing after sun down twice.
6.) Cowboys ending their race after getting U-turned twice.
7.) Afghanimals ending both of their races in 4th. They started both penultimate legs in 1st, but they got their final clues in last.
8.) Half of the teams (5.5) got the EP/won first on first leg either during their original season or this season.

irony:
1.) NaNa was from the 1st flight in Leg 1; however, they came in last that leg.
2.) Mark & Mallory were first to finish the roadblock in Leg 2; however, they came in lest that leg.
3.) Cowboys gave their 2nd EP to CaroJen, but CaroJen got further through the race than the Cowboys.
4.) Brenchel finishing last in the finale, despite their location advantage.
5.) JJ finished the detour first in Leg 7, yet they arrived last on that leg's pit stop.
6.) Afghans finished the ARI in Leg 11 first, but they finished that leg in last.

karma:
1.) Dave & Connor using their U-turn power too early.

Did I miss any? :)
